ON the topic of RE7&8 can we talk about how Ethan’s one of the most UNPREPARED protagonists in a horror game like… Ever?

Like dude went to a Random Ass farm in Louisiana on the off chance that his missing wife Might be there (cause he does admit that it could be a prank for all he knows) and comes face to face with a vhs tape showing people dying in the house he’s in, said wife going on a violent rampage resulting in him being stabbed and having his hand cut off, being force fed intestines and other grotesque stuff by a family he’s never even met but knows him, having said family try to kill him NUMEROUS times, while going off about “being part of the family” that’s trying to Murder him, having to go on a scavenger hunt on the off chance that whatever he’s finding could possibly help out Mia and then at the end of it all has to kill a Giant Mold Monster.

And, while he seems more prepared in RE8 with military training and gun books he’s still WAY in over his head with his Baby daughter getting kidnapped and dealing with the Lords who drink blood, antagonize him with hallucinations of his supposedly dead wife, a fetus monster thingy, a gross sludge monster with mommy issues, a dude with metal powers and Even MORE mommy issues, said “mommy” that kidnapped his daughter in the First place ripping out his heart and learning he’s been DEAD since the Baker incident 3 years prior.

Like damn dude could NOT catch a break!

I was remembering RE7&8 and something I find Hysterical is that the Entire Winters family is just here to kick ass and take names.

Like Mia was already working for Umbrella but was balls to the walls in that one tape Evelin shows her when the ship blows up and then when she’s alone on the ship, infection starting to take over again she’s still kickin ass and is looking for Ethan.

Then we have Ethan the man himself who just went to Louisiana to find his wife but then ends up just killing an Entire family all while basically giving zero fucks and then has to do the whole thing Again when a crazy lady kidnaps his daughter and tries to use her to reincarnate her own dead daughter. Ethan once again just Murdering these lords just to get to Miranda.

And finally their daughter Rose who has these badass powers and just blasting her way through these mold memory creatures before using those powers to Absolutely kick Miranda’s ass after she tries to use Rose to reincarnate her dead daughter AGAIN

Rewatching Arcane and I’ll never get over the fact that there is no indication that Caitlyn returns to Piltover to get paperwork to break Vi out, doubled with the fact that Jayce clearly had no idea she had done so, which means while she’s still healing from the bomb attack she ran away from home, impersonated an officer (dressing as an enforcer despite being freshly fired) and brought paperwork with her with the intent of forgery originally just to hopefully get a name from a prisoner because she was obsessively overconfident of the fact she’s a better detective than anyone else. Absolutely tickles me.

Idk why people were complaining that the PJO show didn’t have like Hunger Games levels of action/violence. Cause even as BOOKS these two were meant for different audiences Anyways. PJO was meant for middle schoolers (9-14ish)/ being TV-PG and Hunger Games was meant for High Schoolers (12-17ish)/ being PG-13.

I get that a Lot of people wanted the show to age up it’s material because most of the fan base are in their 20s now but that just Wasn’t gonna happen. It’s still children’s media no matter how you put the mirror to it. Hell even the Movies were rated PG cause the violence of Medusa had like zero gore and they didn’t show Gabe actually being turned to stone.

I’m sorry, that’s just the way it is.

Also anyone bringing up Sea of Monsters now that Season 2s been announced “get off my roof” or whatever the quote is wasn’t very funny to Begin with. The delivery is incredibly dry and the line seems like one they’d add a laugh track after if this was a comedy show.

Ok I’m gonna make a longer post discussing this later but the live action ATLA is taking a beating even Before it’s airing. Like there was always going to be a “it’s not as good” thing with it cause the og creators left a WHILE ago but now we’re hearing “oh we’re not making Sokka sexist cause that’s ‘too offensive’ now” honey, they gave Sokka Character development because he acted this way in the beginning of the show. Hell if it weren’t for his egregious sexism towards his sister in the First episode pissing her off they wouldn’t have found Aang in the first place.

Someone needs to tell these companies that there’s a difference between “getting rid of problematic stereotypes” (most old Disney stuff with poc and indigenous people) and “making sure problematic characters getting proper character development where they learn that said behavior isn’t okay” (basically everything that I said with Sokka before)

Because the way this is going we’re getting M. Night Shamalan levels of quality just with better cgi for the bending.

ok look, I have my own issues with the Mean Girls musical like the product placement, the songs sounding incredibly weird (truthfully i think that has to do with the actress for Cady not being the right fit (mostly her not having the right voice range or lung support for the songs) and they had to adjust her songs cause of this and had to do the same with the rest of the soundtrack so there's not whiplash switching from song to song if that makes sense. but this is in no case a stab at the actress, the songs in Mean Girls are NUTORIOUSLY difficult to sing as it is, and Ranee Rapp sounds good is cause she's already held this role on Broadway before, she has experience.), some of the camera shots being Incredibly weird (I'm gonna let the Revenge Party scene speak for itself on that one). but we are NOT even for a SECOND about to start saying "Mean Girls 2 is better" cause I'll take the obnoxious brand placement before "Do I look like most girls?" ANY DAY. Cause Mean Girls 2 feels like a bad Dcom movie, and I mean Princess Protection Program levels of BAD. The characters are incredibly bland, Jo has Insane levels of internal misogyny its off the charts, the movie loses the entire Point of what Mean Girls was originally about (as in there's No room for subtlety, it feels like they treat their audience as dumb girls like you can't make them think too hard about nuance but at the same time it tries to make a message of girls are just as good as boys etc.), like I could go on and on and on about WHY that movie is so bad even in comparison to the musical.

