When I was in high school, there was a kid in one of my classes who, whenever the topic of music came up, would always say "you know, I don't really like music very much."

To clarify, this wasn't a "you know, I don't really listen to music very much" or "I don't really like [specific type of] music," no. He would just straight up say that he didn't like music, period.

As someone who's always been inclined towards the arts, I've always disagreed with but sort of understood the "anti-pretentious-ness" of many people who dislike a lot of art because they think it's too far up it's own ass or whatever, I disagree but I at least understand the feeling.

But to hear someone so definitively and nonchalantly say "music? that universal language that binds us all, that art form that can express every human emotion and every idea the human mind can comprehend, those sounds which can, wordlessly or in tandem with words, convey every joy and sorrow felt by the collective of mankind? nah, fuck that, I can do without it, thanks," is honestly so astonishing I can't tell whether I'm offended or impressed.

I've been watching a lot of Defunctland recently and I gotta say I absolutely love the way he'll say the funniest or most truth to power shit in a completely metered, professional academic tone. It's like when I'm reading an article about some historical figure and they read a super fucken vulgar quote but in the same detached tone, except moreso somehow?? idk. powerful aura

I really think that it’s important to remember @staff are trying to phase out custom blogs! Literally the most fun and interesting part of Tumblr and a very awesome selling point of Tumblr’s entire model.

That’s part of their whole ‘Tumblr’s not easy to use’ bullshit. They’ve been working at it for months now, you can’t even access someone’s custom blog from mobile anymore and like not even on the mobile website.

So yeah that theme and those pages you worked so hard to make unique and interesting? The webcomic hosted on Tumblr in such a way that it basically has it’s own website? The ARCHIVE of your blog that you can pretty much only access from a button on your custom blog? It’ll all go down the gutter if we don’t yell until our voices go hoarse.

This is a BLOGGING website the point of the website is THE BLOGS! I didn’t work hard to maintain my blog and keep the pages on it looking pretty for some hack at RND to decide it needs to go to make way for their ‘definitely not-Twitter’ ideal website. I swear to god the loss of our custom blogs will be the exact last straw for me and I WILL leave.
