Life update - October 2023
Hello everyone! Author of Paw Prints, and Afterlife here! I wanted to come on here because I’ve gotten some messages and asks as to why I have not posted recently or updated any of my stories in a bit. In all honesty I meant to answer sooner but life has just seemed to get in my way. I wanted to be honest with everyone since people seem to genuinely enjoy my stories. (Which I appreciate you all so much 🙏🏻) so here’s a quick update in my life as to why I haven’t been posting.
* I have had some financial difficulties in my family and we got behind on multiple bills. Stress has become a daily issue. Writing was a stress reliever but it got even so bad that I couldn’t find the time or will to write. Depression is a hoe ✊🏻
*my laptop took a crap on me. I had the final part to paw prints all written out! I was going to post and my computer froze! I tried everything to get it to work and then suddenly I tried again the other day to get to it and my computer has completely deleted my account so any and all documents I had are GONE. I tried to recover with google docs but apparently they had not synced my final part so I’ll have to completely re-write that one. 😩 also see first point as to why I haven’t been able to get a new laptop, I’m a broke bitch <3
*I was served foreclosure papers for our home. As stated in the beginning we had some financial difficulties and got behind. I tried to avoid this process however the bank was unhelpful in this situation. I was able to accumulate the funds needed to entirely pay the house up to current, however the bank DENIED my payments and would rather put my family on the street than allow me to pay the house current out of foreclosure.
*I am taking additional steps to prevent losing my home that has taken my full energy/attention so I have not been really up to/able to respond to some of the requests I have gotten. Typing up full stories on my phone doesn’t sound too appealing so I’m going to try and fix my laptop or aquire a new one some way soon hopefully. Anyway.
In conclusion it really felt like when I started writing my life went downhill and some people say it’s a curse of a writer that things will go wrong once you start. It seems to be true in my case anyway. I really hope I can get the finale to Paw prints out soon and another chapter of Afterlife. I even had an October short story planned out for our Bakugo/Slasher lovers that I wrote in my head during a road trip a stretch of really dark road. I still plan to get that out soon if possible even if I do have to just type it all on my phone.
I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding with me even if some of the requests or asks about why I am not posting were a bit snarky in nature I tend to turn the other cheek as it were and explain that life circumstances happened.
Thank you for everyone’s continued support of my stories and I hope to get back to posting soon.

NSFW Part
Summary: Katsuki has been acting off lately and you have zero idea why. A certain redhead has news for you and looks like you'll be getting your exercise in for the next few days.
Warnings: Minors DNI! 18+ SMUT! Reader is has female anatomy, hand around throat, use of pet names (princess, pretty girl etc.), oral (female rec), vaginal, fingering, Knotting (Katsuki's a cat-hybrid), slight stalking/feeling of being hunted (again, cat-hybrid), heat cycles, Virginity loss (katsuki), breeding kink, talks about making reader a mom, Edging.
A/N: Alright! Here's the smut I promised. Now please understand this is my first attempt with NSFW so if it's clunky or bad please go easy on me! Also note I really didn't throw anything in here that you would HAVE to read the story for this could be a stand alone. Just the only thing to note is Karishma is a Hybrid too which is why he knows all about what's going on. This is also longer than I thought it was going to be. Oh well.
The sunlight broke through the curtains, bright beacons lighting up your world into the early morning air. Your eyes fluttered open slowly, heavy with fights from your lack of sleep the last evening. Katsuki had become reclusive in the last 24 hours, opting to sleep in his spare bedroom than your own as he had grown accustomed to during your new relationship.
Though the coupling itself was only a few weeks old, his absence had been missed beside you. The warmth that radiated from his body cocooning you so much that you have to stick your leg out to escape the heat, loose the blanket completely or turn on a fan to counteract the sauna that your covers had become. You wouldn't trade a moment for it though, the way his fingers ran along your skin at random times, his nose nuzzling into your hair when he thought you were dead to the world, soft murmurs of how he felt against your ear. Even the soft little twitches of his ears when he would bury his face into your shoulder blades, the tips of the appendages flicking against the back of your neck.
Now that you had woken from your fitful sleep, you rose from the cold covers and let your toes touch the equally chilly floor. A slight hiss left your lips for a brief second, then when used to the feeling, left the bed to find a nice cup of wake up juice. Shuffling down the hall in your night clothes; a tank top skewed that you had fixed twice now, and shorts barely clinging to your rear matched the messed bedhead hair you had yet to find the energy to fix. You were quite the vision this morning to anyone up before the birds to see.
A new sound made you pause in your shuffle, a soft whine of discomfort sounded from the bedroom Katsuki had been occupying. Silence followed for a moment as you listened, contemplating if you had just heard things in your tired state. As the sound came once again you leaned in to place an ear up against the wood door, Was Katsuki having a nightmare? Were you okay to check on him? He didn't seem upset with you when he declared he would be sleeping alone, barely giving you a reason other than "Don't argue."
A louder groan sounded from the room and you chose to take initiative and check on the half feline man inside. Knocking softly you called his name and asked if he was alright. Silence was your reply for some time until you tried again.
"Katsuki? Are you okay? I'm going to come in."
A loud thump sounded against the door when you tried to jiggle the handle. "No!"
You stepped back with a gasp, No?
"Katsuki, sweetheart. If you had a nightmare that's okay. I just want to make sure you are not hurt in any way."
His low grown was the only sound that came through until small scratching could be heard against the wood.
"Katsuki you better not be scratching my door, we already had a talk about scratching my couch!"
"I'm not dammit! Better the door than you."
You blinked in rapid succession at his words, pure confusion setting into your brows as they took a turn for your hairline. "Excuse me?"
"Just go away! I'll be fine. It'll pass, it always does." His words were laced with strain, pure effort to sound normal that was not lost on you.
"Well, if you don't want my help that's fine. I'll make breakfast and I hope you'll join me."
Katsuki did not reply any further, in fact the sound of him sliding to a seat against the door was your only reply. Sighing heavily you turned and made your way into the kitchen in order to make due your words, cook up some breakfast and brew some coffee in order to get this tired feeling from holding your body hostage.
Eggs scrambled, coffee in cup and a few slices of bacon on your plate, you sat at the table and chewed thoughtfully about Katsuki's actions. He had become distant the night before, citing a stomach ache during dinner. Was he just not feeling well and didn't want to show his weakness in front of you? Maybe you would check with Kirishima later if there was any medications Katsuki couldn't have as being a Hybrid for stomach aches.
The hybrid did not join you for breakfast even after your repeated attempts to call for him, groans and whines still sounding from down the hall. You sighed and decided you would at least make yourself presentable for the day in the event you had to make a trip to the pharmacy.
You slipped into a simple pair of jean shorts and a nice top that fit your figure quite nicely. It was a hot one according to your phone so full length pants and sweaters were out of the question, no matter how much you enjoyed them.
It was now around lunchtime and couldn't take how pitiful your feline boyfriend sounded from the noises filling the apartment. He wasn't exactly being quiet in his misery and you couldn't lie it was starting to drag on your nerves.
"Yellow?" The cherry voice came and you rolled your eyes. "Hi Kirishima, I have a question for you?"
"Shoot, I'm just sitting here doing nothing anyway."
"So last night Katsuki locked himself into my spare bedroom, citing he had a stomach ache. He's been whining and groaning all freaking morning and I was just checking if there is anything I can give him to make him feel better? Or I guess more so anything I can't give him?"
The line went silent for so long you had to pull the device back to confirm it was even still connected, confirming the redhead's photo still lit up your screen and returned it to your ear to prompt him with a
"Hello?"
"Oh Yeah, sorry uh… you said his stomach hurts?"
"Yes? He's been whining all morning. I feel horrible he feels that way and I wanted to know how to help."
He paused another moment but continued much faster this time, "He's making whining noises? Like…" He began making similar noises to what you had been hearing all morning and you affirmed that's exactly what he's doing.
"Aw shit."
"What do you mean 'aw shit' Kiri?"
"You're positive he said he had a stomach ache and then locked himself in the room? Won't let you in right?"
"Yes! Oh for the love of... can you just tell me what's going on? You clearly know more about this than I do!"
He let out a nervous chuckle and you could almost see him shifting weight on his feet and rubbing his neck as he did when thinking how to speak something that may come out embarrassing.
"So uh… If he's doing what I think he's doing… He's not sick… Well he is in a way that's a hybrid thing but… anyway I'm rambling. So you know how animals have cycles where they're really clingy and whiney during certain periods of the month?"
You nodded while recalling your previous cat's cycles where she would become unbelievably clingy and yowl all around the house for the first couple months you had her before being spayed.
"Yeah, my cat went through her heat cycles for a bit before I fixed her when she was young… wait… Are you saying Katsukis in heat?"
"Uh… Yeah."
Taking a deep inhale you thought back to the last few days before he had suddenly went recluse, practically living in your lap. Rolling himself all over in his cat form and holding on to you like you were his last life line in his hybrid. The times you had tried to get up, pull away he had hissed at you… Hissed! Bared his teeth and full on hissed.
You had given him a look that told him he had lost his damn mind, he would change moods within seconds and rub his nose into the base of your throat when you settled back into your seat.
"Katsuki is in heat." Your question was more a statement of disbelief, there was no way right? Then again you knew almost next to nothing about Hybrids since this was a new experience to you. You didn't even knew they existed until a few months ago.
"I said yes… At least I think so. I honestly only knew him through one heat cycle when he was younger. He locked himself away and refused anyone to come in and… help him, until it was over. He made very similar noises to what you're describing."
Well shit.
"So… what do I do?" Your whispered words filled Kirishima's ear as he sunk into his chair unbeknownst to you on the other side. He rubbed at the bridge of his nose with thick fingers for a moment.
"You want the honest truth?"
Indicating you did, he gave you the most matter of fact options he had ever given you for the fun loving guy.
"Either you go in there and help him, or you leave him be and let him power through it like he wants. I am going to warn you though, heats for Hybrids are different. It's not like the normal human who just gets horny every once in awhile. We are non stop in the mood for sometimes days or a full week at a time. Meaning every moment he's awake, he's aroused and painfully so until he… releases that tension."
Chewing your cheek you listened intently as he spoke, your eyes widening at certain facts. "A WEEK?"
"Yeah, I've had one that lasted a full week… even with help." You snorted at the man's blatant skirting of adult language in this situation, somewhat amused before the expression dropped back into seriousness.
"If I don't help.. how much pain will he be in?"
"Well as someone who has gone with and without a partner before… I would say your help will probably be preferred. It lessens the pain and gives him relief, even if temporary. Don't feel pressured to help though, that's your choice."
So basically what he was saying was you needed to go fuck your boyfriend's brains out or let him writhe in agony for possibly a few days or week? Sex had not really been something you both had discussed as of yet being so new to the relationship. You had been known to check out his physique during times Katsuki walked around shirtless in only basketball shorts or some gray sweat pants.
Bless who ever evented those.
Would he even let you in after your conversation this morning? You didn't want to force him to do anything he wasn't ready for or even wanted. Yes you had caught him checking you out several times when you wore your night clothes, shorts while reaching up into a high cupboard etc. Maybe now was as good time as any to…
"Y/N?"
You shook your head to rid your head of your thoughts.
"Yeah, sorry. I guess I'll think about it. Anything else I need to know before I let you go?"
He thought for a moment, humming as he did. "I would say if you do choose to help him… be prepared to be sore and tired… Humans don't always have the stamina we do and since he will be in heat for… an unknown amount of time…. It'll be a marathon…"
You hung up after expressing your thanks, letting the phone fall against the couch cushion beside you. What should you do? Go in and help him through it? It had actually been quite awhile since your last lay, being with that asshole ex of yours. Not even really that great but it had still been adult interaction. You had not wanted to push anything onto your new boyfriend before he was ready but boy did it make you cross your legs in the thought of getting hammered into by the strong hybrid whining down the hall behind you.
Maybe you would just offer your help a bit? What could it hurt?
Standing, you adjusted your shirt and checked out appearances in the mirror before knocking gently at the door once again to catch the man inside's attention.
"I said go away!" The voice snapped inside fell into a groan of anguish and you sighed.
"Katsuki, I heard what's going on from Kirishima. You're in heat aren't you?"
A grunt followed your question before small scratches at the door once again, "Yes."
His response was small, barely heard as you leaned against the door to hear him. His breaths coming in quick pants as the continued scratching against the door could be heard.
"Would you let me in, to help?" You whispered loud enough to be heard through the door. The scraping halted, little taps of his claw against the door replaced them.
"You… wanna help?"
"Yes, I do. Kirishima filled me in on how to help and I can't leave you in agony for… however long this will last."
A loud bang to the door had you jumping back once again, landing on your rear you watched in disbelief.
"No! I can't do that to you! I could hurt you Y/N. Now fuck off! I'll be fine on my own!"
Taking your bottom lip between your teeth you could feel the hurt seeping into your bones. Sure he had issued concern for your wellbeing into that statement but the rejection hurt none-the-less.
"Well, you know where you find me then I guess…" The wobble in your voice was not lost on the cat inside the door, his canines digging into his plush bottom lip, stopping him from ripping the door open and taking you right there on the floor.
He had gone through several heats during his time on earth and never once had a partner, he had always been alone… and they had all been hell. It starts by the insistent urge to hold onto something or someone, flush and heat slowly creeps it's way up his body, into his neck so he is always sweating. The incessant pulsing between his legs and the need to mount follows very close after. His heats started off short, a day, maybe two once he hit puberty. They slowly stretched into more and more until his last heat that had been the worst, he was locked up for five days straight.
Though all those times he never once had someone willingly offering themselves to alleviate his pain. Yes during his stint originally around Kirishima there had been hybrids offered to help him but none of them were His. So he had suffered alone, in silence, or as much as he could… maybe he should let you in…
No! He had seen what happens when Hybrids mate with Humans during their heats. A few had ended up with major gashes, life threatening injuries and even in the ground.. He could not do that to you…
--------
It had been two days.
Two whole days since your offer to the yowling cat in your spare bedroom. He had spent the entire first night whining in his hybrid form, voice increasing in volume throughout the night that you did NOT get any sleep. You had begged him to let you in to help, he had yelled at you once again to leave him alone anytime you went even near the door.
During the second day he had reverted to his cat form in hopes it would silence his noises but only seemed to make himself more known, loud yowls echoed off the walls that you had to put ear plugs in to get a nap in around lunch time.
Speaking of food, he had refused any and all meals you had offered. Even leaving a plate at the door it had not even cracked an inch. His fear that if the door opened even a bit, his delirium would take over and you would not be safe no matter where you were in the home.
Now turning a burger in the pan you huffed in annoyance at the loud screams from the trapped cat. You sincerely hopped that this would end and soon. A serious talk would be due after about the fact he was shutting you out from something you were glad to help with. Turning off the burner you began preparing your bun with the condiments you preferred when a sudden fact hit you like a slap in the face.
The house was silent.
Your head swiveled to the spare door with a crack from your neck in concern, it had been two days of non stop noise. Was he done with his heat?
The door was sitting ominously open, you shuffled slowly to peek into the door from your position and noted the bed… was empty. Tossed, blankets curled up and pillows askew everywhere but no upset blonde to be found.
"Katsuki?" You called nervously into the open air. Did he possibly just sneak off to the restroom? Turning back towards the counter you chalked it up to nothing serious and returned to preparing your sandwich.
Placing the top bun to finish up, every hair on your neck rose suddenly and you could feel a presence hovering behind you. Your body tensed from the feeling of being the mouse in a prey situation and attempted to swivel your head to catch whoever was stalking you, even if out of the corner of your eye when you were suddenly pressed firmly against the counter.
Your hips were locked into place by the body behind you, large hands that led into dark claws gripped the counter and caged you with strong arms. The body heat against your back told you exactly which predator was holding you firmly against the surface, his knuckles turning white with how hard he gripped the granite.
The tip of his nose began brushing your shoulder gently, his face turning to run slowly towards the base of your neck and upwards while taking a deep inhale of your scent. A low purring rumbled from his chest against your body as you gripped the counter yourself, bracing for what was about to come. Fear mixed with excitement had moisture growing between your legs, a dull ache slowly forming along with it at the wish to being dominated by the one who held you.
"Does your offer still stand?"
His voice was low, deeper than you've ever heard. Husky would be the word to describe it, and boy did it do things to you when your body shivered in response.
"Yes."
Your affirmation was airy, barely there but it was enough for him. His hands left the counter immediately, one gripping at your abdomen under your top and the other trailing upward to paw at your breast over your bra. A gasp of shock left your lips as your fingers squeezed on the counter even tighter. His lips attached to the back of your neck, teeth gently gripping at the skin.
The hand running over your stomach began lowering over your hip, brushing your shorts even lower so his hand could touch parts of you he had never before.
"I tried so hard to resist…" His voice was muffled against your skin, his mouth leaving barely leaving your skin as he placed kisses where he had bit down. "I tried so hard to get through this on my own like I always did… But I can't resist you."
A soft noise of appreciation of his words left your mouth and his fingers dipped into your jeans finally, inching forward to where you wanted them most.
"Katsuki, please." You whispered as his other hand dipped under your bra finally and began tweaking at your pert nipple, his hips locking you to the counter began to roll gently and grind at your rear, a low groan of satisfaction leaving his lips at finally getting some friction.
"I'll try to be careful as I can Princess, but I may have to make it up to you next time to be more gentle."
Turning your head to ask him what he meant but his hand had left your breast and latched onto the back of your neck, shoving you down against the counter with force. Not enough to hurt but enough to let you know, there was no going anywhere from him now.
"I warned you about this, but you just had to offer yourself to me." HIs voice was a low growl, warning at what was to come. Shivers ran down your spine and your eyes began to roll backwards at the threat that had your slick gathering and soaking your panties.
His long fingers ran over the span of your back, lowering to your pants and a loud rip was heard as his claws removed both your jeans and underwear in quick motions.
Your whine of disapproval had him chuckling, "I'll get you new ones, don't worry."
Now fully bare to him from the waist down he let out an appreciative groan, your beautiful folds glistened in the kitchen's light, all for him. His clawed hands gripped your hips with a bruising force as he fell to his knees, shoving his face into the heat and lapping a long stripe that had your toes curling. His rough tongue continued long motions over your sensitive bud, your hands tightening and loosing with the noises of approval filling the room.
He swirled his tongue around to taste all of you, being one of the most delicious things he had ever tasted, quickly becoming his favorite meal. His deep groan reverberated off your womanhood and you let out a similar noise as his fingers trailed up and down from your hips down your plush thighs. Inching closer to join where his mouth licked, sucked and pulled gently on your clit to pull you even closer to the edge you were teeming to fall.
He pulled back for just the briefest of moments to prod a thick finger gently around your hole, careful to not nick you with his claw he nudged against the first ring of muscle before plunging it inside to your delight.
Calling his name spurred him on that he began moving it slowly, curling to hit that beautiful spot inside that he added a second just a few moments later. His mouth returned to your clit while continuing to fuck his fingers inside your fluttering hole, feeling that coil inside your stomach tightening rapidly by the moment, his name becoming a prayer that you chanted over and over as you leaned against the counter.
The combination of his mouth sucking away and fingers curling to catch both of your most sensitive spots finally worked the coil to a snap, a loud, long moan leaving you as more juices splashed down into his mouth that he gladly lapped up. A similar moan of satisfaction vibrated against your fluttering cunt only aided to help you ride out your high.
Giving you only but a moment to calm down he pulled back and licked his lips like the happy cat he was, rushing to his feet to help satiate his raging hard on that was begging to join in. His heat not allowing him even a moment to rest since he had yet to be able to feel the relief, even with the several times he had tried to satisfy himself in the guest bedroom while avoiding you.
His sweatpants hit the floor and you took the moment while trying to gather your breath to catch a look at his now revealed cock. It was quite formidable, bigger than anyone you had ever been with and it hung with a weight that had you wondering if it was even going to fit inside you! Something near the base caught your concern as nothing you had recognized before but didn't have a great look before that angry red, leaking tip was brushing at your hole and stealing your attention.
One of his hands returned to grip the counter, the other gripping the base of his thick cock and running it up and down between your folds, mewls of approval left your lips that mingled with his own.
"Fuck you're so wet…" His tip gathered up your slick in order to prepare himself to enter you, throbbing in impatience he finally placed it exactly where you were begging it to go.
"Katsuki, stop teasing me."
Your eyes met his own blown out gaze, lust clear in his features and a spreading sexy smirk across his lips.
"Oh don't go bossing me around Princess, I'm the one in charge here. I'm going to fuck you so good you can't walk tomorrow."
A whimper at the promise he spewed as his hips pushed forward to press his cock past the first ring of muscle. Your hole stretching deliciously to accommodate his size, his hand that had been gripping himself now joined the other with a slap on the counter, gripping tightly as he pressed slowly further. He was trying with such restraint to not just bury himself deep in first go and slam away at your cunt.
You deserved better.
Though you were so pent up from how long it had been last since you had a good fuck that gentleness was the furthest thing you wanted from him right now.
"Katsuki, come on… Fuck me!"
He didn't have to be told twice, he was only half way inside. He slammed forward to his limit. Your voice echoing around the apartment at the sudden intrusion had his brows furrowed, lips parted at the heat squeezing his cock. You were so tight and warm, he had never felt anything like this before. He had hoped his first time with you would be more romantic since it would've been his… first time ever as well but his heat had other plans. He would make it up to you for sure the next go around, because there was to be plenty to come depending on how long his cycle would last.
Taking a few moments for a breath and allow you to adjust to his size, he knew if he moved right away he would not last but a few brief seconds before blowing everything inside you.
"Are you okay?" He grit through his teeth, bracing himself as you nodded furiously.
"I'm fine. Move, oh god move please."
His hips listened to you immediately, rearing back to the tip and then slowly reentering his full length inside. A low moan left your lips as his cock dragged against the ridges of your body, pulling similar lewd noises from his own.
Long fingers left the counter and gripped your hips tightly as his pace picked up rather quickly. Chasing that high he couldn't believe how great you felt, kissing you had been amazing in itself but this was a whole new experience.
He pistoned his cock in and out of your fluttering pussy, hands raising to your ribs and pulling you up from the counter against him. Fingers curled around your throat and the other braced your hip against his as the sound of skin slapping and porn star worthy sounds filled the kitchen. That coil was tightening once again but when that hand gripping your hip dipped back between your folds and rubbed at your sensitive bud once more in circular motions it let it snap with a force.
He felt you grip him like a vise, the extra pressure on his cock mixed with the juices running down his thighs from your pleasure had his head falling back into a loud groan.
"C-Can I….?"
His stuttered, drifted off question didn't even have to be finished for you to know what he was asking. Your head bobbed in rapid nods to indicate he was free to do what he needed to. He let out a loud whine and could feel him twitching inside you as the warm rush of his cum filled you to the brim. Loud pants from both of you continued as he gave a few more sloppy pumps inside to ride out his high.
His forehead fell to rest against your shoulder, his hot breath fanning over your exposed shoulder from your shirt riding up during the activities.
"Feel better?" You tried, still slightly out of breath.
His reply was just a nod you could feel against your skin, his soft ears twitching against your neck had you giggling just a bit from the tickle.
He groaned as you giggled and your hole fluttered on him gently, he pulled back and you felt empty as the giggle turned into a whine. You turned to find his eyes back to those normal pin points, watching you with interest as you took him in finally.
His body was flushed, the redness curling around his neck and shoulders in patches had you chewing your bottom lip.
"It's not going away is it?"
He shook his head and wrapped his arms around your waist to pull you into him. He pressed a soft kiss against your lips.
"Thank you." The whispered words between kisses had your heart fluttering for the cat eared man. A low rumble from said man's stomach broke the romantic moment and had you giggling.
"I'm guessing days of not eating is catching up with you now that you're coherent?"
His cheeks flushed worse than they had with the heat of embarrassment and he grumbled something in response you didn't catch.
Turning you handed him the burger that had been an audience member, "It might be cold but I can make a different one."
He shook his head and dug into it, letting out a low pornographic moan at the first taste of food in days. "I dun giff a fawk."
He mumbled past his mouthful had you giving him a stern look of 'don't talk with your mouthful' and he snapped it shut to chew. The burger didn't make it even the few moments it took you to throw another patty into the pan for yourself, he was beside you with hopeful eyes. Rolling your own you threw yet another in and then gave him a raised brow that he knew as 'is that enough?'
He pressed a quick kiss to your cheek followed by a smack of his palm against your still exposed ass cheek had you squealing.
"You're supposed to go to the bathroom or something. I got this."
You smiled and pressed your own kiss against his lips and then in an act of revenge reared your hand back and left a large smack against his own cheek on your way out that had him howling in annoyance as you rushed into the restroom in a fit of giggles.
-------
Katsuki's coherence didn't last long before he was rock hard again, whining against you on the couch. His wandering hands trying to find all your buttons to press in order to allow him inside you once again. It worked like this for the next couple days, only get an hour, maybe two in between rounds unless he was sleeping. Then you got a few hours to rest and relax your quickly becoming sore cunt.
So far he had taken you primarily from behind per his instincts, slamming into your cunt as you mewled into the surface he had you against. The couch, counter, wall and even the shower had been broken in. How the bed had avoided the same treatment was an interesting sentiment at this point but you didn't care in the least, each time had been even better than the last.
Unfortunately he had been right in his instincts being dangerous, you had earned some small scratches from his claws grabbing you a little hard at times. You had a few bite marks on and around your shoulders to neck area from when he would get into pounding like no tomorrow as if to hold on. He had made a great effort to maintain control so far and it was working.
Learning from Katsuki he had been a virgin prior to that first time had shocked you. How had this Adonis of a man never pulled a single person? Or had he saved himself for his "Mate" as he called you?
Kirishima had sent an email on your behalf to the college letting them know you were out with an "illness" and would be out for an undisclosed amount of time. Your assignments would be picked up by the redhead and dropped off in the mailbox for you to work when you could escape your boyfriend's grip.
Now on day five, you were perfectly ready for this whole thing to be over. As great as it was, you were rounding past over it into 'Just don't touch me' territory at being manhandled over the nearest surface at a seconds notice when his heat would kick into full swing once again.
Currently you were reading a book, side eyeing the man curled into the corner of the couch, deep into a well needed snooze since he had only been getting a few hours of sleep here and there. The flush of his skin was starting to fade, his normal color returning slowly and you breathed out a sigh of relief in hopes that he was finally coming out of it.
He let out a groan and sat up, running his long fingers through his hair.
"Fuck that was the worst one yet." He rolled his strong shoulders and you watched as the muscles rippled under his skin, taking your bottom lip between your teeth.
