I swear by the early hours of the day
And the night when it covers with darkness
Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased
And surely what comes after is better for you than that which has gone before

“WITH GREAT POWER, COMES GREAT NEED TO TAKE A NAP”
fem!nico
nicoletta di angelo (like many other half bloods) hadn’t had the greatest of childhoods. after being born in the 1920s, living in a magical hotel for 70 years then learning she was the daughter of the greek god of the underworld, led to what some may call - an overwhelming amount of teenage angst. losing her brother, summoning an army of the undead, saving the world and harbouring a crush on a certain daughter of poseidon meant that nicoletta really didn’t have the most normal of upbringings.

Hey guys!
follow me on goodreads!
It’s getting super close to when I’m supposed to be moving in to college and as per usual whenever I’m preparing for a big change in my life my to-read list becomes massive! No worries though because I actually have a good list of books that I’m either gonna read for the first time or re-reads that I think can help me in the world of adulting and going to college. These are the books I’m planning to read before college:
The financial diet: I love watching the financial diet on youtube and I browsed through their new book that they have in barnes and nobles and it seems pretty interesting and not too financial and stuffy, like I would need a cup of coffee to get through, so i’m gonna pick this one up for some everyday, real life financial advice.
The life changing magic of tidying up: I’ve read this one before and it absolutely changed my life, ever since then my mind has been cleared and my space actually stays tidy for way longer, but since i’m gonna be moving to college ( and to a different country)  and have to downsize, i figured and i would read this book again for moral support while i declutter and consolidate my life.
Rich dad poor dad: another re-read this summer because I cannot sing the praises of this book enough. I’m gonna need this one to remind me that buying a car isn’t an asset when you’re a broke college student (it’s gonna be hard cuz i’m lazy and love convenience lol)
Broke millennial: very similar to the financial diet. its an urban, young woman (or man’s) guide to just getting your financial shit together. If you cant tell i’m into these more fun financial books.
Profit first: I don’t know much about this one (except that its finance and business related) but I heard someone on a podcast I listen to rave about it and say it was one of the books that made a huge difference in how he approached finance and business, so of course I decided that I have to pick it up!
Lean in: women, work and the will to lead: ok so this one is a bit of a doozy for me because I don’t think women should need a book particularly for them in leadership (its kinda condescending IMO) but of course the reality is leadership for women in the workplace is different and its important that we not only address why that is but to learn how to deal with this while it’s happening also. I hope this book give me some insight into that since its so highly rated, I’ll keep you guys posted.
The immortal life of Henrietta lacks : Again, I don’t know much about this book, but the blurb sounds super inspirational like it’s going to be about womanhood and perseverance and as black person moving to the united states I figure it would be a fitting and inspirational read.
A mind for number: how to excel at math and science: nuff said lol. I’m not a math person at all ( science I can deal with) and I’m starting to think I have such a mental block against it that it will forever be a roadblock in my educational path, so I’ve decided that I’m hopefully not going to college with this issue and this book is highly rated so fingers crossed it helps ya girl out.
Dear Ijeawele: if you don’t know this book was written by Chimamanda Adichie and ugh, her mind is just so powerful. Her thoughts on feminism are so concise and inspirational, i just have to read this book again before i go to college.
Quiet: the power of introverts in a world that won’t stop talking: ok so this book has been on my tbr for freaking ever and I finally decided that I MUST read it before I go to college, if there’s ever a time in my life where I need to know how to wield my introvertness to my benefit rather than being crippled by it, its now.
So there’s my before college tbr, its quite ambitious but I have about 2 months of free time (lol this was written in June!) to read these and hopefully get all the inspiration and motivation I need to have a kickass first year of college. Remember I haven’t read most of these so if you read any of them and have any opinions please message me! I hope guys have a lovely day.

