the current thing trad losers are losing their minds over is one singular dude on reddit that refurbished and hand painted a grandfather clock and they keep saying the guy “ruined its value” or “threw thousands out the window by vandalizing a precious heirloom” and let me just say as someone densely familiar with the world of antiques, there’s a 99% chance that this clock was a mass produced reproduction and there’s a 100% chance that clock is not as valuable as ppl think it is. when people hear the word ‘grandfather clock’ they’re always gonna assume you’re talking about something that was handmade in a woodshop by a jolly old man when rlly repros take up a waaay bigger slice of the market far more than any handcrafted items. and besides people will repaint or redecorate these ‘oh so sacred handcrafted items’ every day there’s a huge market for them. it’s the same reason why people like long furbies or dolls that have been customized to have like gore mouths or something. this is literally like watching a bunch of pretentious farts make a mountain out of a molehill. also the clock is kinda cool if I’m being honest

Here's a pretty nicely done castle house. 1927 build in Chevy Chase, MD has 4bds, 5ba, priced at $1.795M.
There's a small foyer.
And you come to a sweeping staircase in an entrance hall.
Beautiful.
This hall leads to the ground floor rooms.
Interesting room layout. An arch with columns and just a small area with a doorway.
The arched doorway has steps down to a libary with a pool table. It has stone floors and walls of bookshelves. Look at the interesting ceiling.
At the end of this hall there's a small desk.
Off to the side is a bedroom.
It has a lovey vintage/modern bath w/tile that ties in with the theme of the home.
Very nice family room with a big stone fireplace.
Lovely dining room.
The kitchen is unique with lovely carved cabinetry. There's a long counter for casual dining.
The cabinets are so beautiful, I wish they'd done a clouseup.
Lovely terrace.
This looks like the primary bedroom on the 2nd fl.
Has a lovely renovated shower room.
Here's a beautiful bedroom with a cute bath.
This is great- a rooftop deck overlooking the garden.
Down on the ground there's a gorgeous patio with a stone fireplace.
Beautiful grounds to stroll.
Path along a little waterway. There's no pool, though.

This 1928 home in National City, CA looks more like a castle than most castle-style homes. 5bds, 5ba, $3M.
Right? Look at the entrance halls.
The stairs look like Spanish tiles.
The great room. They left some shelving, it's not built-in.
Closeup of the stone fireplace.
I like the balcony.
Here's a sitting room that looks more like a very large living room. Beautiful brick fireplace and ceiling beams.
And, here's another sitting room.
The sitting room and dining area share this large space.
The huge kitchen is a professional chef's kitchen.
There's also an everyday dining room.
Very vintage guest powder room.
At the top of the stairs there's a very open, large, bedroom, but I don't think that it was meant to be a bedroom. Looks like someone cut the cord on the chandelier.
Spacious bedroom
And, a big, vintage bath.
Two showers.
This bedroom has an en-suite. Not into the shower enclosure they chose.
The owners are in the middle of moving. It looks like this is a bedroom with a sitting room, so it's likely the primary suite.
All the baths are vintage, but look like they have revamped showers.
Love the turret.
For $3M, the yard is terrible, though. I hope that the garages aren't lacking doors.
Could probably fit a pool in the courtyard, but for $3M, I'd expect one to be here, already. The covered patio is very nice, but some of the columns need attention.
The lot is almost 8 acres, so it's a huge property. Look at how long the private road to the main road is.

The 2024 Gender Census is now open!
[ Link to survey ]
The 11th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th June 2024.
It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.
After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.
Survey URL: https://survey.gendercensus.com
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
For the curious, you can also spy on some graphs and demographic data for the incoming responses here.
Thank you so much!

Incredible 1933 Spanish home in West Hills, CA has 6bds, 5ba, $6.495M.
The rustic Spanish home has beautiful beamed ceilings, rustic doors, brick walls and a large fireplace painted white.
We know that the statues belong to the homeowners, but the frames are likely architectural salvage pieces that also belong to them.
Lovely arched windows. When I look at a home like this, I think of how long it must've taken to collect all of the beautiful furniture and accessories and I know that I could never make it look like this.
I like the archways and look at the stained glass.
In this room, there's a huge curved built-in brick sofa. I like the tile floors going throughout the house.
Another beautiful fireplace with round stained glass windows, and built-in benches and platforms.
Beautiful architecture.
Curved brick walls and another round stained glass window.
The dining room is very big and has 2 sets of doors to the patio.
The corner fireplace in here is beautiful.
The stucco walls and arches in the halls are wonderful.
The fireplaces in this home! And, each one is different. What a huge library.
This is nice, the bath has an original vintage tub.
Beautiful carved sink vanity has double sinks and the typical Spanish tile counter.
The brick patio is like a picture with it's container gardens and fountain.
The patio continues around the house where there's a gorgeous outdoor fireplace.
Nice covered area.
Here, the patio changes to stone. What wonderful grill work on the windows.
The whole house is just beautiful.
They've got a little shrine here.
The drive is lined by lovely stone walls.
Look at these 2 dudes chillin' in the shade. I wonder if they convey.
The land is 6.70 acres.

Interesting colorful 1958 mid-century modern in St. Louis Park, MN. 5bds, 3ba, $925K
There's a nice entrance foyer- it's different than the typical MCM layout.
Isn't this a beautiful sunny living room? What a large fireplace wall.
Very large open dining area. This home is very spacious and well-cared for. It already has a pending sale.
Right off the living room is a colorful kitchen.
This is lovely. I wonder how they found a backsplash to match.
The primary bedroom is quite different from the usual MCM bedrooms- it's not a plain box and it's got a vaulted wood ceiling plus a glass wall and sliders to the patio.
The shower room was remodeled and seamlessly fits the MCM style.
The children's room is quite large.
The children's bath mirrors the shower room, except that it has a tub.
It's almost like the exterior has "rooms" and there's an open roof for a tree.
Downstairs is a very large basement with a family room and bar.
It also has a fireplace.
The home goes on and on, it has so many rooms.
It also has a big deck with an outdoor kitchen.
Plus, a great workshop.
The house is larger than I thought, and it's an attractive colorful home on the exterior, too.
The lot measures .51 acre.

Mailbox Mesh Default Replacement
A simple default replacement for the mailbox mesh that removes the wooden ball from the top of its stand.
Also included is a new add-on lamp by @pforestsims that can be layered with the mailbox, and is a pretty garden lamp on its own:
It'll pull all the metal recolors you have for the Blazin' Buckaroos lamp.
And for those who use the 4t2 Ol' Rustic Mailbox Cover by Michelle, I nudged one verticle clipping with it inwards, so it won't show from under the cover anymore:
The cover's not included, you can download it from the link above.
📨 Download (SFS) (alternate)
The files are compressed. The default is compatible with the existing recolors for the mailbox and its stand, as well as texture replacements for them.
Credit and thanks to PF for the lamp!
