I agree only on the grounds that Stroud stops being a coward and gives us our lesbian Piper/Kitty follow-up story we clearly need
Makepeace being a gay-coded villain is okay actually because our hero Kitty Jones is clearly, obviously, a lesbian, so it balances

Right, and it's not like they're revolutionizing the portrayal of the wives in any way... Anne Boleyn is the slutty homewrecker, Jane Seymour is the only one he loved (NOT TRUE, he didn't even come to her bedside when she died), exactly how this story has always been taught. But they're presenting it like a new, feminist interpretation and cashing in on that, even though it isn't.
“six women who are often overlooked in favour of their husband“
uhh…… they’re not??? like, your average history fan gives no fucks about henry viii but knows a thing or two about one or two of his wives?? like, this is literally the only situation where the wives are the popular ones, that’s even mentioned in the show. are you, like, not even paying attention to the text you claim is such a great history lesson or what?

a set of visdev pieces i did for class, focusing King Frederick II of Prussia’s( highly imaginative) early life: His everyday life as a prince, and later, the old king’s death, his coronation, and his conquest for Silesia.

So I just found out that Elisabeth Winterhalter, the first female German doctor was also gay and had a life-long girlfriend called Ottilie Roederstein, honestly, what an icon.

Yes!! I thought of that too!! With every other author I would say it could be a stretch, but this is Victor Hugo. So it’s very likely intentional.
les mis question!
hey,
so I was reading les mis and when the guard is about to shoot at enjolras and then says “I can’t, it would be like shooting a flower”, that’s an aeneid reference right? because when grantaire was introduced (some 500 pages ago!) he was described as being (from memory) the hephaestion, patroklos, pollux and nissus, which implies that enjolras is the alexander, achilles, castor and euryalus. and euryalus is famous for that flower metaphor when he dies. like this isn’t a stretch, this is intentional. right???

I love how every Blackwing project so far has a downside to their abilities.
Dirk - “psychic”, receives hunches from the universe but doesn’t know what to do with them
The Rowdy 3 - soul-sucking vampires, but they’re kind of nuts
Moloch - can create entire universes, but he’s in a coma
Bart - kills people that deserve to die, but can’t be contained
Mona - can become anything, but prefers inanimate objects
Poor Friedkin, he always gets let down...

Not sure on Achilles...he could be a Slytherin? Patroclus is probably Gryffindor, at least in the Iliad. Thetis is a Hufflepuff in the Iliad but a Slytherin in tsoa. And I kind of think Briseis could be a Ravenclaw?
Achilles is a Gryffindor and Patroclus is a Ravenclaw. Briseis is a Hufflepuff. Thetis is a Slytherin. Thoughts?
