I have a problem with Lirin’s form of pacifism. Yes, high ideals and the value of life and compassion and everything.
But also, you are able to live as a pacifist because your son will stab someone in the fucking face about it, and he’s right to do it.
And didn’t you steal like a million dollars from a dying guy? You have no moral high ground, dad. It’s your own fucked up shit that killed Tien, and now Kaladin carries the guilt that should be yours.

I don’t want a recipe that claims to be done 15 minutes. I want a recipe that tells me how to plant the asparagus and the best way to care for potatoes. I want a recipe that estimates times for a solar cooker, and describes how to butcher a rabbit.
Every recipe starts with our global food systems and how we’ve changed plants over the centuries, and anything else is just cowardice.

Also climate change. Like this is how math works — the CO2 parts per million has an effect we have understood for almost 200 years at this point. The inevitability is rolling over us but ignoring is more comfortable for everyone.
So I just do my meaningless data entry that pays for my garden, and amor fati.
Imagine you and a friend both watch someone toss a ball into the air. You're like, "Oh, it's going to come down here, so we'd better move," and your friend says, "Tch, clearly it's not coming down AT ALL," and just stands there.
Then, when the ball hits them, they're either mystified at how you figured it out, or they chalk it up to luck.
Either way, the NEXT time someone tosses a ball in the air and you tell them where it's going to fall, they're absolutely CERTAIN you're wrong THIS time, and assure you that THIS time the ball is going to stay in the air. So you get out of the way while your friend gets beaned again.
This is what it's like having autistic pattern recognition and not being taken seriously.
