Your designs have gotten me thinking about a series I haven’t thought of for a year. (Mind you I was also stuck here for about 9 years) I love your designs!
This is like the best comment I've ever gotten !! I'm really glad you like them, they were a blast working on! Especially figuring out the mechanics and all that

I don't think William was ever a great person, but I don't think he was ever an entirely Big Bad Evil Guy until he quite literally lost himself in the persona of a killer rabbit.
William Afton was a people person, a good business man at the very least. He knew how to make connections, and his technical ability was extraordinary, especially considering he lived in Utah and was British.
He was at the very least enough of a good man to have three god damn kids with, even if they weren't treated the best in the end.
Springtrap is a man who had been locked in a single room for years. Does he know what he looks like? What did he used to look like? The glimpses he catches on the reflection of old, rusty arcade screens are unfamiliar, and yet would he even recognize himself if he was the same man he was before all this?
Scraptrap? That is a...something. A man driven mad? A sad, bitter one at the very least. But can you even call him a man anymore? Would he consider himself human?
Glitchtrap and Burntrap are mysteries, but the lack of witty British banter leaves an odd silence that makes me think, perhaps William did die in that fire, and the remains are only a cheap imitation. When you are recreating a story of a murderer for some silly vr game, do you care what he loved? Do you wonder what he thought? Is there anyone even alive to care who William Afton was, behind the murders?

I think if Glamrock Freddy and Bonnie are dating, and personally I do believe they are, then that is possibly the funniest think to include in this new Era of fnaf. Not only because of, well you know, but also because there are too many homophobic fnaf fans and I appreciate the chance to weed them out. Now Steelwool I'm beaming this message into your head make Roxy canonically trans and make her and chica girlfriends

For the daycare since I actually played that one, even though I struggled with finding the generators themselves (a quick guide will help with that) if you're struggling with moon themselves it's way less stressful when you realize that the distractions, when done quickly in succession, actually stump them for quite a bit and you can just redo them when you need to because it causes them to lose aggro.
For fnaf 1 I haven't played myself but I believe the strat is cam flip on Freddy's last stage (this stalls him AND foxy, you don't specifically need to watch foxy just open cams for him), then check your left and right lights. Pretty sure that's all you do, obviously closing doors every once in a while. Your biggest enemy will be RNG but with higher difficulties they tend to leave pretty fast.
If you are too worried about foxy you *might* be able to check on him, but you want to keep the cam on freddy mostly because he doesn't leave after he reaches his last stage. Again foxy *shouldn't* be a problem as his trigger auto fails if you are on cams, but you might be able to sacrifice a second or two. I'd wager probably not on 4/20, but maybe on night 6.
Fnaf 2 strat basically involves just keeping cams on puppet, then as you exit cams go directly to the mask, then once any threat is gone flashlight foxy a good few times and check your side lights. Foxy basically works on a timer and as long as you flashlight him before the time is up you should be dandy.
I hoped that helped?? I've played SB the most but I believe those are the best strats for 1 and 2
So I got FNAF Security Breach for Christmas, and I'm up to the daycare section now but I'm terrified to carry on because Moon freaks me the FUCK out. A weird question, I know, but does anyone have any advice or tips on how to complete this section of the game?
In addition, I still haven't played Nights 6-7 of FNAF1 (and I cheated Night 5), and I haven't played FNAF 2 through to Sister Location yet. Does anyone have any tips on how to a) get past Nights 5-7 on the original game and b) how to not die in FNAF 2?
Also, I'm super excited because my copy of the FNAF movie novelisation arrives tomorrow so I'm going to pause my reread of LOTR and read that, maybe make a post about interesting things in the novel!