I was watching a video of someone breaking down the lyrics of Wish and why fundamentally they don’t work; but the whole thing angers me because it Could have worked if they just went with their original idea to Begin with. I’ve mentioned before that they should have gone with Star Boy but the songs in Wish REALLY emphasize WHY that sentiment rings true. Because “At All Costs” was SUPPOSED to be a duet between Asha and Star Boy because the whole thing sounds like a lovers lullaby and him wanting to love Asha “as a human does” per say. But now it’s just Asha and Magnifico singing to a bunch of crystal balls which loses most of the emphasis that song was trying to portray in the First place (not to mention how Stupid it is that the wishes are just crystal balls like this is where the 2d animation would have stood out).

Now, “I’m a Star!” Just needs to be entirely scrapped and reworked cause they could have used the song to show how Star Boy thinks and feels about things upon his initial introduction cause I’d presume that Star Boy would probably be someone very upbeat and excitable, but incredibly naïve about how the world works at the same time.

And “This is the Thanks I Get?!” COULD have really worked if they went with this plan as well cause Magnifico is supposed to be feeling unappreciated and disrespected and if Asha were his daughter and going against him cause of her feelings for Star Boy and how Magnifico was handling the wishes then That makes sense. But in the film we got, the town already seems to respect him and he doesn’t really have a reason for the way he acts which is why his switch to villain seems so abrupt.

Also the lyrics, rhythm and cadence would need a Drastic change but that would probably be Disney needing to just fire Julia Michaels and going with someone who’s Profession is making lyrics for Musical Theater instead of pop songs cause all these lyrics are just “ohh wishes!” “Ohhh stars!” And whatnot instead of building up Anything narratively. (Cause even though Lin Manuel Miranda has kinda become a meme at this point he still Knows how lyrics should build a story. Except for the Scuttlebutt but that’s just a one off thing that was truly Terrible). But hey, this is just me ranting on something that I should be letting go at this point but whatever 🤷‍♀️

(Also it bothers me that Disney was like “oh we can’t have Asha have a romantic interest in 2023 how can we show she’s a strong lead in 2023 if there’s a love interest!” Even though there’s Plenty of ways to do that with the two building off each other in a natural way and the fact that Asha doesn’t really have a character arc Anyways and her being Magnifico’s daughter would have made this work as well cause she’d have to choose between her feelings for Star Boy and going against her parents wishes just UHG I’m so pressed can someone make a Wish fixed fanfic so I can read that instead please?! WHO in the HELL is in charge of casting for the Last of Us Season 2?! Because WTF IS this?! ykw? I feel like being controversial today. The Casino Scene from the PJO movie is overrated, and there's Zero chance a scene like that is happening in the show (Yes Poker Face is Amazing and all but yall are just blindsighted). and not just cause the scene is inaccurate to the book, or that Rick has said he doesn't want anything to do with said movies, it's that these are 12 year old Children who won't be getting "high" off lotus flowers and gambling. and reading comments on a lot of these videos it feels like none of yall have been to a casino like at ALL. as someone who lives in the gambling state, there are little arcade areas in casinos for children almost Everywhere (ESPECIALLY in Vegas), one of the casinos even having a small theme park inside one of them. so its not unrealistic that the kids would end up there, cause if an adult saw them they'd probably just assume that their parents were gambling.

And to the people who are mad that the show is more childlike now, the book came out in '05, the movie in '10. Times have changed and there's a lot of things that passed as "childrens entertainment" that probably wouldn't be made today. a show doesn't need to be gory or sexy to be a good show. all that lies with the writing and acting.

I was thinking about people on my feed saying "If you're an influencer/youtuber its inevitable that you're gonna be a groomer" and honestly, that's bullshit. if you're a popular influencer and are acting weird with your young audience that's a YOU problem. cause there's a fundamental difference between acting nice to your younger audience and making inappropriate moves on them. cause there's a lot of youtubers who's majority of fans are young or started watching them when they were young, and weren't met with weird shit.

I really really really love how the show is depicting Gabe. In the books, Percy doesn't think much about Gabe - he sucks, he's a dick, and he's smelly. He doesn't understand why his mom stays with her, but he doesn't put too much thought into the ins-and-outs of the relationship. It's not until the end of the book that he realizes that Gabe's been actually hitting Sally.

And so the time we spend with Gabe at the start...

This is supposed to be his and Sally's apartment, Sally's the only one who brings in income, but the whole house is Gabe's. Only the one chair in front of the TV, even though Gabe said that he and Sally watch the Knicks together. His trash is all over the house, his poker table was leaning up against the wall... And he obviously feels like he is entitled to touch anything in the apartment, up to and including things that are explicitly Sally's:

And then, when Sally tells Gabe that she and Percy are going on their trip to Montauk...

He goes into the conversation expecting a bribe, and Sally already has one prepared. This is obviously a song and dance they've done plenty of times before.

Because abusive relationships rarely, if ever, look horrible from the outside. And they're not absolutely awful 100% of the time, either. Most abusers aren't cartoonish villains, nor are they awful to their spouses with every word they say. Abuse is often subtle, hard to notice, only clear in retrospect and when you consider a lot of instances of horrible behavior beside each other.

This version of Gabe Ugliano isn't as obvious an abuser, but he is more true-to-life - taking advantage of Sally, invading her privacy, the understanding that she won't be allowed to do something for herself and her son without his tacit approval.
