why do your characters have tattoos on their faces? why cant they choose to put them in other part of their bodies or no?

Oh!!! They can definitely choose to put them elsewhere, but they’re actually not tattoos, more like body paint that’s washable, but tattoos can be common as well :3

I revised Tribal Marking Paint a while ago with @drakones‘ help and made these alternatives (it’s kinda hard to fit tribal crests on faces aah):

The coloring and shape of the markings around their eyes are representation of their tribes. I also drew their original CRESTS as well as their GEMS/JEWELS

I still was writing my story and looking to fanart for inspiration. I just had a few questions about the South and The Fish Trade. It seems cold. Is the fishing industry mostly people getting on boats for months at time to find one kind of fish? Or is it village-based everyone goes out on tiny canoes and giant nets and catch anything edible. I am writing about a terrible famine, afterwards fish becomes very expensive and a big part of the diet. it is why Vegeta really gets excited around fish!

Well, actually let me use my OC Kale as an example c:

You’re definitely correct. The Azorean and Zircontic tribes (the Southern Continent) have a cold climate year round, but they are extremely adapted to it. Fishing is usually done during the “summer” when it’s warmest, but much of the techniques that I’ve given these Saiyan fisherman to use aren’t based off of what us humans use, the closest things being nets. Much of their techniques are based around ANIMAL fishing techniques.

Kale, learning his fishing techniques from his carrier, specializes in what I call Deep Diving, as well as many others. This Deep Diving technique is inspired by larger water birds! This Deep Diving starts off in the air. Kale would fly up maybe 40 or 50 feet in the air to get some momentum going. He then would proceed to literally dive bomb straight into the water, as deep down as he can get. Near the ocean floor is where the big catches are.

Saiyans are very adept at holding their breath longer than a human, but most likely no more than 10 minutes. Seeing underwater and in darkness is no problem either. Kale wouldn’t have a net at this time. He is literal bait himself and lures carnivorous fish (who are usually the biggest) to follow him up enough to the surface where he can either cleave it in two as it tails him with a ki blast or with swords.

Bruss is his spotter and before Kale breaks the surface, then he’d throw a metal net down. Mind you, these catches can be HUGE even if it’s just one fish. Bruss would hold one end of the net while Kale grabs the other and drags it under the beast before it sinks to the bottom. Then they’d bring it up to the surface where the creature is harvested (meat, bone, teeth, scales, everything can be of use in some way to Saiyans).

Now that’s just Deep Diving. This is the one I’ve put the most thought into, but here are a few more:

Yes, Saiyans do have ships, sturdy ones that are usually used for any military matters, but older ones can be given to tribes for fishing use and are usually used during large fish migrations where they are able to catch more. These are used during fishing migrations. This technique is kind of inspired by Basking Sharks and most whales as well.

At the bottom of these ships are metal nets as well. The net’s mouth shaped function is to capture fish as the ship sails over the migrating fish. There are Saiyans underwater right beside the ships to oversee the nets and make sure that they are catching. If the fish seem to be avoiding the nets, then they will intervene and maneuver the nets to where more will be caught. When a good catch is caught, they’ll detach the net from the ship, seal it tightly and bring the catch to land where fish will be sorted and done away with to markets and merchants.

Sometimes during migrations, another less efficient for large catches, but more fun technique can be used as well. It is also used as a way to teach cubs as well and is inspired by penguin fishing >w

A Saiyan sets their sights on a target fish and literally just GO FOR IT. Whether it’s with their hands or mouth, it’s hunting practice and something that is good for the reflexes and is a good learning experiences as well. If you catch your fish, you can bring it home to your family members who will probably do the same!

Stalking is another technique inspired by Great White Sharks and is basically the opposite of Deep Diving. With this technique, a Saiyan will start off in the water, quite a ways down and peering up at the surface, moving if they have to until they can find a potential target. When a target is spotted, that will position themselves right below it and hurl themselves at it, using ki to propel themselves into the creature. 2 hooked daggers are usually used in this technique to get a good hold on the catch. Once they drive the daggers into the catch, they shoot up to the surface (like the way a great white will when catching a seal or large animal).

