When someone struggles with the content of a course, it does not become a judgement of their character. The subject is not their strength, and they simply struggle to understand it. Nobody is good at everything.
But when someone struggles with the workload of a course, with punctuality and deadlines, then it becomes a judgement of their character. They are lazy and irresponsible. They have poor work ethic. It is no longer just a skill that they struggle with. It is a reprehensible flaw and they should feel bad for it.
Regardless of whether people actually say these things to the person struggling with executive disfunction, the message is internalized from a young age. And people with ADHD often grow up to think they are bad people, and to see every missed deadline and tardy as not just an academic failing, but a moral one too.
They evolved 2 different spicies. Also I completely forgot that magnoliids were even a thing. I’ve been thinking that pretty much any angiosperm I come across was gonna be either a eudicot or a monocot and all the other angiosperm groups were too small in comparison to be significant in day to day life but no. Cinnamon, avocado, and nutmeg are also magnoliids. I have like 4 different magnoliids in my kitchen rn. Also means that black pepper is more closely related to goddamn avocado than it is to chili peppers.