Yes you were over the whole situation, doesn't mean you couldn't appreciate the gods built man sitting next to you. His ears twitching and he adjusted his sweatpants into a more comfortable position had you shifting in your seat. Okay maybe you weren't over the situation as much as you thought.
"The fuck's wrong with you?" His blonde brow was curled in amusement at watching you squirm in your seat.
"Nothing, go back to... whatever you were doing!" You snapped with no venom behind it and buried your nose in your book to hide the obvious embarrassment.
His lips spread into that sexy smirk and he leaned in, "You know my heat's not fully over, I can get one more in… if you want."
You adjusted yourself once more as he began crawling towards you slowly, placing one arm between you and the couch as you leaned back against the arm rest. His rash may be gone but you could still see the lust filling his eyes that began scanning your face for approval.
"I'll make sure it's the way you should've been treated to for our first time. What do you say sweetheart?"
Taking your bottom lip between your teeth again you nodded slowly, setting your book aside after quickly saving your page with the book mark. His smirk turned into a full on grin as his hands slid underneath to scoop you into his strong arms, his large palms gripping your thighs that wrapped around him instinctively as not to fall.
Arms wrapped around his broad shoulders, his face dipped towards yours and connected your lips in a hot kiss. Eyes closing as your breath mingled with his, he began his stride with you in tow towards the bedroom you shared to finally break in the bed after all this time. Breaking the kiss and shooting you a sly grin he tossed you as gently as he could on the bed and a fit of giggles left your lips.
He stalked over top of you and leaned down to take your lips again, soft murmurs from him of "You're so beautiful" and "So good for me" against your lips. Your hands trailed up his strong back and one of them curled into the wheat colored hair, gripping softly and giving soft tugs had him grunting into your mouth. His toungue swirled and explored against your own, head tilting to deepen the kiss as he pressed his body into yours, hands on either side of your torso to hold his full weight from crushing you.
One of your legs raised and curled around his hip, rubbing gently back and forth to urge him on to press into you. He let his body meet yours fully, his hard member pressing against your hidden heat and earning a soft exclamation from your swollen lips.
You whispered his name as he began to lightly grind into you, his hips rolling slowly and painfully. He exerted soft moans of your name against your skin as he placed open mouth kisses along your throat, down towards your collarbones with little nips of his teeth. Your hand in his hair raised to brush against his twitching ears, he let out a low groan when your other leg curled around his thin waist and held him close.
"You're so soft my sweet girl." He praised as his busy hands began brushing gently over your exposed skin as he raised your shirt. Lifting your arms and torso to assist, he tossed the garment across the room out of sight and trailed his eyes over newly exposed skin. It was as if he was really seeing you for the first time regardless of the countless times he had seen you changing before the reveal of who he was or the romps you had around the apartment so far.
You reached behind and with expertise of taking the item off every single day, you unclipped your bra and flicked it with your wrist in the same direction your shirt had sailed. Watching as his eyes went as wide as saucers at the newly exposed skin, he took his lip in-between his sharp canines and let those large hands of his slide up your ribs to engulf both breasts. He gave a few test squeezes and watched as you reacted with approving expressions, the rough pads of his thumbs brushing over your erect nipples in soft circles that had you sighing. His fingers tweaked at the buds, rolling them and finally dipping his head in to take a taste, your body squirming at the sudden warmth.
He took the first in his mouth, tongue lolling over and swirling it around as he massaged the other with his large hand. His eyes raised to you, watching as your plush lips parted with short breaths, eyes closed and head leaned back against the pillow. His hips ground into the bed for some relief from the strain against his sweats, closing his own eyes for a moment to savor the taste of your skin.
He gave the other some attention as well, cannot leave a girl out. Your mewls at his mouth latched and giving a good suck had your legs squeezing his waist. A whine of his name had him detaching and looking down at you with a playful grin.
"What? What does my pretty mate want?"
You let your lip jut in a pout, he knew damn well what you wanted and he just wanted your pretty voice to vocalize it.
"Don't tease me Katsuki, you know what I want."
He mocked your pout with one of his own and ran a hand down your exposed stomach, running a finger just over the line where your pants met skin. "Let me hear it then."
A whine of annoyance left your lips as you shot him a pleading look, he clicked his tongue against his teeth. "Ah, come on Princess… tell me what you want…"
"I want you to fuck me okay? Quit fucking teasing me dammit!"
His playful look dropped into one of pure sin and he nodded.
"Yes Ma'am."
His fingers made quick work of unbuttoning the jeans and sliding them off your legs without ripping for once. More of your clothes had ended up in tatters this week than you had hanging in the closet so he was going to owe you a whole new wardrobe soon that he'd be getting a part time job somewhere just to pay for it.
Your panties soon followed, he appreciated the view before pulling them off. Seeing the damp spot hiding your heat gave away your arousal and he tossed them aside into the growing pile.
"I have to get you ready first though… Don't want to hurt you. I'm going to do this right this time."
His long ring finger ran through your folds, your body jumping softly at the sudden touch and melted into the mattress as his pad flicked over your sensitive spots. He tested the waters and brushed the finger over your entrance, a soft gasp leaving your lips when he finally began inserting it painfully slow inside. His finger disappearing inside as far as you'd allow and pulling back to press forward again. A long moan left your lips when he added his middle finger, thumb brushing up against your clit in small motions that had you reeling.
That wonderful feeling began low in your stomach, a deep burn that was rapidly getting hotter as his hands began working faster to bring you to your high. His name was spoken through a broken moan as you neared the edge and threatened to topple over when his hand was pulled away and you whined as the feeling began to drop.
"Katsuki!" You protested as his hand was quickly replaced with the tip of his cock, his sweats quickly abandoned during your protests. He ran the head a few times through to collect the slick and stimulate your bud, sensitivity from being edged snuck up on you and called out loudly in surprise.
"That's it my mate, I just want to feel you cum on my cock."
He slotted his body overtop of you, leaning down to press his lips to yours in a deep kiss while pressing the tip of him against your waiting hole. He gave a few shallow pumps without breaking the first ring of muscle that had you wrapping your legs tightly back around his waist, sitting perfectly in the dips of his small waist. Finally pressing forward slowly he sheathed himself fully inside, both of you gasping into each other's mouth while eyes locked and he gave a moment for you to adjust before he drug himself back keeping that slow and steady pace.
Your brows furrowed as his face lowered into your neck, pressing kisses against your skin. He continued the slow pace, rolling his hips into yours steadily while your fingers trailed up his sides and felt every movement of his muscles underneath. You whispered his name lovingly from his soft romantic demeanor after all the man handling and roughness prior. The fact that he was taking his time and making sure he worshiped you like the queen you were set you over the edge.
"Katsuki, I love you."
His hips paused, body tensing as he lifted his face from your neck and gave you a wide eyed stare of shock. "What did you say?" Neither of you had vocalized the words as of yet, so the words had just come out without thought. Biting your bottom lip you watched as his face changed, "I said… I love you?"
He blinked a few times, no one had ever said those words to him before in this manner. Of course you had told him you loved him when he was a cat, who doesn't tell them they love their cat while smothering them in kisses and pets? He could tell from the look in your eyes that you were telling the truth with the way your irises shinned in the dim light from the windows shinning through.
"Fuck…I love you too."
He leaned down and captured your lips once again as he picked back up his pace, increasing a bit more from the start until he was rapidly pistoning inside your fluttering cunt. His large palms slid down your soft skin to hook under your knees and press your legs back into a press, adjusting himself to press himself impossibly deeper. With this new angle he hit that sweet spot deep inside you that had your toes curling and voice raising in octaves that bounced off the walls. You were sure there was going to be a noise complaint on your door by the morning that would join the two you already had received on the counter. Looks like you might be moving soon.. Oh well.
His grunts became more intense as his skin slapped against yours, turning into almost growls with bared teeth.
"I'm going to fuck my cum so deep inside you, put my kits in you… Make you a mom."
His grit out words were emphasized by especially hard thrusts that had you calling out. Your walls flexed around him at his words, the thought of him breeding you had your body shaking with the building pleasure.
Though you hadn't really thought about kids, maybe sometime down the line or not at all but right now you were willing to give him whatever he wanted.
He leaned down over you once again, releasing your sore thighs and giving your hips relief for a moment. He buried his face into your throat, growls of "Mine." reverberated in your ear as he placed kisses at the bite marks he had left prior around your collar bones and neck. That coil snapped and you finally toppled over the edge he had led you to earlier, hearing you fall and let out loud moans indicating your orgasm he continued his pace to help you ride it out and find his own.
He finally felt it building and knew this was it, this one would end his heat as something swelled at the base of his cock and you felt a new sensation of something against your folds. Confusion swept over you as you listened to Katsuki's rising pitch of moans into almost whines when finally he pressed further than he had before and the additional stretch caused you to gasp in shock, calling out his name.
Collapsing on top of you he buried his face into your throat and began nuzzling against your skin. Taking deep inhales you leaned back to look at him and he let out noises of protests when you left him.
"Katsuki, what the fuck was that?"
He hummed, playing dumb and you attempted to push him back only to find a sharp pain in the worst place to find it, your cunt. "Ow! What the hell is that?"
"We're stuck." He mumbled, pulling you back towards him tightly and snuggling into your soft chest.
"The fuck you mean… stuck?" He raised an annoyed glare your way and you shot one back of seriousness. Like hello? Why does your vagina hurt?
"It's my knot. When my knot swells to release my seed is when my heat finally ends. It only happens when I'm ready to breed."
Blinking you tried to search your brain for the word Knot. During your experiences with sex never once had someone mention this word or had you literally been unable to move afterwards.
"Your what?"
He huffed a breath out and realized your face was curled in obvious confusion. Shit, he forgot humans don't have knots…
He began to explain and your eyebrows slowly inched towards your hairline the more he did and would've disappeared if they weren't attached to you.
".. and that's inside me?" He nodded and let his head fall back against you. "How long does that last?"
He shrugged and you tapped his forehead. "Don't just shrug at me, how long does it last?"
"I don't know dammit! I've never knotted someone!"
You felt honored to have been his first, however a discussion about this would have been nice prior to the situation you found yourself in.
You let out a long sigh before settling in for the unforeseeable future. Kirishima was in for a nicely worded text later at this detail he oh so wonderfully left out.
"You are so lucky you're handsome."
He chuckled as that low rattling purr he did filled the space, your fingers running over his back.
Well, what a pickle this ended up being, looks like you'll have something new to add on the grocery list for the next trip to the store.
All the while Katsuki was contemplating how he could fix your spare bedroom's door before you saw all the scratch-marks from his attempts to keep himself from breaking out...

The Adventures of An UA RA
Part One - Move In Week
Summary: You are a third year UA hero student who is also the RA for class 1 A's dorm. It's move in for the new students and you are there to greet the fresh faces to the new year! If only you knew the year you were in for...
Warnings: SFW, jokes, crack-headed energy etc. One joke alluding to an adult type object.
Info: College AU, UA is a university and all students are college ages (18+). Dorms have been in place for all ages from the beginning of the year in this AU.
Clutching the clipboard against your sweater, it brushes the embroidery of UAU, showing pride for the school you had attended for three years as of today. Now in your second year as a Residential Advisor the itch to meet your new students crawled up your back, a scratch you couldn't reach or get rid of no matter how hard you tried.
The students would be arriving any moment, their first week to work on moving in their belongings to their new room before classes would officially start next Monday. Hoping they were anything like your previous year students who had been almost angelic, this year could only serve to be even better! Right?
Checking the watch on your wrist it was a few minutes past when their homeroom teacher Mr. Aizawa stated they would be gathering at the building so you could direct them to their assigned rooms.
"Hello!"
Your gaze raised a bit startled to find a very bright blonde rushing towards you, rolling bag scuffing along the ground as he rushed over.
"Are you a student here?"
His eyes drug over your appearance as you cleared your throat and nodded.
"I am a Third year here. I'll be your Resident Advisor for this building. You'll hear more when we get everyone here though. Can I grab your name so I can mark you present?"
His face lit up like a light bulb, nodding furiously. "Denki! I'm Denki Kaminari."
Your pen scratched against the paper, marking the little box next to his name indicating he was present as a few others began trickling over. Taking their names as they arrived one by one, you found only a few had yet to arrive.
An Izuku Midorya, Mina Ashido and Occhaco Uraraka.
The students chatted amongst themselves, they were definitely a colorful bunch so far, especially a certain blonde haired student who had called you an extra and almost refused to give his name when asked for role call. After noting you were the RA for the building he finally gave in with heavy reluctance.
After a few more minutes a pink haired girl with matching skin tone came hustling up while carrying at least two bags over her shoulders while dragging along a large one with yet another bag sitting on top let you know she was indeed Mina Ashido. She was followed by a brunette girl with a bob and pink cheeks.
The only person missing was this Izuku Midoriya person. You raised a hand and decided it was time to go inside the dorm, knowing full well not everyone always shows up on the first day or they may have decided to rescind their attendance.
"Hello Everyone! Can I grab your attention?"
Your voice rang out over the courtyard, soon to be drowned out by the chatting of students introductions and laughter. Clearing your throat you tried again to no avail, even your claps to grab their attention like kindergarten, only had a few shoot you side eyed glances in confusion.
Having enough, with a deep sigh the air around began rushing slightly as it lifted you into the air, body feeling light as you hung a few feet off the ground.
"Over here! Yes... me here in the air, hello!"
Finally catching the crowd's attention and shock that you now floated in the air a few feet above them all turned with silence to give what you had been seeking.
Returning your feet to the ground gently, you gave them the most welcoming smile one could muster.
"Welcome everyone to a new year at UA! I am Y/N L/N and I will be your Residential Advisor here this year. If we can all gather our things we will go ahead and shuffle into the lobby so you can all get situated before I hand out room assignments."
Turning you shoved a key into the lock and pushed the doors wide open for the students to finally enter the building that would be their homes for the next few months of the school year. As the final student entered the silver doors a green haired boy came running up, breath coming quick from having ran his way up the walk. His bag clutched tightly to his chest he found you watching him with intrest.
"Are you my Izuku Midoriya?"
His freckled cheeks turned a bright red while a small squeak left his lips. "Yes... I'm Izuku Midoriya."
Shining him a smile you waved a hand to indicate for him to follow the others inside. His eyes averted from yours, ears pink as he shuffled inside quietly with his bag still tightly held in his arms.
Now in the lobby you watched as the students peeked around in interest of the common areas, couches and kitchenettes in the area.
Waiving them all over you asked they take a seat at the couches for your little orientation before providing them their room numbers so they can start moving their stuff inside.
Reintroducing yourself due to the late arrival, you indicated that you would be their go-to for the rest of the school year. Your office would be located on the fourth floor should they need your assistance, otherwise on their room assignment form would be a phone number they can call at any time to reach you.
You handed a stack of papers to a student with navy colored hair and spectacles that shined in the light. He handed out a paper to each person as you indicated rules that would need to be followed in order to remain in the dorms.
One of the male students in the rear you thought was called Sero raised his hand.
"Yes sir?"
He pointed to a line in the middle of the page with a long finger, "This says no quirk use... so we can't use our quirks in the dorms at all?"
You shook your head while raising your hand to the same posted rules on the wall. "No, this means that your quirks cannot be used in the harm of others or campus property. If you have a quirk that creates fire and you set something ablaze there will be consequences."
A student with dual colored hair nodded with a quiet, "Good to know."
You quirked a brow, probably best to get a list of quirks from this group.
The same student as before raised his hand again, "Yes sir? Again."
"So my quirk creates tape from my elbows? If I wanted to say, fix something with my tape can I do that?"
You shrugged with a slight nod, "Sure, I guess. Though I am here to call maintenance so if anything is broken you would want to report that to me so we can get it fixed properly. However knowing you have that quirk if I find someone taped to a wall or ceiling I'll be coming to your door."
He shrunk into his seat a bit with a look of disappointment. Glad that was nipped before it happened.
You finished out the rules, indicating girls were on one side, guys on the other. Any inappropriate conduct would not be tolerated, such as sneaking into the other gender's restrooms, stealing, destroying property etc.
A hand shot up and your eyes landed on the owner. The hand was tiny, almost like that of a small child, the boy attached was no larger. At first you had a conflict thought of was this kid even college age?
"Yes... uh, Mineta?"
He placed his hand down with a smile, "So there's not co-ed showers here?"
Your brows lowered a bit from your hairline and a head shake from you. "No this facility is not co-ed. If you are found in violation of these rules in particular, I take very seriously by the way, you will be removed from campus permenately."
He lowered his hand and eyes shot around to disapproving looks from any female who sat near him, including your own stern glare indicating you were serious about the words you spoke. The safety of your students was one of the most important things to you.
After all questions were quelled, No alcohol is not allowed, no you cannot blast your childhood rival just for breathing.. No not existing either. Now that you were done with your presentation it was time to lead the students to their rooms.
The group followed behind you as you led them up the stairs to the first floor, giving keys one by one to those whose rooms you passed and leaving them to unpack their bags. Making your way through each floor and giving another stern reminder to the small purple boy if you catch anyone violating rules there will be issues and he hurried inside his room with such haste.
The final floor which included your office you handed off the keys to each student and decided it was time to enter your own room. On the door your name was listed with "RA" afterwards, and a small blurb to please knock on your office door beside it during business hours.
Inside your room was already decorated with your own tastes, having been on campus for at least a full week prior to the students arriving to prepare. Lounging in your chair you closed your eyes. The first week was always the hardest, getting everyone settled in and used to living apart from their parents usually for the first time.
A knock at your door broke you from your comfort and you hopped from the soft surface. Opening the door you found yourself in front of a smiling redhead with hair sticking out of a bandana he had wrapped over his forehead.
"Hi! I'm Kirishima... I was just curious about our room rules about decorating?"
You smiled and waved at the door beside your room. "Sure, let's go into my office. I gave you a list of rules, did it not answer your question?"
He followed you like a lost puppy and shook his head, "Nah, I just wanted to hang a few exercise equipment from the ceiling. Wasn't sure of the rules regarding that." You swung the door to your little office open, the inside simply decorated with yet again your taste lining the walls and surfaces. A desk sat with a few comfortable looking chairs and you led him to one of them.
He took a seat as you rounded the desk and placed yourself into your rolling chair. "What kind of exercise equipment are you hanging? As long as it doesn't damage the structure of the room it should be fine."
He leaned back in the chair, one muscled arm sticking out of a cut off shirt wrapped around the rear of the other chair beside him. "Ah just a punching bag, maybe a chair later."
Cocking a brow at the chair his sharp toothed smile lit up his face and you leaned forward. "Kirishima, just a sitting chair right?"
His eyebrows furrowed and his smile slipped a bit in clear confusion, "Wait, what kind of other chair is there?"
Biting your lip to hide your smile at his innocence you shrugged, "Forget about it. Just a reminder UA does have multiple work out facilities on campus including a simple one in the basement of the dorm for your use."
His bright smile split his face once again, "Yeah, I saw that. I'm super excited to put them to use before classes start. So I'm cool to hang that punching bag?"
Nodding you watched as he stood and offered his fist out, bumping your own he offered a salute before turning to exit the office. "See you later RA, stay manly!"
Blinking in complete confusion on what he meant by that you shrugged and shook your head before pressing the button to your computer's monitor to fire it up. You were typing up a report to the class' teacher about how move in was going when yet another knock came at your door.
Lifting your eyes you found the bubblegum girl standing in your doorway. She had a smile on her lips that went all the way into her dark eyes.
"Hey! Got a sec?"
You nodded and indicated to one of the chairs, which she dropped into immediately.
"So I wanted to come over because we're going to be neighbors and I wanted to get to know you! Are you a student here? Or did you graduate?"
Giving her a polite smile you watched as she leaned forward and propped her chin against her fists as she watched you with interest.
"Yes, I am a third year student. I'll be graduating at the end of the school year and becoming a full fledged hero."
She gasped loudly, "You're a hero student?" Nodding to confirm her question she scooted her chair forward with a screech against the floor that had your eye twitching.
"Who do you work under?"
Chuckling you turned from your computer and leaned forward. "Ashido, right?"
She huffed and waived her hand, "No, No, Mina."
Eyes flipping from her for a second before trying again, "Sorry, Mina. Yes I will be your neighbor and senior here. I don't currently have a placement because I am your RA, I have to be on site for emergencies. I will have one later and one of you will most likely be placed as my back up for when I'm at the agency. I did work with Hawks last year though..."
She inhaled deeply and you already regretted this conversation as she prepared another squeal. "Oh Hawks? He's so hot, what was he like?"
Letting your head fall to stare at the floor you let out another laugh of incredulous origin.
"Don't you have a room to unpack?"
Her lip jutted in a pout and she sighed. "Yes I do, I just wanted to get to know you since we'll be next door!"
You shot her a smile and she mirrored immediately. "We have all year for that, so for now go ahead and get your stuff unpacked. Tonight we'll have a little mixer to get to know each other before classes start."
Shooting out of her chair she rushed out with a promise she'd see you there. Letting you head rest against the back of your chair with a loud sigh. So far this group was proving to be more hands on than last year. It had been some hours after you let the kids unpack that anyone had bothered you within the first day or two.
You computer chimed with the arrival of an email from the dorm's teacher Aizawa who resided in the teacher dorm on the first floor. It was a list of the students and their quirks so you knew how to prepare for each student's needs and prevention of dorm damage.
Reading along your eyes began widening in surprise with each name and quirk you took in. Fire and ice, tape, Acid, freaking explosions?
Pulling up a new email you drafted to building maintenance ordering extra fire extinguishers for your floors based on the explosive personality from the person whose quirk was literally that. Several other preventative items were placed in the body of the mail before hitting that send button.
This was going to be quite the year... you could already tell.

The Adventures of an UA RA - Series Masterlist
Summary: You are a third year hero student at UA University and also just so happen to be the Residential Advisor assigned to keep track of Class 1A's dorm. It's supposed to be just another year for you in your second year as an advisor, however you were not ready for this class at all...
Warnings: SFW mostly, will mostly be crack level stuff, funny situations, jokes. College AU so all students will be College Ages (18+) as there may be situations regarding alcohol/adult type situations that fit into the scenarios. (Anything NSFW mentioned will be marked)
Author's note: Kind of took inspiration from one of my favorite Tik Tok accounts for this and thought about how many shenanigans' the class would get into and how being their RA would be nothing short of interesting. Reader will be kept mostly gender neutral but there may be some situations that pronouns may be used. No plans to really have the reader dating anyone specific. These will just be little scenarios thrown in between my normal fic schedule here and there.
Quick Facts:
Location: The two empty rooms between Mina and Occhaco on the fourth floor are reader's room and a small office. There is a door between the two so they can get to their office quickly during late hours. Reader is available anytime after school hours have concluded and is on call during the night in the case of emergencies.
Role in the dorms: Reader as the RA is responsible for the well-being of the students, helping sort out issues and report to Aizawa anything relevant (misbehaver, room change requests etc). Reader acts as the person students can go to in order to settle disputes without involving teachers. Though students have their own rooms disputes with neighbors can still occur and room re-assignments can happen. Even though Reader is a hero in training they do not have the authority to arrest anyone doing anything illegal, teachers would be called as the (campus police) should it be needed.
Reader's Quirk : Super Human - Quirk user can fly, has extreme durability and enhanced strength.

Katsuki's jaw cracked as it stretched during the largest yawn, his fist resting against it as he mindlessly fiddled with a string attached to the couch with his free hand. She had been gone for hours and he had watched several shows, some dumb movie from when he was a kid and he was over it. Now that he was able to interact with things the nostalgia had worn off after only a few days of running around and just touching… everything.
Photo frames on the walls, the texture of the paint, little décor objects she had laying around, food you name it. He was in need of person to person conversation and his stupid roommate was out "Working," who does that?
Speaking of the devil the door opened with a bang against the wall behind him and his neck popped as it turned. His roommate stumbled into the door, skin visibly a shade or two lighter than normal and sweat dripping down her exhausted looking face. She hunched over inside the door, heaving a breath or two before taking the moment to shut the door behind her.
He stood with a purpose and rushed over to her, "What the fuck Spooky? You look like you're the one with a foot in a grave!"
Giving him a sheepish smile you waved him off. "I'm fine, Just a bit of quirk usage I'm not used to." She tried to move past him only to stumble, his large arm looped around her costume covered waist and caught her easily. Her body went limp in his as he called her name with increasing panic. With no response, his hero training kicked in as if it had only been yesterday, hooking his bicep under her knees and rushed over to the couch to place her down as gently as he could. Her chest rose and fell with each labored breath, beads of sweat covered her face as she screwed her eyes shut tightly. "Okay maybe I'm not fine." Her words whispered weakly.
Katsuki began traveling around the apartment in a hurry, he had accessed she must have some kind of fever with the tone of her skin and the sheen of perspiration. She had mentioned a bad backlash with her quirk before, however he had never seen her in such a state it had put him into a panic for a moment before those hero instincts kicked in. He returned to her with a bowl of cool water, a rag, anti-nausea medication she kept in the cabinet, thermometer and a glass of fresh water. He had also found a pair of gloves from under the sink she wore when doing dishes from time to time that he hoped would keep her quirk at bay if he had to touch her. The last thing she needed right now was to feel the shitty death he experienced.
His fingers curled around the rag inside the bowl and rung out the excess water so he could lay it across her forehead to try lowering her body temperature. "Oi, sit up just a bit."
Her beautiful eyes finally cracked ever so slowly, watching as he held the rag above the bowl to catch drips until she complied. A giggle sounded from her in her delirium at the sight of this big burly man, elbow deep in Pink rubber gloves with visible concern on his face she had never seen before. Rolling his eyes he placed down the towel back into the bowl to assist her sitting up, his hands touched her gently only in places her costume covered skin. She flinched initially however in her weakened state let him guide her to a seated position. He ran the temple thermometer over her forehead and indicated she did in-fact have a fever, a high one at that. He placed the rag at the base of her neck and she immediately cooed at the cold feeling against her skin. She attempted to reach for the glass he had set on the table and with his help, drank in small gulps until the glass was completely gone.
"More?" He questioned and with her slight nod against the pillow he rushed to the sink to get her just that. Why he was going out of his way for this woman was beyond his comprehension, however he felt the urge to take care of her, be there for her when she had no one else in this time of need.
Round two was drained as quickly as the first, she took the nausea medicine just before collapsing into the couch with a blanket wrapped around her and soft snores passing through her lips. He sat with his back against the couch to listen to her snore, he had removed the gloves some time ago since he was no longer tending to her at the moment. His trained ears listening for any change in her breathing patterns as she slumbered behind him.