Okee!! Well the first thing that must be said is that this whole story ofmine is COMPLETELY AU and consists of all my Saiyans Headcanons mashed togetherinto one big ol’ traditional setting. Much of what I am going to present arethings that I haven’t really seen in the DBZ OC fandom, it’s literally MY OWNWORLD, so I’m sorry if things make you go: ????? all the time. This story andits characters are set in a universe where there is no P.T.O, therefore noFreeza, it’s just Saiyans being my AU Saiyans that some of you have most likelyhave seen so far!

Now there are11 Tribes that make up Vegeta-sei that I’ve created:

Someday I’llget around to explaining all of these tribes in detail, but here are the TribalCrests and tentative Map Locations as of now (the map is soon to change, butthe locations will be the same).

I’ll only betalking about 3 of these 11 tribes at the moment! The OCs I’m going to talkabout are going to be my Southern Pack. Once I do more refs and get everything organized will I maybe do this again with my other OCs :D

Here are theSOUTHERN PACK boys:

KALE:

Kale is mymain OC. He is 25 years old and is from the Azorean tribe. In personality, Kaleis a rather stoic and silent type, mature and disciplined to boot. While hedoesn’t smile all too often, he is very patient and warm around his loved ones.Kale holds an occupation as one of the many fishermen and traders within histribe. He is very well experienced in his professions and is a workaholic mostof the time. Kale is especially skilled in deep dives, swordsmanship,linguistics, and… counseling. Among his pack, Kale is responsible for keepingits members sane and supported. He is a rock for most of them and cares deeplyfor their well being.

BRUSS:

Bruss isKale’s longest known friend. He is only a few months older than Kale at 26years old and is from the Azorean tribe as well. Bruss is mute, but he has noproblem expressing his thoughts through the use of sign and body language whichhis pack can understand, Kale being the best at this. Bruss is fiercelyprotective of those he cares about, but is also the gentle giant. Hisoccupation was chosen by himself to keep close to Kale. He works as Kale’sbackbone at times, hauling large catches and when on trade runs, Bruss acts asan extra muscle and Kale’s shadow. Intimidation is key for sealing deals andwith a person of Bruss’ stature, it makes Kale’s job much easier. Whereas Kaleis the rock of the pack, Bruss is the mountain; an emotional stronghold whenneeded.

MAISON:

Maison wasthe third member of the forming pack. He is 26 years old and is from theZircontic tribe which neighbors the Azorean territory. Maison met Bruss duringmarket days when he was about 10 years old and in turn met Kale. Theybefriended each other easily and Maison moved to the Azorean tribe to keepclose to his new friends when he got older. Maison is the soul of the pack; therebel street jock with a heart of gold, but a lot to learn. He is quite rougharound the edges, not a natural born leader, but enthusiastic at all times witha crooked little smirk to match. Maison works as a blacksmith, creating toolsand weapons that are used locally for hunting and handy use. Where Maison cansometimes get the pack into trouble, Kale gets them out. Kale has a big impacton Maison’s life and way of thinking, usually leaving him with some food forthought over any actions that perhaps weren’t justified.

QUINCE:

Quince is the fourth and youngest member of that pack at a peaking 20 years old. He is originally from the Zircontic tribe like Maison and works as a delivery boy for merchants on market days. He is quite skilled in comprehending location and direction, and along with his speed, he is ideal for such a job. Because of this type of work, Quince meets new people all the time. He was around 12 years old the first time he met Kale during adolescent training and met Maison, Bruss, and again Kale when he was 18 during his deliveries in the Azorean tribe. He soon became part of the pack after hanging around them and forming pack bonds with them. Quince is quite the curious little guy! He’s very friendly and always loves learning more, being the youngest doesn’t perturb him from giving his pack ideas and taking the lead sometimes. He is the cute cinnamon bun uvu

VELIO:

Velio is the finalmember of the pack. He is the oldest member at 28 years old and is originallyfrom the Emeraldan tribe. Velio moved from his home tribe when he was 25 tofind work. In the Azorean tribe, he got himself a job as a clothing merchant,working with materials, hides, and furs to create garments and sell them withinthe tribe as well as trade them to others. He first came to know Kale. Kale wasa regular at the merchant’s shop so Velio would see him often and mend many ofthe clothes that Kale used for deep dives. Velio was soon introduced to thepack and became a significant part of it ever since. His outgoing yet chilldemeanor makes him very approachable and friendly. He is quite the brash andhonest one though and his sass isn’t hesitant to show through. He’s game foranything and, along with Maison; he’s likely to get into trouble sometimes.
