This one goes to all the women in Gaza and around the world
I am supposed to be writing about mental health and child development but I feel a hurricane of thoughts forming in my head and I need to let it out. I am done with men in suits leading the world to madness. I want mothers in politics, I want diversity in how we approach conflict and problem solving. I cannot live with the unbearable thought of a mother holding her child’s cold body. I cannot…

Remembrance Day
The 11th of November marks the end of hostilities during the First World War and an opportunity to recall all those who have served in Canada’s defence. Remembrance Day reminds us of war and military sacrifice, allows us to honor the fallen, but also reminds us of the horror of war and urges us to embrace peace.  I have observed this glorious day for four years in a row, wearing the red or white…

Collective consciousness and the somatic being
I howled like a broken wolf yesterday as I thought of all the children that have been killed, all the parents that have been lost and all the dreams that have been brought to dust. I held my baby close to my heart as I counted my blessings and wished her to be protected from human hatred and sickness of the mind. I looked at her sparkly eyes filled with joy and I envied her not being hooked yet…

A homeland allegory
A paranoid, a psychopath, a fascist, a narcissist and a murderer walked into a bar. They played pool and darts and got drunk until they started fighting over who cheated but the fighting ended up eventually to be about who truly had the bigger biceps. They drank some more and broke windows and chairs, attacked the bar person , put a bullet in the waiter’s head and burned down the entire place…

PTSD at an American airport
PTSD at an American airport
A Canadian student from Lebanese origins was banned to enter the States. Upon her arrival to SFO in March 2021, Eliane had no idea that the most traumatic hours of her life lied ahead. Eliane had spent a semester in San Diego, pursuing studies and doing some volunteer work. During the first Covid-19 lockdown, courses were put on hold, and Eliane left the States to Lebanon so she could spend some…

Do you know about seasonal depression?
Do you know about seasonal depression?
Seasons carry charms and beauty while setting a certain pace to life on Earth. Have you wondered about seasonal changes and their impact on humans?
We do have seasons for a reason. Changes in the air lead to drastic changes in nature’s ecosystems. Animals and plants adapt their life routines and behaviours dependently from all the seasons. Some hibernate in winter, some loose leaves, some…

How to tell if you need therapy?
How to tell if you need therapy?
Here is a familiar scene to help you visualize the point of this article:
– “Therapy? no thanks, this is not for me but I can tell a friend. I’m fine, I do not have a mental illness.
-“Okey but you do not need to be at your lowest to see a therapist. I’ve heard you talking about sleep issues, excessive worrying and a loss of overall motivation and happiness. This is enough symptoms to talk…

Stress makes you sick and this is how.
Stress makes you sick and this is how.
Stress is the most unwanted visitor because it overstays its time. The nature of stress and its impact on our health is our topic here. today.
Let’s go back in time just to when the dinosaurs became extinct. Our species first ancestors had to survive in a mostly hostile environment and specific skills were needed. Skills like fighting, hiding and running away, allowed the most vigilant people

I appreciate all the concerned messages I got from all over the world and all the #love. My friends and #family are thankfully "physically" fine. Their properties have been partially or completely destroyed. They are all under extreme #shock and #fear. The streets are filled with #terror and hospitals are overwhelmed. Crazy times in #Lebanon this year. The explosion happened in #Beirut port leading sadly to so many casualties and terror. The port is destroyed along with the storage of #food that was waiting to be put on market. If you would like to help, please consider donating to small #NGO s in Lebanon or sending money to families and individuals. I also started a fundraiser to cover #therapy sessions for those on the verge of killing themselves. The fundraiser link is in the bio. Contact me for more details. A CALL FOR #CANADIANS, #LEABANESEDIASPORA AND FRIENDS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD 🛑🛑🛑 My #homeland is falling through the rabbit hole and my people are facing the most challenging year in their history. #2020 hasn't been kind to anyone but Lebanon is facing a major #economiccrisis. The Lebanese pound has lost almost 80% of its value and with the #covid19 #pandemic, the country is still under #lockdown. Businesses closed, people were laid off and swinter is expected to be cruel. Lebanon has 4 million citizens out of which 70% or more are facing extreme #poverty. Young and educated people are facing sdespair and #suicide rates are on the rise. This campaign is to raise money to cover professional #mentalhealth therapy to those willing to take the step. People are paying for food and housing and therapy is not considered a survival essential. They simply cannot afford it. Help me raise money to cover as many sessions as possible for as many individuals as possible. PLEASE DONATE AND HELP SPREAD THE WORD. FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN LEBANON NEED US. Link in bio. Thank you all for the love. (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDewFq5pri9/?igshid=o0t2m64z9i2m

An American senior man gives his testimonial.
I was contacted a few days ago on Instagram by Anthony, a man in his sixties from the States. He was commenting on my article Angry men. One comment lead to another and Anthony shared his story. This is his testimonial with his own words, edited by Astoryofthoughts.
” I was a child in a sib-ship of 8 who was brought up in an outlaw biker’s house. I experienced many unhealthy episodes while…
