Goys have this tendency to imagine that Jews (especially Jewish children) yearn for Christmas. That there's a gaping hole in our hearts that only Christmas spirit can fill and we deny ourselves of it. THIS ISNT TRUE AND IT'S A TYPE OF FETISHIZATION. LIFE ISNT A HALLMARK MOVIE. Jews and others that don't celebrate Christmas live fulfilling, happy, rich lives that wouldn't be improved by tinsel.

So PMS-y and emotional right now that I just looked up pictures of trees and started tearing up because I just love trees so much.

I have a fig tree and a pomegranate tree in my backyard and it may be the hardest part of this house to leave behind.

As someone who grew up on Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret & Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
I wouldve expected the rise of antisemitism, hatred and fascism to have WAY more musical numbers.

hallelujah by leonard cohen has been stuck in my head for days but like specifically the verse:
“You say I took the name in vain, I don't even know the name, But if I did, well, really, what's it to ya? There's a blaze of light in every word, It doesn't matter which you heard, The holy or the broken Hallelujah”
is just so. wow like. it’s so intrinsically jewish and so special to me
and i’m going to have to listen to people using this as a christmas song

Is there anything more Jewish than a meal where eighty percent of the time rather than eat you read an old text and argue over it?

Anyways like. I’m not really feeling the conversation about “traditional Jewish features.” Because. What.
1. Every time someone tries to list what these features are they come across pretty sus
2. Not all Jews have the same physical features, even within regional groups. My great grandfather was 100% Ashki and he was blonde with blue eyes.
3. I very rarely use looks as a way to spot other Jews in the wild. It’s not as relevant as people think.
4. We are in an era where Hollywood has decided that non-Jews “look” more Jewish than some actual Jews.
If you put Katerina McCrimmon in front of me and asked me if she was Jewish my response would probably be “maybe? I don’t know.”
Because this is not about looks. The issue is more about authentic representation of a cultural and ethnoreligious group. A non jew doesn’t know what it *feels* like to be Jewish. That’s what I’m thinking about.

The best piece of jewish representation is in x men apocalypse when Erik talks to a dude that claims to be God and the first thing he asked him is "Where the fuck were you during the holocaust???"
The movies get a lot of things wrong about Erik but I don't think a single Jew would ask a different question and I honestly respect that choice

Rabbis who've studied Judaism all their life: "But again, I am just a human. I can't possibly know everything and this is all my understanding. There is no limit to how much you can learn about Judaism, so there's always more I can learn and more perspectives I can discover."
Goyim on the internet: "Here's what all Jews believe, based on my very thorough research of 'watched Fiddler on the Roof once', and here's why I know more about Judaism than you silly Jews."

Ok but Marvin's victory shower is such beautiful Jewish symbolism. It's a mikveh (ritual bath)! Washing is very meaningful in Jewish culture, and it's common to visit a mikveh after overcoming something painful to symbolize a fresh start. Just as the waters of the mikveh welcome Jewish converts home, they welcome Marvin into queerness!!

I love the Jewish cooking experience because our recipes are split 50/50 between “so delicious and emotionally fulfilling I might cry” and “we lost our bubbe’s recipe box and all the salt 3 pogroms ago and we’ve never recovered”