What had caused her quirk to go so haywire today? She had been out with stupid Deku that day, had something happened while on their patrol regarding their case? She used her gift every day while talking to him…interacting with him…
The television screen caught his attention as the pictures moved in silence, he had muted the object when she had burst through the door. Now seeing a professional photo of her along with Deku flash along while the announcer's mouth moved he turned up the volume slowly.
"A rare sight into the capture of a villain was caught today, by an armature videographer citizen who just happened to be bird watching when the events occurred."
The camera changed to the video the announcer spoke of, the view showing a small bird chirping as it hopped along a branch near it's nest. Down in the corner of the camera two figures began walking into the picture and the camera zoomed out to refocus on the street. Katsuki watched as Izuku and the female asleep behind him walked down the sidewalk chatting like old friends as screeching tires could be heard through the speakers. Both heroes sprung into action to save a mother and child duo who had been on the opposite side of the street.
He watched as she wrapped herself around the child and disappeared from view as the car passed where they had just been. As soon as the car left the view, they reappeared and the child ran off back towards their mother. He watched as the whole thing was captured on film, the take down and police arriving before the view was shut off when a policeman pointed up at the cameraperson that hurriedly shut off the device.
"As seen in the video the hero, now identified as retired hero "Phantom" was able to save the life of a poor child who would've been caught up in a string of hit and runs by the villain that calls himself "An Angel of Death." Assisted by the Number two hero Deku who placed the man in handcuffs before he could flee the scene. The Villian has claimed the lives of several children and has been finally identified as Mosu Ito, a former inmate at Tarturus prison who had escaped several years ago during the raid lead by Shigaraki Tomura that had left the area in shambles…"
Katsuki cut off the reporter by rewinding the video a few moments and watching the scene again. Seeing her in action was mesmerizing, she had acted with such a quickness that you arrived before the car was anywhere near hitting the boy as you held him tightly. He chewed his lip as his eyes found that familiar green lighting as his childhood friend took down the villain at his vehicle.
So Deku was number two now huh? Seems time flies when you're dead.
A groan broke him from his trance and he clicked off the screen with a flick of his thumb. Turning towards the couch he found himself staring into those tired eyes once again.
"Oh hey, how long was I out?" She grit her teeth as she sat up, running a hand over her stomach as it turned.
"A few hours, you stumbled in here like you drank a bar out of business."
She chuckled a bit before running her fingers over her damp hair from the sweat and grime of the street. Grimacing she wiped her hand on her suit, "You didn't have to take care of me, I would've been fine."
He huffed, crossing his arms as he watched her try to stand. "If I didn't you would've busted your teeth out on the floor. You could hardly walk, so I think not."
Giving a thankful smile she nodded and stood slowly, wobbling a bit his hands shout out to steady her. "Well shit, maybe I'm still not myself. I need a shower though, this costume is gross."
His cheeks burned at the implication, "I'm not bathing you!"
She laughed for a moment that turned into a heavy hacking cough, a hand flying to her mouth and covering it. "I didn't mean that you weirdo, I just need your help to the bathroom!"
Inhaling deeply he controlled the smart ass remark he wanted to let fly and decided instead to scoop his arms under her knees, a squeal leaving her as she attempted to hold onto hip for dear life as he held her in his sturdy arms. She gripped around his shoulders while avoiding skin contact, anxiety filling her from head to toe from the physical contact and nausea still rooting in her gut.
"Put me down you damn Poltergeist! I can fucking walk!"
He shrugged and carried her up the carpeted stairs to the closest restroom, which also happened to have the large jetted tub she enjoyed during her off hours.
"This is faster, you're also walking like a newborn baby deer so just deal with it."
Huffing she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms while in deep pout. She grumbled out insults that he could just hear when he set her gingerly back onto her own two feet. He pointed a finger into her face and her eyes crossed while looking at it before raising to his own. "If you need help, that sucks you're on your own. Don't drown." With that he turned and shut the door, hearing her turn on the water and he slid down the other side of the door. He placed his face into his large palms, letting out a deep sigh as he willed the stupid bugs in his stomach to stop fighting each other at the fact he had carried the woman in his arms a few times now and the fact she was undressing just behind the door he sat against.
He felt like a teenage boy again, getting all flustered over a good looking woman in his vicinity. Why did she have to be hot? Why couldn't she be a hag?
----
During Katsuki's little crisis, you slid into the bathwater with a groan. The hot water soothing the stress and soreness in your muscles from the quirk over use. As you soaked in the water, jets bubbling against your skin softly gave you time to think. You had barely used your quirk, why were you so sick? Could it be from quirk under-use?
Heaving a sigh you dunked your head under the water to wet your hair for a moment and leaned back against the headrest. Heat began rushing into your cheeks as the memory of your roommate's arms holding you tightly against him, careful to only hold you in places your costume covered your skin. What if he had touched you, would you actually feel his death? He was so strong for only being dead for five years, you could only imagine what his vision would feel like. After washing your hair and feeling as clean as you can be, you stood out of the water and pulled the plug for the water to drain. Realizing you were carried in here with no clean clothes, you'd have to haul ass to your room… in a towel.
Your palm slapped against your forehead as you leaned over the sink, eyes meeting in the reflection as you took in your flushed expression. You still felt like dirt but the bath did help, some more sleep would most likely be in order but you needed to try and get something in your stomach to settle it. First however, you had to get past the poltergeist without being spotted. Hopefully he had returned to his perch on the couch and you could slip unnoticed.
Grabbing the fluffiest towel from the cabinet you wrapped it tightly around yourself and opened the door to peek out. Seeing no on in sight you smirked to yourself, home free!
Swinging the door open in order to tip toe out, the door seems to open a little faster than planned and you hopped back as something hit the ground at your feet. Lowering your eyes, you found your toes on either side of a very wide eyed blonde that laid on his back. A scream ripped from your throat that he echoed, closing his eyes and hopping to his feet. You watched as he rushed around the corner and out of sight.
"I didn't see shit I swear!" You heard his voice call from down the stairs while you leaned against the frame, face scortching at the embarassment.
"Why were you sitting against the door?" You hollered back at him and he peeked around the corner for a second. "I was making sure you were okay in there sicky-mcgee!"
You huffed and stomped into your bedroom. Not even caring what you threw on at this point now that you were… well acquainted with your house guest.
Now clad in some shorts and a tank top your feet pad down the stairs to find him with his face in his hands. The tips of his ears were thoroughly pink and he shook his head furiously while grumbling. You bit your lip to hide a smile knowing he was just as embarassed as he was.
"Come on I'm not that ugly."
His head shot up and shot you a sneer, "Shut the fuck up, The problem is you're the fucking opposite."
Feeling the heat return to your face at his grumbled final words you took a spot on the cushion beside him.
"Well regardless of… that. Thank you for taking care of me tonight. I haven't been that sick in a long time…. it's actually the reason why I retired from being a hero full time. I was getting violently ill and I couldn't handle it much longer."
He listened and nodded after you finished without meeting your eyes still, "Yeah well, don't let it happen again. Take care of yourself!"
You dropped your face to hide the smile that would not stay off your face, even snapping at you he was showing he cared. Turning yourself towards him you sat with your legs crossed, brushing your wet hair from your face.
"Bakugo?"
His eyes met yours in surprise at actually using his family's name usually it was an insult or just poltergeist when you addressed him. "I think at this point we've lived together long enough and gotten to know each other enough… I'd like to, really get to know the real you. What do you think?"
He cocked a blonde brow, leaning back into the cushion on the arm rest. "You comin' on to me Spooky?"
Jaw dropped you raised your hand and let out a noise of annoyance.
"No you shit head! I was trying to be nice and offer to get to know you as a person? I've avoided this in the how long we've been able to interact but I was wondering if you'd be willing to share how you…died."
The last word he caught just barely as you whispered, eyes meeting your own that held apprehension, unsure of his reaction to wanting to see how he died.
"No."
You chewed your lip, not exactly sure how he had felt about your question. "I understand if you feel uncomfortable sharing that intimate memory with me, I just felt once it was out of the way we don't have to be so careful and I'd know more about yo-"
"You're sick, I'm not going to put you through that shit." His eyes became stern, turning to face you in the same manner. "The way I went was pretty shitty, from the way you've described what you go through, I wouldn't wish you to feel a moment of that."
Your expression softened, it wasn't that he didn't want to share that private moment with you… he just didn't want to have to experience it. Your chest tightened for a moment as you watched him closely.
"I am a strong girl Bakugo, I can handle it. Like I said before I have lived a few shitty deaths myself."
He frowned heavily, fiddling with his fingers as his gaze dropped. "I don't doubt that, but you've already over used your quirk and this was an… experience. I can't put you through that."
Raising your hands you placed them palm up, letting them hover as you watched his crimson gaze returned to yours in confusion.
"I think I can be the judge of what I can handle. I'm tired of tip toeing around the subject and I've already read about it. I may not even experience it…it doesn't always happen when I touch someone. I want to… get past my fears and I think you can help."
He inhaled deeply, his chest rising and falling while the gears turned in his head. Does he give in to you? He couldn't stand the thought of seeing you hurt any more than he already had seeing you fall ill. Finally his hands lifted from his lap and hovered over your own, his hands shaking softly as he took his lip between those sharp canines.
"Do… I feel anything? Or is it just you?" He asked with a shaky breath and you frowned. "You will see it as a third person, but I will be in your point of view. It won't be the same experience for you."
He nodded and watched as your own hands trembled slightly, pushing past your fears to being so close to his own. "Whenever you're ready." He breathed and you nodded, taking the leap you raised your hands and felt the rough pads of his fingers, the warmth of his palms spreading against your own.
"You're warm!" You whispered and he tilted his head just a bit, confusion filling his expression. A few moments passed as your fingers curled around his hands and his own followed close behind. "Nothing's happening." His gaze bore holes into your hands as you nodded. "Maybe it won't… it's not always instan-"
A bright flash filled both your visions as a gasp escaped your body.
----- (this is the description of a death, if you wish to skip, go down to the --- again.
You found yourself on a devastated street, head swerving back and forth to take in your surroundings.
'Where the fuck is that villain?' The deep male's voice sounded in your head, you raised your hands to find green and orange glove covered fingers that were definitely not yours. Large slim bracers that were similar in style to his original costume had been streamlined for his recent costume hung at your forearms.
"Over here Dynamite!"
Your head snapped at the manical laughter that followed the sing-song voice bouncing through the rubble. At top of the pile stood the object of your search, his hands splayed as violet energy swirled around his fingers.
"I think you finally met your match Mr. Future number one hero! I'm going to put you and every other hero six feet under and you'll never see the light of day again!"
The villain's lips split into a wide unnerving smile that chilled your blood to the core, "We'll just see about that dipshit!"
You found yourself yelling back at the villain before your body began moving of it's own volition, arms falling behind and a blast of heat filling your palms. The blasts of fire rocketed your body forward only to be slammed by an unseen force, body shooting back into the rubble you had been standing a moment before. Violet tendrils of every began shooting one after another into your chest, the searing pain as each ripped into skin and tore away. This continued for what felt like hours, but was only seconds before the barrage stopped.
The Villain stepped down with his clunky boots, his steps louder than the blood pumping in your ears. He clicked his teeth like a disappointed father, "Oh Dynamite, you always thought you were so much better than everyone else. But you bleed red just like the rest of us, look!"
He raised his fingers and you watched as blood that had been pouring from your chest just a few moment before began hovering in the air. Confusion filled you when the answer came from the back of your mind, Energy Manipulation. The Villain could manipulate any type of energy including the body's that would be inside the blood.
"Oh so pretty, maybe I'll take a sample for later." The sick fuck placed the blood into a vial and then turned his attention back to him. "The question now is how to send you to your grave my dear hero. Do I just cut you up like I did before? Crush you with the largest piece of rubble I can find? Oh! Maybe I can use your own quirk against you! Oh the irony to be killed by your own power…"
Your body shook in fear as those wild eyes looked you over and knelt down near your face. The man's face was familiar… where had you seen him before?
"I think that's what we're going to do." His words were a sinister whisper, your body not responding from all the severed tendons and pain in your limbs. Though you could feel the fight inside still trying to move and defend yourself as the villain stood back to his full height.
Raising his hand the violet energy started once again, slowly fading into a deep red. The searing pain returned that filled from head to toe as your veins felt as if they were on fire. It was as if small explosions were going off all over your body and the energy he began pushing through your body with force. Your voice failed you as cracking began sounding from your chest, a large snap finally made your body go cold.
You gasped in vain attempts to catch your breath, the taste of something metallic filled your mouth and you coughed in attempts to clear your throat. Hot liquid filled your mouth as you continued gasping for air.
Somebody help me! I can't die, I'm going to be number one! How am I losing to this extra?
The thoughts began to fill your head and started to fade away as the cold began seeping into your joints. Eyes staring up to the sky now as the Villian let out one more laugh, sirens and civilian's screams filling the empty space. Calling Dynamite's name to get up, keep fighting!
The villain turned on his heels, gravel and rock crunching under his boots he knew it was time to escape before the next wave of heroes arrived. Listening to the boot falls fade away you lay there, unmoving, unable to lift yourself and release the strain on your chest. Trying to access yourself and your racing thoughts were impossible as you listened to the fading last thoughts the hero had before his final moment.
Where was Deku? He was supposed to be here… I'm cold…. Hurts…
You found yourself now looking down from your own self, knowing Bakugo was gone now from his body. Your chest squeezed at his dull, unseeing crimson eyes stared blankly at the sky.
Leaning down you felt at his chest and found exactly what you knew, the explosions the Villain had forced had snapped his ribs and punctured his heart. There would've been no saving him.
"Deku? What are you doing here?"
The familiar voice snapped your attention to the familiar blonde standing with his ripped up hero costume. His memory showing his first moments as a spirit when the number two hero came into your view to pick up the body that lay at your feet.
"Kaachan…" The man whispered as he shook him in attempts to wake him, his voice following into a blood chilling scream at his realization he was gone.
With a gasp you found yourself back in your own body, hot tears fell down your cheeks when Bakugo's hands were snatched from your own.
-----------
"What the fuck?" He snarled, holding his hands against his chest.
"I knew it was bad but i didn't know it was that bad…" You whispered, eyes meeting his to find streaks of tears falling down his own flushed cheeks.
"Yeah well… Dying sucks. Also it takes a lot to kill someone like me so why wouldn't it be bad?" He snapped as you wiped your face from the falling water.
"Do you understand now how you died?"
His eyes met yours once more and he nodded slowly. "Punctured my heart with my ribs, Used my fucking quirk against me."
Chewing your lip you affirmed and patted your hand against your own chest. "That really sucked." You chuckled the last words out and he followed with a chuckle of his own.
"Yeah… It really did." Your gazes met for a few moments, no words shared as the silence fell between you. It really did feel like a big barrier had gotten out of the way. You know knew what he experienced in his last moments of life, his skin was warm even in death most likely due to his quirk and his hands were surprisingly soft, yet rough in all the right places.
Standing suddenly to break the tension, you crossed to the kitchen and opened the fridge. "Well now that's out of the way, are you hungry?"
"I'm never hungry… but I could eat."
Shaking your head you mumbled about knowing he could always eat but decided on a meal anyway. He joined in the prep in silence and once again shoved you out of the way as he did most times. The meal was ate in continued silence and you washed the dishes after out of fairness.
"Well after today I really need some sleep. What do you think?"
He stretched his body like a cat against the back of the couch, falling over to lay down with his head against the arm rest.
"Fuck yeah I need a ten year nap after that." Smiling you leaned over and poked his cheek, he turned in shock and caught that wide smile.
"It's over for you now ghost boy. I can touch you now."
"That's kinky." He winked and you let your palm come down on his cheek in retaliation.
"I was going to offer to let you sleep in my bed but not now!"
HIs eyes went wide and he pouted. "Don't be stingy, the couch is uncomfortable!"
"Should've thought about that before you were a pervert!"
Slamming the bedroom door, you closed your eyes and slid down the door to a seat. Crossing your arms over your knees you inhaled deeply.
His death had really been one of the worst you had ever experienced… and you had been shot, stabbed, and even buried alive once…
Climbing into bed you heard a soft knock on the door.
"What dammit?" You growled and he poked his head through the door without opening it. Seeing you were still decent he slipped through and stood like a kid about to tell his mom he "frew up."
"Can I sleep in here… please?" He grumbled and you hid your smile under the blanket you had pulled up around your lower half.
"I guess." You rolled your eyes as if it was a huge inconvenience for you.
Hopping over you he took his spot on the other side and curled into the blankets, you found yourself hissing at the cold when the blanket left your body.
"Hell no! Share!"
He smirked and shook his head, you whined at his stupidly handsome face and attempted to snatch the blanket back. Gripping the cloth he yanked back and forth until he finally gave it one final tug and with a squeal you found yourself over top the blonde.
You both froze as your hands held yourself above him, eyes meeting as his face flushed ten shades of tomato red. His large palms sat on either side of your hips fingers tightening just a bit into your skin, heat filling the where his met yours. The world stopped around you as butterflies found their way into your gut. His gorgeous eyes fell to your lips while chewing the inside of his own for a moment, you were only so far away… What would you taste like?
Before he could lift himself you gave him a swift apology and returned to your side of the bed. Curling the blanket over yourself you buried your flaming face into the material at the possibility of what could of been. He threw his arm over his eyes, hiding his pink ears and rosy cheeks.
Did he really just think about kissing you? Who the hell was he? How the hell did you of all people make him feel this way?
The both of you found sleep a little hard to come by that night.

🤭 Hello there. Yes I know this isn’t a post (I swear I’ll get the last parts of paw prints out soon 🙇‍♀️) I just wanted to do a quick poll for a new fic idea.
So awhile back I saw someone ask if anyone could write a fic about Bakugo and reader being the best man / maid of honor in a wedding… but they hate each other. Like they have to work together and shenanigans occur? Thinking either exes to lovers or rivals to lovers maybe? Let me know if anyone would read this or it’s been done I don’t wanna steal anyone’s thunder.

You awoke that morning with the bright sunlight bullying it's way into your eyes, a groan leaving you as they finally crack open from losing the fight. The sight before you made you shrink back for a brief moment, something you never thought you'd see.
The poltergeist living in your house was laying peacefully across from you in the bed, not one frown line in sight. His stupid handsome face was slack with rest, soft puffs of air passing through those soft looking, pink lips. Though ghosts technically don't require to breath any longer, it was a habit from living most continued after death.
You took the rare opportunity to take in his features that you would otherwise not be able, either a scowl, yelling or annoying the living piss out of you in the meantime would fill this moment. The last time you knew he had been in the bed was the second time you saw him, the first time officially meeting. His messy bangs fell gently onto his forehead, making you wonder if they were as soft and silky as they looked.
Your gaze fell lower to be met with those pools of crimson, blinking slowly at you as a soft frown set into his lips and his brows furrowed.
"Good Morning." You offered with a soft smile, shaking off the embarrassment of being caught watching him sleep like some creeper. He grunted in response while you stretched your limbs out like a cat, groaning from the ache in your muscles from being curled up all night.
"How did you sleep?" You tried again in an attempt at civil conversation after the period of his cold shoulder, a few moments of silence you let out a soft sigh before slipping out of bed and expecting yet another day of silence.
"Like the dead."
Your head whipped back to him, watching as he pulled the blanket up over his nose so only those surprisingly relaxed eyes were visible. He watched as you broke into light laughter at his sudden joke, turning to find clothes for the day.
The clock advised it was later in the afternoon, since you had been up most of the night looking up everything possible about the man... ghost? Whatever he is a man.
"Any plans for the day?"
A grin to yourself knowing full well he couldn't leave, a stuffed toy hit the back of your head as you turned quickly to see him smirk in triumph.
"I can do that now."
Huffing you leaned down to pick up the thrown object, he was really embracing that Poltergeist nickname.
"I have to go shopping for some groceries this afternoon, I was hoping after we could sit and talk?"
You shot him a hopeful look while hugging the stuffed toy to your chest, he rolled his eyes and snuggled back down into the blankets.
"No."
Pursing your lips you cocked your hip to the side, "You're really going to talk to me this morning and then go back to ignoring me?"
He shrugged and flipped his body away from you as he loved to do.
"Fine! Be that way... Bakugo."
His body tensed visibly, turning slowly back towards you with his eyes narrowed into pinpoints. "How the fuck did you learn my name?"
You shot him your best shit eating grin, "Guess you'll have to talk to me later to find out huh?"
Turning on your heel you hid away in the bathroom in order to get ready to pick up essentials needed for later. You had planned out what you wanted to try and wasn't even sure if it would work or not. After your discussion with Mitsuki, you had found out a few things that you hoped would help out with your plan.
The trip to the grocery store was a short one, only throwing in what you needed one at a time. Since you planned to make this short you decided any major grocery shopping would be done another day so you could return quickly.
Once back home you found him no where in the direct vicinity, dumping out your haul on the counter. Placing the items where they belonged that you didn't need and leaving out the fixing for dinner you were about to make.
"The fuck did you buy? Half the store?"
The voice behind you made you turn quickly, finding him standing a little close for comfort. He had been peering over your head at what you were digging out of the bags, your hands gripped the counter behind you.
"You really need a damn bell sometimes!" You spat, turning back as heat found it's way into your cheeks from the proximity.
"I'm not a fucking cat, Those shits hate me." He moved to your side now, picking up a head of lettuce and eyeing a few other things as he simply ran his fingers over some of them in what seemed to be experimentation. Not being able to touch simple objects for several years had to be fustrating.
Snatching the vegetable from his fingers while managing to avoid touching him as a scowl deepened onto his face.
"I suddenly have the urge to get a cat."
To be honest Toshi had an older cat he had adopted back in high school. It had passed not too long before our lease had come due, we had discussed adopting another down the road once settled into our new place. However their mission had put the thought on hold, getting your own now that you knew they 'hated' the ghost that annoyed you was sounding like a wonderful plan.
He was in for a rude awakening when the roommates returned.
Ignoring your words, he placed two large hands on the counter and leaned beside you while watching you prep ingredients.
"The hell you makin'?" His voice finally broke the silence as you let a breath of air leave your lips.
"Mapo Tofu." His brow quirked in interest, his hand reaching over to slide a knife from the block.
You eyed him from the corner warily, "You designed to kill me now?"
He scoffed and snatched the item you had prepared to cut from your hand and sliding the cutting board his direction. You blinked in surprise as you watched how he purposely avoided skin contact.
"Not yet." He responded as his arm began moving up an down in soft chopping motions. The whole ordeal felt strangely domestic as both of you stood arms almost brushing but far enough apart while working on your own part of the meal. Silence drifted between both of you until not being able to stand it any longer, you flipped on the radio hanging under the counter. Your favorite station filling the space instead.
Words were not shared as he finished placing the now chopped up ingredients into the waiting bowl, watching him with interest as he began digging into your spice cabinet. Setting out the spiciest ones you owned.
"Did you cook often... before?" Deciding to try and start conversation he froze for a brief moment, hand holding a chili pepper over the pan. His eyes dropped towards yours.
"Sometimes, Fast food is shit for you. Prefer to make my own, I'm a damn good cook." A soft smile crossed your lips at his taking part of the conversation. "You don't cook a lot."
You nodded at his observation, adding your own ingredient into the pan to simmer. "Honest, I get lazy. It's sometimes easier to just pop something in the microwave or oven and move on."
He huffed as if that was the stupidest thing he had ever heard, "You should try more often, it's healthier for you." Shrugging your shoulders in response, "Maybe."
He bullied you from the pans, adding his own spices and a few other things he pulled from the fridge you had not originally set out or planned to add. Deciding to let him take over since that was his clear intent, you hopped onto the counter and kicked your legs back and forth while watching him work.
"I spoke with your mom."
His back stiffened, his hand stirring the sauce froze as those vermillion eyes met yours over his broad shoulder. "And?"
Fidgeting with your fingers and contemplating how much you wanted to admit about looking him up or asking his mom.
"She told me a lot about you."
His face softened into a look you had never seen on him before, though brief, you could see a sadness creep into his features before settling back into his stoic face.
"Like what?"
You sat there swinging your legs for sometime, recounting some of the things she told you while he tended to dinner. Some of the embarrassing stories had him visibly cringing and huffing in annoyance that his mom had revealed his deep dark secrets to you.
You actually found yourself laughing at his off handed comments he made, openly discussing in more details about some of the things she had told you.
He told you about the time he got his quirk, he had been playing ball in the back yard with a friend who jumped out of a bush to scare him. He had pushed his hands out to defend himself when sparks had lit up his fingers.
You heard about his meeting Izuku Midoriya who became "Deku" because it was the nickname he gave when they were kids.
The burner turned off with a click as he turned to inform you after his last story, "Dinner is done Spooky."
Chuckling softly you hopped down and collected plates from the cupboard. He eyed you with a cocked brow when you grabbed enough for him as well.
"I can't eat all of this by myself can I?" You offered a plate to him as he raised a hesitant hand to grip it, his eyes then trailing to the stove longingly.
"I don't know if I can." His voice was surprisingly soft and barely there as you grabbed a utensil and added some to his plate.
"Of course you can, you don't have to, but you can eat." Serving yourself and handing him his eating utensils with a reassuring smile.
Leading him to the island you sat down and placed your hands together in the traditional prayer as he occupied the seat beside you. HIs palms rested on his thighs or a few moments before he finally picked up the spoon and took a small bite. An audible groan left him as you smirked, watching him from the corner of your eye.
"You're fucked now." He spoke as you coughed on a mouthful. "What?"
He grinned at you after finishing his next bite, "I'm going to eat you out of house and home."
Sighing deeply, you knew he would do just that out of spite. "That's Great."
Taking a piece of tofu you placed it inside your lips as your own groan involuntarily left your lips. A deep chuckle beside you made you freeze.
Did Bakugo just laugh?
"Told you I'm a good fucking chef." He took another bite as you followed along, a smile on your face from the flavorful meal he had prepared. Fuck being a poltergeist, he could be your personal chef!
"You should do this more often, I'll love you forever." Shoving another bite into your mouth as yet another chuckle left him.
"Careful what you wish for Darlin'."
A piece caught in your throat as heat filled your face, watching his devilish grin cross those lips. "Don't say shit like that!" Swiping your spoon at him he ducked easily with a laugh.
"Oh, you don't like that one? How about... Angel?" He leaned forward, breath softly brushing the skin of your nose, you leaned back with a squeak.