(NOT A "<character> is a robot" POST)
Honestly my favourite current theory for fnaf is that the mimic (who is probably not burntrap but may be glitchtrap) is intending to recreate the events of the William Afton Era™️ to a T, as it was built to mimic by....someone? I mean someone had to build it right.
Anyway I'm gonna lightly explain my reasoning for each of these even though I'm sure most of you have already made these connections before
I mean, we all heard the Vanessa theories already yeah? Not even mentioning her visual similarities to Elizabeth, I think either her or Michael could fit. Both of them were loyal to their father at some point (I don't know why else Michael would go into the Sister location bunker) and they both played significant roles in the story. I think if this was the case I'd wager Vanessa was *supposed* to be Elizabeth, but after breaking free she became more like Michael and hellbent on destroying the glitchtrap virus for good (maybe with a little bit of fire). I could understand arguments for Glamrock Freddy being Michael (even aside from him *literally* being Michael) but I didn't include any of the glamrocks because they serve a narrative purpose already as animatronics.
Gregory is. Obvious. I mean with how similar they look its already sort of suspicious, though Gregory is a little bit more of a fighter than CC. They at the very least share a connection with bear robots. I could see an argument for Gregory being Michael (God is Michael just every character?) But for visual similarities alone I picked CC.
Cassie was theorized from day one to be Cassidy or Charlie or both. I personally learn more towards Charlie but because of Something in hw2 I may be more willing to accept her as the vengeful spirit. I know Charlie doesn't always equal green but Cassie does have specks of green throughout her design, and she seems to be a very kind and caring friend (maybe too kind). Roxy being protective over her near the end is, well, a loose connection to the security puppet but I thought I'd bring it up.
For cassidy I can see this since if Gregory is CC, obviously cassidy and him would most likely talk and maybe be friends. In the picture that is from the logbook which might be cassidy they share a similar hair style. Not identical but, similar. Though I miss Cassie's curly hair </3
Mimic is probably the most obvious connection. William is like. The only human murderer from the original story, so you know, if the mimic is trying to kill people it's safe to say they are probably mimicking him. Though clearly they are not above mimicking other people (Gregory) in order to do this, sort of like what I imagine the funtimes did. I don't necessarily think they are acting like they did in the books where they are just carrying out an order to disassemble mechs, because if they were WHYyyy the need to lure people down there? Hey man I don't think that person you tricked into climbing down here is an endoskeleton I think that's a fucking person. This seems much more malicious, something that would make sense if they based their actions off of a killer from the 80s.
Also I guess Cassie's dad is worth a mention, who may be a parallel with Henry Emily or even Charlie herself. I'm leaning more towards Henry but I could see a case for it. I guess he can always be Michael. Because as much as I like fan interpretations of him he's sort of. Just Like. There. You know to be a foil to his dad.
Anyway I hope this was interesting, or rage inducing. And no I don't like the idea of them being robots of the character ❤️

You are not an angel, you are not a martyr, you are not even a sacrifice. You were a child. Grieve this, mourn the loss of the life you had, and then let go of the chains you had binded to yourself to keep you here. You do not need to prove this loss meant something, your life was precious already.

Feel it's important to point out that the pizzaplex animatronics are probably "sassy" or sarcastic in help wanted 2 because they are programmed to work with children, not adults. If under other circumstances the other robots would have probably been just as nice to Gregory as Freddy and Sun, and to Cassie as Roxy was. I don't think we've seen them interact with an adult under normal circumstances. In fact Freddy straight up lies to Vanessa all the time, prioritizing the child's wants (or a need, really) over reporting to staff.
Sun is probably very enthusiastic about kids art! But you are an adult undergoing training, not for the love of art. Same thing with the carousel. This may also be because of their fear of turning into moon if you aren't timely.
And Freddy wasn't even that sarcastic, in fact he was very pleasant, aside from when you pick up the "happy birthday timmy" cake, in which he actually seems upset because he doesn't want to fuck up a kids party!! That is not Timmy that is Jimmy!!! Jimmy would notice!!!!

