I'd have an idea for a request, but only if you want.

I like to imagine that Varian is pretty dang strong, so one day the others are like "you're not THAT strong" and dare him to play tug-of-war.

Varian is less intimidated and more like "I don't want to hurt you."

Which means of course they play it.

Hugo, Nuru, Yong, Ruddiger and Prometheus are all holding one end of the rope with all their strength, sweating and trembling while Varian is just holding the rope with one hand and looks woried at them.

What do you think?

Oh I absolutely agree! I like to think before the Light Trial the team stay and help Quirin out on the farm, doing manual labour and the like. You bet at this point they'd try and prove to V that they're stronger now and again dare him into a rebattle, much to his concern and slight amusement.

This one is post!vat7k and is when both Varian and Hugo stay in the Corona castle bc like, Var works there.

I hc that Eugene and Rapunzel leave Varian in charge of the Kingdom when they leave for stuff (after they take over the throne and Raps parents step down or die or idk) bc Rapunzel makes it a point to call Varian the "*most trusted* royal engineer".

So I imagine one time when Var is left in charge he's kinda overwhelmed with all that work so Hygo helps him, and due to his background of growing up poor Hugo actually has some very good ideas on how to improve stuff in the Kingdom!

Fast forward to NewDream returning and Varian tells them about it / puts in a food word for Hugo.

One thing leads to another and Hugo eventually is the new royal advisor (this is my excuse to get rid of Nigel /hj) and I just feel he would be very good at that bc problem solving kinda comes with his street smarts and logical thinking + bc he has first hand experience being a poor orphan he probably would know good ways to help the poor kids in Corona not start a life of crime (seeing as its canon in tts that many thieves are just poor orphans who had no other options growing up)

Omg this is so cool. Imagine one day Hugo and Varian are working on the lab then Raps just kinda kicks the door down and offers Hugo the job.

Transfem Hugo: Personally I perceive ‘em as a Cis male. However, I do like seeing this is fanfiction , fanart, or other people’s headcannons. I think it’s pretty cool to see Hugo is someone else’s eyes. So yeah, I actually do love this idea. However, if I were to write the story, I would see Hugo differently.

Prosthetic Arm Hugo: This idea is also super cool, and you could make the story go with this in many different ways. Like you could have him get the prosthetic at a young age and he makes modifications to it as the story goes. Or Hugo could get it in battle and the whole gang helps to make a new prosthetic and makes it fit to his personally liking with each of their special scientific abilities involved.

For the vat7k headcanon thing, Varian HATES Hugo at first to comical degrees and is willing to do some insane shit. Like, Hugo wakes up to find that he was out in a tree and as Nuru and Yong try to get a very scared Hugo down, Varian just laughs

Bahahaha. This is hilarious. I could totally see this. But imagine after getting Hugo down, he’s so mad at Varian he makes an invention to prank him!

Varian would get so mad that he would make potions or inventions to prank him back. But eventually, when they actually kinda like each other (maybe a little more than like if y’know what I mean) they would make inventions together.

Vat7k hc!!!

Hugo is actually pretty good with kids and likes looking after Yong. He tends to read him bedtime stories (100% a Flynn rider book he stole from Varians bag) ir stay with him when he has a nightmare.

One time whilst in town, the group stats in an inn. Yong has a nightmare and Hugo stats in his room to help him calm down & read him a story.

Later Varian, who definitely works on deciphering stuff from his mom's journal until he near passes out, walks to his room and notices Yongs for is slightly open so he looks inside.

He sees Hugo asleep on the floor next to the kids bed, holding and squeezing Yongs hand comfortingly :3 (very ugly quick mock up sketch attached)

Hugo 100% would die inside of he knew Varian saw him like that / saw him being soft for the kid like that lmao

Ugh. This is so cute and so true. I could totally imagine this all throughout the trials and even afterwards if Hugo ever moved in with Varian.

Also, throughout the trials, whoever Hugo sees a couple of homeless kids on the streets, he will give some money or food. But he always did it whenever the group wasn’t watching him.
