*ೃ༄ The Sound of Two Different Hearts - Part Six - Neteyam x Human!Fem!Reader
This part is a bit shorter than the others, because I didn't really have much time to write this week, but I hope you like it anyway.
warnings: fighting (mentions blood once), Aonung and his friends being mean, Tsireya is the kind soul of the family, fluffy fluff with a surprise at the end, sully sibling teasing
word count: 3.6k
synopsis: The Sully Family and Y/N have their first lesson with Tsireya. Everything went fine until Y/N and Kiri are alone at the beach and Aonung and his friends started making fun of them. But the Sully Brothers came to a rescue even if it means being scolded again by their father.

When they got back to the marui pod, the two of them got themselves ready for bed. It was quiet and dark since the others had already decided to go to sleep. Only the lights from the water below them illuminated the small room. Y/N and Neteyam both settled into their beds and tried to sleep, but unfortunately in vain. Jake snored again, which kept Y/N awake and she continued to look through the large opening of the pod, which faced the village. Neteyam just couldn't fall asleep, blaming himself for getting cold feet again after Lo'ak interrupted him in his confession.
Some time passed until Y/N started whispering, "Nete, are you asleep yet?"
"No, I'm still awake," he answered back softly.
"Can I lie down with you? I can't sleep," Y/N asked, turning in his direction only to be hidden by Tuktirey's sleeping figure.
He nodded, but quickly realized she couldn't see him at all. "Yes, of course. Come here."
She tried to sneak over as quietly as possible so she wouldn't wake up any of the other family members, and took her blanket over to Neteyam's mat. Y/N then laid down next to him - with her face turned toward Nete. "Thank you," she said, stroking his face with her hand to get his braids out of the way. Neteyam, lying on his back, could hardly believe that Y/N had asked him if she could lie down with him.
His freckles glowed in the darkness and his pupils were quite large as he looked at her small form. Even in this dark environment, Y/N looked to him like a gift from Eywa herself. He spread his arm to signal her that she could move closer to him. She quickly followed his request, and to do so, she laid her head on his chest to nestle her body against his side.
Y/N could not quite believe that she had dared to ask him. As children, they had always napped together and could often be found tangled up with each other somewhere in the Omatikaya clan. But as the two grew older, the naps they shared became fewer and fewer, with more and more distance between them.
Her heart hammered in her chest when Neteyam said she could slide closer to him. But she couldn't be happier to have him by her side. In the last few days, they were getting closer again and she just had to take her chance.
She quickly fell asleep at his side, but Neteyam still wasn't really tired, as he was overjoyed to have his dream mate sleeping peacefully beside him. His body was simply pouring out masses of happy hormones.
Later, when he became tired and his eyes slowly fell closed, he took the corner of Y/N's thin blanket and pulled it over her sleeping form, in case she should get cold tonight.
The night itself was pretty quiet, however in the morning Y/N and Neteyam were awakened not so gently.
"How do you turn this thing on, anyway?"
"Up there."
"No that was the trigger. Here!"
"Ah found it"
"Oh you skxawng, now you turned on the flash!"
"Give me that Lo'ak. I'll do it!" Kiri's voice snapped them both out of their sleep and then all that could be heard was the click of a camera.
Neteyam who woke up confused from his sleep raised his hand in front of his face as he was blinded by the flash.
"What are you doing?" he asked, disoriented.
"I want to do one too," Tuk's voice drowned out Neteyam.
"Watch out or you'll break it," Lo'ak was heard saying.
And before Neteyam could ask another time what was actually happening here, there came another bright flash of light from which he was blinded again. Nete squinted his eyes and blinked quickly afterwards to get rid of the colorful little shapes in his field of vision.
Now Y/N was awake too and looked around to see why there was so much going on and where all the voices were coming from.
In front of them stood Tuk, Kiri and Lo'ak with Y/N's camera in hand and grinning as if there was no tomorrow.
"What's going on?" she asked groggily, rubbing her eyes. "Did you take pictures of us?"
"Maybe," Kiri teased. "We have to capture it when the two lovebirds cuddle together, don't we?" Lo'ak started laughing. "It just looked too inviting."
"Neteyam has a girlfriend, Neteyam has a girlfriend," Tuk Tuk said in a sing sang voice.
"We're not together. We're just friends," Y/N tried to interrupt her.
"Y/N has a boyfriend, Y/N has a boyfriend," Tuk sang on. The situation was getting more and more uncomfortable for the two who were still together on the mat. "Can you guys stop now? No one here has any boyfriends or girlfriends, you skxawng"
The loud chatter of the children attracted not only the attention of the passing Metkayina but also Neytiri, who was just entering the pod through the entrance. She was about to ask why they were so loud, but her eyes fell on the floor where Y/N and Neteyam were lying.
Her expression immediately changed from worried to upset when she saw the human girl in her son's arms. She would have rather pulled Y/N away from him immediately, but she tried to stay calm so that her other children wouldn't notice her rage. She would certainly talk to Jake about it later. "Get up now. You've got a lot to do today!" she hissed and left the room again with big steps.
Tuk was worried about her mother and asked, "Why is mom so mad?"
Kiri and Lo'ak knew exactly why she was so angry, it was no secret that Neytiri didn't like Y/N and would preferably drop her off somewhere. Kiri squatted down on eye level with Tuktirey and put her hand on her head. "You know mom doesn't like it when we are so loud. Now that we are new here, we have to behave and that's probably what made her so angry."
Kiri just couldn't tell her little sister that her mother didn't like Y/N because she was one of the Sky People. She knew very well that for Tuk Y/N was like a big sister.
In the meantime, Nete and Y/N picked themselves up, embarrassed by the whole situation. When Lo'ak tried one more time to take a little snapshot of the two "lovebirds", Nete ripped the camera out of his little brother's hand. "Can you please leave us alone now? Mom is already angry enough, you don't have to provoke me now either."
Neteyam had no problem that photos of Y/N and him existed, on the contrary, he would later steal the camera again later to see what photos his siblings had taken of them. And his heart was already starting to swell just thinking about the fact that he would see Y/N so close to him.
For the rest of the day Tsireya picked up the Sully's and Y/N from their marui to go with them to the water. There they practiced for the next step for diving - the right breathing, to be able to be underwater for a longer time. Ao'nung, the son of Tonowari had avoided his duty today to rather do something with his friends and had asked another close friend of the family if he could do the work for him. This boy was called Rotxo. He was relatively neutral and friendly towards the Omatikaya and also Y/N. He had probably gotten a telling off from Tsireya beforehand that he shouldn't tease or exclude her just because she was human. Because secretly Tsireya wanted to know more about Y/N. It was the first time she saw a human who was not as evil as the others. To her, Y/N radiated a harmonious and respectful aura towards the people of her clan and maybe she would learn something new from her too. After all, she thought, there must be a reason why Toruk Makto and his family trust this human.
By afternoon, they had already learned the basics and Tsireya, along with Rotxo, said goodbye to the newcomers.
