So, I watched HttyD 3 recently. Do you know what bothered me the whole movie? Grimmel. Do you know how much I wanted Hiccup to run him through with Inferno or Astrid to seperate his ugly head from his shoulders with her battleaxe? Or both at the same time?? But, the franchise has to be child friendly, so no blood & gore.
Also, if it wasn't obvious, I hate Grimmel. He thinks he's intelligent, but guess what? I don't believe it.
When the Hooligans leave the isle of Berk Grimmel states that they left the only position they could have defended. But take a good look at New Berk: The cliffs are massive, at a 90° angle. The armada was basically worthless, beacuse good luck getting troops up there. A siege would've been ineffective too.
The island had plenty of resources, the Hooligans could've used to build fortifications, such a palisades and watchtowers for archers. Gobber also had a working forge, so a weapon supply was guaranteed. Also, if shortages in resources would've occurred, the Hooligans could've simply used their dragons as blockade runners.
All I'm trying to say is that the Hairy Hooligans were capable of defending New Berk and as such Grimmel's point is invalid. The conclusion is that Grimmel is not the tactical genius we were made to believe he is.
Sun Tzu said:"Appear weak when you are strong and strong when you are weak."
This ultimately reigns true. The Hooligans surrounding Chief Hiccup, few in numbers, strong at heart. Grimmel and the Dragon Hunters, strong in numbers, but crumbling inside.