Just gonna toss a bunch of theories out and see what sticks after seeing hw2
- candy cadet story is about Cassie and when she escapes she'll eventually come back to try and fight the mimic and die
- candy cadet story is about Cassie about what has already happened, meaning as a child she was scarred by something like the mimic and now she's heavily injured by it at the very least
- candy cadet story is about Cassie's dad who IS the bonnie mask bro and the scar was witnessing the inciting incident that lead to Charlie's death and then the MCI and then he died at the pizzplex (honestly this is entirely improbable but whatever. I wrote it down anyway)
- the story is about Michael Afton and the "witch" was his father and his experiments
- the story is about Charlie, who didn't "survive" the "witch" (afton) per se but did continue living enough to hunt him down, only to be trapped in an oven with him
- it's about Vanessa implying she's going to go back to the pizzplex and get captured, again. Or that this has already happened.
- it's about Gregory and actually he's not alive at all by the time ruin happens
Moving on from candy cadet
- the game is setting up the next Michael Afton, much like how Cassie may be a Charlie parallel (or a Cassidy one), where the mimic is now looking for a perfect rival for their mimicry
- actually the game is showing you possessing maskbot and giving the mask to Cassie (implying some connection between the two, perhaps father and daughter?)
- ACTUALLY the game is about killing glitchytrap for good for Vanessa to be free
- ACTUALLY the game is about killing glitchytrap because vanny was a servant of the mimic this whole time, and glitchtrap was a means to an end
- something about that whole thing with baby. Elizabeth and baby parallels but also possibly Elizabeth and Michael parallels
- why do these bots keep asking why I'm special. Are we special? As in possessed? As in a higher up? As in...?
- Does Jimmy Ever Get His Birthday Cake ????
- who is Jimmy
- who left all of these Jimmys lying around
- actually if Cassie is Charlie, Gregory could be Gabriel, Jimmy could be Jeremy. There u go, Jimmy. Happy birthday
- somebody pls get mystic hippo some tarot cards so she can do actual readings
- monty dead dead
Alright goodnight everyone

No one has particularly asked but in my redesigns for the animatronics I tried to make them as similar as I could to real life chuck e cheese animatronics, while being able to keep the story as is.
My original sketches had notes that were removed so I could put animatronics on one page, but I'll share some here;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Freddy, being the first one I designed, had the concept of the endoskeleton (or rather "mech" as I will call it now) on his page.
In this regard the fnaf one and two animatronics are actually very nearly accurate. The head is actually a bit bigger usually in real life, presumably to give the audience an easier time seeing their facial expressions. A hitch is that the mechs don't actually have teeth. I mean, like, why would they? The fnaf animatronics don't even need them they are just for extra spooky factor, I guess.
Also, animatronics like the older chuck e cheese ones are air pressured, not electric. This is less common today but was most likely a budget thing along with it possibly being easier to work with?
Since I couldn't think of a way they'd be able to move in such complex ways with just air pressure, I decided that I can allow the fact that Henry and Afton most likely found a way to combine the two in a way that would make it cheaper and easier while allowing them to make more complex shows.
The face is extremely simple, and even with the fnaf animatronics having more expression with their eyebrows and a second pair of eyelids for the bottom of their eyes, I think this is something air pressure could handle. The teeth were replaced with the standard jaw movement piece, which would be hidden by a mouth plate in the back of the mouth (no extra teeth required).
Realistically, these would have to be charged often. My solution would be that they can be charged while stationary on thr stage, whether that's from plugging them in (something a tech would have to do in-between shows), or if the stage floor has some wireless charging built into it, though that's probably pushing it for the 80s.
The arms and legs are complex, seeing as they are shown doing rather simple things for their performances but able to move them in many more different directions. And their legs. Need I mention more about that? Real animatronics usually cannot move their legs. There are some minor exceptions, such as rock-afire's Beach bear being able to tap his foot, but no, they cannot walk around. In fact most do not have mechs below the hips (which for fnaf animatronics are also quite small. How are you holding up your upper body?). This is where the electricity comes in.
The battery would have to be large, so hiding it in the feet would be best to give them a solid standing position.
They would also have a voice box for off-stage use only, as on stage they would have their tapes play on the speakers. These voice boxes would play the same tapes, with the singing come from the box instead of the stage. These wouldn't be removed when they were confined to the stage, but I imagine the battery packs in their feet would be to prevent wandering. It's curious how they still manage to do so at night....
And for the outer part, it's standard for animatronics. The fur covers every part of the body not clothed, aside from the face. The face is made out of extremely malleable latex or similar material, and the nose is rubber. The nose for freddy is subject to change to a softer material that would allow you to gently honk his nose.
As for the wood interior, I saw that once for a chuck e cheese animatronic, and figured it would be best to use to help the animatronics keep their shapes. The velcro attaching the head pieces is for easy removal for maintenance.
I have more notes for character specific alterations to the mech. Those are mostly just the funtimes, with mangle as an exception as I changed them a LOT. If you're interested...let me know 👀