Kiri, who was slightly confused by Rotxo's advances, asked Y/N if she would like to walk with her a bit more on the beach.
"Did you see the way he looked at me? That was almost creepy, like I had something sticking in my face," Kiri said as she kicked small rocks and shells through the sand with her foot. "Kiri, I think he was just trying to be nice and didn't know how. Maybe he likes you," Y/N grinned as she nudged her taller friend in the ribs.
"Oh come on. He was probably just trying to make fun of me like the others"
"Don't always see everything so negatively Kiri. There are surely people here who like you"
They walked along the coast for a while until they came to a stop and decided to look around a bit. After all, everything was still new for the two of them. The young Na'vi woman made her way to the water to observe the small fish and sea plants, while Y/N decided to go in search of pretty shells in the sand - which would certainly look good in her collection.
Their silence and exploration didn't last for long, however, and they were interrupted by Aonung and his friends. "What is she doing? She's just looking at the sand," Aonung laughed as they saw Kiri's figure floating in the water.
Kiri heard at first only a distorted voice, which she couldn't place. She thought it might be Y/N, which is why she came out of the water with a confused smile. "What? What did you say?" she asked slowly. But when she could open her eyes properly, she was only met by Aonung and his friends gazes.
"Are you some kind of ... freak?", his friend teased as the others laughed at his statement.
Y/N, who was crouching behind a bush the whole time because she found small glittering stones there, had to watch her friend being teased again. But it became too much for the human girl when she heard them calling Kiri a "freak", so she darted out from behind the bush and began scolding Aonung. "Leave her alone. She's not a freak!" Y/N walked in a straight line towards Kiri and grabbed her arm.
"Oh the Sully's pet has something to say too," he said in a feigned anxious tone before he started laughing maliciously and then turned to his group of friends. "Watch what you say or she'll bite you. Who knows what kind of diseases she's carrying around."
"What did you just call me?", Y/N hissed, clearly angered by his comment.
He moved closer to the two girls and grabbed Kiri's hand. "These are definitely the hands of a freak" He tried to provoke them further and Y/N was fed up. She didn't care if he was three feet taller than her. Or that he called her a pet but she couldn't let some stranger touch her best friend without consent just like that and hit his hand with all her strength.
Just as he was about to turn to Y/N and shove her back, an annoyed voice sounded from the background. "Hey! Back off fish lips!" It was Lo'ak, walking towards them with rapid steps, a snarl already forming on his face.
"Oh another five fingered freak," Tonowari's son simpered, looking pleased with himself.
"Look at his little baby tail," pointed another moron of the group out while pulling on Lo'ak's tail, which caused laughter among them.
"Leave us alone!", Kiri pleaded, while holding Y/N close to her body as they continued to gang up against Lo'ak. Before the situation seemed to escalate, Neteyam came at them out of nowhere. He pushed Aonung away from Lo'ak and said, "You heard what she said. Leave them alone" Aonung's friends still didn't seem to have enough and now tried to tease Neteyam as well.
"Aww, big brother com-" Aonung interrupted with a hand on his chest.
Nete raised his finger and stuck it right in his peers face. "Back off. Now," he warned and Aonung lifted his hands in mock surrender. "Good choice. And from now on, I need you to respect my sister and Y/N"
Clearly unhappy with Aonung getting an outburst from a "freak," he continued to provoke.
"You mean your pet?" and looked over his shoulder at Y/N.
"She is not a pet," he gritted his teeth. He became even angrier than before, now that Y/N was dragged into it. "She's with us. She's our friend. And has more decency than you" It was not Nete's way to pick on others but when it came to the things that belonged to him, he had no filter. One of Aonung's skxawng friends hissed at Neteyam, but before it went any further, the chief's son raised his hand to signal him to stop. The Metkayina boys looked at Y/N to see if she had anything to say about it too, but she just stuck her tongue out at them like a little child.
Neteyam pulled Y/N and his sister out of the crowd and ordered, "Come on, let's go."
As they were on their way to leave the scene, Aonung's voice rang out one last time.
"All freaks, the whole family"
Before anyone could respond, Lo'ak turned and walked back to them.
"I know this hand is funny," he said in a low voice, flexing his hand in front of his body to demonstrate. "Look, I'm a freak. Alien. But I can do something really cool" Y/N already knew what was coming now and couldn't help a little smirk while Kiri could only roll her eyes. Neteyam was very disappointed in his younger brother that he could not tell that he knew better.
"Watch," the Metkayina boys and Aonung were enthralled with his hand while he explained, "first I ball it up real tight, like this, then-" and then with the speed of an Ikran he punched Aonung right in the face and not just once.
"It's called a punch, bitch!", Lo'ak exclaimed pointing an accusing finger at Aonung. "Never touch my sister again. And don't you dare to call Y/N our pet.“
Aonung quickly stood back up and tackled Lo'ak to the ground in the sand. The two wrestled back and forth before Lo'ak punched him in the face again. Only now did the other friends realize what was happening and intervened. One of them grabbed Lo'ak's tail and tried to get him off of Aonung. Y/N was stunned that it would come to a fight so quickly, after all they had only been here a day. Neteyam let out a sigh and then braced himself to join the fight to save his little brother.
"Guys. Stop it," Kiri groaned. "Now it's getting embarrassing," Y/N joined in as someone yelled "Ow my tail!" and then someone responded with, "Ow, my ear!"
The fight was considered over when the Metkayina boys and the son of Olo'eyktan stopped struggling and Neteyam and Lo'ak sat beside them in the sand, out of breath. Once everyone had their breath back, the Metkayina quickly disappeared back to the village and the Sully's and Y/N stood alone on the beach.
"Dad is so going to kick your asses," Kiri said with a laugh when she saw her injured brothers. She could barely contain herself as Lo'ak complained that his tail and head hurt.
Y/N, on the other hand, was very concerned about Neteyam's well-being. He had taken a few good hits and his lower lip had split open.
She rushed to his side and took his head with both hands to examine it better. "Your lip, Nete"
"It's all good Y/N. Let's go home now, please. Dad probably already knows", he dismissed her concern.
Neteyam already knew what he was in for, but he hoped to appease his father by telling him what they had done with Kiri and Y/N.
The walk home was in complete silence. Nete led the way, then Lo'ak followed, and last were Kiri and Y/N.
At home they were already expected in the marui by Jake. Aonung had told his father, who in turn told Jake. All of them had to stand in a row in front of him, but his gaze remained focused on his two sons. "What do you guys think you're doing? Huh? Again? You've got to be kidding me," Jake began. "That you guys are just beating the crap out of them. Tonowari told me everything. You will apologize to his son and his friends. Is that clear?"
"Yes dad" "Yes sir" the two replied at the same time.
"Dad, they started it though, they pissed off Kiri and Y/N" Lo'ak defended himself.
"Language! And that's no reason to just bash them".
"Lo'ak is right though. They called Kiri a 'freak' and called Y/N 'our pet'" Neteyam said irately.
