My brain hurts from reading brandon sanderson books (words of radiance), so I'll take a break and read a brandon sanderson book (skyward)

every normal fantasy author goes to Q&As and they get questions like "hii i love your writing! where do you get inspiration for all your amazing worlds and characters?" and then the author will respond like "I go on frequent woods walks and I like to watch history documentaries :) it gets me really inspired" and then brandon sanderson will go to Q&As and get a question like "if you had a nicrosil compounder, could they burn the stored investiture and then store it again to generate infinite investiture? and if so, could you use that to generate infinite stormlight, provided the nicrosil compounder was also a knight radiant? and using the infinite stormlight, could you establish a perpendicularity using bondsmith powers, travel through the cognitive realm at high speed with the infinite stormlight, go to sel, and use nightblood to eat the entire Dor, permanently disabling the magic of Elantris?" and then brandon responds with "RAFO. You'll find out in Stormlight 5"

I think Sanderson’s greatest strength when writing is being able to make you initially hate a character with your whole being and then, through expanding the world and the narrative, makes those same characters fan favorites.

Rereading TWoK’s I’m reminded of how the first time I read I fucking HATED Adolin. What a dick. What an asshole. Jock. Daddy’s money ass rich boy.

Now, after reading all of Stormlight I would probably pass away if anything bad happened to him. His whimsy? Unmatched. Style? Impeccable. Aptitude for revenge? Present. He is My Little Pony (power of friendship). He’s just a horse girl that likes clubbing and making new friends.

Same thing happened for me with Susebron, TenSoon, Marsh, etc etc etc.

I feel like we all just kinda glazed over the small detail that shallan canonically has an amazing ass.. like that scene with where yalb apologized for joking abt her lower back to the other dudes, the scene where adolin tells kaladin to stop staring at her back after she walked past them.