He let his head fall back in full belly laughter that was music to your ears. It was the most beautiful sound you had ever heard, even at your expense it was something you wanted to hear always. A soft puff of air left your nose affectionately as you wiped the tears from your eyes.
"Your face is just too good when embarrassed." He caught hold of himself as you rolled your eyes and finished up the last bit of your meal. Thanking him for the meal as you stood to take the plate to the dishwasher.
Afterwards you turned back to see he still had a few left himself. "This is much better than arguing you know."
He eyed you with a slight tilt of his head in confusion, reminding you of a puppy and pulling at your heart strings.
"The fuck you mean?"
Then he has to open his mouth.
Shrugging and leaning back against the sink, "Laughing, sharing a meal and joking with each other. Not annoying the other to death just to see them upset?"
He chewed thoughtfully on his last bite, pushing himself back a bit. "Yeah, too much fun though." Shaking your head with a smile he leaned past you to place his dishes in the sink. "I cooked, you wash the damn dishes."
His voice was soft, relaxed even as his eyes matched with not a hint of annoyance or malicious intent. Your own eyes dared to glance up into his, the moment stretching longer than planned as neither of you spoke. Clearing your throat after realizing just how long you had been staring before turning from the handsome man so close. You could almost feel his body heat, strange even though the man was dead. It was something you could not explain.
"Anyway, I hope we can be friends since we're going to be living here together as Roommates basically."
He nodded slightly before passing by into the living space, flopping onto the couch as he reached for the laptop you had brought out before leaving for the store.
You had just flipped on the sink to wash the pans when you saw what he was reaching for, knowing you had yet to close out of the pages from your search. Rushing into the room you tried to grab the object as he hit a button to wake it, His reflexes still fast as ever he snatched the object out of your reach when he saw you reach for it.
With a whine you watched as his face lit up in amusement, looking at the posts you had been reading. "Doing some reading on me huh?" His eyes met yours with that devilishly handsome grin that made your head fuzzy.
"Your mom told me your name so I thought I'd get to know who you wer- Are." Grumbling you fidgeted with your fingers as he snorted, reading a bit into the articles.
His amusement quickly faded the more he read, that same sadness settling back into his features.
"You don't... have to read them you know."
He nodded and clicked on an article about the dedication ceremony UA had for renaming the battle center in his honor.
"They have my fucking suit!" He growled, looking over the photo showing the display case. After a moment he continued reading and then eyed you from the corner.
"Don't you have the water on?"
A gasp from you as you realized he was correct, rushing over and turning it off. Hanging your head over the sink you gave a short memorial, RIP your water bill.
Dishes could wait, you returned to the couch and found Bakugo paused in scrolling with his eyes squeezed shut. Sitting beside him you let him know you were there gently.
"Bakugo?"
He shoved the device away from onto the table with a clatter, leaning back into the couch with a far away stare.
"I don't want to be dead."
Chewing your lip you watched as his gaze fell to the floor, narrowing in obvious frustration. His jaw tensed as he ground his teeth, after a brief moment you cleared your throat and his eyes met yours once again.
"I don't know what it means to be dead, though I have a connection to the spirit world... it's different. I haven't experienced what you've been through, I do know hearing from the Reapers though that passing on is like a paradise."
He huffed and rolled his eyes, "You sound like Grim, I ain't passing on."
Nodding you laced your fingers in your lap, "That's your choice, though I do think sitting here and thinking on everything you lost isn't going to help. Just hurt in the end."
He leaned forward and clasped his own hands as he glared holes into your table. "Yeah, well what else is there to do? I've only got a few fucking months left and then it'll be all over."
Cocking a brow your interest was peeked. "Is this about your deal?"
His eyes snapped to yours, "The fuck you know about my deal?"
Shaking your head softly you continued, "I don't know the terms, wasn't even sure if it was you I heard about but this confirms things. Other than that I know things are not in your favor."
A growl sounded from his throat, lip curling into a snarl. "Yeah, Fucking Grim gave me a doozy of a deal. Then left me with shit terms so it makes it damn near impossible for me to win."
Tilting your head he shook his own, "I ain't telling you about my deal so don't ask."
Shrugging you chose to turn on the tv and offered him the remote. He eyed it as if you had spit on his ancestor's grave. "I won't ask, it's not my business. In the meantime, Friends?"
He simply stared for sometime before taking the device and turning his attention to the connecting object so he could choose the program.
"Sure, Friends."
----------------
The next few weeks flew by quickly now that Bakugo and you were on "Friend" terms. There were less angry words and pranks against one another, though from time to time they continued out of pure boredom. You heard from Hitoshi a few days ago that their mission continues to go well; However they would still be gone for some time.
You were now a few months in the house without them... well as alone as you can be with a roommate that rivals the ghost of an angry porcupine.
Ending your current call with a huff you set the phone on the couch cushion a bit rougher than necessary. Bakugo narrowed his eyes at you for disturbing his peace of watching a documentary that had been released on him. He loved to watch and critique like some movie critique, what they got right, what they got wrong.
You rubbed the bridge of your nose, no cases have come up within the last few weeks and since your poltergeist had decided to eat everything in sight once he knew he could, money was starting to run low. Rent would be due in a few days, where Hitoshi had sent you their portion, you were running a little low. The call had been to the precinct to see if they had any current cases that would benefit your services, hell you even considered calling some local hero agencies to see if they needed a backup for patrols, someone who was out on leave etc. There was a reason you held onto your hero license.
"The fuck is wrong with you? Over here huffing like a damn cow." His crimson stare bore into the side of your head as he awaited your response. His arms raised to easily block the pillow swung for his insult, sticking his tongue out at you as you discarded the object between you at the failed attempt.
"First off, Fuck you. Secondly no cases to speak of, the only one would be a follow up on an old case. It still involves kids and I told him I was done with those."
A cocked brow was your only reply and you rolled your eyes knowing he wanted the details. "I took a case a couple weeks ago about this little girl that had been hit by a car... She was one of a string that had occurred so I went and checked it out to see if I could find the culprit. I got some good evidence but it sounds like this guy is thorough, no sign of his car or anything. But last night another kid got hit, same car description and plate."
Sinking back into the couch your fingertips began massaging your temples now, "Kid lived, thank the stars. They're in bad shape but still gave a full description that matched perfectly with what we know. Law enforcement has been unable to locate it. Shit news is If I want to pay rent and for your food habits then this is the only case right now."
He nodded remembering the few cases he had to take on involving crimes against children. It had always turned his stomach when he knew a minor was involved. He could only imagine her feelings in the fact that with dealing these types of situations the child didn't make it. In his interactions at least most times the kids were going to be okay... eventaully.
"So what do they need you for if the brat lived?"
You rolled your head to look at him against the couch, "The kid I spoke with passed onto the afterlife, however there are still past victims out there I could contact. They want someone familiar on the case and since I was able to actually get people to talk last time they want me to join the facilitator of the case... Deku."
Bakugo's jaw set, visible annoyance filled his face. "Fucking Deku?" Nodding to confirm before explaining he had been leading the investigation for some time so naturally he would be the one to team up with.
Low grumbles continued to fall from his lips as you picked up your device once again to reluctantly accept the case. Message was sent between the inspector and the green clad hero in a group message, immediate responses from both of them showing their excitement you had agreed to come aboard. Your phone's keyboard clicked as you requested where you would be meeting up while continued curses sounded from the ghost beside you. They finally silenced when yet another chime of your phone cut him off, his lip curling into annoyance.
"Who the fuck are you texting that's got you grinning like a freak?" His long fingers snatched the device from your hand as a whine of annoyance slipped from your throat.
"Do you exist to give me gray hairs?" He snorted while thumbing through your screen, how he was able to activate the item was beyond your comprehension but finally the device was tossed back into your lap with the flick of his wrist.
The last message came in from Deku himself stating that he was going to revisit one of the crime scenes shortly should you be interested in joining. You shot a quick message you'd be there shortly and pocketed the device. Leaving the bane of your existence on the couch to make your way upstairs and locate your costume case once again from the closet.
Finding the case on the top shelf you heaved a sigh, all the crime in the world and not a single case besides this one you could work.
In the costume now you glanced over yourself in the full length mirror, running a hand over your curves. You tilted your head, Is it too late to become a stripper?
.....Nah
Now fully decked out in your costume you styled your hair and applied a bit of makeup around your eyes to go with the mask and finish the look. Once back in the living room you found the blonde still perched on the couch, arms crossed to show off his hard earned muscles. His eyes wandered over to you and widened ever so slightly but enough that you caught it. His eyes began slowly lowering down your entire frame and then raising back up to meet yours, heat filled your cheeks as the attractive man checked out your costume that fit you in all the right places.
"That's your hero suit?" He lip curled into a faux sneer, secretly wishing he could put his own on at least one more time. He had originally been in his costume however Grim had thought he would be more comfortable in something he wore daily so she had taken his suit somewhere never to be seen again.
"Yes, simple but sleek for a ghost quirk hero. Why? You don't like it?"
His shoulders rose and fell in a shrug, biting his tongue to keep from vocalizing what he actually thought about the hot woman he enjoyed terrorizing. So he simply went with, "Mine was cooler."
A loud laugh erupted from your chest, raising your hands to splay your fingers wide on either side. "Sorry my costume doesn't have cool hair extensions like yours did."
"That was my original costume you absolute fuck! When I was a damn teenager! I got rid of those my second year."
He pouted as your phone went off in your hidden pocket. Deku was on his way to the site so you quickly grabbed a light snack from the fridge and placed your mask on the bridge of your nose. The Poltergeist named Bakugo began digging into the fridge for something of his own when you caught his attention above the door.
Placing your hand under your chin you wiggled your fingers at him, "Don't wait up honey I'll be late." Sticking your tongue out at him for full effect he scoffed and stood to his full height.
He returned your gesture of waiving his fingers under his chin with a "Be safe you spooky bitch."
"You know I will."
Your eyes rolled when he leaned down, face hovering just over yours. His voice lowered into a tone you had never heard come from him before.
"Good girl."
Heat filling your cheeks once again you tossed the wrapper of your treat into his face while he threw his head back into full on laughter.
"Fucking tease!" You squealed while hauling ass out of the door.
----------------
The drive to the meeting site was short, finding yourself back in the lower end neighborhood of your city. Darkness started to creep into the sky when you saw the tall hero waiving his arm frantically in your direction.
"Hi Phantom!" His thousand-watt smile blinded you as you waived your hand. "Tone down the enthusiasm sir, it's too early for this."
He cocked his head with confusion spreading into his features. "It's eight in the evening?"
Shrugging you began walking next to him down the sidewalk, "I said what I said."
During your stroll down the walk he ran you through what you had missed since the last time you worked the situation. Apparently the car had resurfaced finally even if unfortunate circumstances. He hoped we would find one of his other victims around so we could try to get more information since none of the living were still willing to help. In the meantime, wandering around the area would at least get more hero patrols in the area that rarely sees hero attention.
The patrol was mostly in silence and you finally broke it after awhile. "So how is your fiancé and the wedding preparations?"
A fond smile crossed his features, soft freckles lining the apples of his cheeks as they glowed in the street lights above. Too bad the hero had been taken, he really had grown into quite the handsome man. Generous, honest and closing in on that number one spot, he really had taken the "Symbol of peace" seriously once had graduated our alma matter.
"Aw they're great! We booked a venue the other day, decided on fall of next year when the leaves are just turning colors. They absolutely adore fall, and I... well I adore them. So I plan on giving them their favorite time of year."
Your lips spread in a smile as he went on and on about the wedding. They had chosen muted colors to stay with the theme of fall, little handmade center pieces his mother insisted to make. Everyone would be getting their own little treat bags as thanks for joining them on their special day.
He shocked you when he mentioned even All Might himself would be making an appearance, even after being wheelchair bound now with his body catching up to him a few years ago. The former her would be his best man, since his first choice was... no longer available.
Your heart sank as you watched sadness fill the heroes eyes, knowing exactly who he was referring to. His childhood friend taken too soon.
You found yourself wondering if he was still here, would he have said yes? Hearing his stories of "Deku" he spoke with annoyance in his voice, but getting to know the man you could tell it was a front for his fondness of his childhood friend.
A screech of tires snapped both of you out of your funks as a car skirted around the corner, clearly in a hurry for something. A mother and her young child were walking on the opposite sidewalk, hand in hand with bright smiles as she listened intently on how his school day went.
"Deku!" You managed a call out, noting the make and model of the car matching the description as the vehicle everyone had been searching for. Both of you sprang into action with practiced speed as the car quickly gained ground, suddenly swerving into the path to take out the oblivious young child.
The boy was light in your arms as long black tendrils wrapped around the mother's waist, yanking her out of the way of the speeding vehicle. Your hand curled around his small back and the other placed on top of his head as you knelt, the moving car passing straight through while screams filled your ear drums.
Tires screeched once again as the vehicle came to a halt, your head raising to quickly appraise the boy for any signs of injuries. Fat tears rolled down his rosy cheeks, his wide eyes taking in your costume.
"Avery!" The woman's voice rang across the street as she clung to your partner, her arms opening wide as he tore himself from your own. Standing quickly you turned attention on the vehicle that was now sitting idling nearby. Dark eyes returned your glare above the roof of the vehicle.
A medical mask covered the bottom of his long face, greasy hair hanging in tendrils around his shoulders as his eyebrows scrunched up into pure rage.
"You bitch! I had him!" His crooked finger pointed in your direction as you raised your own middle in response, showing exactly what you thought of him.
"Sucks to be you shit head! You're going to Tartarus for killing those kids!"
His raspy voice resonated through the dark, empty street. A cackle that chilled every last drop of blood in your body.
"You'll have to catch me first, whore."
Green lightning crackled loudly as it replaced his ugly laugh, lighting up the street. The dark eyes of the villain widening when he realized who stood just behind you.
"I don't have to... He will."
The man barely got back inside the driver's seat when the speed of the number two proved too much for him, pulling the scum from his seat. He now sat on the curb with quirk cancelling cuffs around his wrists while you radioed to the police that the hit and run villain had finally been caught.
The man sat glaring holes into a suddenly interesting rock at his feet while both of you stood guard until the authorities arrived.
"That was anticlimactic, I thought he'd at least give a better chase." Crossing your arms you kicked said rock from the villain's view.
The hero huffed a soft laugh, "Sorry about that, I think I was a little angry seeing him almost take the life of another."
A grin crossed your lips as a soft tug at your suit caught your attention. "Miss Hero?"
Your eyes lowered to find a violet colored pair, the young boy who had been in your arms not moments prior trying to get your attention. You lowered yourself to his level, balancing on the heels of your boots. Barely stabilized little arms suddenly flung around your neck, a squeak of surprise leaving you as he squeezed on as tight as he could. Letting out a low sigh you slowly returned the hug and squeezed him back.
His little thank you in your ear had hot tears staining your cheeks, grateful you had been fast enough to grab the boy before the unthinkable could happen again.
"You are so welcome little man."
Releasing the boy just a little bit your hands hovered over his sides as he ran his short, stubby fingers over your cheeks to try and collect the tears as they fell.
"Don't cry! You're my hero! You know what helps when I cry? Ice cream!"
A short strangled laugh left your throat and left a smile as Deku placed a large, gloved hand on the boy's head. "I'll make sure she gets ice cream young man, I think in the mean time your mother is waiting for you over there. We need to get this bad guy to the police."
He nodded and thanked your green clad partner as well, the mother giving him the biggest hug before she made her way over and threw her arms around you as well.
"Getting all the hugs today." You mumbled so softly that the words were lost on the mother. Lights filled the area as police cars pulled in one by one in a hurry, uniformed officers stepping out and taking the man into custody.
Inspector Tsukauchi exited his personal vehicle, clad in his casuals as he crossed over and clasped Deku on his back. "You two did amazing. We finally got the son of a bitch and they'll never hurt another child again!"
"Good because I never want to experience that ever again." Crossing your arms and narrowing your eyes into a glare towards the dark eyed man who sent you a hateful look. He was pushed into the car and his mask fell, revealing long needle sharp teeth he bared in your direction.
"Don't think this is over bitch!" His voice muffled as the car door slammed into place, making him jump back a bit.
"He'll never see the light of day again if I have anything to say about it." The salt and pepper haired inspector patted his badge attached to his night shirt.
"That's quite the look sir, trying for a new uniform?" You teased and he swatted at you playfully, dodging his weak attempt you giggled.
"I was at home relaxing and reading a good book when the call came in, I figured this was more important."
Once again you were informed to stay on standby for the trial in the event they wanted you to testify since he was finally in custody. The man had taken the lives of three children and hospitalized one more before this final last ditch attempt. A pair of little eyes peeked around an officer who was taking the mother's statement.
His hand clasped another pair of stubby fingers as the other came into view. You sucked in a deep breath upon recognizing their faces from the photos from the original briefing with the inspector. They both waved their opposite free hands and mouthed a 'Thank you' in your direction.
They both turned to each grab a hand of the waiting man in a suit, one on either side as they faded from view while no one else but yourself watched.
Leaning back into the brick building you inhaled to keep the tears away once again with your eyes screwed shut.
"Phantom?"
Your eyes opened once more to find those of your temporary partner.
"I just wanted to thank you for your help on this today... and to give you this."
He pressed something into your hand with his bright smile and turned away to answer the questions of another office as you looked down.
In your hand was a card with very expensive feeling texture, you flipped the item over to read;
"You are cordially invited to the wedding..."
A soft chuckle left your lips as you pocketed the card and strode towards your car.
You're damn right you're going to that wedding.

Afterlife
Part Five - Playing Investigator
Summary: After awhile of your poltergeist giving you the cold shoulder it's time to find out who he really is. Maybe you can finally help him cross over to the other side and get out of your hair! Oh and Katsuki gets an unexpected visit when an 'old friend' decides to stop by.
Warnings: Cursing, Mentions of death/dying, talks of depression, loss of a child.

When your resident poltergeist snapped at you and disappeared up the stairs the shock had filled your entire body at the sudden anger he displayed at your question. Though the anger itself didn't surprise you, spending the last few weeks at the other side of his attitude while he existed to make your life hell. Maybe you had gone a bit far with your teasing.
Having annoyed the piss out of you for the last two months since he appeared, though he was excited you could see him it had not been a barrel of laughs for you. Using sage, calling in exorcists and even reaching out to a reaper contact you had kept to see what could be done to remove him since he had informed you on multiple occasions by now that he had no intention of moving on anytime soon.
You had even tried to force him out with your quirk at one point, all that earned was a quick trip to the restroom and painting the toilet with your stomach's contents.
Your contact advised that he was most likely bound to the property which checks out why he kept telling you he couldn't leave. That and every time he had followed you through the yard he had stopped just before the property ended at either the wall or gate. That glare of envy following you as you pulled away in your car.
They had also mentioned that he had heard rumblings from a close friend of his that a reaper had broken the rules, making a deal with one of her charges. Promising to return them to life if they fulfill a certain condition, however since they were bound to their house the deal would most likely fall into the reaper's favor. This had made you wonder, could the deal be your poltergeist's? Unfortunately your contact had no interest in sharing if this was the case because they simply didn't care hard enough to get the name.
A cough from deep in your chest brought you back to present. You were sprawled out on your bed, deep in thought about the last few days of peace and quiet. Which you hardly thought you would ever get again what with your new ash blonde "roommate".
You gripped the corner of your laptop and drug it to you, flipping open the lid and deciding to take the imitative to find out more about your unwanted houseguest.
You began the search with hero deaths in the last... was it five years he had let slip? Your screen lit up with way too many results for your liking, it seems there had been a spike in hero related deaths in that time frame alone.
You couldn't ask him obviously, his anger radiated through the house and since he had not appeared physically to you in the last few days it had given the term "Cold Shoulder" a new one. When you did see him, he simply glared and moved on to another room or disappeared from sight.
Who could you call? What could you search?
Irritable blonde pro heroes who died? Annoying as hell pro heroes who are on the other hand hot?
Groaning you reviewed the facts, he didn't look much older than you however he had been dead for five years. He would be at least mid twenties if he hadn't kicked the bucket. Would've been just starting his hero career, cut down in his prime. He seemed to perk up whenever an old All Might movie, or documentary would show up on tv. You were immediately vetoed on that, so you had to have seen almost every one in existence by now. Most likely the hero was one of his biggest idols. Then again who didn't idolize him? Deku attributed a lot of his success in interviews and award speeches to the blonde haired symbol.
Your phone rang out while you scrolled the many obituary listings, making your heart threaten to leap from your throat. Jamming your thumb at the answer button upon seeing the name.
"Hitoshi Shinso! Where the fuck have you been? I haven't heard from you in weeks and you were only supposed to be gone for a couple!"
Silence was your reply before a deep exhale of exhaustion sounded from the other side. "I know, believe me I do. This mission is taking so much longer than we thought it would. There was a breakthrough in the beginning and we all thought it was going to resolve the case shortly. However new evidence just came to light and now we're not so sure. To be honest with you... I don't know when we'll be back."
You released your own heavy sigh while listening to his words.
"Are you safe Toshi?"
He affirmed that Kami and he were being safe, they didn't see too much danger to themselves but the perpetrator they were after was an important one. Apparently he had been responsible for multiple deaths of Heroes five years ago, resurfacing once again recently to take back up the mantle and going after heroes with a vengeance.
The guys had gone undercover to find out what they could dig up since they were on the lesser known spectrum of the hero charts in Japan. Which is why they didn't pull in the big names as of yet, such as Deku, Shoto, Red Riot being the current two through four. Not even any elder heroes still on the scene such as Hawks, Miriko or even Eraserhead who had lost one of his students to the villain.
Kaminari jumped onto the phone for a brief moment to say hello while he could, hearing about your outing with his friends awhile back. He handed the phone back to his boyfriend when it hit you.
"Hey, I need to tell you while I have you what has been going on while you've been gone."
His interest peaked he gave a "Oh?" To prompt a continuation.
"I've been... Seeing someone."
Two audible gasps could be heard over the phone, clearly Kaminari was still listening and confirmed you were on speakerphone.
"You finally jumped into the dating scene? I'm so proud of you!"
You pouted, was it really so far fetched you would find someone romantically?
Wait! No! Not like that!
"Whoa, no he's no-" Before you could finish urgent voices were interrupting on the other side.
"Hey F/N, I am so sorry and I will love to hear about your new Beau as soon as I can, but the target has struck again. Low level hero, but they're in critical condition and we need to go. I'll call again when I can, expect our portion of rent and utilities in the account here soon and I don't know when but I'll get back to you as soon as I can."
Knowing fully well from your short few times in undercover work the situation they were in you assured them you loved them and would wait to hear back. They gave a round of "Love you too's" before the line went dead.
Closing your eyes for a second and letting the phone fall onto the bed. The last few moments you were with your best friend replayed through your head when a flash of a blonde woman with a striking resemblance to the one who has been haunting you for the last few weeks.
You scrolled through your phone once more and found the name of said woman. Hitting the call button you waited only a few rings before a click as the call connected.
"Hello dear, is something wrong with the house?"
"Mrs. Bakugo! How are you?"
Pleasantries were exchanged along with small talk about how things have been in your first couple months.
"So what can I do for you dear?"
"I wanted to call, and maybe ask you a weird question? I was hoping you could confirm something for me. Was there possibly a past tenant, prior to us?"
She hummed a moment before responding, "There hasn't been a past tenant, just us. We bought the house many years ago and only recently decided to rent it out. It sat vacant when we bought our new place for awhile and then when we did finally decide to post for rent you were the first to inquire. Why do you ask?"
Mulling your brain for a moment on how to ask the next question as sensitive as possible, "I hate to ask, but did you possibly have a child?"
She didn't respond for a moment but cleared her throat when she did, "Yes, we did. Are you referring to the notches on the door frame to the rear bedroom? If they bother you we can have it replaced."
You shook your head, remembering only then she couldn't actually see you. "No, no don't do that, I wouldn't want to take away the character of your home. This is part of the history here, I just... wanted to ask, was he possibly blonde, unruly hair sticking out in all angles with striking ruby colored eyes? Taller with a gym build?"
She once again remained silent for a moment before responding in a strangled voice, "That sounds like my boy, did you find some photos we left possibly?"
"No Ma'am, this may be odd to hear but I've been... seeing someone around the house with that description. I was wondering if he was possibly someone breaking into the home or a past tenant trying to get back in."
Soft sobs sounded from the line as you frowned, you really did not wish to make her cry with the questions. Though it confirms exactly what you thought, your poltergeist was the landlady's son.
"HIs name was Katsuki, Katsuki Bakugo." She sniffled, "He was a Hero, been gone for five years now. A villain attacked the city and he got in their way. I don't think he's the one you're seeing honey."
She began telling you a bit about him when you asked, once she got going it was like hearing one of Midoriya's theory speeches, it never ended. Starting from childhood to high school, you got the down low on "the brat" as she put it, up to the very last time she spoke to him.
It had been Mothers' day that year, while she was in conversations with his father at their dining table Katsuki had walked into the front door with a huge bouquet of red roses. He had simply pressed a kiss to her cheek and told he loved her which had 'shocked her all to hell' because their relationship had always been a cat and dog type situation. He didn't stay long, he had a big mission coming up and only a few days later they had heroes at their door to reveal his passing.
His hero name had been 'Dynamite' which rang a bell somewhere in the back of your head, most likely hearing that name at some time, most likely the news. You filed that away in your notes to search after the call concluded.
Her stories had gotten quite animated, coming up with memory after memory of him as you learned a few new things about the man who had made such an impression on you thus far.
He went to UA high school just like you, he wanted to be the number one hero, enjoyed romance manga and movies. 'Though if you were to ask him he'd deny it to his last breath.' she chuckled a bit. A few laughs had been shared before she finally let out a big sigh after going on about him for upwards of an hour at this point.
I apologized to her for asking the hard questions and my intruder had to be someone else. For dragging out the hard memories and she had told you off gently for apologizing. She let you know she actually enjoyed getting to reminisce about her son after bottling up for so many years, since she had not been able to really discuss with her husband due to both of their deep depression stints right after it was like a weight lifted.
"I think he would've liked you dear, he was quite feisty just like you. He might've even been a good match for you." She sighed in the thought that never would be, you chewed your lip knowing that he was somewhere nearby even if still on the plane of the dead.
Exchanging farewells, she insisted you would need to stop by for dinner some time. She missed cooking for someone other than her husband and your chest tightened at the implication.
"Of course Mrs. Bakugo, I'll stop by sometime if you'll have me."
"Ah! I told you to call me Mitsuki! You're welcome anytime." The phone hung up and you returned your attention to the laptop once again, now armed with new information to search. Clearing out your previous search term you replaced it with a simple one.