Jake just shook his head and didn't give Neteyam a chance to explain it further. Thus, his plan did not work.
"I'm sorry about what happened to you two, but we're just tolerated here and we have to behave ourselves here. Now go apologize, but properly," Jake ordered.
Kiri just looked at the ground while Y/N watched the two boys and their father discussing. This time, it wasn't just Lo'ak who was upset that they were being scolded again, but Neteyam as well. He was still seething inside that his father didn't want to understand that they were just defending their family. He rolled his eyes in frustration as his father continued and licked his bloody lip, visibly annoyed.
As the discussion seemed to come to an end, he sent his boys off to apologize. Lo'ak had already gone ahead, and as his oldest son was about to leave the pod, he stopped him again. "How do the others look?" asked Jake, "Worse. A lot worse," Neteyam answered, knowing his dad was kind of proud of them but wasn't showing it to the outside. "Good. That's good," the former Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya said, pressing his lips into a thin line. Neteyam smiled briefly before turning to follow his brother.
Even though Y/N was a bit uncomfortable with the whole situation with all the fighting, which could have been solved more diplomatically, she was still glad that Lo'ak and Neteyam had intervened. Especially that Nete, her Nete, intervened to defend her. Her stomach started to tingle when she remembered the moments of just now. How strong he actually was and how brave he just went into the fight without a second thought, because the reputation of his family was more important to him than the consequences. That she was more important to him than the consequences that would await him. Her face turned rosy and her head as well as body seemed to switch to autopilot. Without thinking, she ran out of the marui to catch up with Neteyam, and Jake and Kiri just looked at the human in confusion as to why she would suddenly start running after them.
She spotted him at the end of the woven paths and called his name. "Nete, wait!" He stopped and turned to face her. Without further speaking, she ran up to him and pulled him down by his arm to eye level with her.
She didn't know herself what her body was doing right now and was just as baffled as the young Na'vi man in front of her. Her emotions were taking over, though there was no trigger for her to think of, but Y/N then stood on her tiptoes, pursed her lips, and then pressed them to his cheek. It was just a little kiss on the cheek, but Neteyam thought his whole body was about to explode. His pupils got bigger and he just stared at her. Y/N smiled and just said, "Thank you for standing up for me" Then she let go of his arm and gave him a little nudge to go to his brother now so they could apologize together. Y/N walked back again, but Neteyam remained rooted to the spot. Did that really just happen? Or was it just a dream? Or maybe he was lying unconscious on the beach because he was knocked out by a blow. Slowly, he raised his right hand and placed it on the spot where Y/N's lips touched him just seconds ago. Now he was sure, the next moment he would spend alone with Y/N will be the moment when he will tell her about his feelings.
Lo'ak went back, noticing that his brother didn't follow him and saw him standing alone on the path without moving. "Tell me, is everything alright with you? Did you get hit too hard?" he teasingly asked his brother, grabbing him by the shoulder. "Let's go," was the only thing Neteyam could say now, though, and he pushed his little brother aside - so much that he almost fell into the water. He was probably the happiest Na'vi in all of Pandora at that very moment. Y/N had kissed him on the cheek and he would never forget it.

Neteyam was already waiting with his family at the High Camp for Y/N's return, who also appeared a few minutes later with her bag. He smiled at her and took her things from her to put them on his Ikran.
He then took her by the hand and helped her onto the Ikran. He sat down behind her and asked if everything was okay and if she was sitting properly. After everyone was ready the Sully family plus Y/N set off for a long journey to a new place.
It was a very long flight and sometimes Y/N couldn't help but nod off slightly. At one point she tipped forward for a brief moment until she quickly woke up and sat up straight again. Nete startled for a brief moment when he saw Y/N tilt forward and quickly reached around her waist with his big arms to pull her tightly against him. Y/N became a little flustered by his gesture and tried to distract herself by looking into the far distance in front of her.
But the distraction didn't last long, as Neteyam continued to make sure she didn't slip off his Ikran due to the headwind and protectively placed his hand on her thigh. Y/N turned her gaze to her right leg, where his warm hand rested, and placed hers over his.
She looked over her shoulder and saw Neteyam looking at her with his big amber eyes. She smiled briefly and then nestled her back against his torso.
The view was stunning. She and the Sully children were amazed as the forest - which was their home - grew thinner and thinner, slowly revealing different new terrains. They made several stops in between so the Ikrans wouldn't be too exhausted and they could grab a snack.
During a night flight it suddenly became very fresh and Y/N started to shiver from the cold of the wind. Neteyam also saw goosebumps forming on her again and remembered that one night in the clearing she had mentioned that people would get goosebumps when they were cold. Unconscious to Y/N, Nete took his poncho and tucked the large head hole over her body so she could get some of its warmth and the harsh wind wouldn't bother her further. Y/N, who was half asleep, didn't even notice what was happening, she just grabbed the fabric with her hands and pulled it closer to her to snuggle into it.
The journey was not easy for all of them, they had to endure a variety of weather conditions the closer they got to the open sea, but after a total of three days the family finally arrived in Awa'atlu.
The closer they got to the village, the more Metkayina became aware of them. A shell horn was heard in the distance to announce the arrival of the strangers, and the inhabitants came closer to the shore with their boats and their sea creatures, as they wanted to examine the family more closely.
As the Sully's circled the village to find the perfect landing spot, a cluster of Na'vi formed around them. Some with a confused look on their faces, others with tense expressions as they could not gauge what they would want from them. After landing, all the family members got off their Ikrans and Neteyam helped Y/N get down as well, putting both hands under her armpits and carrying her down in one motion.
He stayed close to her, not knowing himself how the Metkayina would react to a single human. Even though Y/N would not be a danger on her own, he knew that most of the clans of Pandora were not very fond of humans.
Jake led the family closer to the Metkayina and asked his wife Neytiri to leave her bow with her Ikran for safety. He raised his hands upward and Nete followed with the same gesture to show them that they would come in peace.
Y/N saw the other Na'vi for the first time from a close distance and saw that they looked very different from her Omatikaya friends. Instead of a rich blue, they were turquoise in color and their markings looked different as well. In addition, some had dark tattoos in different patterns adorning their faces and bodies. They had wider forearms and narrower but muscular shoulders and their tails were also wider, without a fluffy tip, they looked more like a tail fin. It wasn’t hard to miss that these were reef Na'vi that had adapted to their environment over the centuries.
As they now stood in the middle surrounded by the different looking Na'vi, two boys, probably the same age as Neteyam and Lo'ak came out of the crowd to survey them. Since Jake had said earlier that they should be nice to them, the two Sully boys greeted the others in a formal manner. They took their half-closed hands to their foreheads and then moved them in a downward arc away from their bodies. The other two boys just laughed at their gesture and started making fun of the family's appearance. They pointed their fingers at their tails and said, "Look at their tails, so tiny!"
Nete bent his head down and looked at the white sand, while Lo'ak rolled his eyes in annoyance. But then the two Metkayina noticed Y/N next to Neteyam. Their facial expressions changed from now on when they saw the human girl and both contorted their faces, visibly upset by her presence.
