currently working on my designs for the sanders sides mlp au…it’s taken me 16 hours and i’m not even done yet. i’ve started over like 3 times, gone through like 1000 alt versions, but the main 4 are finally done..all i need is janus and remus and then i can post them. guys. i’ve been working on this since january trying to make them PERFECTLY aligned to my vision. i’m going insane😭

expect these designs and bios soon..

any tips for newer artists? im just so impressed with your art all the time and i would love to know how you do it :)

i am by no means a professional and i’m mostly self taught so take what i say with a grain of salt lol, but here’s some tips that helped me personally!

it also rlly depends what stage you’re at but i think these are just general tips that may be helpful :)

1. experiment! it’s very important to step out of your comfort zone and i still have a lot of trouble with that one, trying new things like techniques and styles is hard, but it’s so rewarding once you start to get the hang of something new

like seriously experimenting was SO helpful to me, that’s how you discover things. especially with things like brushes, textures, layer settings, shading, don’t knock it till you try it!

2. try not to get too caught up in replicating other people’s styles or methods especially in tutorials, i would often try to copy people’s exact steps and get frustrated when i couldn’t do it, think of tutorials more as a general guide than a concrete method. put your own spin on it!

3. take inspiration from other artists you like, one thing i did was gather up lots of drawings from my favorite artists and made a list of specific elements that i liked, to try them out for myself and see what worked and what didn’t

4. don’t compare yourself to other artists, i still have trouble with this, we’re all going on our own path and comparison can really bring you down and bum you out

5. depending on what you wanna do with art, don’t take it too seriously! especially if it’s just for fun or a hobby, there’s always room to improve but remember at the end of the day you’re doing it for you and you shouldn’t d work yourself to the bone

6. have fun! be silly with it, draw whatever you want and what makes you happy, i used to hold back drawing so many things out of some fear of being ‘cringe’ but who cares! if you’re not hurting anyone draw what you want!

also i’ve gotten a lot of questions about brushes i use and how to use them so i put together this little thing to hopefully help lol

i use procreate and basically just 2 brushes, the first one is a default and the second is a free download from here!

but honestly any brushes of a similar texture will work just fine :)

can we hear out the concept of an angel 👼

since we already have a snake, what if we had like a direct ‘opposite’

with some sort of wing/bird motif of like a dove or a swan (cuz swans are very beautiful and elegant but have that pop of orange on the beak but also looks like they have scary dark eyeshadow) :3

visually he’s very soft and wears a lot of pastel robes and such, but there’s a little spice to it like some heavy black or bright orange eyeshadow, can go from 0 to 100 in a split second

(also i am absolutely obsessed with that politician idea fjsbdbsbs)

orange side costume ideas I've had bouncing around my head for a while:

1.) he's looks/acts like a politician but doesn't say anything political ex: "The cashier was rude to us the other day...I will not stand for this. We should stand up against tyranny and punch her in the FACE!!" pros are it fits with Logans aesthetic since they have some weird connection

2.) wears a lucha libre wrestling mask and has a wrestling aesthetic. no shirt just a mask and cape. the pros are we get to see Thomas with his shirt off and it could also theoretically mean someone else could play the orange side, leading to the orange side being able to touch/interact with the other sides more. I got this idea based off a dream I had so perhaps it's prophecy
