Personal HeadCanon time!
I imagine Luisa was born fairly premature, and took a lot of time to catch up to where she needed to be, to the point that Julieta and Agust铆n begged Bruno to break his rule about no visions for family while she was still a baby just to know for sure she'd be OK.
Bruno did, and saw his tiny baby sobrina growing up into an absolute Amazon of a woman and assuage her parents' fears, though he didn't reveal her gift or that vision until after she'd gotten her door.
But in the mean time Bruno developed a bit of a soft spot for Luisa especially. When she was small, he'd read her myths about Greek heros and Colombian legends and have her play the characters to get her moving. Her favorite game for a while was playing Hercules, which often wound up with Bruno playing some villain or other that Luisa had to defeat in arm wrestling. Of course Bruno plays up trying to beat her and makes a big show when he's finally "defeated" and Luisa loved it as a little girl.
She accidentally broke his fingers once after she got her gift, but he didn't let on, not wanting her to be scared of herself, but the games slowly subsided after that as Luisa was split between her schooling and helping the town with her strength.
Once Bruno comes back and is settled in Casita, Luisa is determined to see him back in good health, and one way she does this is bringing back the arm wrestling. If he can move her arm at all? She'll be convinced he's doing better.
Bruno is just glad to have his sobrina back and happy to see she's begun to rest and enjoy herself, even if it does include torturing his scrawny hide.

Another AO3 thing I鈥檓 curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it鈥檚 easy math and two it鈥檚 yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it鈥檚 good?
#YES#I even read fics with tags that squeak me out bc there's still a possibility of them being good in other aspects#like dialogue world building etc#I do look at the word count#if a fic has less than 2k words per chapter on average I don't even bother#or if the summary is longer than the fic

The kink in the circle around Chispi is so pronounced that Bruno could make a better circle by going round the other side of Chispi so she was on the outside.
So why doesn鈥檛 he?
Probably because he knows that would put Chispi in the scariest swirlingest part of the vision, getting blasted with glowing sand. And he鈥檚 trying to protect her. Because that鈥檚 the kind of guy he is.

Definitely! And while we're on the topic of struggling to keep it all in... who do you think would suggest to put Bruno out of his misery first? Personally, I could see F茅lix hinting at it about seven years in. He is a family man and although he loves Bruno like a brother he can clearly see how much everyone's condition is deteriorating. I hc him as very much a realist and it would be heart-wrenching to see how he copes with these thoughts... and how he goes about breaking them to the rest of the family. Two of his kids have already been neglected by the circumstances and he doesn't want Antonio going through the same.
Lovingly leaving an Encanto AU at your door.... Instead of leaving, or while he鈥檚 trying to leave, Bruno somehow falls into a 10 year coma. I wonder if the family would talk about him more if they didn鈥檛 think he ditched them. And personally I鈥檇 make it a modern AU because more advanced medical care lol. But I want to hear your thoughts and what you鈥檇 do with it :D (This came to me because my mom was recently devouring documentaries about ppl who woke up from like 20 year comas oof)

I can relate to your mom on a spiritual level, haha! Once a random topic piques my interest there's no going back until I know everything about it (my latest medical topic was heart failure which might find its way into a future fic of mine lol).
I don't know anything about comas, though. But, yeah, I think a modern AU would be for the best... because even using Julieta's food on Bruno in the canon universe would be very, very difficult and pretty painful for everyone involved.
I couldn't help but think of the prison/modern AU I made (if anyone still remembers it) when you sent me your ask because
1. Bruno was still physically in reach for the family after their conflict
2. He had to adjust to a world that had gone on without him once his sentence was over
which sort of would be like waking up from a coma, I suppose? And yet the biggest difference I could imagine would be the feeling of guilt and shame for the Madrigals from the very start which would cause them to overcompensate and to possibly give themselves up in the process.
"How did he fall into a coma? Who takes care of him now? Can Bruno still hear and sense what's going on around him?"
The last question has so much angst potential that I'm actually too scared to think about it any longer. But in that case, I'd like to believe that the Madrigals wouldn't stop talking about and to him. 馃槶
What should we call this AU?

Exactly this!! Maybe Alma and Julieta try to push Pepa away from Bruno because her being so openly emotional doesn't seem to do anyone any good (not getting into morals here, haha) while I could see Julieta really devoting herself to finding a cure (maybe even quitting her job and putting herself last, as always). Gosh, but this would be so hard on the Madrigal kids... especially once their moms become "unavailable" too.

Yes, the Alma thing immediately manifested in my head... just imagine her sitting by Bruno's bedside, clutching his slack hand... crying over their lost time... while Bruno can hear every little thing. "Mam谩, I'm still here!" he wants to tell her, but his mouth doesn't work. 馃珷