Y/N also formally greeted them with the hand gesture, but they only made fun of her attempt and snickered into their hands. They stared at her more closely and began to circle her.
Nete's gaze shot to the side, watching them how they treated his friend. He couldn't do much about it either though, he didn't want to upset his father again right away. But when the Metkayina boys took a strand of Y/N's hair in their hand, pulled on it, and Y/N let out a pained groan, Neteyam grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the action, away from the curious grabbers.
But now that Y/N was standing in the middle of the commotion, all the onlookers took notice of her too. There were shouts, who called her a "demon" or even hissing could be heard. Y/N became nervous and more anxious. She wondered if it was really the right decision to come along. Her eyes turned from person to person and she quickly realized that she was not welcomed. The two boys started fooling around again. "How are they supposed to swim?" "What are they doing with a demon here? I didn't know they were so ugly from up close!" A young woman who had just come out of the water quickly walked between them and slapped their hands away when they wouldn't stop pointing their fingers at her. She too looked at Y/N, but with a different look. She seemed curious and not repulsed by her.
Only moments later, the Olo'eyktan of the clan also approached them on a huge flying fish with a spear in his hand and his mate close on his heels. The whole family greeted the leader together this time and his wife came closer.
"I see you, Ronal" Jake greeted her one more time. She did not return this, however, and Tonowari began to speak. "Why do you come to us?" His gaze now drifted to the human Y/N, "And why did you bring one of the Sky People with you?" Jake ignored the last question for now and replied with, "We seek uturu," gesturing with raised arms at his family standing behind him.
Tonowari looked at the family with a pitiful look. "We are reef people, you are forest people" Ronal, the Tsahík walked with slow steps around the Sully's and looked closely at each one. She grabbed Neytiri's tail, which the Omatikaya woman did not like at all. She then appraised Tuk and took her arm. "Their arms are thin" Tuk then quickly withdrew her arm and clung to her mother's leg. "Their tails are weak. They will be slow in the water"
She then stood directly in front of Kiri and took both of her hands in hers. "These children have five fingers. They are no real Na'vi!"
Kiri was visibly irritated by her remark and angrily replied, "Yes we are!" Ronal continued to walk through the Sully family and held up Lo'ak's hand. "The have demon blood," Ronal exclaimed and gasping could be heard. Jake tried to de-escalate the situation and showed her his hand, which was also adorned by five fingers. Neytiri interfered and mentioned Jake's title. "My husband was Toruk Makto" This didn't help either because Ronal now spotted Y/N who was still standing anxiously next to Neteyam. She didn't look Y/N in the eye and only gave her a snarl "Why did you bring her?" No one really knew how to answer, but Jake finally took the initiative. "This is Y/N, she is a family member of ours. She doesn't have parents anymore and we take care of her"
"We can't grant her uturu. She is not a Na'vi. It seems that Eywa has turned her back to you" Ronal replied and turned to Jake "Please let her stay here with us. She poses no danger and she can be useful. She quickly learned the ways of the Omatikaya and was also well tolerated by them" The Tsahík just shook her head "She could lure more humans here and betray us" Jake tried one more time. "Without her my children wouldn't be alive Ronal, Tonowari. She betrayed and killed her own people to save them. She also saved my wife's life" During the last sentence he nudged his mate Neytiri so she could confirm his statement. She didn't really want to acknowledge that Y/N had saved her life in the forest, since after years she still only tolerated her and didn't accept her in the family as her husband did. With a long sigh she said: "Yes, the human child saved my life. She had shot a soldier with her bow, who otherwise would have discovered me." Her children were quite surprised, since they were never told what had happened before their rescue in the forest.
Jake pleaded. "Please let us stay here. We and Y/N can help you and will quickly learn your ways. You won't even realize that we are forest people or humans."
The atmosphere changed as Ronal now faced Neytiri. You could almost cut the air with a knife. They maintained intense eye contact as Ronal wanted to know if she was speaking the truth. Neytiri continued to look into Ronal's bright blue eyes and began to hiss. Showing her fangs, the Tsahìk didn't put up with it either and hissed back. Jake once again intervened and apologized for Neytiri's behavior. Y/N also sensed the tense mood and desperately searched for Neteyam's hand with her own without taking her eyes off of what was happening. "Do not apologize for me," Neytiri said, perplexed by her mate's statement. "The journey was long and she is exhausted" He tried everything to smooth the waters. Tonowari, who like Jake didn't want a fight between the women, now spoke to his clan "Toruk Makto is a great war leader, but we are not at war. If he says that the human is loyal to them, then it will be so"
"I just wanna keep everyone safe. Please.", pleaded Jake once more.
The clan leader and the Tsahík discussed in silence. Tonowari showed his wife with his eyes that Jake was speaking the truth and they had to help them.
She was still not convinced - she trusted her husband, but humans couldn't be trusted after the last war. In the end, however, she gave in to her mate and it was decided.
The Sully's and Y/N would be allowed to stay. "It has been decided. Toruk Makto, his family and their human will stay with us. Treat them as our own. They will be like babies taking their first breath" Jake and the family were more than relieved that they were allowed to stay after all. Y/N was also happy for the family and for herself that they showed faith in her and she would do anything not to disappoint them. She looked up at her friend Nete and gave him a bright smile. "We did it, Nete" she said. And he, too, was happy that he could still continue to spend his time with her.
Tonowari once again admonished Jake, "Don't be useless."
He nodded his head that he understood his words and thanked him one more time. "What do we say?" he asked Tuk, who was now standing next to him. "Thank you"
"My daughter Tsireya and my son Aonung will show your children and the human what to do", added the Olo'eyktan.
The boy who had earlier made fun of the Omatikaya's appearance turned out to be the chief's son and he replied to his father in horror, obviously not satisfied with the situation of having to help them, "Father why do I have to-" He interrupted his son before he could continue. "It has been decided!" and pointed his finger in his face. The girl defending them earlier and looking curiously at Y/N was Tsireya his daughter, making her way to the Sully children and Y/N to show them where they would live now. "Come with me!" she said in a friendly bright voice and everyone started to follow her.
Tsireya led the group to an empty marui where the family was allowed to live for the foreseeable future. The village of the Metkayina was realtively large and between the trees were the various marui of the inhabitants, which were laboriously woven around the century-old roots of the mangroves. They were beautifully interwoven with different patterns that resembled those of the Omatikaya in a way. The paths that connected the village were also woven and braided and gave in a little with each step, so it was easy to hop on them. Tuk quickly found this out as well and jumped after her family full of anticipation. Y/N also hopped along the path a few times before quickly running after the other Na'vi so she wouldn't lose them.
Y/N looked into the water that was visible underneath the path and saw all sorts of colorful coral and small glittering fish unbothered swimming around in swarms. She was amazed. She knew the lakes and rivers of the rainforest, but this was even more beautiful.
