Cut flowers are beautiful, for a short while. But how much more satisfying is it to see them take root and bloom year after year, growing richer and stronger from the love and attention they deserve?

Dawns and sunsets, the relentless passage of time, breakneck-fast and bone-achingly slow.

A pilgrimage, to worship at the temples of knowledge.
which is just a wanky way of saying “photo dump: London Museums edition”

Annual blossom worship, fighting wabi-sabi, always attempting to bottle something that is not meant to be held tightly but instead flow freely in and out of existence. The ebb and flow of love and loss and life and death, a handful of days to enrapture us all after the coldest, darkest days of the year.

The day is dying and trees are just being reborn.
Taken during the death of my old life, and the birth of my new one.
Soft and vibrant and warm behind me. Cold and bleak like winter ahead of me. I hope spring comes soon, if at all.

it's rare that I come across old work and don't hate it but I do enjoy this every single time

All I ever draw nowadays is Star Wars. Hm.
Anyway, every week or so I play STAR WARS D&D with 5 of my friends. Yes. Usually after each session our GM’ll upload a sort of highlights post to our facebook group (nerdy AND organised, yeahhhh!) and to aid this process, and because it’s fun, I’ve been drawing hourly 1- or 2-panel comics based on humorous things that happen.
This is my character Sen accidentally letting slip to her NPC friend Sinbad that our party’s in possession of a “super-laser” that can blow up cities. Oops.

Had a crisis, lay on the floor and cried and somehow drew a comic whilst dissociating severely.

Rough and scratchy check-in because I’ve tentatively started drawing again and I feel vaguely hopeful about it. I’m restricting myself to almost entirely basic pens like I did when I was a teenager to try and let go of my need for perfectionism.
Played around with some gouache, did some OFMD fanart, redesigned my pirate OC from 15 years ago (😬) did some thumbnails of things I might draw…not pictured, made a corset style bodice (no boning) and started making a Howl Pendragon cardigan.

another one from my mad rush to add some substance to my portfolio: tried to make a fake poster for a roller disco. The place is real, the event is fake, the date is my skate anniversary 😂
Oh and the main slogan is from Moonlight Roller which I will hopefully be buying a pair from once my local skate shop restocks 🙏🏽
On the right is the mood board I made to try and direct my thoughts, and the colour palette is from pantone!

Didn’t want this to be confined to just my portfolio, so I’ll share here as well.
Made a fake client brief to redesign the brand identity for The Roost. I hope Brewster likes it 😌
edit: not really sure why all 3 of the pictures kept changing to be the coffee cup one but hopefully I’ve fixed it 😬

I don’t have anything deep or interesting to say about this. It’s nice to be able to go to an art gallery and have a deep conversation about the meaning of an art piece and it’s sociopolitical stance in one room, and then giggle immaturely at a bright green penis in the next one.
My favourite thing to shoot in galleries and museums is people looking at art. It started as a kind of reluctant acceptance that I wouldn’t get an empty room, combined with the fact that I feel like people always add some dynamism even if they’re standing completely still. It helps to show off the scale of something as well.
There’s something weirdly private about watching someone look at art, too. They’re having their own private moment, their own unique reaction and train of thought about this thing that’s been seen by so many eyes already, informed by all the steps they’ve taken in the past to be here in this moment looking at this thing. I never show the faces originally from a privacy point of view, but I feel like it adds to the mystery. Do they hate it? Love it? Are they thrilled or bored or just completely baffled? Who knows.

Oh! bear me then to vast embowering shades, To twilight groves, and visionary vales, To weeping grottoes, and prophetic glooms! Where angel forms athwart the solemn dusk Tremendous sweep, or seem to sweep along; And voices more than human, through the void Deep-sounding, seize the enthusiastic ear. - James Thomson, 1730