Katsuki Bakugo
Peering around to see if the subject of your search was anywhere around, adding a bit of your quirk's energy into your pupils to boost and confirm he was out of the immediate vicinity. You had kept it to yourself if you chose to use your quirk this way, even if he was trying to block you out, he could be seen with some effort.
Relieved he was no where in site you hit the enter button and watched the page change to new results immediately. Article after article populated the page, notably the top headlines catching your attention.
Rookie Pro-Hero Dynamite slain in recent string of Villain attacks among others.
Endeavor announces retirement! Sites Protégé Dynamite's death as reason.
UA to rename "Ground Delta" training field to "Ground Dynamite" in honor of fallen Alumni Katsuki Bakugo, aka Dynamite
Pro Heroes- Deku, Cellophane, Red Riot, Chargebolt and others reminice about their fallen classmate in this telling interview about the famous Class A of UA high.
Three time champion of the UA Sports festival Katsuki Bakugo tells all on his training regimens he credits to his success.
Choosing to click the first article, you were greeted with a photo of a devastated street. Was this where he died?
Following the photo of the mess, a professional taken photo of the fallen hero stared back at you.
Katsuki Bakugo, aka Dynamite or better known as your Poltergeist smirked back at you through the screen. His signature unruly, blonde hair had some kind of black and orange explosion extensions nestled in the back. A mask enhanced those piercing eyes just like the metal piece that sat upon his built shoulders.
The second photo beside the bust shot showed him in full hero attire, large grenade shaped bracers covered up to below his elbows, real explosive devices hanging from belts at his waist and across his broad chest. The costume fit his personality perfectly, explosive and loud. What was his quirk though? Unfortunately Mitsuki neglected that as the one thing during her stories.
You finished the article about his death and moved on to others, a specific one a few later catching your eye.
Interview with Rookie Hero Dynamite's Debut. Read here about the aspiring hero that recently graduated from UA!
Clicking the link you were met with a similar photo as the first, though visibly a few years younger and fresh from high school. There was even a few photos of his time in school, donning the familiar gray uniform you had wore yourself days on end. The link was a question an answer, and reading his responses did not result anything really new that you either did not know or hadn't already found out from articles or Mitsuki herself.
The final question though made you pause.
Interviewer: So Dynamite, to close out our conversation today there is a pressing question from the viewers. Your quirk is Explosions, Care to elaborate on that? Some citizens are afraid your quirk is too destructive and dangerous for a hero.
Dynamite: Ha! Those extras are just scared of what a real hero looks like! Yeah, my quirk is Explosions. I secrete a nitroglycerin like substance in my sweat that I can ignite with the heat of my palm. I trained at UA and many years during my childhood to become a hero and surpass All Might! I've practiced my quirk day in and out to keep danger to a minimum, so just watch me climb the ranks and keep Japan safe with my "Dangerous quirk!"
You snorted, it sounded like him maybe just a bit more naïve. Explosions huh? Fit him to a T.
For the next few hours you found yourself in a rabbit hole of article after article. Finally rubbing your eyes from the strain of reading a screen you had found the following.
He had won the sports festival all three years he attended and yes you watched every one of his winning fights.
He aspired to be the number one hero and surpass his childhood hero All Might.
He was in the famous Class A that had been attacked by heroes and earned all the new security features that UA had installed after their first semester. He had been kidnapped by the League of Villains during their training camp and was rescued by his hero. (Mentioned some of his fellow classmates had come to help.)
He graduated with high honors, was class valedictorian and surprisingly beat out a few others who were close behind.
Chewing on your cheek you closed the laptop and leaned back on your bed. He wanted to be the top hero, but he's dead. Is that why he's still here? His "Unfinished business?" How could you get him to cross over and get out of your house?
It was time to talk to him.
---------------------------------------
Katsuki huffed as he peeked in on the girl sitting on her bed. She had been scrolling her computer for hours, not noticing when he had snuck up to the door.
How was he supposed to ignore her if she wasn't even paying attention to him?
In all honestly, he was past his initial rage, now solely running on his petty nature. He turned down the hall with a click of his teeth to return down the stairs into the living room. He picked up the remote, still getting small flutters of excitement when he could do mundane things again. He was so proud he mastered it quickly, but he was always good at everything wasn't he?
Choosing a show and leaving the volume low so it didn't bring the female out of her room, he rested his cheek against his palm and spaced out a bit. Ignoring the All Might interview on television he had practically memorized with how many times he's seen it.
"Well Bakugo, how have things been?"
His body jolted from the couch, his vermillion gaze landing on a familiar set he had not seen in a few years now.
"Fuck Grim, The hell you doing here? I got a few months left!"
She gave a wide smile to show of her pearly white teeth, joining him on the couch and kicking a leg over her other.
"Can't I just visit an old friend?"
His lip curled to reveal his sharp canine in response. "Fuck no, we ain't friends either!"
Just chuckling she tilted her head and pushed back the curls that framed her face today.
"So she's kinda pretty huh?"
His eyes widened along with her smile, a growl leaving his lips.
"The fuck it's to you?"
Her shoulders bobbed in a quick shrug, tilting her head the other way for a moment. "We do have a deal for you to return to your life, do we not? A living, breathing, attractive woman who can see you is in your home, and you're ignoring her like a child. I always knew you were playing hard to get and wanted to pass on."
She rolled her head to bat her eyelashes playfully at him. He clicked his tongue and crossed his arms, sinking back into the couch.
"I'm not passing on! She started this shit so she should apologize to me!"
She shook her head slightly, knowing full well from the days of babysitting him that he really would just sit on this couch and ignore the girl until his time was up. She really shouldn't be helping at this point, however the realization and some guilt on their deal had been eating at her conscious. The deal had been a bit unfair on his side to actually finish the conditions, keeping his form bound to the property of the Bakugo family home, being kept away from the few in the world who could see him.
Now that there is a person in his confinement that can see, interact with him to even the playing field she felt it was time to give him a nudge in the right direction.
"Aw come on Bakugo, you know your temper can get the best of you from time to time. Do you really want to lose out on this deal? Pass on without becoming number one? All because you can't get over a petty disagreement, with a beautiful woman in you home who can actually see you? Think about this."
He rolled his eyes, turning his head and body from her to watch the light shining from said woman's bedroom. The god dammed reaper had a point... he was rapidly losing time and a petty grudge would keep him from his goals.
"I mean otherwise if you're not interested in her, I'll gladly take her."
His neck cracked as he turned back to her with the deepest glare, just in time to see the suggestive wiggle of her eyebrows. His nose crinkled in disgust before he huffed.
"Fucking fine, I'll talk to her."
She gave his arm a friendly punch and the largest smile. "There's my stubborn asshole."
He balked, fingers flexing out of habit even with the quirk that no longer remained. "The fuck you call me?"
Hopping out of her seat she looked down at her client. Having grown some sort of connection with the angry charge, almost like that of a sibling dynamic. Especially one that annoys the shit out of each other like when she tried to get him to pass.
"Any way, since you are in the last year of your deal with only a few months to go I just wanted to pop by and check on how things were going. I'll probably be back periodically to check in." She shot him a wink of her almond colored eye and he clicked his tounge in response.
"Yeah whatever I don't need a babysitter."
She paused while cocking a brow, "Bakugo, I've been babysitting you for upwards for five years now, we're a bit past that."
He launched a pillow at her and it fell just short to her heeled feet. "Go away Grim!"
"Ah, learned to move things did we? Be careful with that, we don't want to become a vengeful spirit Bakugo, those do not get the opportunity to pass over."
He simply launched a second one in response which she easily side stepped. "Well that's my cue to be on my way. Be sure to make up with L/N."
He huffed and shot her a major side eyed glance. "How do you know all about this shit with her anyway?"
Her manicured hands pulled at the lapels of her jacket to straighten out the wrinkles from sitting, "I heard from a friend of mine she was asking about a ghost in her house. The details sounded very familiar and after doing some digging my suspicions were confirmed that you were the ghost she was talking about. I have worked with her before on cases, she's a wonderful gal."
He shook his head slightly before looking away once again, "She needs to mind her fucking business."
She let out an affectionate breath from her nose. "Just take what I said into consideration okay Bakugo? Time's ticking."
Exiting the residence before he could respond, she left his life once again.
"Fucking reaper." He snapped to the air, movement from down the hall catching his attention. Focusing his energy on his form he made sure F/N couldn't see him as her familiar form came into view.
She didn't call out for him, simply grabbing a glass of water and heated up something from the fridge for dinner, jaw cracking as she yawned. He observed her a bit while the gears turned in his head.
Should he really lose the fight and give up his grudge to interact with her again? He wasn't positive if this girl could ever fall for him, or if he could even find it in himself to give his heart away. Love was never something he had on his mind during the road to becoming a top hero.
It would've been nothing but a distraction, well to be honest he had given it a thought once or twice. A partner, large house and maybe kids one day? Though those were to come much further down the line after he obtained his goal, finding someone worth of being called the spouse to the hero. He was sure there would be a line of extras waiting to date the holder of that status alone, making the idea of dating hard to fathom during his career.
Sure, he'd had a few one night stands here and there, he was a man after all. Mostly when the time arose, he didn't actively seek out the situations just letting them happen. They were stress relievers after a particularly hard mission or day, a lot of 'Cape Chasers' who were civilians wanting nothing more than being able to say they had a night with a specific hero. There were some that played the field like a fucking bingo card, trying to get as many as they could, the top ten etc.
His roommate ate at the island in silence, placing her dishes in the washer brought him back to reality when she finally spoke.
"Hey Poltergeist? I know you're mad at me right now but I'd like to talk sometime tomorrow about a few things if you're willing? I'm sorry for brining up a tough subject, I went a bit far."
She swiveled her head back and forth a few times, as if not sure if he was even in the room or she was speaking to an empty space. However the tv was still on in the background, it was as good of chance as any he was still around. She shot an apologetic smile and made her way back up the stairs.
Well shit, she did apologize in the end.
He let out a heavy breath, she seemed genuinely sorry for upsetting him. Bringing up why he had quit being a hero even though it was his one goal in life. She watched the girl retreat to her room, leaving the door just a sliver of light.
He turned off the television and followed her path a few moments later. Choosing to phase through the door instead of open it, he found her laying under the covers with the lights off and a fan the only noise in the room. Chewing his inner cheek, he made his way to the opposite side of the room and observed her for a moment.
He finally lay down across from her and trailed his vision over her relaxed face. He couldn't lie, she is stunning. More so than any female he had the pleasure of sharing his bed while alive. He took in the curves of her face, illuminated slightly from the moonlight shining through the curtains.
He closed his eyes and made the decision he would finally speak to her in the morning as she had requested. Only hoping that he would not over sleep and wake up on the wrong side of his deal and losing out on the one chance to finally really get to know the girl sleeping beside him.

Afterlife
Part Four - First Meet... Again
Summary: After so long of trying to get your attention he finally has it. You on the other hand wish he had just stayed invisible with how much he lives to annoy you.
Taglist: @browneyedgirl22 @simplybaconic @ghostsofscarley @optimisticprime3 @lukerycyja-reblogs @eyesforbkg @derangedmango @bakucumsackslut @jazzafaye5294 @lynnsqueendom
Warnings: Cursing, talks about death and phobias. Nothing too extreme
You blinked rapidly, brain trying to comprehend the handsome face hanging over your bed while hungover.
"It's about fucking time!" He snapped at you before you slowly stood up, eyes never leaving his. He fell back onto his rear to continue staring at you, thick arms crossing over his chest.
"Who the fuck are you? Wait, better question, why are you in my bed?"
Cocking a brow you took a quick stock of the room. No signs of broken glass or open windows, your door was still closed from the evening before when Todoroki shut it behind him. So either the guy sitting on your bed was the ghost you had been feeling since move in, or he was a really crazy guy.... a hot one at that.
"You were sleeping and I was bored." His response was simple and matter of fact, his tone insinuating you were dumb for asking him such a stupid question.
"So Naturally you hang out in a bed with a sleeping woman?" Crossing your arms and mirroring his stand, his lips curled into a sneer.
"Well smart-ass if you want to get technical, this is my room. Since the bed is in my room it would be my bed." You simply blinked in response. What the hell kind of logic was that?
"Well it's not your room so not so kindly fuck off out of my bed, my room and my house! I'm not ready to get up as you heard I had a long night and haven't gotten much sleep."
He rolled his eyes, laying down to show his back to you, his arm curled up to cradle his head. "Nah, I like it here. You get out."
Your jaw dropped at his nonchalance, taking the opportunity to run over his frame, his broad... mus- No! Must focus, intruder in your house!
Rounding the bed to see his smug face, eyes closed with not a care in the world. "If you don't get out I'll be calling the police."
He cracked a single eye to see you glaring down at him, hands on your hips like a scolding mother at their child.
"Go ahead, won't do you any good."
Groaning loudly you began rubbing at your temples. You were really unsure if this guy was actually dead or crazy... Let's not lie he could be both.
"Why is that?" You took his bait, lowering your hand as his eyes opened up and nose wrinkling at the sight of you.
He simply rolled over without response to show his back again.
"No! You don't get to do that!" Gripping the pillow behind his head you yanked it out from under him, his body flailed for a moment before he sat up and gave you the most annoyed look.
"Oi! What the fu-"
His words were cut off by the pillow you slammed against his face, the rest of his cursing muffled by the cotton. Rearing the pillow back, poised to attack again to see those visibly annoyed eyes back on you.
"How the fuck did you do that?" He snapped while hoping to his feet, gulping you found the blonde towering over you. He had a good few inches on you and as wide as a linebacker. His muscles bulged as he lifted his hands in attempts to grab your weapon, showing he could easily take you down if he wanted to.
"Do what? Hit you with a pillow?" You offered to try and stall him from the latter, he lunged forward to snatch the pillow. Ducking his arm, you rushed around to the other side of the bed, holding the pillow out as some kind of shield.
"I am an ex-pro hero! You do not want to do this man!"
His eyes rolled so hard you thought they'd fall out of his head, he suddenly began marching towards you around the bed. "So am I, now tell me how the fuck you did that!"
"I swung it with these things called arms?" Shooting him a shit eating grin, his advances paused while he took in your triumphant look of smartassery. "You sarcastic piece of shit!"
He rushed forward as you rolled over the bed now, down the hall and into the kitchen. When no sounds of pursuing footsteps were heard, you dared to peek around the corner. No angry ash blonde following behind, no cursing or signs of life what soever.
"Hello?" You called down the hall to zero response.
Releasing a breath you decided it was time to take stock of the situation. Was he a ghost or not? Ghosts are primarily visible to you at all times, how the hell were you not able to see him? Had he been here the entire time you had without being seen?
Rubbing your eyes and attributing it to lack of sleep messing with your quirk. He was able to fly under the radar without being seen to your naked eye but why was he hidden now?
A frustrated noise left you while you built up the courage to return down the hall to your bedroom. Pinching your arm quick you confirmed you were truly awake, that you totally didn't dream up a super hot blonde with your hungover lonely brain right?
Sure, let's go with that.
Hugging the pillow against your chest like some security item, you double checked around the corner for any signs of the angry man. Finding your room empty you huffed an dropped the pillow back onto the bed and snatched your phone. You began searching a local occult shop for the things you would need and paid for express shipping so it would arrive later today or possibly tomorrow.
Still unconvinced that the man wasn't a deranged burglar, at least the sage would help with that residual spirit feeling you had been living with. It was a method you disliked to force the dead from a space, preferring to help them cross over by working them through whatever "Unfinished business" keeping them here.
Hopefully you won't have any more impromptu pillow fights after a night of drinking. Hopping up to make sure your windows were locked, the shrill ringing of your phone cut through your still throbbing head.
The name made you sigh just before choosing to swip the button and answer the call.
"Hello?" You barely got out before the caller began yelling in your ear.
"Girl? WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GO LAST NIGHT? I tried to set you up with Sero, but you're sinking my battle ship in C4 by taking home Todoroki instead? What the hell?"
Letting her get to the point and finish her rant, she kept making battleship references until she stopped almost out of breath.
"You done?"
"...Yeah."
You nodded and cleared your throat in order to respond.
"Firstly, Todoroki was a pure gentleman. He brought me home because I was severely intoxicated mind you. He helped me into bed, left me a glass of water and pain pills, bless him."
You took a breath while making your way back down the stairs, wide awake after your scuffle and ready for some food.
"Secondly, I don't need your 'ships' Mina. I can perfectly find someone on my own, I don't need anyone really. I'm quite content on my own."
You could almost hear the pout in her response, "Well way to blow up all my hopes and dreams L/N." Chuckling softly you pulled out some ground beef to cook up that greasy cheeseburger you had been dreaming of.
"Oi! I'm not done with you!"
You screamed, dropping the phone as you found the ash blonde standing just across the island with a glare once again.
Silence rang through the area between you besides the screaming of your name though the phone, the worried tone growing more and more anxious the longer you took to respond.
Snatching the phone from the ground without letting your gaze leave the intruder. "Sorry, saw a uh... Rat."
He scoffed and rolled his eyes just as she sighed deeply. "You scared me! I thought someone had broken in... or you saw a ghost!"
She chuckled at her little joke as you mumbled "It's one of those." that was barely audible to anyone but yourself.
"Well I'm going to go but this talk is not over okay? Under that blocked off exterior I'm sure is a lonely girl who could use some friends and I'm just that person! Even if you don't agree with my matchmaking skills."
She ended the call after confirming that we would have to go out again sometime because last night was 'So much fun'.
Though you had found the evening fun at the time, your head currently begged to differ. A certain intruder was currently not helping in that department. Pocketing your phone you shot a glare to rival the one you were receiving.
"The fuck you mean 'I'm not done with you'?"
He crossed his arms once again and leaned over the counter, his lip pulled back from his teeth to reveal his gums and a couple sharp canines.
"You can see me, therefore I want to know how the hell you hit me! I've been trying to interact and throw shit the entire time I've been around only to get hit by a fucking Pillow?"
Well, that answers that question. He was dead. A god-dammed ghost, angry one at that and apparently would love to be a poltergeist but he just doesn't have the strength... yet.
"You're dead... yes?" You wanted verbal confirmation however from the horse's mouth as it were.
"Of fucking course I am!"
A deep inhale in and out through your nose while he threw his hands in the air out of frustration. Now that I knew he was a ghost and had not broken in specifically to hurt me, a little relief washed over your being.
You decided to take a harder glance at him now that you knew he was not tangible. Already established he was noticeably a few inches taller than you, striking vermillion eyes watched your every movement that bore into your soul as they narrowed. His jaw was so sharp it could cut diamonds and a nose to match. He had to have worked very hard for every line of muscle he had because he was built like a shit brick house.
Even under that faded skull tee-shirt he wore and worn in jeans, you could see he took care of his assets.... Okay moving on.
Too bad he was dead, he was totally your type.
"Uh huh, well... " You began while picking up the dropped package of burger and turning towards the stove. "If you must know I hit you because of my quirk."
He cocked a blonde brow, interest peeking through the sarcasm. "Your quirk has to do with hitting people with pillows?"
Shooting him a glare mid cutting into the package with the dirtiest look you could muster. "You seriously gathered that from the conversation thus far?"
He shrugged those broad shoulders and leaned heavier over the counter, putting them on display.
Clearing your throat and turning back to the stove you dropped the meat into the pan with a sizzle. Without a response you turned to peek at him over your shoulder and watch a tic set into his jaw from your silence.
"My quirk is Ghost, I can interact with the dead. Hence, you."
Those bright eyes blinked for a moment, clearly mulling over something in his head.
"So you can like... touch me?"
You immediately began coughing and choking on a piece of cooked meat you had plucked from the pan to test the seasonings. "What the fuck?" You managed out while he snorted in amusement.
"Not like that you fucking pervert. I meant like, you could interact with me like I was alive again. I haven't felt anything or anyone in five years."
He began rounding the island and you shoved hands out to keep him at arms length.
"AH! No... bad!"
His brows set down into anger with a scowl. "I'm not a fucking dog, woman!"
Rolling your eyes you lowered hands, "I don't like being touched."
He snorted now, his lips twitched slightly in amusement.
"Now whose the pervert?"
His expression fell as yours raised into a smug grin.
"Ah Shut up!" He growled and advanced once more.
"Please don't! I don't want to live your death!"
He froze in his step as soon as the panicked words left your lips. "Huh?" He tilted his head like a dog.
Your frowned, crossing arms over your midsection into a hug while taking a step back from him.
"My quirk doesn't distinguish the living from the dead. The only way I can confirm without words is to touch someone... but." Your eyes fell away from him and out the window above the ktichen sink.
"If I touch the living nothing happens, the dead though... either one of two things happens. Either I get a strong buzzing against my hand, that's the spiritual energy emanating from their cold skin. Or, most times out of any, I get what you would consider a very vivid dream of how that person... left our plane of existence... from their point of view."
Your jaw set as you ground teeth, his thoughts going a mile a minute.
"So if you touch a dead person, you experience how they died? Like every fuckin' second?"
Nodding you turned and flipped off the burner before your meal burned any further. Your eyes turned back to his "Every fucking second, down to the pain if there was any. Every excruciating detail and I've lived some fucked up deaths."
He chewed his cheek while shifting on his feet, turning and returning to his spot on the opposite side of the island.
"Guessing that's why you don't like to be touched?" He cleared his throat upon leaning back against the counter.
You shrugged, "When I was younger my parents decided I should see a therapist. I started refusing to hug my relatives after I turned eight. I had already lived several deaths by then and they started to notice I was avoiding all skin contact... or any really. Less out going and I was a pretty outgoing child until then. Doctor told them it was Haphephobia, or the fear of touch."
He held onto every word, eyes watching as you put together your burger with all the fixings just the way you liked it. Your head shot up after a moment and turned towards him "Wait a minute, why the hell am I spilling my life story to you? Get out of my house!"
His admiration over your beautiful face broke, a frown seeping into his lips once more.
"This is my house! I grew up here!"
You crossed your arms and pointed at the door, "I rented this bitch from that super nice lady and I didn't sign up for ghosts. Even if I was stuck with this quirk I refuse to live with one!"
His frown turned into a sinister grin, "Oh really?"
Nodding firmly you picked up your burger and took a deliberate bite while watching him, wanting to internally groan at the grease healing your hang over soul. He watched before nodding at nothing at all, apparently some internal decision and throwing himself down on the couch.
It had always blown his mind that even though he couldn't interact with every day objects, he could sit down on a couch, chair or even lay on beds. Picking up something as simple as a television remote? Not possible.
"I don't want to live with an alive extra like you, so seems we're at a stalemate. You have the option to leave unlike me, so either deal with it, or get out."
He let his head fall back against the couch rest to peer at you, lips in a full pout at his words gained a growing excitement in his chest from your fustration.
Grim had annoyed the living shit out of him for his first three years as the only person who could see him. It was his turn to annoy the self entitled extra living in his home. He was going to take it as his personal life mission to make your life here a living hell.
Only a few months remained on his deal anyway so he'd be dammed if he was going to just sleep it away. Until then he was going to enjoy every last second at your expense.
-----------
From that day on it became a game of who could annoy the other the most. He would pop out of any and everything he could, from behind corners, cabinets and doors. His glee would rise from her startles, screams and swats at him for making her heart jump. Though she would have her revenge on him, sneaking up on him and catching him off guard, smiling brightly when he would yelp or his body would jerk from surprise.
After she had gotten some proper sleep, he was almost always visible to her unless he chose to mask his presence. He had focused on this for a few days but had finally figured out how to channel his energy into hiding himself for short bits of time. He was sure if he continued to practice, he could do it for longer soon.
Usually during that time of hiding he would simply observe her little habits and other things she'd do when thinking no one was looking.
To her annoyance, she had asked his name several time and he had simply ignored her, declined to answer or gave her silly names that were clearly fake.
At current he was perched on the couch, watching her wave some bundle of sticks around. The smoke rose from the bundle as she moved around the house, random glares being shot his way that he returned with a smirk. Especially when she began waving in directly in his face to no avail.
"You know my quirk had a lot of smoke involved, I'm not sure what you're thinking that's going to accomplish."
His teasing tone made her groan in frustration, "Sage is supposed to dispel spirits not make them smile, why the fuck are you still lounging on my couch?"
He shrugged which was her response, reaching down to try and change the channel for the hundredth time since he was tired of whatever the hell she had put on a bit ago.
"I told you I'm stuck here. I can't leave because my spooky bitch handler said so."
She paused, bundle of sticks almost gone as she eyed him, "You mean your reaper?"
His lips turned down as he huffed, "The fuck you know about reapers?" Maybe he could get some dirt against his to win this bet without fulfilling the requirements.
She shrugged, choosing to walk away into the kitchen and stick the bundle under running water to put it out, clearly a lost cause.
"Oi! Don't ignore me again!"
She turned towards him to lean over the kitchen island with a passive look, chin resting in the palm of her hand.
"What's your name?"
He scowled not wanting to play into her game. She refused to answer his questions all because he evaded hers. It was a game of who was the bigger child around here and you were both deadlocked so far.
"You don't need my fucking name, told you that."
She exhaled while running a fingertip over the countertop. "Well, you don't need to know about me or what I know. Other than I think you're annoying as shit and wish you would just leave."
He snorted and attempted to grab the remote once more in frustration. To his surprise the object moved ust the slightest. It wasn't much, but it had moved. He sat up quicker than shit and looked back to see if his annoyed roommate had seen that.
She had.
"Did you just move that?" She breathed, he nodded in response and began attempting to move it once more. He grunted in annoyance a few times as his hand slipped through as always.
His palms slammed down on the table with a yell, the remote clattering to the floor from the vibrations.
"Oh your power is fueled by anger, what a shock." He jumped at the proximity of her voice, she had crossed to the rear of the couch, leaning over it to watch curiously.
"I've only seen a few spirits that can actually interact with objects without my help. They were usually very old though, damn poltergeists."
She grumbled the final part as if it held some bad experiences from the past. He grunted and leaned over to try and pick up the fallen object.
"If that's the case, I should be able to move shit constantly."
She snorted at first before it turned into soft laughter.
He paused, one of the things he had yet to do so far besides make her annoyed beyond comparison was make her laugh. It was like twinkling bells ringing, bird singing in the morning sun, children laughing while running through a play ground. In other words, he wanted to hear more of it, all the time.
"Shut up, your laugh is ugly." Why the fuck did he just say that?
Internally face palming when she stopped abruptly, face showing clear embarassment and annoyance.
"Don't have to make me more self conscious asshole!"