A short time later they arrived at their new home and Tsireya welcomed them once more and said that they should rest a little. Tomorrow would be the first day for their training. The proper breathing technique.
Jake was the first to enter the marui and said: "This looks good. You can make a home here" and put both of his hands on his hips and turned to his family.
Neytiri was still not convinced by the whole thing, especially with the encounter with Ronal earlier. She dropped the rug she was carrying the whole time with a groan and sat down. The Sully children and Y/N began to make themselves at home, arguing among themselves about who would sleep where. Tuk also fought fiercely to get a place between Neteyam and Y/N, but as she sat down on her bed, she realized what it would mean to live here, to have to find new friends, and that she would have to learn everything all over again. She slowly began to get home sick and tears began to gather in her eyes. The others were busy with themselves at first and Y/N was the first to notice the soft whimpering from the corner. When she realized it was Tuktirey, she immediately ran to her side and started comforting her. "I want to go home," she cried into Y/N's shoulder. It took some time until she calmed down and her mother explained to her again why they are here now. And in doing so, she promised her that when calm returned, they would visit their grandmother. After the small incident they continued to sort their things and when they were finished, Jake came to the decision that tonight there shouldn't happen much more except dinner, since the last flight was very exhausting for all of them.
They were still eating together as a family alone this evening before they would integrate and eat together with the Metkayina over the next few days. When the meal was over, everyone was kind of busy with themselves. Lo'ak wanted to be alone, Kiri didn't really feel like socializing either since the first encounter with the residents and her didn't really go well, Tuk had already fallen asleep and Jake was trying to cheer up his mate without any success.
Since Y/N wasn't ready to go to sleep yet, she wanted to go to Neteyam, but when she looked up from her tablet, she noticed that he wasn't with the others at all. She poked her head out of the entrance to the hut, but didn't see him anywhere there either. "Does anyone know where Nete is? I'll go look for him," Y/N said anxiously. Lo'ak was the only one who noticed her and answered only with a bored `mmh`.
She went in search of him and first looked at the woven paths to see if he might have gone there. However, he wasn't to be found there either. Shortly before she decided to give up her search she looked into the horizon at the water. Her gaze then slid to a moving figure sitting on the beach. She had to really squint her eyes to be able to place the person, but when she noticed that this person had a dark blue skin color, she knew that it was not a Metkayina, but Neteyam. Y/N took a quick look at how to get to him and then started jogging.
On the beach Neteyam sat alone and watched the sea and the sky with its many stars and planets. He needed to find a clear thought and since everyone was busy with themselves anyway, he finally decided to take a walk and then got stuck at the beach. He hadn't really expected visitors, but when Y/N sat down next to him, he wasn't really surprised. No matter where he would go or hide, Y/N always found him everywhere.
"What are you doing here?" she asked as she made herself comfortable next to him.
"I need to clear my head. A lot has happened in the last few days, you know."
"Do you want to talk about it" Nete just shrugged in response.
"Just let me know when you're ready. Okay?" He looked over at her for a moment, nodded his head, and then turned back to the water. There was silence between the two for some time until `Teyam decided to tell her what was on his mind after all.
"Everything just feels pointless now, Y/N."
"What do you mean?" she replied to him with furrowed eyebrows.
"Well everything. At least my life," Neteyam had a queasy feeling in his stomach as he continued, "I'd rather be home right now, fighting to make sure we all have a safe home. But on the other hand, you guys are most important to me and letting you go away alone wouldn't have been an option for me either."
"Oh Nete, I think we would all rather be home now. I wish I could be with Norm right now too, or at least have Spider with me. But this, right now, is just the best solution for everyone."
"I understand that, too. But the thing that bothers me the most is that Dad had to give up his title and I've been trying to follow in his footsteps all this time for nothing. All the training I had to go through for nothing. I will never become the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya."
Y/N already understood what he was getting at.
"I was always judged more strictly than the others. I always gave more than one could for everything, because it was simply expected of me and to make Dad proud. And now, now we're sitting with another clan where we're treated like babies and are at the very bottom of the ladder. It all just seems so pointless to me."
The young human woman tried to be understanding and helped him understand that it wasn't all useless.
"There may be a different Olo'eyktan now, but you were prepared for life differently than the other warriors. Through your father, you have gained more knowledge than the others and may even be ahead of them in some things. Maybe without all that training you wouldn't be the way you are now. Maybe you would have become like Lo'ak and one of his kind is already enough in the family. Someone has to have all the brain cells with them," she tried to make him understand, nudging him with her body. "Even if you don't lead a clan, I know you'll be a great family leader. The way you're already taking care of Tuk and the others, you might just become the Olo'eyktan of your own family."
There was a quiet between the two of them and they continued to look at the night sky together. Neteyam thought about what she had told him, she was somehow right, but it still bothered him. He also thought about what she said last, that he will be a great father and a great family leader. He began to wonder if Y/N and he would have a future together that involved children. Would such a thing even work? A human and a Na'vi. Eywa would surely have an answer and maybe he would just have to wait to find out. Even if not, he would still be happy with her.
The silence was broken by Y/N as she started talking about the 'what ifs'.
"You know sometimes I think about what my life would have been like if my birth parents were still here," she spoke with her head pointed at the water. "What would have happened if my father hadn't died in the war? What would have happened if my mother hadn't left me behind when she returned to Earth? I wonder if she's happy now. I wonder if she thinks about me, or if she already has another family now and I've been forgotten?" she continued, looking in the direction where Earth would be. "That's the kind of thing that keeps me up at night. You're not alone with so many thoughts"
"I didn't realize you were so troubled by it. Of course it's your family, but you never talk to me about it. You can always talk to me about such things, I hope you know that," Neteyam said in a calm voice.
"I know Nete, I can talk to you about anything. I've kind of come to terms with the way things are now. But sometimes the idea does pop into my head. But I'll put it this way, if my parents were still here now, I might never have met Norm, Max or Mary. Spider wouldn't be like a brother to me now and I probably never would have met you guys either. I might never have met you."
Neteyam smiled at her statement and thought to himself that she probably did like him more than she wanted to admit.
"No matter how my life would have turned out or how much I wish my real family back, I would never trade my current life for it if it meant I couldn't spend any more time with you and your siblings"
No matter how life would still go, it was probably fate or Eywa herself that the lives of both are like this now. One would only have to make the best of it. No matter what was to come, Y/N promised him that she would always stand by his side if he ever got stuck.
Thereupon she grabbed his hand that was lying in the sand next to her body and squeezed his four fingers tightly to strengthen her promise once again. Nete was sure now would be the best moment to tell her about his feelings towards her. "You know Y/N you really mean a lot to me and I have a feeling that-" he began but then a call came from the background in her direction. It was Lo'ak, who in the meantime had started to worry about where his brother and Y/N could have gone. "Y/N! Have you found Neteyam yet? If so you should come home! It's getting late!"
