I'm still blocking and reporting bot accounts following me, and if any humans get caught in the crossfire, I'm sorry but you should have made yourself look less like a bot
I'm about to take these tags far too seriously, and I apologize to everyone in advance for that.
Now look, I enjoy reading about twisted, definitely not healthy couples sometimes. They can be very entertaining, and I fully get the appeal.
But no. Being possessive, selfish, and willing to murder thousands of innocent people in an effort to save one is not real love. None of these things are good!
Anakin - as that's obviously who I was referring to by the murder line - was not acting out of love when he betrayed the Jedi and sided with Palpatine. He was acting out of a place of selfish fear. Because he was afraid that Padme was going to die, and Anakin couldn't handle how that made him feel. He let his fears justify the murder of children for a chance that he could keep Padme safe from a future he didn't even know would happen. That's not love, that's deranged.
You know what Anakin might have done, if he'd actually been acting out of love for Padme? He might have listened to her, when she told him what she wanted. Padme wanted to retire, to raise her baby with Anakin somewhere safe, away from all the stress and pressures and danger.
Or maybe, if he'd been acting from love, he could have gone to the Council - or at least Obi-Wan - and told them the full truth about his visions of Padme dying. We can't know for sure what they'd have done since Anakin doesn't take this option, but I believe that given Padme was a firm ally and personal friend of more than one Jedi, they'd have done whatever they could to help make sure she was safe and well.
But here's the thing; either one of those options would have cost Anakin personally. If he'd done what Padme wanted, he'd have had to choose to walk away from the Order. And if he'd gone to the Council to ask for help, while I think they would have helped, I also think Anakin would likely have been expelled for getting married when they weren't allowed to. The loving options required personal sacrifice from Anakin, and he wasn't willing to do that.
Because he was selfish. And possessive. And fearful.
Or as the Jedi might put it, he was too attached.
So no. Attachment, possessiveness, and selfishness is not real love.
"no attachments" in SW literally just means "don't be selfish and possessive". that's it. that's all there is. doesn't mean jedi can't have friends and loved ones. they can. just. don't be possessive and selfish about it. don't murder thousands of people in an effort to save one.