He felt the need to apologize to his bewilderment. Only saying the words to very few people in his life, he found himself wanting to say them all to see that smile of hers again. As much as he found joy in her frustrated face, her smile was worlds apart.
"Yeah well, get over it."
Nailed it.
His fingers attempted to curl around the remote and he focused just as he had with trying to shield himself from her. His energy being channeled into his hand, his fingertips brushed the device and for the first time in five years, he could feel the rough surface of the plastic.
Though it was faint and as if he was barely touching it, he lifted the object in his hand and shot her a look of triumph.
"Great, now you can pick shit up and throw it at me along with scaring me daily."
His face dropped to a scowl, fingers running over the rubber of the buttons, the small scratch from the time she had dropped it against the corner of a table.
He could feel it!
He raised the object and lowered his thumb to test the button, channel changing to his delight.
"And you can fuck with my TV. Good, Great, wonderful."
She walked away while speaking, mumbling something how this was bullshit as he reveled in the fact he could touch something again. He flipped channels until he found something he chose. Not what happened to be on tv when his parents watched it, not something she had picked. Him.
He felt like he was five again watching Saturday morning cartoons for the first time while eating a bowl of cereal. All Might knows he missed food, especially Mapo Tofu, or anything of the spicy variety really. What he wouldn't give to feel the burn on his tounge.
"Well Mister poltergeist, can we at least agree on a show since you can control the remote now?"
She had returned with a bowl of fresh popcorn, crunches from her teeth while lounging beside him earned a scowl as he had just been thinking about wishing to eat.
"No, I haven't gotten to watch my shit in years. Go watch something on your phone."
She tossed a kernel that actually hit his cheek. "Listen bitch, this is till my house, Put on my show."
He shot her a warning look from the corner of his eyes. "I said no."
Another kernel hitting his cheek with a "Yes."
"No!"
Another, "Yes!"
"Fucking quit Spooky!"
She paused mid attempt to toss another kernel as she grinned in amusement. "I thought your reaper was Spooky?"
He rolled his eyes and changed the channel again, no longer interested in the previous program.
"No, she's Grim, you're Spooky."
She tossed a kernel into the air and caught it with her mouth, chewing thoughtfully for a moment.
"So Grim is a she huh?"
His eyes turned back to her, wondering where she was taking this.
"Clearly on the fact I said She."
"Did you just assume her gender?"
He balked as she grinned widely at his face. "I'm fucking with you."
Silence ensued while he scowled.
"Is she hot?"
HIs eyes widened as he shot her the shocked face, "What the fuck?"
"What? You're dead, she's a reaper... You could get so-"
"YOU CAN SHUT THE FUCK UP NOW!" His face heated up as she began laughing hysterically at his embarrassment. He grumbled as she took a few moments to calm down.
"You cheating on me with her?"
The pillow hit her with an "oof" from her lips, the bowl of popcorn falling to the carpet and littering the floor with stray kernels.
"Yeah, you're an official Poltergeist now, My fucking personal one." She grumbled while moving the object from her face that quickly changed into dismay.
"No! You spilled my popcorn you ass!"
He rolled his eyes as she got down and began mourning her snack, picking up the pieces back into the bowl.
"Just make more." He earned himself a scowl as she flipped him the bird.
"You help with the grocery bill, you can talk about wasting food. My contracts pay decent but I don't always have a steady stream."
He picked up a stray kernel that had landed on his lap from her many throwing attempts, contemplating wither or not he wanted to attempt eating it. Hunger was not something he really felt, so he really had not taken the chance to see if he could eat anymore. Deciding to place the item into the bowl instead, if he could eat it sure as shit wouldn't be popcorn as his first real food in ages. He raised his gaze to her and asked the question that had been burning his mind for awhile now.
"What is it you actually do? Awhile back you said you were an Ex-Pro hero, why the fuck would you quit being a hero?"
She huffed and finished picking up the last stray piece from the carpet. "I contract with the police to help out with odd jobs. Really odd jobs I must say, involves my quirk a lot. I don't typically use it as much as I did when I was a pro. Really though, It's not any of your business."
He clicked his tongue, turning down the volume of the show slightly. He had lost interest a long time ago anyway.
"Why would you quit being a Hero though? It's the greatest job in the world!"
She set the bowl on to the table and stood with her fists on her hips.
"Oh? If that's so why did you quit?"
Her question caught him off guard, totally forgetting he had let that slip he had been a hero in the past too. Anger filled him as his eyes narrowed into a deep glare.
"I fucking didn't. I fucking died."
With that he chose to stomp from the room, halfway up the stairs he disappeared from her view and left her standing in the living room dumfounded.
---------------------
Well they've finally interacted and she put her foot in her mouth. Stay tuned for the next part when she finally does a deep dive to find out who her poltergeist actually is. P.s I hope the POV changes are not confusing? If they are please let me know. <3

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Katsuki Bakugo tried everything over the next few days to get his new roommate to see him. He tried throwing things, jumping out from behind doors, walls and closets. Screaming until he thought his lungs would burst, doing anything really to make her glance, flinch or something at all that indicated she truly saw him.
He took note of her habits during this time, what she liked to eat in the morning, dressing styles, nightly routine and right now her biggest habit he observed? Not sleeping.
She spent all hours of the night on her phone, reading, scrolling social medias or watching some new show. He had taken to watching said show with her on the couch, even if she had no idea there was company.
Bored out of his noggin' he nosed into the other rooms, finding a bed in his parent's old space. Inside the closets were men's clothing and other belongings that indicate there should be more than just the girl living here. Even so, she was the only person he saw come or go... when she did go out. She spoke on the phone with others only briefly and on the few adventures out of the house were brief. She seemed to have an aversion to human interaction simliar to him.
He curled into the side of the couch, back hanging over the arm rest as he groaned in frustration. Currently she was on the phone with a man named "Toshi," asking him how his mission was going.
Katsuki leaned up while placing his chin into his palm to contemplate what else he could try catching her attention with. She had been here a full week (that he had been awake for) and nothing seemed to work, he was past frustrated, sliding into livid.
"You really need to get some sleep." The male's deep voice cut through his thoughts from the phone sitting on the table. She had placed the device on speaker so she could be free to eat her dinner as she spoke. "Yeah I know." Her voice grumbled in response.
The bags under her eyes did not do her justice, she looked like absolute shit who needed a nap immediately. At most during the week he could only count a few hours if not minutes where she had nodded off.
"I can tell you're in one of your funks. Not sleeping, binging your latest show and texting me non stop." She placed her empty plate beside her and leaned into a pillow with a deep noise of annoyance.
"How do you always know this shit when you're not even here? It's like you never left!"
He snorted while continuing, "We've been friends and roommates long enough for me to know your habits F/N."
Katsuki's ears perked up at the use of your name. He had not been able to figure out what you were called as of yet, no real mail had come to the house for him to snoop into. It had a nice ring to it though.
"So in conclusion, get some damn sleep. Denki and I will be back home in a couple weeks, our mission is going really smoothly. If we're lucky we'll be home in the next couple weeks at most with the culprit behind bars."
She hummed in affirmation and gave a false promise to get some rest. "Be safe and tell Denks too okay?"
Denki? Denki Kaminari? Katsuki's head tilted in interest now at his old classmate's name, if he also put two and two together to make sense. Toshi, would be Hitoshi Shinso, purple haired, sleep deprived Aizawa clone from UA.
After the call concluded you placed the phone away from you and did not heed his words in the least. Resuming your show and forgoing bedtime that evening as well.
The next morning Katsuki hatched a plan. He was going to practice interacting with things so he could build up his strength and hopefully show her he was there.
In a stare down with the soulless, dark eyes of a stuffed dog toy, he chewed his lip. "You're going against the wall wither or not you like it creature!"
He reached forward, hand slipping right through the damn animal's smiling face. With a grunt he tried once again to yield the same result. "Fucking, come on!" He growled, continuing to waive his hand through the dog.
"It's a fucking toy!" He roared in frustration, his palm shooting forward out of habit to use his quirk that had always been there.
The toy slammed against the wall and his eyes widened with surprise as a gasp escaped his chest. "I did it." He mumbled triumphantly.
He looked around for you only to find you picking the toy up and giving it an apology. "Sorry buddy, didn't mean to hit you with that closet door."
Dammit, he'd have to try harder.
--------------------------------
Your phone rang in the wee hours of the morning, making you shoot up at the shrill noise. Having finally nodded off for the first time in a couple days and someone had to go and ruin that. Fucking people.
Should've taken Toshi's advice and gotten a good night's rest a few days ago. However as predicted that little girl seemed to haunt her dreams every time your eyes closed.
On top of that a chill had almost constantly been running up your spine, indicating the proximity of a spirit. Though not one glance, from the corner of your eye or any noises out of place since you had seen the man near the fridge.
Finally answering the phone that was most likely on it's last ring, you cleared your throat. "Inspector what can I do for you at... five thirty am?"
Rubbing your sleepy eye you heard a small chuckle on the other line. "My apologies did I wake you Phantom?"
You rolled your eyes while leaning into the pillow that had been your cradle just a few moments ago. When he didn't get a response he continued, "I have a case opportunity for you, should you be interested."
A yawn was his initial response, "Clearly if you're calling me, I would assume you're not calling me for a date."
He could be hear coughing and choking on most likely a sip of coffee or bite of breakfast while you waited. "I was drinking coffee, that wasn't fair."
Bingo.
You shook your head with an affectionate smile on your lips, knowing damn well the inspector was happily married to another office he had met a few years prior.
"Well what's this case?"
He sighed while the sound of shuffling on the other side indicated he was cleaning up a mess or looking through files before he continued. "A man who was recently put in jail for a string of murders is declining to lead us to where he buried his victims. We we're in the hopes you could help us locate them by contact or persuasion."
Another yawn wracked your chest as you contemplated responding. "Anything else you got for me? Preferably not as gruesome? I am gonna be honest here Inspector I haven't gotten much sleep since we saw each other last over the previous case we just finished. I don't think I could deal with something like that right now or channel anyone properly. After some good sleep? Yeah, maybe. Right now? No."
He shuffled some more papers before offering another solution. "I do have a request from a hero agency that asked for you personally. It's a team up with Cellophane and Pinky. They need your help finding a lost cat."
You scratched your nose for a minute while pondering if you heard him right. "A cat. Find a lost cat?"
He affirmed as you scoffed, "How is that a job for me?" He chuckled in response and continued with clear amusement in his voice.
"The request is mostly to help confirm if the cat is among the living or not. Call came in from the owner's son who insists the cat has passed on, but his father is denying and stating the cat has ran away which has happened from time to time apparently. Son claims the cat got sick and was buried a few days ago."
You hummed while cocking a brow, "What are the heroes for then? Surly I could do this by myself?"
"They asked specifically for them I guess, something about helping find it the last time they ran away. Refused anyone else to come out when their agency agreed. They've been having some free time and were more than happy to join up with you."
Pinching the bridge of your nose and contemplating all your life's decisions at this point that led to finding a ghost cat. "All I have to do is fine the cat... right?"
He affirmed and you agreed reluctantly to meet up with the Heroes in a bit. Hanging up the phone after getting the details you fell back into the bed with a groan of frustration. You were too tired to be chasing a cat but rent and utilities do not pay themselves. This case should be a cakewalk.
This was not a cakewalk, it was Bullshit.
Meeting up with Cellophane and Pinky who had greeted you with major enthusiasm. It was not the first time you had worked with them and they were honestly one of your favorite heroes to chat with on the job. They had both gladly shown you their new prototype glasses that had come from Hatsume inc, supposedly geared to pick up signatures from those who had passed on.
In theory, they could see the cat just like you could. You was mostly here for confirmation and also because unlike everyone there, you could actually see the cat and interact with it. Though according to Cellophane, Mei was currently in works on gloves to go with the glasses, but those were still in beta testing phases and not for hero use quite yet.
The son had thanked us for coming out and explained his father's insistence the cat was alive and well, just missing somewhere out in the world. He gave a brief description as a tiger stripped tabby with slight orange markings on her cheeks. Pictures he had showed a rather hearty feline glaring at the camera. Her name was Snickers due to her multi-coloring and that's when he dropped the bomb on us.
The cat had a quirk.
The cat, had a fucking. Quirk.
One that would allow it to teleport short distances, which was serving to piss off my fellow heroes and myself rather quickly. "She enjoyed a good game of tag when she was alive." The son had said.
You had spotted the lazy cat lounging in a tree during the discussions and took it as an opportunity to prove that the glasses worked. Pointing in a general direction you told the heroes to tell you where the cat was, both of them spoke immediately "in the tree."
Well way to go Hatsume, the glasses work!
Now as you all attempted to catch the wascally wabbit, you had narrowly grabbed the cat several times. She would pop a few inches just outside your reach and run away at the last possible second. The chase had been going on for several hours at this point, nearing dinner time promptly as you continued your search.
"Target was spotted in the back yard by the large elm tree."
The pink skinned female's voice cut into your ear piece.
"Hey guys, do you remember that ninja anime from when we were kids? This reminds me of that mission they took with the missing ca-"
"Cellophone, I have had this cat jump out of my hands for the last few hours. Have your ninja fantasy another time."
Pinky's laughter was so loud it rang throughout the entire property and through the ear piece. Once she calmed down a bit she spoke with a wobbly voice threatening to turn back into giggles. "I'm telling Kirishima that Phantom scolded you when we all go out tonight!"
He groaned and grumbled something on the other side when you found the cat once again in your sights.
Giving a reassuring smile to the animal and giving a soft "Pspspsp" with your lips in the attempts to coax the female closer. "Snickers... come here baby girl." Your soft coos fell on deaf ears as Cellophane hung upside down from a tree branch like some off brand Spiderman.
"Go slow." He offered with a wide smile, gritting your own teeth in avoid snapping at the hero once again. Like you didn't know the cat would bolt again if spooked?
The cat's large green eyes lazed over to the both of you, watching her pupil's dilating quickly in excitement before bolting just as your fingers grazed fur.
"MOTHER FU-"
Your snarls of frustration were cut short as tape shot past your face with such speed, quickly gaining on the retreating feline. In a last ditch effort you reached out and your fingers grazed the tape, weaving some spiritual energy into the material just as it finally reached the cat in time.
The Tape wound around the cat and brought it to the ground as you shouted in victory. You hadn't really been sure if that would even work but you were damn glad it did! Ripping the tape from it's source you wrapped it up to slowly approach the struggling fluff.
"Whoa little one, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you... let me get this off of you."
Unwrapping the tape slowly once the cat was secured in your arms. Cellophane jogged over with a ear to ear grin on his face. "Damn! I didn't know if that would even work! I used one of my less sticky tapes so it didn't hurt her but wow!"
You shot him a grin while running a hand over the soft ears. "I didn't either to be honest, I threw some of my quirk energy into it and it somehow turned it into ghost capture tape."
A large palm came down on top of your head affectionately, you flinched back as his expression dropped. "Shit, I'm sorry I forgot..." He stammered an apology as you waived your free hand.
"Don't worry, no harm done." He gave a apologetic smile before his dark eyes fell on the cat. "Wow, I can see it clearly now. The goggles just give me a shape without definition. I knew it was a cat, but that was about it."
He ran a large hand through the cat's soft ears as a low purring rumbled against your arms that cradled her. "Your quirk is pretty damn cool!"
You felt heat rising into your cheeks as those eyes met yours, Pinky's voice cutting through when she finally joined us. "Thanks for letting me know you got her!"
Shooting her a sheepish look, the three of you returned to the front yard where the owner sat in a lawn chair in wait. He jumped from his seat upon seeing the familiar sight in your arms.
"Snickers! Wow you really did find her!" He grinned before popping inside quick enough to bring out his father whose eyes lit up like a firework display.
"See! I told you she was alright! She was just playing hide and seek again!" His affectionately snapped as his son who rolled his eyes without a word. The father stepped forward and attempted to take the cat from your arms with some thanks. You however stepped back just before his hands could touch you or her.
"Sir, there are some things we need to discuss regarding this cat."
He frowned deeply before his face turned into anger. "Listen, I appreciate what you did but I'd like my cat back now. She's been missing for days and I'm not paying you any extra for how long it took to catch her."
Cocking a brow at his audacity, Cellophane stepped forward and placed his hand on the father's shoulder to indicate his words were not acceptable.
"Sir, my colleague has some things you need to hear. They may be difficult but please listen, she's a smart cookie."
He winked at you and you cleared your throat to avoid the heat in your cheeks once again. You quickly explained how your quirk works, that if you were to let the cat go, no one would be able to see or hear it but yourself. Not only were you not going to chase it again, but it was no longer able to go home.
The man's face twisted into confusion and his arguments lasted for several minutes before you had enough.
"I am going to tell you this one last time as kindly as I can sir... " You leaned forward so he could get a good look at your expression, "The cat has passed on. It got sick and passed on according to your son, My quirk is the only thing keeping it on this plane of existence right now. I cannot simply give you the cat because it is Dead. If I let go she will run away and I will not catch it again. So if you are willing I can help her pass on to a peaceful place, otherwise I'm going to drop it and you will not get your chance for goodbyes. Now what would you like to do?"
He stood stunned at your bluntness, eyes dropping to his beloved animal snoozing in your arms. "I do apologize for being brash but apparently our kind words were not enough."
He nodded slowly before reaching out to brush his fingers along the soft fur. "I am sorry too... I raised her from birth you know? I didn't want to believe she was really gone."
He exhaled a long breath before nodding, you placed the cat into his arms while keeping a finger touching her at all times so she did not slip through is arms. After the son and father gave her some proper love and goodbyes, a woman in formal wear stepped up beside you. She gave you a quick nod and you returned the slightest in kind to indicate you had seen her.
"Sir, the cat is ready to go now."
He chewed his lip before giving her one final goodbye, the animal happily leaped from their arms into that of the waiting reaper's. They ran their hand over her soft fur while she let out a few meows in response.
"Let them know she thanks them for her years here with them and all the love they shared. She is ready to go home."
Nodding slightly the woman turned and faded from sight. It was one thing they could do you couldn't, speak to animals. Languages were still a barrier regardless of death or not, if you didn't speak it there was no understanding. Some reapers focused on animal deaths and could communicate properly in order to do their work.
You relayed the reaper's message without mentioning the smartly dressed woman, tears pricked the eyes of both men as they gave their thanks.
Ready to avoid more tears you returned to the police station with the heroes to report the mission a success. The inspector once again indicated a trip to my favorite woman's desk was in order as I exited his office.
"Hey Phantom! Do you want to come out with us tonight?" The pink hero stepped forward before you could pass, attempting to latch onto your arm. Her dark haired friend stopped her before she could with a stern glance.
"Mina we talked about this, personal boundaries."
She gave you a shameful look while chuckling. "Sorry something I never grew out of."
You gave her a small grin while removing your costume's mask.
"It's alright, at least you acknowledge it. Some people do it anyway just to push my buttons and it gets really uncomfortable."
She smiled and quickly elbowed her taller friend in the side. Not so whispering to him "Get her to come with!"
He shot her a warning glance before turning his attention on you. "Phantom.."
You told him to call you by your name since it was now past hero hours. Phantom clocked out the second you got paid.
The tips of his ears turned a dusted pink as he shuffled his feet, placing his helmet under his well toned arm. "Then, Hanta Sero at your service. I don't think I gave you my name in our past dealings."
Mina squealed softly as she watched her friend smile brightly at the pretty girl. Her ship may sail yet!
"Sure Sero, though I don't know about going out tonight. I'm running on low sleep here." You gave a nervous chuckle when the pink hero's face dropped. No! Her ship cannot sink!
"Oh come on! You have to join us! Any time we work with our friends they ask about you! They'd love to see you outside of work!" Her large dark surrounded eyes turned pleading as Hanta adjusted his helmet.
"Kirishima did ask about you recently when I said we were teaming up today." The taller of the two scratched at his cheek gently.
"Kirishima, as in Red Riot?" You tilted your head, only remembering one insistence of working with the hero.
Mina nodded her head enthusiastically "Yeah! He asked how you were doing since Kaminari had mentioned he was moving in with you and Shinso! He's on a mission currently so you'd fit right into his slot!" She pouted while clasping her fingers together in a prayer you'd concede.
With a heavy sigh you looked over both of their pleading faces.
"Only one or two drinks and then I'm going home." You mumbled to their delight.
--------------------------------------
It ended up being not the one or two drinks you had originally promised.
After returning home quick to change and freshen up, you met the duo at the address Ashido had texted you upon finally securing your number. Inside the small bar you found the two sitting with a burly red head, who took up the entire chair and then some with his large body.
The bubblegum haired female waived furiously until you weaved through the tables to join them. "Hey L/N! How are you?" The golden retriever energy radiated off of the large hero even at a distance while shooting you the biggest sharp tooth smile.
Exchanging greetings you noticed some fresh faces along with the ones you had already seen today.
"Ah let me introduce you, I'm sorry if you've already met it's not manly to be a bad host!" He waived his hand towards the others, "This is Shoto Todoroki, or Shoto as he likes to be called on the field. Beside him is the number two hero Deku, Izuku Midoriya."
You waived at them both, only having met the dual haired male one other time. He however had apparently not remembered meeting you, when he stuck out his hand for a shake. "Pleasure to meet you."
You cleared your throat before giving him a soft smile. "Likewise Todoroki, though I'm going to decline your greeting."
He raised a confused brow on his stoic face as Izuku leaned over to whisper quickly in his ear. Todoroki's fingers curled in on his hand as he returned it to his lap with a quick apology. Taking the seat next to Kirishima you were slid a drink.
With all your seniors around you, they quickly got into loud conversations that turned to laughter. You actually found yourself laughing along with much needed stress relief. They quickly convinced you that one drink was not enough, it soon became two... then three.. then enough that you lost count.
Though it was enough to get you on stage for a bad rendition of "Barbie Girl" With Mina, the boys cheering you both on with vigor, drinks spilling as they swayed along.
You both then cheered on the guys as Midoriya and Kirishima chose to arm wrestle, Todoroki facilitating it since he declined to go against the winner. Especially when the two of them smashed the table to bits under their combined strength, leading to them bowing before the owner and offering to pay for the damages. This was the most passive aggressive argument you had ever witnessed.
"Just let me pay for it Midoriya, I suggested the arm wrestling."
"No, no I can pay for it. I accidentally used a little of my quirk so it's really my fault Kirishima."
"Just both of you split it already!" Mina howled in annoyance before downing the last of her drink and calling for another in the same breath.
Due to your lack of drinking experience you swayed while waiting on the group to deliberate on how to get you home. You had drove but there was absolutely zero way you were going to be allowed behind the wheel.
The one with the most sober mind had turned out to be Todoroki who was not much of a drinker himself, offered to drive you home and he would call a car from his agency to get him home afterwards. Midoriya had been offering to take you home like the nice guy he was, but a fiancé to get home to. That and he was almost just as intoxicated as you, he would most likely end up being held up by you instead of him taking care of you.
Todoroki helped you into the car's passenger seat and made sure you were buckled in nice and snug. Humming all the while the song you sang with Mina while he tried to get your address from you. After several minutes he finally got the slurred answer from you and he made his way slowly towards your house.
You stumbled up the sidewalk, the hero's hands hovering without touching to respect your boundaries but also hover incase you took a tumble. He helped you into the house and into bed, made sure you were tucked in all snug as a bug before exiting the room. He returned once with a full glass of water and some headache medicine most likely from the bathroom in the hall.
You rambled to him how thankful you were and that he was a great guy.
"Think nothing of it. I am a hero and I am helping someone in need."
After all was said in done he saw himself out and made sure the door was locked before leaving in the car he had called on the way to your house.
You awoke with a snort, wiping away the drool that had accumulated during the best sleep you had gotten in awhile. Though you had toss and turned through the night from the alcohol, it had been a blissful few hours of blank dreams.
The sunlight cut into your eyes as you groaned and turned over to find the full glass of water and pills on the night stand. You thanked whoever was listening for good men in this world like the dual haired man who helped you home.
What a guy.
Popping the painkillers and downing the water like a flower starved, you set the glass down with a satisfied noise. Now that your mouth didn't feel like a bucket full of sand, you laid back down with your arm flopped over your eyes.
You let out a low groan at the rumbling stirring up trouble in your stomach. Which was also simultaneously begging for the greasiest cheeseburger you could find.
"Fuck me I only said one drink!"
"Should've came home then dipshit instead of stumbling in here with fucking Icy Hot at two am."
Tossing your arm off of your face quickly and found yourself face to face with the angry vermillion eyes once again. A scream ripped from your throat as you threw yourself backwards and onto the bedroom floor.
"Oop good job dumbass... Wait." A head with messy ash blonde locks leaned over the side of the bed. "You fucking saw me!"

Previous Part: Part one
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your new home was not too far from the police station, leaving the quiet neighborhood to return into the busy city made a sigh leave your lips. The usual spot you parked in was wide open so you swung the vehicle in quickly before someone snagged it. Taking a moment to check that your mask sat in place before making your way inside the building.
"Phantom!"
A few officers greeted you by your hero name as you gave a curt waive to those you recognized. Avoiding acknowledging anyone you were not familiar with as the station seemed to be a busy location for those who choose to linger. Talking to someone who was not there is easily the quickest way to earn yourself a one way ticket to s straight jacket.
The door you stood before now was a solid wood, years of use taking a toll in the form of scrapes and peeling coating along the grain. The equally worn nameplate read "Inspector Tsukauchi" you took a moment to knock just below, your toe scuffing against the innocent carpet as you waited. Inside the sound of movement could be heard, the door swinging open to reveal the weary eyes of the older gentleman you had worked with many a time.
"Phantom, welcome. Come on in."
He stood aside to let you pass, taking your normal chair in front of his desk as he closed the door with a small click. He took his place across from you and took a quick, hearty breath.
"I'm going to get straight to the point here, a young girl was hit by a car last night. There are no witnesses... well any that are willing to talk anyway. We're trying to find the culprit but those who were in the area are refusing to come forward. I was hoping with your skills we could contact her."
Your nails dug into the material covering your thigh, "This case is for a slain kid?"
He nodded solemnly before shuffling some papers to pull a square from the files. He slid a clear photo across for your viewing, yielding a small girl with wildly dark locks that framed her round face. Bright pink eyes and a large gap toothed smile peeked out at you.
Rubbing your temples you sighed, cases involving children were always the hardest to swallow. They were the ones that kept you up at night, at this rate knowing you probably wont be sleeping for a few days most likely.