"Yes I found him! Just a minute!" she called back and she turned back to Nete. "Sorry, what were you about to say?" she asked him, but the mood was now already disturbed another time by a family member and he decided again to tell Y/N another time. "Oh, wasn't that important. Let's go home."
Y/N was actually already curious about what he had to say to her, but she just shoulder shrugged and mumbled a small 'okay' before they headed off to her marui.

Jake and Neytiri saw red when their children stopped responding after Jake told them to stay where they were and to keep hiding until they came to rescue.
Y/N arrived at the high camp at the same moment. She was supposed to join them today, but she had some things to do in the lab, so she decided to meet them at a later time.
When she got there she had to watch the two parents running tensely from one spot to the other. "Hey did something happen?" she asked cautiously. Jake sighed and rubbed his hands over his face. "They got the kids"
"Who's 'they'?"
Neytiri answered her question. "The Sky People, your People have my children!"
"The children were out and saw soldiers. It must be the RDA. They don't answer anymore. So we assume they are holding them captive," Jake tried to translate his wife's words for Y/N. "We don't have time now, we have to go find them. You stay here!" Jake was about to leave but then Y/N responded "I'm coming with you!"
"No, you're not coming. You're just another risk. We're not watching out for you too!" Neytiri growled at her. It was obvious she didn't want Y/N there, but Y/N was getting stubborn. "I'm coming with you even if it's the last thing I do! Neteyam saved my life and now I'm saving his! Besides, they have my brother!" she said in the same voice to the tall Na'vi woman. Jake, however, allowed himself to be beaten broadly but only on the condition that she would stay in the background. All those years of training would finally pay off, even if she was afraid. These people were family to her in a way and she just had to help. Especially when Tuk, the poor little girl was there. She didn't deserve to go through something like that, she was the most innocent of them all. "But hurry up, we are leaving now," Jake said and gave her the coordinates for her navigation device so they could meet there.
But since she was too slow as a human and didn't have long legs like the 8 foot tall Na'vi, she decided to go with a somewhat unusual idea. But something inside her said it would work.
She set out for the family's Ikrans and searched for Neteyams there. It would be the only chance to get to them fast enough to be able to help them. Y/N searched for a brief moment until she found the animal with the matching pattern. She hoped it would recognize and not attack her. Slowly crouching, she walked up to it. "Shh, I'm not going to hurt you. It's alright" She didn't make eye contact at first and raised her hand slightly to show the animal that she wasn't a threat. The Ikran made a sound and turned its head to the side to get a better look at the human girl. It smelled her hand and recognized her by the scent that she belonged to its flier Neteyam. When Y/N was also sure that Netes Ikran recognized her, she stood up and touched the animal on its head. The Ikran nuzzled her hand and she began to speak one more time, hoping that the Ikran would understand her in some way.
"Neteyam is in danger. I need your help."
The animal didn't seem to understand her in her opinion, so she pulled her hand away and was a little disappointed. What had she been thinking? That it would just understand her? After all, there was a certain reason why the Na'vi formed a bond with these animals. She turned away and the animal made another sound. Y/N turned and watched as Neteyam's Ikran bowed to her and visibly made itself smaller. It showed her that she was allowed to mount.
Even though it was unusual to sit alone on an Ikran and the communication was not smooth either, she was able to find the location quickly and already saw Jake and Neytiri on the spot.
They were surprised for a moment how she had managed to get here with an Ikran, but there was not much time for that, because their children were still in danger.
They planned how best to approach the group without being detected and Y/N took her bow from her back. They decided on an ambush and Neytiri again made it clear to Y/N that she was just another liability and that she should rather stay in the background. She respected her opinion and ran after her with distance. They crept through the bushes together and listened to see if they heard any noise coming from any direction. Neytiri pressed herself against a tree, she was barely visible through the darkness, only her bright shining freckles betrayed where she was. After less time she found her children taken hostage and the Recom soldiers. She yipped to show the soldiers that they were not alone and to distract them so that Jake would have a chance to get closer. But what Neytiri and Y/N didn't know was that there were more of the Recoms roaming the forest. As Neytiri continued to watch, already drawing her bow in the direction of the group, a soldier approached from behind with his weapon drawn close to them. Y/N noticed what was happening and quietly stepped out of the bushes, took an arrow from her quiver and drew her bow. She took a few steps closer and tried not to breathe to give away her position. When she had a clear view of the target, she exhaled, releasing the arrow. The arrow shot forward with speed and hit the soldier right in the neck. Only the dull thud could be heard as the lifeless body touched the ground.
Neytiri turned around startled, thinking she had been spotted, but she only saw Y/N with a concentrated expression on her face, taking down her bow. Neytiri just looked at her with her big eyes and quickly looked at the floor where the dead soldier was lying. Without making any further comment or thanking her, Neytiri signaled Y/N with her head to go in the other direction.
Y/N continued to sneak through the bushes and hid behind a thick branch. From a distance, another Yipp could be heard and she saw the other Recom soldiers turn to look where the sound was coming from. The children's ears pricked up as well when they recognized their mother's voice. Tuk smiled and whispered a soft "Mom." Quaritch just said, "Sounds like we got a visit from Mrs. Sully." The other soldiers got ready for an attack and raised their weapons in the direction of the bushes.
Because of her size, Y/N had trouble keeping track of the situation, so she decided to climb to a higher level. From there she had to watch how brutally they held their friends and pointed weapons at them. She also saw Jake hiding on the other side, waiting for the right moment. They kept eye contact as he spotted her and Y/N waited for a sign from him and she cocked her bow for good measure. Neytiri moved closer and when they thought it was the best moment Jake gave his signal and an attack was made. From two sides came bow shots, each time hitting a different Recom soldier, and Jake came out of the bushes and grabbed another soldier from behind, taking him out with his knife.
Shots were now falling from the remaining Recoms, who were getting ready to flee. They shooed the children up and yanked them along by their handcuffs. Neytriri, Y/N and Jake continued to chase them through the forest. Y/N who had climbed a tree earlier, jumped from branch to branch and past the vines without thinking about where her foot would land next. She just had to keep up. After a while, Quaritch and his group figured they had gotten away from them. Y/N also stopped and continued to spy on them. To send a signal that they had more power, the soldiers wanted to get their hands on the children and headed for Neteyam with knives drawn. That's when Y/N saw red, too. She jumped down from her tree right onto the soldier's back. She put her arm around his neck and thus put him in a headlock, Y/N so could not finish the fight, she grabbed her knife at her right hip and stabbed with it several times until he finally slumped down in himself. She had let out all her rage and hadn't even noticed that Jake and Neytiri had finally driven Quaritch's 1st Recom squad away.
Y/N tried to pull herself together and push the dead soldier off her body and stood up. Breathing heavily, she now stood there in the middle of the battlefield watching the Sully children run to their parents. However, Neteyam was still sitting in the same spot. He was in awe as he watched her take out a "Na'vi" with simple means as a human. The way she was standing there, breathing heavily, the knife still in her hand and with few blood blasts on her body. She was still wearing her Na'vi clothes, which she kept from the evening of the festivities. And Nete could not believe his eyes, his Y/N, the human who turned his head, looked like a true Omatikaya warrior in the blue light and in her outfit. And she had saved his life. If only he could, he would only fall more in love with her.
