Kakuhida Fanfic Appreciation Post

I'm relatively new to the fandom. It was really funny that I picked up the Naruto series years after I watched it for the first time in middle school. Orochimaru was the one and only mighty boss back then as I recalled hahaha and how times flies!

Then, you know, just three months into watching Naruto Shippuden, the next thing I know is that I already produced a 20k kakuhida fanfiction (and it even has a sequel that's still WIP)

Let me take some time here to appreciate all the remarkable writers on Ao3! Thank you guys for your lovely works! They indeed brought me tremendous amount of joy.

I love love Hardly Eternity which is so beautifully written and I read it about three times already. The fluffy ending and Hidan POV in the sequel are so amazing.

Lowering our Coffins is another classic I guess. The ending (no spoilers here) is so shockingly beautiful and just epic really.

Bound is just so short and sweet. I always love Kakuzu's monsters and them being with Hidan is just awwwwww

Is it life or art? seriously got me in love with AUs which I don't normally fancy. That is a true piece of work which deserves many kudos and comments. The fascinating adaptions of taking Akatsuki and other Naruto characters into the London Art world left me in awe. I love nothing more than fanfictions being able to simulate original plots in the canon from a fresh angle.

Talking about AU, I really want to highlight one hidden gem, Mad world. I still couldn't stop thinking about that dark humor old british sitcom-styled fic! It reminds me of "The young ones" where the remarkable duo of Rick Mayall and Ade Edmondson also portrayed a pair of whimsical complaining fanatic and his violent-loving partner/friend with anger issues.

Seriously, you guys may want to check both the fic and the sitcoms out if you're into that kind of thing.

Annnnnd, it's interesting to see how people from different cultural background would usually portrait kakuhida relationship. I'm not gonna say which is better because since we're all fanfiction writers, you should certainly know that although there is indeed good writing and bad writing, but there's never such thing as good idea and bad idea.

I do fancy seeing them as equals both emotionally and physically, instead of one clinging to another constantly for emotional support. They are both cold-hearted S Rank rogue ninjas in a turbulent world so I guess this idea makes some sense (that's not saying the other ways don't!)

I just love love how Tumblr usually portraits Hidan as the horny and audacious one and Kakuzu as the weary grownup who has to take Hidan seriously hahaha

Hidan fled from Akatsuki and Kakuzu all of a sudden with no signs shown before. And Kakuzu had to hunt him down and sort him out (I mean destroy) under Pein's order. It was not a pleasant journey since he lost four hearts. But you got to see Hidan's family who are running a hot spring hotel and found out something about Kakuzu's past as well. There's lot of flashbacks about their time spent together when in Akatsuki. And Hidan turned into a geisha briefly by Kakuzu for camouflage haha

It's in Chinese so you're warned. I don't usually have the energy to write fics longer than 10k in English or other language that's not my mother tone.

There aren’t many of these, I’m afraid, but I’ve been studying The Great Gatsby for my english class (who hasn’t) and as soon as we got into the conversation about Nick’s sexuality… let me just tell you right now, that man was NOT straight. Anyway, here’s a couple of wonderful fics I read where Nick is categorically not straight!