Types of people - hogwarts houses
Slytherin - leather jackets, determined all nighters, taking short cuts you’re not 100% sure are right, overconfidence to hide insecurity, ‘I mean it’s only technically illegal’, has never paid for music or movies, swears an ungodly amount, plans everything carefully
Ravenclaw - googling random stuff at 3am, staring at the moon, asking yourself stupid questions, staying inside, reading ‘one more chapter’, messy bookshelves, charity shops, fancy coffee, too critical of themselves, spends all their money on junk
Hufflepuff - helping wild animals, values politeness over everything, prefers comfy clothes over style, hot chocolate > coffee, takes pictures of everything, you wanna just squeeze their little cheeks and keep them in your pocket, wants pets so bad
Griffindor - reading true stories online and always wishing you could help, calling people out when they do something wrong, signing petitions, having the last word, supporting friends, if you say they can’t do something they will do it 10x more

“EVEN STRENGTH HAS TO BOW DOWN TO WISDOM SOMETIMES”
 male!annabeth
an unforgiving father mixed with an absent greek goddess mother made andre run at 8 years old. after seeing one of his best friends die 2 metres from the safest place for them, his life was never the same again. add a daughter of poseidon, a great prophecy and a troubled crush that went on to cause a massive war - some may say he’s been through a lot.

“IT’S NOT THE WORK THAT’S HARD, IT’S THE DISCIPLINE”
they may not be the strongest fighters, the smartest strategists or the perfect craftsmen but the aphrodite cabin bring the one attribute the others of camp half-blood could never bring; grace.
with their mother the patron of love, most of the cabin are beautifully gifted in the art of ballet with classes being held every week to gain knowledge in the timeless artistry and wonder that is the everlasting french expression of beauty, grace and love.

“DON’T FEEL BAD, I’M USUALLY ABOUT TO DIE” fem!percy look, she didn’t want to be a half-blood. it was bad enough she was named after the greek goddess of flowers when she wasn’t as delicate as her namesake. all persephone jackson wanted was to make it through yancy academy for just one year to fix the stream of luck she had had at her past several schools. her mum didn’t deserve the panic of finding various schools for her each year. all it took was another school trip going south to change her life forever. genderswap!pjo - 2/?

“DON’T STAY IN ONE PLACE TOO LONG. IT WAS THE ONLY WAY TO STAY AHEAD OF THE SADNESS”
fem!leo
leona didn’t stay in one place for very long. whether that was crap foster homes, even crappier foster parents or the wilderness school. hey, she wasn’t going to run - she had made a few friends - but when her best friend jaysen wakes up with no memory of who she is, then she starts to panic. after a guy looking for his missing girlfriend shows up on a trip to the grand canyon, and she finds out her gift of handling fire comes from her greek dad, she realises she may be special in more ways then one.

For all those assholes who think that Confederate statues should be left up in America because “it’s a part of your history”, you don’t ever see fucking statues of Nazis in Germany. It’s part of their history, but they know that what happened was terrible and they know statues shouldn’t commemorate such horrors.
Can you imagine the backlash there would be if someone suggested erecting a statue of a Nazi in Germany? You’d get arrested for being a sympathizer. Any statue would be torn down. And so it should.
Fuck I know there’s so much more but i just want to get this simple fucking concept across and through your thick skulls.
WE SHOULDN’T CELEBRATE THE DARK PARTS OF OUR HISTORY. WE SHOULD LEARN FROM IT.

just a reminder because of recent events, but this blog stands 100% behind POC, jewish people, the LGBT community, BLM, Antifa, and stands against those who would do minorities harm. If you aren’t infuriated by what happened in charlottesville, you should probably unfollow me right now.

i would be really concerned if hearing nazis’ hate speech and seeing their swastika flags and their hitler quote shirts didn’t light an angry flame within you that makes you want to do shit like fly to charlottesville and punch a nazi. but anti-semitism will not be cured with your text posts. nothing you say on the internet will be revolutionary enough to stop the hate that people have inside them, which is why you need to focus on making actual political/social change. put pressure on our president to condemn nazism. boycott businesses that won’t do the same. donate to organizations in the area that help jews, pocs, and other marginalized groups. if you can’t do that, just please send your thoughts and prayers. if you care (which you should) DO something about it.

Nazis advocating for the murder of Jews in the streets is a “free speech” issue in the same way a mob carrying flaming torches is a “candlelit vigil.”