Y/N looked around the area and Neteyam caught her eye. "Nete!" she cried out and ran to him. Still sitting, he took her in his arms and pressed his forehead to hers. "By Eywa, you're okay. I thought they were taking you away from me," she replied and tears began to form in her eyes. Her body relaxed from his warmth and slumped together against `Teyam's body. She was under tension the whole time and now she could relax for the first time in what felt like hours.
"You saved me" was the only thing Nete could manage to say. He just couldn't believe it. After days of staying out of their way, she still came to save him. "Of course I saved you. You're like family to me."
"You didn't have to put yourself in danger because of me" Even though he liked the sight of her in that situation, he knew what kind of danger she had put herself in as a human just to save him.
"It's called returning the favor, `Teyam. You saved my life too," she whispered in his ear. He thanked her and looked deep into her eyes. A tear now ran down his face too. He couldn't thank her enough for protecting him. He only then realized again how important he seemed to be to her.
A touch on Y/N's shoulder pulled them both out of their moment. It was Kiri. Y/N stood up as well as Neteyam, who walked in the direction of his father and mother to embrace them. "Thank you Y/N," Kiri expressed her gratitude as well, taking her into a smothering hug. Tuk then came running up and hugged them both as well. "You are a real heroine", she gushed.
As the tensions eased, the family finally decided to leave, but Y/N was missing a certain face among all the commotion. "Where is Spider?" she asked. But when no one answered her immediately, she called out his name. She became more nervous and desperate. He was here a moment ago, after all.
"They took him," Lo'ak said in a hushed voice, sad that his human friend had been kidnapped. "No, no, it can't be!" She wanted to run after and try to get him back, but Jake stopped her. "I think it's too late. They're already way too far, we can't catch up to them."
"But he's my brother, Jake! I can't leave him behind"
"I know, I know" he tried to comfort her and put his hand paternally on her head to pull her close. "We'll get him back, right?" Nothing came from Jake, who just stared at the floor with a look that wasn't clearly defined. He wasn't sure of himself if it would work out to get him back, but he couldn't let Y/N go home without hope in such a condition either, that's why he said, "Yes we'll get Spider back home. We'll get him back."
In a partially dejected and sad mood, Y/N set off with Neteyam to meet his Ikran. He was initially confused as to why his Ikran was here in the first place, since he had come here by foot. Y/N explained to him that the animal had been convinced to lead her to him. But he couldn't believe it and laughed at her. Was it really possible that a human could fly his ikran without connecting it to a queue? After all, she had had no possibility to make tsaheylu with the Ikran? How had the animal allowed it to happen? Or was Y/N bluffing at him? He wasn't sure, but there were still so many secrets on Pandora he hadn't learned about, and who knows what else Eywa could make possible with her power. Perhaps the All Mother sensed that the human girl had a strong heart for this planet and for the land. On the way home, Y/N tried to make it clear to Nete that she was not lying and that it really happened that way and told him about the whole story.
Back at the high camp, Y/N's emotions were just coming up. She had now completely realized that her brother had been taken away from her just like that. She immediately felt his absence as her feet felt the rocky ground. She could barely walk two steps before she collapsed. Her body gave out completely and she fell to her knees. Spider was gone and there was nothing she could do. How was she going to make it without him now? She still had her second family, the Sully's, but he was the only human her age she could talk to. They grew up together in the lab and in the rainforests of Pandora, wreaking havoc together as children and laughing about it while their foster parents reprimanded them. She was the only person on the planet who was allowed to call him by his real name. Miles. He never liked to hear the name, as it reminded him of his father, who was complicit in the whole war. But she looked over it, it meant nothing to her. He was Miles Soccoro and not his father Miles Quaritch. He was her brother, not by blood but by bond and friendship.
She could hardly imagine what the RDA would do to him. They would surely try to get information out of him. He would never betray the Omatikaya, of course, but what if they tortured him? Do bad things to him and then he would say something because of the pain? It was just so bad to think about that, her heart started to ache. Neteyam saw her grab her chest where her heart was and put his arm around her comfortingly. She cried on his shoulder and let out her pain through a croaking cry. The other Sully children also realized that their friend Spider was not coming back anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Jake took his mate aside to their hut to have a talk with her. The situation had finally gotten out of hand and Jake was running out of solutions.
The Olo'eyktan tried to explain to Neytiri that he just didn't know what to do. It was the first time in his life that he really didn't know what to do to protect his loved ones. He was afraid that he would lose his children today and that he had little hope of protecting his clan from the RDA.
"I thought we lost them," he said in a quivering voice. They were both at a loss for words and the discussion between them grew louder and louder and this made the children take notice as well. They crept to the back of the hut and eavesdropped on the couple. Tuk made herself smaller and squatted down on the floor to peek through the small gap at the bottom.
"You're Toruk Makto," Neytiri yelled at him, reinforcing her words by taking Jake's bow in her hand. "The people will die," he replied and continued. "I just can't protect them all anymore. But I can protect this family, that I can do" He emphasized the last words in his deep voice and Neytiri began to cry. She now had to learn from her husband that the only way to protect everyone would be for them to leave their home completely. She had never left the forest for a long time. He tried to comfort her by saying: "Wherever we go, this family is our fortress" The Na'vi woman fell into her mate's arms, she couldn't stand it anymore and she started to sob hard.
Convincing the children was the hardest of all. Like their mother, they had never left home and they could hardly imagine leaving their friends and family behind. But Jake stuck to his words and the family prepared to leave the Omatikaya territory.
What would happen to Y/N was still written in the stars and if Neytiri had her way, Y/N would go back to her humans and then everything would be better for her. But Neteyam was not satisfied with that. He could not leave her alone now. She had just lost her foster brother and now her family was going to leave her? Moreover, he still hadn't told her about his feelings, because he had never found the right time. If he told her now, he could never forgive himself for how much it would hurt her. Besides, he couldn't imagine his life without Y/N. Just like she said before, they are like family and to him, if she felt the same as he did, she was his future mate after all. For Y/N, too, a world collapsed. She understood that it would be the only right thing for the Sully's to do. But the thought without them hurt as much as her loss or her brother. She would still have Norm, Max and the others, but it wasn't the same. She would miss them so much. Still, she had to accept Jake's decision. It would be best for everyone.
Nete came up with an idea how he could convince his father to allow Y/N to come with him after all. After Jake announced the news, he approached his father and said to him, "We have to let Y/N come with us."
"Nete, that would be too dangerous for her. She would be fine here," he spoke to his oldest son, squeezing him tightly with his hands on his shoulders. "And what if she wouldn't be safe here? They've seen her face and what if they come back and recognize her? I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to take her away too like they did with Spider." His father sighed at the realization that in a way his son was right. "I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate either to get information out of her, and she knows where we're going now. They would then also find us and we would be putting a foreign clan in danger."