"Where was she hit?" He began his briefing, throwing some facts at you with rapid fire as you took down notes in a small notebook you always kept in your costume for this reason. The area she had been struck was one known for a string of hit and runs in a lower end of town. Some facts in the paperwork he showed you stuck out as you cleared your throat.
"You think this is a serial case? They hit her on purpose?"
He nodded with that serious look in his eyes, "Unfortunately so, they've been targeting kids. This makes the third one this week alone."
Running a hand over your face with a groan, "Have the heroes gotten anyone to talk?"
He stood now, waiving a hand at the bulletin board to the right of his desk. "I sent over a few agency requests and no one has been successful in getting a single person to cooperate. This area is still a bit of the faction that distrusts the law."
Inhaling deeply you stood from your chair and held out your hand for the file. "I'll take it."
He gave an appreciative smile and placed the file in your outstretched hand. "This is the victim's information, her parents and family are listed here along with her last known address. Please contact me immediately with any leads."
Taking the file you gave him a quick bow of your head before slipping out of the office.
"Hey! Phantom!" Turning to the familiar voice you found the current number two jogging over.
"Ah, Deku hello." You waived with the hand still gripping the file.
"Taking on a new case?" His thousand watt smile spread across his face while you placed the paperwork into the bag hanging at your hip.
"Yeah, hit and run involving a kid. I'm supposed to contact her."
His smile faulted as he crossed his arms, "I tried talking to the citizens in that neighborhood yesterday, no one would speak with me. Most likely due to my hero ranking, they're a bit distrustful of anyone of authority there."
You took out your notepad to list down his experience there, giving the run down of who he spoke to, or tried to.
"Oh! Did you find a new place with Shinso?"
Cocking a brow you looked up from your notepad. Working with Deku had been only a few times so the fact that he knew you and Hitoshi were friends surprised you. He chuckled lightly when you said nothing, rubbing the back of your neck.
"I saw him a few weeks ago, he said you were moving."
It hit you that Hitoshi and Deku had been in the same year at UA, of course they would know each other. Hitoshi had always spoke highly of the man especially on how he had helped him in his resolve to become a hero back in his first year.
"Yeah we moved into a new neighborhood, It's quite peaceful."
We chatted just a bit longer as you told him the area you moved into but redacted the address when he perked up his normal attitude even more... somehow.
"That's by my mom's place! I grew up in that area, I'll have to swing by sometime!"
Giving him a quick wave goodbye, you made your way to the scene of the crime. The area surrounding you consisted of run down buildings with boarded windows, old apartment complexes that you would avoid stepping foot in unless you absolutely had to.
Walking down the block it didn't take you very long to locate a small child with red rimmed pink eyes from the tears spilling down her apple shaped cheeks.
Taking a quick glance around, not a single person stopped to check on her as they moved along with their day. This definitely had to be the girl.
"Hey Sweetie." You called softly, her head snapping towards you rather quickly.
"You... Can see me?" She choked out as you moved to sit beside her on the curb. Peeking around to make sure no one was paying you any mind before responding.
"Yes I can, what's your name?" Her eyes scanned you warily for a moment, sniffling and wiping her nose with a sleeve. "Nami."
You pushed back the hood of your costume so she could see your face more clearly, your E/C eyes shining through the mask to put her at ease.
"How old are you Nami?"
"Five." You chewed your lip, She was just old enough to get her quirk for the first time.
"Why are you crying sweetpea?"
She pointed a stubby finger towards the road, "A car hit me, and the guy just got out and laughed at me. It hurt so bad! He drove away when someone screamed really loud... I think it was my mommy. No one will talk to me anymore! I just want my mom!"
Fresh tears began spilling from her bright eyes once again as you took another quirk glance around. The sidewalks had seemingly cleared out of people so you were currently alone with the small apparition.
"Have you seen your mommy since?"
She bobbed her head, "She ignored me."
You slid a hand into your pocket and pulled out a wrapped sucker.
"Would you like one?" You offered the small candy to her, face lighting up when her little eyes spied the treat.
"My mommy said not to take candy from strangers though."
You chuckled with a nod, "She's a smart lady, I'm Phantom. Part time hero here to help you."
Her small hand raised to snatch the candy with a wide smile. Slipping right though however she let out a small whimper.
Crap, you would have to touch her.
You pulled off your glove by catching the fabric between your teeth, letting it drop you inhaled deeply before reaching out and grabbing her tiny hand. When no vision of death wracked you, the breath released in extreme relief.
"Try again." You coaxed her and she raised her hand again to snatch the candy successfully from your fingers. A squeal of delight left her as she ripped at the wrapper with her other hand, your hand barely touching her shoulder to ground.
"N-Nami?" A voice croaked out, your eyes finding an older version of the little girl happily eating the sucker standing a few feet away.
"Mommy?" The girl sobbed, dropping the treat to crack on the cement.
Shit, you were hoping they weren't related. You really hadn't gotten to ask the girl much of anything yet.
The girl hopped up quickly and your hand dropped from her shoulder, disappearing from all other's view.
"Wait, where did she go?" The woman's head swiveled in a panic, clear confusion in her eyes.
"Mrs. Nakamora?" You stepped before her while she gave you a glance over, eyes hardening when she realized you wore a hero costume.
"Can I help you?" She snapped and took a defensive stance.
You placed your hand on the top of the little girl's head, her form becoming visible once again. "Is this your daughter?"
Her eyes dropped and lit up, tears swimming as she released a whimper. "How is she here?"
You cleared your throat, the little girl's arms wrapping around her mother's legs.
"I missed you mommy!" She dropped to her knees, arms wrapping around her child. Her body shook with sobs that wracked her entire body.
You gave them a moment before speaking, "My name is Phantom ma'am, my quirk allows me to interact with ghosts and make them visible to others. I've been tasked with finding your daughter's killer. Do you have any idea who could of done this and why?"
She shook her head, eyes lifting to you. "No, I have no idea! She let of my hand and ran into the street because she saw a dog on the other side. This dark colored sedan was coming and instead of trying to avoid her it swerved for her. Swerved! On purpose! I couldn't get to her fast enough and there were no... Heroes around."
Her final words were spit with venom on her tongue along with the glare she sent your way.
"I am truly sorry no one was around to help her. I am here now. She is not the only one from the sounds of it and will not be the last unless we find her killer. Please ma'am, anything else you can tell me about the car, or the person driving?"
She huffed before finally giving all the details of the last few moments with her daughter. The little girl sat happily in her mother's arms while chewing on a new sucker you had pulled from your pocket to replace the one she had dropped. Turns out the man had worn a medical mask to cover his face, had darker hair that was so greasy it hung in tendrils around his face.
Details all stored away in your notebook, taking a quick glance around. "Anyone else that may have seen what happened? Anyone at all?"
She turned and indicated with her head to the building behind her. "Older guy in that apartment up there. He's so nosy, always peeking out his window at people all the time. No way he didn't miss it."
You thanked her for all her time today as a deep rooting in your gut hit like a wave in the ocean. It was time to let the girl go or you were going to be painting the ground a new color.
"I am truly sorry to say this, but it is time for me to go. Please take a few moments to say your goodbyes."
You turned your head to give them a brief moment of privacy as the woman professed her love to the little girl, squeezing her as tightly as she could. When she placed her down on her feet, you knelt down to eye level with those bright eyes. Speaking lowly so only the little one could hear, taking those small hands in yours.
"It's time to go Nami, this nice gentleman here will be taking you to a pretty place filled with doggies."
Relinquishing her hand to the smiling man in his dapper suit, she looked up at him with wide eyes. He gave you a brief nod and a thanks before turning with the little girl in tow. She began chatting him up like they were old friends as he led her away, their forms slowly faded from view until nothing was left but the sidewalk and empty street.
Reapers were an interesting bunch, always recognizable by those smart suits and a small golden pin on the lapel. The symbol of their rank within the organization. You had run into a few early on and they tended to stay out of your way as you worked.
You left the stunned woman on the street and made your way into the building she had indicated the nosy man lived in. The carpets were dingy, frayed and missing chunks in spots. Walls had peeling paint and dark stains of water that had clearly been leaking for some time. Landlords who most definitely did not care for their tenants were present in every code violation you witnessed during your walk to the upper floor.
The door posted as 4D to the apartment that overlooked the street from the second floor, was as grimy as the rest of the building. Deep cracks lined the frame from previous attempts to breaking the door down or enough slams that the wood gave out.
Knocking, you waited patiently as you shifted weight from one foot to another. A second attempt was needed when no one answered, when you lowered your hand to knock again the door opened just a sliver. Narrowed eyes of an older gentleman looked through the chain that held the door at just enough to see who had the audacity to knock on his door.
"The fuck ya want?" His gruff voice sounded into the hall, you raised the photo of the girl into his view.
"Did you see this girl get hit by a car outside your building the other day?"
The door slammed in your face, chewing on your cheek in annoyance before knocking once again.
The door opened only for the briefest of moment, "Fuck off!" and slammed back into place.
Taking a deep breath your knock turned more aggressive, the door rattling with your fist. Swinging open he growled "I said Fuck Off! I ain't speaking ta no heroes!"
When the door closed once again you had enough, phasing through the wood and shocking the stocky man inside.
He began threatening to call the cops as you lifted the photo to interrupt. "Sir, This little girl was killed by a driver who swerved to hit her on purpose. This is not the first time and it will not be last unless we stop it.
His eyes narrowed, never leaving yours as you watched the wheels turn in his head to contemplate wither or not to help or reach for his phone. Making a decision he finally crossed to the window the mother had pointed at, sitting between the curtains was a professional looking camera pointing towards the street. He removed the cover from the rear and pulled something from a slot before turning and tossing it across the room to you.
Snatching the object easily from the air you opened your fingers to find a small black chip sitting on your palm. Cocking a brow you eyed him for an explination.
"I bird watch, happened ta' see what happened. I quick took some pictures and wasn't sure if I should call someone or not. Tend ta keep ta' myself... stay outta' trouble."
He sniffled and waived his hand towards the door. "That's all I got for ya, so get ta fuck out. Don't tell nobody I helped ya."
You bowed gratefully, "Thank you sir, you may have saved lives."
He huffed as you turned to exit the door properly this time, returning to your car down the street. You placed your head against the steering wheel for a brief moment, inhaling deeply before turning the key and listening to the engine start up with a roar.
The inspector took all your evidence with a wide grin on his face, "That was fast, you were only gone for a few hours!" You nodded while leaning back in your chair, placing your boots onto the chair opposite from you. "Helps when you can make a girl appear to persuade the mother into talking, might've scared an old man too."
He laughed while signing a form and sliding it across his desk. "As always keep an eye out for a subpoena to possibly testify if this leads to the arrest. From the looks of the negatives, we may have enough to go on and finally get someone behind bars for this. I think that license plate alone is the biggest win."
Taking the familiar slip you glanced it over to check everything was in order as he continued. "Your payment will be with Lisa as per usual, Great work today. I know when I say Thank you it's from everyone."
Giving a brief nod you stood from the comfortable chair and rounded towards the door. Fingers encircling the knob you paused, turning after a moment to find him watching you with a curious expression.
"Next time... No kids please. I... can't do them anymore."
He grunted in affirmation watching you leave his office. You passed through the aisle surrounded by cubicles until you found yourself before the window of your favorite lady in the world, the one who signed your paychecks.
"Lisa! My beautiful lady, I have come to collect."
The elderly woman looked up from the book in her winkled hands, cocking a brow she shot you a lopsided grin. "One of these days I'll have to start charging you for your lies."
You lips puckered in a pout when someone tapped your shoulder, flinching away and backing against the wall in shock shared by the rookie officer with a raised hand. He gasped and shot apologies rapidly left and right.
"Oh I am sorry Ma'am! I just, wanted to say I'm a big fan..." He smiled softly, cheeks dusted a light shade of pink as he rubbed the back of his neck. His fresh face indicated he couldn't have been on the force very long.
"You know who I am?" You stood up slowly while giving him a look of interest. Since you had only been on the pro scene for a short time, it always surprised you when someone new recognized who you were. The majority were those who had worked with you previously wither during your time at UA or on the field.
"Yes! I have seen you in here a few times. I followed you when you debuted awhile back." A snort from behind you caused you to turn around to find an amused Lisa leaning over her desk. "The Boy asks about you every time he sees you pick up your check. He tries to bribe information from me with snacks."
His face turned ten shades of red when you turned back to him to confirm if this was the case. "I do not! That would be so unprofessional!"
His hands waived around as he shot pleading eyes your way to let the issue go. You chuckled while fishing into your bag and revealing a candy bar. Handing it behind you it was snatched quickly by her waiting fingers and a squeal.
"I pay her for information too." You winked at the rookie who smiled as if you hung the moon.
"Here's your check Phantom." The paper was placed in your fingers in exchange for the candy.
"Thank you Lisa, once again you are beautiful, amazing, smart..." "Aw hush kiss ass and get away from my counter."
You laughed loudly while making an escape from the rookie who stood there shifting his feet as if he had more to say.
"Sorry kid, better luck next time." The elderly woman spoke while making the wrapper of her candy wrinkle to get at the sugary insides.
He turned to return to his nearby desk with a defeated look while you hightailed it out the door.
Back home the sun was starting to set and you were fully ready for a nap. By nap you meant food, definitely food then possibly bed.
Letting a yawn stretch your jaw, you replaced your costume with some comfortable lounging clothes. Returning to the kitchen afterwards you began rummaging through the cupboards for a cup, setting it on the island and turning to the fridge to find your meal and something to fill the glass.
A shiver made it's way down your spine as it had for the last few days since you moved in, shooting up to full attention you searched for the cause. Once again empty you leaned back into the fridge and finally found what you were searching for. Closing the door you were met with narrowed vermillion eyes and sandy blonde hair?
A scream ripped from your throat at the sight, a yelp of surprise from him as both of you fell on your rears. Raising your eyes from the floor you were met with... nothing.
What the hell was that? Were you seeing shit again? No there was most definitely a guy with red eyes and messy hair.
You wailed as your eyes fell on the fallen food scattered on the floor. "I dropped my snack dammit!" Groaning into the air as if it would fix your issue you picked yourself back up and started collecting the mess to throw it away. Replacing the snack with a new one you filled the glass with water and snatched it off the counter to retreat towards your room. Placing it down on the table beside you, throwing yourself onto the bed to let out a frustrated noise into the mattress.
Fucking haunted. You knew it.
--------
Silence, that's all he could remember for the longest time. Slivers of sound began to cut through his consciousness here and there, disturbing his slumber. He sat up with a groan to rub at his eyes.
Wait a minute, he was laying in a bed? Peering around his old room to find thing that were clearly not his own.
The fuck? Did his parents move back in?
He slid from the comfortable surface to nose around the room. There was definitely a whole bunch of new things in his room that were not here before. Not a shred of his belongings anywhere. No All Might poster that had hung on the far wall since he was six, his dresser and manga rack were long gone.
Who the fuck is living in his house?
The calendar hanging on the wall above a desk caught his attention, he stomped over and followed the red X's to the current date.
"No Fucking way..." He breathed, he had been sleeping for a year and a half!
His chest tightened in alarm, he had just a little under a year left on his deal with the reaper. If he had slept any longer he would have to move on without a damn complaint!
We all damn well know that isn't happening.
Clattering sounded from down the stairs making him jump, confirmation his suspicions he was indeed not alone. He slipped out of the room and the new décor in the hall caught his gaze. Nothing looked like his mother's decorating style, his teeth gritting as he tip toed down the stairs on practiced light feet from years of practice sneaking in the dark to get snacks at midnight. He hated hearing the hag yell when she caught his ass awake.
He was halfway down the stairs when he remembered he was dead. The fuck was he sneaking for? Picture frames littered the stairs with art in them instead of photographs, not one indicating who possibly lived here. Rounding the corner to the kitchen, light flooded across the floor and showing him the intruder was obviously in that room. Paired with the audible shuffling and bangs from cabinets opening and closing.
Inside the refrigerator was open with a figure bent over inside, unable to catch a good look at the person's face he moved closer slowly trying to get a glance.
Leaning over the refrigerator door just as it slammed shut he was met with bright E/C eyes that widened with his, both of them screaming and falling to the floor.
He sat across from the girl who looked around in alarm, eyes never returning to his as she growled something in frustration about her food that now littered the floor.
Did she just see him?
She picked up the floor silently before grabbing another helping and stomping up the stairs had him left without words. He had been dead for almost a full five years and this was the very first time someone who was not a reaper had even acknowledged him even if briefly.
He hopped off the floor quickly and rushed back up the stairs she had gone back to the room he had woken in. She had saw him!
She was now cuddled into her blankets, chomping away angerly at the food while scrolling her phone.
"Oi can you see me?" He waved a hand near her face, expression unchanging to indicated she did see him. How wonderful.
He began stomping around the room like an upset toddler, first person who sees him was only for a split second. Here he was back to invisible once again. He snarled and reached for a stuffed toy that sat on the floor, his fingers slipping right through.
"Fucking making my room all girly and shit." He grumbled in frustration and planted himself on the floor, arms crossed and a visible pout on his lips. He observed the girl for some time, not about to lie this was more interesting than sitting in an empty home for the last how many years. though she simply finished her meal, drank the water in her cup and moved on to some show on her phone this was the most excitement he'd had in forever.
His vermillion eyes trailed over her features, taking in the intruder to his home as he did. Observing her body's shape, the curve of her eyes, her cheeks, the way the light reflected against the tone of her skin, and the way it bounced against her beautiful, yet exhausted eyes.
He huffed and averted his eyes quickly when she rolled over, the shorts she had been wearing had rode into dangerous territory. He didn't want to sit and stare like some pervert, especially on a girl who didn't know he was there.
While her show's noise faded into the background he took the time to ponder his situation.
He had less than a few months left of his deal.
There was a semi.... all fucking right a very attractive girl in his house that may or may not have seen him.
He had to make her see him.
Could u do all might having a daughter which he neglects?
Of course I can! That is an interesting ask!
I honestly see All Might being a parent could go two ways, either the child would feel extremely neglected and in the biggest shadow ever or he would be the most loving father ever based on his interactions with his students. If anyone wants to read one of how I think All Might would be as an actual dad? Let me know :)
Warnings: SFW, talks of depression, sadness and divorce. All Might is a shit dad. Her last name is Yagi because she is All Might's daughter.
She stared at the statue before her, darkness of the shadow surrounded her like the hug she rarely got. The figure envisioned by the artist continuously showed that big smile similar to her own if anyone was privy to see it.
The plaque at the base read a blurb about "The Symbol of Peace." How great this man is and was to this day. What about the people he had to step on to get to this place? To have his status in the middle of a shopping square?
Someone like, you.
His own flesh and blood that rarely got a phone call but on birthdays or Holidays. Even then she could hardly remember the last birthday he HAD called on. It was always a quick "How you doing kiddo?" or "I just called quick to say Happy birthday."
He was always quick to call and just as quick to disconnect the line because "Duty calls," Before you could even tell him about the great gift your mother always got you. Unlike your absent father your mother was always there, quick with a tissue or shoulder for your falling tears. A band-aid for the scrape you had gotten, cake to make you feel better, kind words and exciting stories before bedtime.
Not from him.
The day your doctor told the happy couple their daughter was quirkless was the first of many, those ocean blue eyes you shared with the man gave you that look of pity. That perpetual look that you were something to be protected, fragile, nothing. How can a quirkless person be a hero?
It had been the first day he stopped coming home at night, returning your mother's calls asking when he'd be home for dinner. Justice was always the answer. Cold nights in a bed alone, her seven year old daughter crawling in her lap to wipe the tears from her mother's cheeks.
Finally your mother had enough, the stack of papers from her lawyer were left on the table indicated he was going to be alone. When she received the notification he would not fight she knew the battle was lost, he no longer cared... If he did at all.
Your mother took you away from Tokyo where his agency was based, moving to the new city of Musatafu. He came to see you from time to time but it seemed only when he was already there for a non you reason. There was always seemingly an event in town, a mission he was taking care of to help out another agency.
Regardless of your absent father you never let it get you down. Your father was All might! The coolest hero in the world, right? When you started primary school and made friends of course you would boast about who your father was! Though their sneers and jokes about how you lie started to tear at the fabric of your heart, you slowly began keeping that information to your self. Who cared anyway? Not like the man ever called or stopped in unless it was convenient to him.
In middle school a miracle occurred, you developed your mother's quirk suddenly. A late bloomer the doctor had said. Testing your limits they discovered it was an even stronger version of her own with the next generation. Energy Manipulation, a strong quirk.
The word had gotten to your father and it was as if a switch flipped. He was always calling, always stopping by. "Hey kid, want to come on patrol with me and see how heroes work?" Your hopes had never been higher! Until he didn't show... again. Villain attacked he had blamed.
It was about age fourteen when you finally had enough, he had shown up to drop off a gift. A gift you promptly smashed to the floor.
"Why are you here? You rarely call, you only show up when you FEEL like it! I'm sick of you only having time for me when it's good for you! I developed a quirk late and now suddenly you want to be my dad? Go be the symbol of peace. Why don't you tell everyone how you stepped on your FAMILY to do it?"
Your teeth were bared, nostrils flaring as your chest heaved at finally giving him the piece of mind he deserved. His eyes had widened and not a word was said. He simply turned and left, no phone calls, no surprise visits. He simply disappeared.
Years passed and you decided with great resolve you were going to become a great hero and if you ever had a family, they would be your priority. You were going to become a better hero than that man ever was! You aced your tests, got good grades and trained day in and out. Your mother helped with quirk control and when time was ready, you applied for UA.
The entrance exam was decent, your fingers stretching towards the machine and feeling the crackle of the electricity inside. Lifting the unit you smashed them into another, shorted out, smashed, tore apart until finally the buzzer rang out.
Your acceptance came a week later, so did the buzz about someone becoming a new teacher. The one and only All Might. The first couple weeks were rocky, but you proved to him and everyone you deserved to be where you were.
"Yagi!"
The voice tore you out of your thoughts, head turning to find a messy haired, green eyed boy standing with your fellow classmates of 1A. They all smiled as you stood before that stupid statue.
"Let's go! It's time to be heroes!"
Adjusting your hero gear, you took the hand of the boy who idolized your father more than anyone else. His fingers interlaced with yours as his bright smile earned one of your own in return. He may have your father's quirk, he may have thought your dad is the greatest guy since sliced bread.
He had watched since the day you joined his class in Aldera Middle, the bright girl who rose from the shadow and brought her own light to the world. Whose smile outshined any that the "Symbol of Peace" had to offer.
If someone were to ask him today, "Who was the greatest hero who ever lived?" He'd smile his own thousand watt smile and without any hesitation he would give one name.... Yours.
Previous Part: Prologue
Scrolling through ads listing rentals you sighed heavily.
"Toshi why is it so hard to find a decent place to rent anymore?"
Your lavender hair, sleep deprived friend lifted his shoulders in a short shrug. "Finding a place isn't the hard thing. It's finding a good area worth the money."
He wrapped up his spare capture scarf into the gym bag he was packing, another breath of air leaving your body. "I'm so sick of this. Why can't your boyfriend help again? He's the one moving with us."
A single snort was your response as he zipped the bag closed. "Kaminari couldn't find himself out of a wet paper bag, you really want to put him in charge of finding a rental?"
You eyed him while grumbling a No, letting the phone fall against your chest. "Yet you're dating the guy, going on a three month mission with him to boot."
He shrugged once more with a sly smirk on his lips. "You know, you should find someone too. Maybe you'd be less bitchy."
Narrowing your eyes at him to indicate he was on thin ice he showed both palms in surrender. "Sorry, sorry."
Picking the phone back up, you continued your search once again. A brand new listing caught your attention, a pretty decently sized house with a similar monthly price. There would be plenty of room for Hitoshi, his boyfriend Denki Kaminari, and yourself.
"Hey, look at this one Toshi."
You sat up shoving the phone in front of his face before his long fingers curled around the device and brought it to a more acceptable level. "House looks a bit familiar for some reason, Three bedroom, two bath... wow there's actually a nice sized yard." He scrolled a bit more to list the 'About the landlord' section that gave a brief history.
"Landlord information says it's an older couple renting out their family home." He tossed the device back into your lap before moving his gym bag from the table. "Where is it?"
You read off the address and he scratched the back of his neck in though. "That's a great neighborhood, why don't you give them a call and we can try to look today before I leave?" You nodded and clicked the link to call the landlord. The line beeped only a few short times before a click was heard.
"Mitsuki Bakugo speaking."
You smiled, glad a person actually answered after all the scams and wrong numbers listed on the site. "Hello! I was interested in viewing your home for rent?"
The conversation was brief, she indicated her schedule was open for the afternoon and you set up a time to view the home. She took down your name and contact information right before the call disconnected. Hitoshi had put away his bag with the other moving boxes littering the living space of your current apartment.
"You planning to invite Kami to see the place with us?" He shook his head in response, "No, he needs to pack and if him calling me or texting me every five minutes isn't enough of a distraction this would be. I think he also has a joint patrol with Red Riot during that time so he'll lay his head wherever I tell him to."
You let out a brief huff of air in amusement, pulling the sleeves of your shirt over your chilled hands. "It's two thirty now and we have two hours before the viewing, should we grab some food before we meet her?"
Hitoshi nodded while rubbing his eye, a short yawn stretching out his jaw. "Or do you need a nap first?" You teased, poking his side to watch him jump.
"Fuck off, I've been doing a lot of late night mission for Eraserhead. Ever since I took over as his lead sidekick he's been working me harder and harder."
"Kinky."
The glare he shot you could bore holes in your head if he wanted to, raising your hands in surrender before gathering up the essentials to leave.
The car ride to the restaurant you frequented was a short one, only being a few blocks from your current building. The hostess flashed a bright smile and welcomed us in by name before leading us to the usual table in the rear away from... people.
You chatted a bit here and there while waiting on your order, reminiscing back on how your friendship started.
After graduating UA you had applied to Eraserhead's agency. He had been your teacher for the first two years of your schooling, however before your third term began he had retired officially to focus on his agency. His retiring speech had cited the death of one of his previous students as one of the main reasons he just couldn't bring himself to teach any longer, however had decided to omit the name.
He had accepted your application and placed you underneath his lead side kick Hitoshi Shinso, who happened to be three years your senior. Learning quickly he shared similar outlooks on life and people, a bond was made. He was considerate at your hesitancy when it came to physical touch and had even told off a few who were too pushy at one of the few hero galas you chose to attend.
After only a year of being on the hero scene had been enough for you. The toll your body took from the backlashes of your quirk placed you in the hospital enough times that calling it quits was the only option. On top of retiring from hero life, the same month your parents had been hit by a drunk driver and unfortunately did not survive.
