it’s insane to me that people are painting the protestors at columbia and yale as “anti-war.” in fact they are very much pro-war! they have cheered for iranian missiles and hamas rockets, shouted “october 7th will be every day” and “burn tel aviv to the ground.” they don’t want the war to end, they just want the side they support to succeed in killing more jews. absent that, they themselves are happy to harass and physically assault local jews that they can get their hands on.

Yes!! This reminds me of when my chemistry professor walked into class at the beginning of the semester with a Kippah, Tzitzit, etc. and I just felt so safe and happy since he was unafraid to be Jewish and proud in an environment that can grow hostile.
You know that feeling when you're in a space and you see someone visibly queer like you and you just feel joy and peace and safety, just seeing someone like you out in public?
I was walking out of the pharmacy today and passed by an elderly couple walking in arm in arm. The man was wearing a kippah.
And the second I saw this visibly Jewish couple, I just immediately smiled the brightest smile I've felt all week. An immediate surge of joy and peace.
And something must have registered with them too, seeing a man like me, disheveled and drenched from rain and clearly having a day, suddenly light up at their sight, because they smiled right back.
We exchanged our "hello's" and "have a good day's" and I'm still thinking about them.
About how they must have been in their eighties. Maybe not Holocaust survivors themselves, but so close in time that they would remember almost the entirety of Jewish history from then up till now. And how brave it is to be openly Jewish these days. And they're in their eighties and clearly in love and openly Jewish and so alive.
I love that.

It’s actually insane how some of you justify your antisemitism. And yes, this time I’m specifically talking about being anti-Israel.
When Israel is attacked by Hamas, it’s their fault for retaliating. When is Israel is attacked by Iran, it’s ok because it’s retaliation. When Israel calls out the UN for being unhelpful, they’re getting what they deserve. When Israel asks the UN to step up, it’s a sad cry for help.
THEY CAN’T ATTACK, THEY CAN’T DEFEND, THEY CAN’T ASK FOR HELP, THEY CAN’T CONDEMN TERRORISTS, WHAT CAN THEY DO?? BE BLOWN TO BITS??? IS THAT WHAT YOU’RE WAITING FOR? WHAT MAKES ISRAEL SO SPECIAL??
It is no coincidence that Israel can’t do anything right and that it houses 7 million Jewish refugees. It’s the oldest excuse in the book. “It’s just the zionists!” Israeli children are children, too. They have no better of a concept of Zionism than you, and yours is scarce. Zionism IS LITERALLY ABOUT JEWS.
Just say you won’t be happy until half the world’s Jews are dead. It’s a lot better to be an antisemite when you’re comfortable with your identity.

I would love to see religious Jews in Star Trek. I would love to see a bridge officer commanding while wearing a long skirt and a mitpachat. I would love to see another bridge officer wearing tzitzit under his uniform and a kippah. I would love to see him wrap tefilin before going to his post. I would love to hear someone offhand mention how those officers both can’t operate their replicators on Saturdays. I would love to see them search for the chabad house on every planet or starbase they visit. I would love to see them say Kaddish for fallen comrades. I would love to see them davening on the Holodeck (except for shabbos). I would love hearing them sing “Gesher Tzar Me’od” while their crew mates look on joyfully confused.
I would love to see at least a few of those things some day