Histoshi had offered his spare bedroom to you when you had no where to go and had been living there ever since. The lease was now up as of a few months ago, hence your search for a new place.
"Day dreaming again?" His voice cut through your memories like a knife, yanking you back to present times. Your chopsticks snatched a dumpling as you shrugged. "Just, reminiscing how we got here."
"We drove here."
Eyes rolling so hard they threatened to fall out of your head you chewed a bit overly aggressive as your eyes narrowed.
"I was talking about how crazy it is we've been friends for so long."
He nodded while slurping up a noodle. "Yeah, dealing with you has been a trip. Heroing and living together, now we're possibly moving into a house together."
"You make it sound like we're the couple. I think Kami will be a bit upset that you're after me."
You winked as his nose crinkled in disgust, "You are a beautiful, intelligent woman and I love you the most, but please understand when I say... Ew."
Dropping some cash on the table for your waitress, you both made your way back to Toshi's car in the parking lot. It was getting close to the meeting time and the GPS indicated you were at least thirty minutes away from the house, cutting it close.
Taking the passenger seat you placed the phone on your thigh with the directions open so you could lead him as the designated navigator. You placed your chin in the palm of your hand as you leaned towards the window, watching the scenery whip by of busy walkways and large business buildings. The view took a turn as you left the urban life to a quiet neighborhood filled with trees, green grass and children running around parks.
"Certainly pretty here." You mumbled looking around. Catching the gaze of a long man peeking out from behind a tree, you gulped and averted your eyes rather quickly. After a moment peering back to see the man had seemingly vanished as if to thin air. Releasing the breath you held and leaning back against the window.
"Turn left at the next stop sign." The electronic voice sounded from your phone's speaker and the driver followed just before the voice sounded again.
"Arrived."
The car pulled up to the curb, your attention being drawn to the building beside you. A brick wall surrounded the home, a small gate was the only opening to a walkway leading up to the home you had only seen in pictures. The brick home sat higher in the sky than you thought, realizing it was quite the large home for what they were asking monthly.
"Are you sure we need all this space? This looks a hell of a lot bigger than the photos. Think this is another scam? The rent isn't mathing here."
Turning your attention to your companion he shrugged and started to exit the car. With a deep inhale your fingers popped the door handle and swung the door out to follow. A door opened on the car before Hitoshi's, a long leg sliding out of the car first with a long heel attached. A taller blonde woman stepped out of the car, her head swiveling before landing on the both of you.
The woman was gorgeous, unruly blonde hair cascaded down to her sharp shoulders, sunglasses sitting on her perfectly shaped face. Her heels that matched her fashionable outfit clacked against the concrete as she stepped before you while sliding her sunglasses up to reveal piercing crimson eyes.
Holding out a perfectly manicured hand her smile lit up her face even more. "Hello there, I'm Mitsuki. We spoke on the phone?"
Your eyes flashed to Histoshi's for the briefest of moments before he gave a barely noticeable nod that satiated your reluctance.
"I'm sorry uh..."
Hitoshi quickly slid in and placed his hand in Mitsuki's to shake firmly.
"Hello, I am Hitoshi Shinso and I apologize she is not one for touch. Quirk interference."
Mistuki's face dropped into shame as she shook Hitsoshi's "I am so sorry dear please forgive me."
You nodded with a small smile and introduced yourself with a small bow. She turned her attention to the home and opened the gate for you all to file into the yard.
"Please let me show you the house, it's quite cute if I say so myself!"
She began speaking a mile a minute, pointing out little things about the home here and there. We could tell from all the details she provided this had been her long time home. "We purchased this home back when I first married my husband. A few years here alone and then we had..."
Her voice trailed off as her hand pressed against the door frame to a bedroom, thumb trailing back and forth over the closest notch a few inches taller than herself.
"Anyway, let's continue." She listed off more facts about the home, monthly rent amount, when and how she expected it to be paid. She provided her contact information besides the number we already had should anything come up for repair or issues with the payment.
"Well, that's just about everything." She finally waived her hand at the end of the tour. The home itself was beautiful, bedrooms big enough that your friends would have their own space and we could even have a guest space should anyone need it. The kitchen was huge and had an island in the middle that you could totally see yourself drinking coffee or tea in the morning while tuning out the world.
"What do you two think? I think it's a wonderful home for a young couple such as yourself." You froze at her words, turning to the woman who had nothing but a genuine smile on her full lips. "Oh uh, Hitsoshi and I are just close friends. It would actually be his boyfriend, himself and I living here."
Her eyes widened with a gasp as she placed her hands together, "Oh dear I'm so sorry I assumed." She tapped the top of her head with her fist lightly, "Silly me."
I nodded indicating it was a non issue, "Would you mind, giving us just a few minutes to discuss?"
She smiled and nodded, disappearing upstairs into one of the darker rooms.
"What do you think?" You elbowed Hitoshi in the side, he startled a bit almost as if he had been asleep on his feet. "It's a nice house, great price and neighborhood is quiet compared to the city. I can see myself getting some real sleep here."
"You have zero standards besides where you can set your bed do you?" He shrugged as per his normal move once again, "You should be well aware of this by now."
After your short deliberation, you called out, "Mrs. Bakugo?"
Her head poked out of the room she had been in before making her way back down the stairs. "Oh sweetheart just Mitsuki. No need to be formal."
"We would like to take the house if you'd let us."
Her hands clasped together with a loud snap in the empty space. "I'm so glad! We've just been sitting on this house for so long deciding what to do with it and I can't wait to see how you decorate it!"
Required paperwork signed, deposit and first month's rent in hand, she dropped the keys into your open palm. She insisted to call her if there were any issues and as she gathered up the paperwork into a folder she hugged it to her chest and shook Hitoshi's hand once more while offering you a short nod of the head.
At the door she gave a short glance back and you swore you saw a flash of sadness cross her features before the door closed behind her with a snap. You tested the weight of the keys in your hand a moment before turning to your roommate.
"Well, should we start moving or wait for tomorrow?"
He titled his head for a moment in thought, "Better get started now or you'll be bitching to me that you had to move everything alone when Denki and I leave tomorrow."
A wide grin crossed your features. "Damn right."
It only took a few hours and a couple trips with vehicles to move everything from your old apartment to the new house. Hitoshi had called up Kaminari to let him know the new address, who in turn let him know that he had gotten someone to cover his patrol route so he would be able to come help move the heavier stuff.
Kaminari pulled up in a bright yellow sports car a few minutes later, the large pink decals on the front making it resemble the cartoon creature nickname his friends tended to use. His first reaction was to mention how the house looked quite familiar to him as well, before running off to "claim his room." Both he and his boyfriend then found themselves in argument over which room they would be sharing.
Hitoshi wanted the room on the far right as it was the darkest of them all, however Denki complained the room "Creeped him out" until finally with a huff his sleep deprived boyfriend gave up and accepted the room across the hall. You however were just fine with taking the dark room being quite the night owl.
Your blade easily slipped through the tape holding the box labeled 'kitchen' closed. Placing the pots and pans away in their new homes you decided to leave a few out for the dinner you planned to make soon.
The three of you sat on the floor with plate in lap, random lamps illuminating the space while you found yourself laughing to Kaminari's retelling of a capture gone wrong from the day before.
The both of them finished their food and thanked you for cooking. Due to their early departure scheduled for the next day they bid their good nights and you assured them you were fine with unpacking as much as you could later. Retreating to their room on the left side of the hall you were left alone in the sea of boxes that were yet to be unpacked.
You finished up washing your dish and placed it in the strainer before taking stock of the boxes still nearby that could be put away. A yawn broke through however since all three of you had stayed up as long as you could into the wee hours of the morning, catching up however you decided the boxes to could wait until the next day.
Grabbing a glass of water you made your way up the stairs to the door on the right side of the hall to your new bedroom. Stopping at the frame to turn on the light your eyes dragged up and down quickly in remembrance this was the door Mitsuki had paused at when speaking. Indented in the wood were several notches that lined from the floor to the ceiling periodically, stopping at the height just a bit above your own.
Height Notches? Did the Bakugo's have a child?
You raised your hand to touch the tallest mark with the tips of your fingers, whoever this measured was pretty gifted in height. With a hum of curiosity you finally flipped on the light and closed the door behind you. One of the first things that had been done were the beds since sleep was always Toshi's top priority, knowing no one wanted to sleep on the floor as well.
Taking a quick swig of water and placing the glass on the table beside your bed, you climb inside the covers and wiggled down until they enveloped you in a warm embrace. The warmth was short lived when a breath of cold air ran down the length of your spine, shivers racking your body as you shot upward to glance around with wide eyes.
Chewing on your bottom lip you looked around while praying it was your imagination. Knowing your quirk was hardly wrong however you sighed and laid down slowly while keeping watching for any sign of movements. After nothing showed itself for some time the relaxation seeped into your tired joints and you finally fell asleep with one final thought.
This house isn't haunted... is it?
The next few days flew by pretty quickly. You had said goodbye to Hitoshi and Kaminari the next morning as they left packed down with all their luggage. Box after box was emptied and the contents put away until only a few remained. They were clearly marked as either Toshi or Kami's stuff so you made the choice to shove the boxes into the guest room until they returned as not to dig through their stuff. They would be just fine there until the duo returned.
Your phone trilled from it's spot on the counter, the name "Inspector" flashing over the screen. Taking the call you were informed a cold case had crossed his desk and he could use some help tracking down the perpetrator with your "Special skills."
The skills he alluded to was your quirk Ghost. This gave you the basic abilities of an apparition, phasing through walls, items phasing through your body, invisibility... to communicate and interact with the dead.
Draw backs? No distinction between the living and the dead without specifically touching them first. Hence the innate dislike of physical contact or interaction in general. Since you never know wither the person you're speaking with is dead or alive you tend to... not.
This was the reason when you met Mitsuki for the first time you had looked to Hitsohi for quick confirmation that she was in fact a living breathing person that could be seen. Though you were sure no one was playing tricks it was always better to be safe than sorry.
Especially when the biggest drawback was learning what happens when you touch the dead for the first time. More times than not as soon as your fingers connected with any part of the person's body you would be thrown into their last few moments in life, forced to relive their death in a vision so real it was as if you lived it yourself. After a few accidental field trips, the fear of touching anyone slowly crept in. Though it did not happen every time for some reason, but it did happen more often than not.
The main reason you had decided to "hang the cape" of hero work as it were was the final drawback, the sickness. Overusing the quirk, interacting with the dead via touch, manipulation or speech would cause dreaded stomach aches that left you down for hours and sometimes days. Continued exposure led to vomiting, extreme dizziness from the switch between the planes of living and dead.
So at the ripe old age of 20 you decided enough was enough and retired officially from hero work. Though you still retained your license should you need it, freelance work helped pay the bills from time to time as a contractor with the police department for special cases. Paying surprisingly well when you were contracted for mostly simple things, Who killed you? Where did you bury millions? Settling disputes of wills by speaking with the dearly departed.
"No problem Inspector Tsukauchi, I'll be in shortly." Thumbing the end button you slipped the phone into your pocket when once again the shiver ran down your spine. Peering around you found no indication of any sprit even if you had been sensing the presence for days now.
Was it a residual from a spirit no longer on this plane? Did they recently cross over or abandon this haunt?
Retreating to your bedroom to fish the costume case from the back of the closet in order to change quickly and meet the inspector at the station. Now clad head to toe in the simple dark body forming material that allowed you to phase between worlds easily you were ready to greet this new case. You placed the mask around your eyes that concealed your identity for privacy means while grabbing the keys to your modest little car.
Hopefully this case will take your mind off the possible haunting of your new home.
Afterlife
Prologue
Summary: An early death for the aspiring number one hero left a bitter taste in Bakugo Katsuki’s mouth. At the ripe age of 20, he was taken from the world and he was clearly not ready to go. After a long time of refusing to cross over to promised peace, his personal Reaper offers him one deal and one deal only to return to the land of the living. However they really did not play fair… Haphephobia is the fear of being touched by others, When your quirk cannot distinguish the living from the dead, you tend to develop a fear of contact. You are an ex Pro-hero who has recently rented a home from a couple who lost their son a few years back. You can feel someone residing in the home, someone with a bad attitude and only 12 months left to fulfill his end of the deal before he is forced to cross.. to the Afterlife.
Warnings: Dark themes, cursing, Haphephobia (the reader has a fear of touching overs), Quirk allows her to see dead people. Cursing, talks of death, violence and life threatening injuries. Later parts may contain NSFW but will be noted.
Pain. Excruciating, unwavering pain.
That was all he felt from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. This was the last feeling he could remember before… Nothing. As suddenly as the pain came, it was gone, though the sounds of sirens and screams remained.
Surveying his surroundings, a flash of green lightning overtook his attention. His long time, green clad rival fell from the sky with a resounding thud, shaking the nearby ground.
"What the hell are you doing here Deku? I have this!" The man snapped without delay.
The green haired man didn't look at him or really acknowledge him at all, rising anger filled the ash blonde.
"Kaa…chan?"
The stunned hero finally choked out, tears pricking the corners of his emerald colored eyes.
"Why the hell are you crying now you damn idiot? We have villains to ki…"
Interrupted by a gut wrenching scream that tore through the air like sharp blades. Deku screamed, his leaking eyes landing on something behind the man.
Finally turning and following Deku's gaze, his gut dropped. There in a pile of rubble, lay... himself.
Katsuki Bakugo, current number seven, pro hero Dynamite. His words failed him for one of the first times in his life, his chest heaving as his childhood friend rushed to his still body. Deku gingerly picked up his upper half and lay it in his own lap. As per usual Deku was muttering over and over the same word "No." His widened gaze on the fallen man.
Dull vermillion eyes stared back up at him that were almost always narrowed, were now relaxed. "Please no!" Izuku whined as Katsuki himself hyperventilated.
"This is a dream right? A fucking joke?" He chuckled dryly, his chest siezing once again when Deku raised his hand slowly to his ear. Pressing his communicator his voice croaked out through sobs.
"This is Pro hero Deku…. I… need immediate medical assistance to my location. Pro Hero Dynamite… has fallen."
The words sliced Katsuki's chest, his fingers now gripping the fabric of his torn hero costume. No! This is not real! He wasn't even number one yet! At only 20 years old, he had just graduated UA only a few years ago! How was he….dead?
A strip of red brought him out of his stupor, eyes now landing on the tall muscular frame of… his best friend.
"Kats?" The man whispered, his eyes widened in disbelief.
"Please tell me this is a dream shitty hair! Or one of you and the other idiot's stupid pranks!" He screamed at the shocked man, tears now misting up his similar colored eyes.
"I am sorry to say this is no joke Bakugo Katsuki."
A calm voice broke through the crying screams of his friends, turning to find a woman he had never laid eyes on in his life.
She was on the shorter side, slender frame with beautiful, caramel colored skin. Her dark almond colored eyes were soft, watching him with a soft reassuring smile lay on her full lips.
"Who the fuck are you?" The ash blonde snapped, watching her smile simply widen.
"I have been called many things over the years…You may call me Nyx."
He crossed his arms, eyeing the woman. "That didn't answer my question, who the hell are you?"
She simply motioned with her hand, indicating for him to follow behind.
While she sauntered away, his eyes returned his former classmates.
Kirishima now cradled his body with deep racking sobs, rocking slowly as Deku spoke urgently on the phone. With a deep sigh, he turned to reluctantly follow the woman around the corner.
Once he had rounded the corner he found himself no longer on the street, frozen where he stood. His surroundings now resembled the living room of his childhood home. Glancing around in confusion at the familiar surroundings.
His mother was in the kitchen humming away while she cleaned a dish, his father reading the paper at the island in the same area.
"Hag? Old man?" He called for their attention, however once again no reaction.
"They won't respond unfortunately, they cannot see, nor hear you."
The woman's voice catching his attention once again. She now sat on the couch, one leg propped up over the other. "Why the fuck are we here?" He snarled, anger rising once again quickly.
"I thought this would be a more… comfortable enviroment for our conversation than a destroyed street." He rolled his eyes as she pat the seat beside her with long, manicured fingers. He stomped before her, opting to cross his arms instead over his chest rather than sitting.
"Just tell me who the fuck you are and why I saw myself with those nerds."
Her smile faltered just the slightest, but maintained her professional demeanor. She flicked a piece of dust from her pantsuit covered knee, "Well Sir, because you died."
He raised a brow, sneer crossing his lips. "If this is some kind of joke or villain's quirk, release it now because it's not fucking funny."
She frowned now, her full lips pursing slightly at his brash attitude. "I assure you Mr. Bakugo, that I would not be here unless you were well and truly dead. You died in battle with a villain I'm afraid… I never fully introduced myself, so for that I apologize."
She stood now, offering her hand. "I am Nyx, your personal reaper assigned to take you to the afterlife."
He snorted, slapping her hand away. "Bullshit and I'm the King of Dragons." She smirked, placing her hands at her lower back now.
"Maybe in a past life."
Commotion caught his attention behind them, hearing his mothers excited voice now. "Oh Izuku! Ejirou! How are you?"
His eyes widened, turning to see his mother holding open the front door. Deku and Kirishima stood in the frame, the green boy as fidgety as ever. The darkness behind them through the threshold indicated it was now well into night time. Just how much time has passed already?
"Mrs. Bakugo." Kirishima started, his mothers hand raising to pause him "Oh honey, you've been over here a thousand times! Call me Mitsuki! Speaking of my brat, is he not with you?"
Katsuki blinked, they weren't about to… were they? Kirishima cleared his throat and tried again with a sad smile, "Mrs. Bakugo, could we… maybe sit with your husband?"
Her smile faltered, taking note they were still in full hero attire mixed with somber faces. Nodding, she hurriedly ushered them to the kitchen.
"We can… go somewhere else if you do not want to hear this." Nyx spoke softly as if to a child who had dropped his ice cream. He glared at her when his mother's scream tore through the air, chilling every drop of blood in his body. Anxiety spiked as he felt the urge to rush to her, tell her he was there. He was NOT dead.
His mother and he always had such a strained relationship. After he had graduated and stepped into adulthood their relationship had gotten a lot better. They had kept in touch when he moved into his own place and started rising in the ranks.
"I am truly sorry Bakugo, your family will be alright. You can pass on to paradise knowing that they will be just fine."
He snorted, "Fine? Do you not hear my mother wailing in there? I'm not dead! I'm not going anywhere! I will be the number one hero yet!" He crossed his arms once again, Nyx letting a sigh pass her lips. She straightened her jacket and met his angered expression with a passive one of her own. “I'll give you some time to yourself. When you are ready, I will return."
He rolled his eyes, "Fuck off already. I'm not dying today, tomorrow or ever!"
Nyx gave a small bow, a lot of newly passed souls acted similarly. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance, these were very common. Seems Bakugo was deep in the first two options. She exited the residence, fully expecting to return to a soon to be changed man, ready to pass.
Boy how wrong she was.
Three years… Three. Long. Fucking years later.
She has had to deal with this ONE soul, her longest mission yet. The previous one had lasted all of six months before he finally agreed to passing on. But NO! Not this stubborn as fuck ash blonde. She had tried almost every trick in the reaper's guide, showing him his funeral, some of his past and even a future where had he lived. Hell! She had even tried bribing him!
Nothing. Worked. To this day he had told her to fuck off more times than not, go bother someone else. He was damn sure he was going to come back to life any second, or will wake from this nightmare if he held out long enough.
After they had entered his childhood home, he had not been able to leave. He was able to walk the property line, but it was as if there was an invisible barrier keeping him here. He had tried using his quirk on it to let him pass, but he could no longer use the explosions that had always been available since he was four years old.
Being stuck here, he had bore witness to his parent's grief of losing their only child so young. His former classmates, acquaintances and even his teachers had all made appearances at some point to offer their condolences.
Deku and Shitty hair were the frequent flyers, checking in on his parents the most. Their visits had slowly became less frequent when time passed. He had kept up with the news of the world through their visits and the broadcasts his parents watched nightly.
Endeavor had retired a few months after his death, blaming himself for not being there for his protégé's death. Izuku was steadily climbing the ranks and currently sat at number 3. Kirishima had taken a few month break to recover from his closest friend's death. There had been many coverages, specials and interviews about his death. It was quite funny how people seem to care more when you're dead then alive.
At current he stood in the middle of a bare living room, watching his parents carry out box after box of their belongings from the home. He had overheard their conversation a couple months prior how they couldn't live here any longer, the memories of their son were just too much to handle any longer. Learning of his death had really taken a daily toll on them until they decided it was time to let it all go. They had purchased a smaller home across town, still debating on what to do with the one he currently stood in.
"Bakugo."
The annoying as shit voice cut through the silence, drawing his presence. "What the fuck do you want Grim?"
She openly pouted at the nickname he had given her from the first few days. "It's time to go home… Look at your family, they're moving on. It's your turn."
He snorted, reaching down in attempts of lifting a box that sat at his feet. His hands slipping easily through the box as he sighed.
"Get bent."
"At this point I really wish I could." She grumbled in response.
He watched as his parents removed the last of the boxes, now making their final rounds. His mother stood just inside the doorframe to his childhood bedroom, holding herself with her fingers clutching the necklace at her throat.
The necklace held a small silver, grenade shaped charm that had been gifted from Kirishima a few months after he passed. He managed to hold onto one of Bakugo's bracers and had the small charm made from the metal for her, she had worn it every day since. Tears danced in her weary eyes, giving one last glance over her son's empty room.
"Good Bye… Katsuki."
He heard her whisper, the words making his chest tight. He reached out, trying to catch her hand and assure he was there. Again, his hand slipping through as she turned to leave. Mitsuki had become so quiet since he passed, it just wasn't right!
He should be here! Able to scream with her, struggle from her hugs and become who he was supposed to be!
"Oi, Grim." He called, returning to the living room.
The woman in question hummed in response as she leaned against the far wall.
"What the fuck do I need to do?" She smiled, Is he finally ready? "You just need to come with me, I'll take you home. You will feel no discomfort I assure you."
He crossed his arms with a grunt. "No Dipshit, how do I come back to life? What do I need to do?"
She huffed, too good to be true. "Bakugo, I've told your stubborn ass several times. You're dead. End of story!"
Her professionalism had gone out the door after month eight, only able to take so many insults and harsh words before it was time to take different measures.
Mirroring his stance, she indicating she meant business.
"Bullshit, you can work some magic shit. You're a reaper!"
Letting her head fall back, she groaned loudly in frustration. She was so taking a long vacation after dealing with this one. "Make me a deal or some shit."
She let her gaze return to the man, Did he finally hit bargaining? "This isn't Supernatural Bakugo, You're not a Winchester making deals to return. Things like that don't happen here in the real world."
He slammed his fist to the wall, "I can't accept this shit! I'm supposed to be saving people! Climbing the ranks and become number one! How the fuck am I supposed to surpass All Might if I'm dead? I've already wasted three years!"
Back to anger, he seems to live in that one. They have had this argument countless times and it never changed. She rubbed the bridge of her nose, he had his pride and she had hers. Her boss had offered to switch her out with someone else, but No! This was her case! She was going to complete it dammit!
"Fine Katsuki Bakugo. Three years I have tried to convince you to cross over. I have had it! I'll make you a deal if you want one. ONE deal… The only one I'll ever make, as it goes against many regulations, take it… or leave it."
She now stood to her full height, arms crossed as his smirk grew.
"Now we're talking."
"I'll give you this chance, this one single chance. If you can do it… I'll let you return to life. You'll be free to live your natural life until your time returns once again."
He nodded along in impatience, hands quivering in excitement even if his face remained stoic as ever.
"The deal is…. You must find someone to love you and love them in return."
His shoulders dropped along with his expression, "What in the Disney shit is this?" He snapped, earning a devious smile from her.
"I will give you three years to do so. If you can… I'll grant your return. If you can't…" She waived her hand, indicating his gaze to follow. He did, the far door filling up with ethereal sparkling light as he had seen many times during her attempts. "You will cross over… No complaints."
He blinked for a moment when they then lowered into slits "If I refuse?" She shrugs, "Then you stay here until you're ready and I'll keep bothering you each and every day until then. Dead as a doornail."
Groaning, he mulled this for a minute while eying her face for any hint of deception. "That's the only deal you can offer? Make some extra love me, and I'm back to hero status?" Nodding she picked at a loose paint chip on the wall with a fingernail. "And love them in return. I promise on my honor as a reaper, I will return you to life should you complete this."
His nose wrinkled in disgust, "How the hell am I supposed to make some extra fall in love with me? Love them too? Fuck that. "No."
She cocked a brow "No?"
He nodded in determination as her lips spread in a mischevious smile. "Fine."
Striding to the middle of the floor she sat down, crossing her legs.
"The fuck you doing?" He questioned, turning slowly to not find the woman on the floor but the one person who annoyed him most in his life.
"Becoming your worst nightmare." The now sitting Izuku spoke giving his brightest smile.
Thirty days. Thirty whole days of constant annoying ass antics from the reaper is all it took. She had taken to showing up as the green nerd, mumbling constantly, singing and even just calling him "Kaachan" over and over for him to finally snap. He had tried to stick it out, ignore her while she sang show tunes or poked him over and over. She had pulled out every trick in the book like an annoying little sister until he had finally given in.
"ALL FUCKING RIGHT I'LL TAKE THE DEAL!" The reaper formed as Izuku paused, holding her hand in the mid poke. She let the image melt off her skin, tilting her head. "You want the deal?"
He nodded, glaring her down viciously. "Yes! Now fuck off!" She lowered her hand before backing up a bit. Holding it out she offered him to shake.
"Shake on it, you'll have three years to find someone to love you and love in return."
He enveloped her small hand with his own, shaking it roughly. "What now?" He grunted and she smiled. "Now, I'll return exactly three years from now to check in. If you have found your person before then I'll return sooner, or if you decide to go home finally you can call for me too."
She began walking towards the front door as she always did when she left. Wrapping her fingers around the handle turning back with a smile. "Good luck."
Exiting the house she was gone.
He quickly found the limits of said deal. Though she had made the offer, she had not released his hold on the house. He still found himself stuck at the border of the property line, screaming at passerby's even if he still could not be seen or heard.
She sure did not play fair, giving him this deal that she knew he would fail.
He tried every single day for months to catch someone's attention. Anyone really, he didn't care at this point. Not one fucking person acknowledged him, indicated at all they could hear him. As his hope diminished, he found himself slowly staying inside for longer periods of time. Losing hours of time he simply couldn't recall.
Soon it was days, weeks and then when he was at his lowest… he fell into a deep slumber.