At the last sentence Jake had to agree with him completely. He had said in front of her that they would flee to the Metkayina clan. She already knew too much now and it would be a bigger risk to leave her here. The Omatikaya and the other people might be able to protect her, but for how long? There was a change in the actual plan now. Y/N would come along, but only for the safety of the clan and his family.
Neytiri could hardly believe her husband's words that he just passed her over again and decided to take the human girl along. "Jake, she will lessen our chances of Uturu with the Metkayina. They trust humans even less than we do. To them, she's just a demon that we would bring into their home." Jake explained to her in response, however, that Y/N might be misused as a source of information about their whereabouts. "I'll be able to explain to them somehow that she's one of us and that she will be allowed to stay too"
"She's not one of us," she hissed, baring her fangs.
"`Tiri don't forget that she helped us to get our children back in safety'"
"We could have done it without her"
Jake ran out of arguments and clenched his jaw before saying, "Then just don't forget that she saved your life. Without her, you could have been shot by that soldier in the woods."
His hand reached for her elbow. "Please Neytiri, trust me."
He wasn't wrong, but she didn't want to admit it to him either. She pulled her arm out of his hand and said defeatedly, "Then it is so. The human is coming along."
Nete couldn't believe that he alone had managed to convince his parents. He was proud of himself and happy to be able to take his Y/N with him. He promised himself that when they were safe with the Metkayina, he would finally confess his feelings to her.
Tuk Tuk was also head over heels with the idea of her big sister - at least in age - being allowed to accompany her. Kiri, too, was glad that she wouldn't have to be alone with the skawngs who called themselves her brothers and would have someone to talk to and wouldn't feel so alone in her new home.
Y/N herself was glad that she was allowed to come with them, but the closer the day of departure came, the more her stomach churned. She would soon be leaving the people who raised her. She would miss Norm the most, with his little dad jokes that only she had ever laughed at. He was a great father figure, for never wanting kids. And a great mentor as far as anthropology went. She would miss Mary, the botanist and biologist who was always there for her like a real mother, teaching her everything. She realized again that family does not have to be by blood, family can also come through love and understanding.
And she felt this partly also with the Sully's. They were like siblings to her, always treating her fairly and making sure nothing would happen to her. They loved her so much that sometimes they forgot that she wasn't 7 feet tall and blue like themselves. She knew she was in good hands with them too. And even more so when Neteyam was with her.
In the meantime, there was still some work to be done. For example, appointing a new Olo'eyktan, since Jake would now be leaving the clan for an undefined period of time. He transferred his leadership to Tarsem, a young Na'vi man who fought together with Jake's squad to attack the Mag-Lev train. He described him "wise beyond his age" and thought of him as a great leader. The ceremony took place at the Tree of Souls, where Mo'at placed the garn worn by Jake and previously Eytukan onto Tarsem, who then symbolically cut Jake on the chest to "kill" the previous leader.
The day of departure was approaching and Y/N returned to the scientists for a few hours to say goodbye. The decision was not easy for them either, but it would be the best for Y/N. She packed a few things, she was not allowed to take too much either, because they would travel with the Ikrans of the family. She hugged everyone once again and promised them that they would see each other again when everything would finally be over. She also promised that she would come back with Spider. Norm then gave her a tablet with a solar charger, so that she could maybe call in between and if there was an emergency, they could be right there. Max also gave her enough batteries for her modified exopack. She thanked them for the good time and headed for the door. As she turned around one last time Max said, "They grow up so fast. First they run around the lab in diapers and then all of a sudden they are adults and go their own way" Y/N smiled at his comment and waved them goodbye one more time.
Now it was time. A new beginning with a new clan where she had to prove herself strong enough to keep up with them. But at least she had her other family by her side and Neteyam.

Meanwhile, Jake took his mate aside to their mauri to have a talk with her.

Y /N grew up with her foster brother Miles in Pandora, in the remains of Hell's Gate. Since Norm and the other scientists can't fully prepare them for life on the other planet, he asked his old friend Jake Sully for a favor. Jake took them in to teach them how to survive in the woods. Quickly a friendship developed between the kids. Especially between Jake's oldest son Neteyam and Y/N. Over the years, the bond between the two grew stronger and stronger. Until the time when the two wondered where their friendship would lead them. Because they both have the same secret. Their feelings for each other. Which developed to the point where they didn't know if they'd rather be more than friends, even though they were two different species.

Y/N waited at the other end of the glade until Neteyam also came after her. He had an annoyed expression on his face. Why did Tuk have to come now of all times? And why did the food have to be ready now? With every more step he wished he could turn back time, to be in her arms again and hold her forever, so she wouldn't run away and he could finally confess his love to her. And to finally be able to seal their love with a kiss.
She held out her hand for Nete to take. In the meantime, Tuk ran forward full of joy and waved her arms around her as if she was flying. When she was out of sight, Neteyam took Y/N's hand and together they returned hand in hand to the village. He already couldn't get enough of holding her hand and clasped it tighter the closer they got.
They drew a few stares as they stepped onto the Omatikaya ground, first and foremost from their friends and siblings. Y/N was beaming over both ears and Kiri rooted from afar for Y/N that they had both finally managed to express their feelings and that they belonged together.
Lo'ak, however, could only laugh stupidly when he saw the slightly strained expression on his big brother's face. However Kiri and Lo'ak did not know yet that it didn't come to the large confession as they had hoped for.
While Y/N and `Teyam were looking for the others in the crowd to sit down with them, Neyetam's clan friends suddenly came to him and pulled him along with them full of laughter. One could only half guess that they had something of a funny story to tell. As Neteyam now disappeared into the group, Spider came up to her to tell her where Kiri and the rest were. She sat down and engaged in the conversation the others had before. But somehow her side felt bare without Neteyam. By the fire, Y/N was desperately looking for Nete on the other side, where he sat with his friends. She was a little crestfallen that he let himself be pulled away so easily. Of course she understood that he had other friends besides her and Spider, but after what had happened in the meadow, she would have liked to spend some more time with him. It had just felt too beautiful, like a dream. To be able to touch him and admire him. To trace his markings with her fingers. Counting his individual freckles and feeling his warmth. He just looked so damn good in the dim light.
She was gushing so much that she didn't even notice that the food was being served. There was grilled hexapede meat and teylu. Spider handed her an extra wooden board full of teylu, since it was her favorite Na'vi dish. She was surprised how quickly she got used to the Na'vi diet and how quickly she grew fond of it. For one thing, she liked Teylu so much because she couldn't get enough of the unique taste and that it was safe for her to eat as a human. And on the other hand because of the story Lo'ak told her years ago, which was about his father eating teylu for the first time and it almost stuck in his throat when Neytiri told him that it was grilled insect-like larvae. However, not wanting to be rude, he told Neytiri that it tasted almost exactly like his „grandmother's teylu“.
As she ate, her eyes again wandered to the other side, finally finding Neteyam. He had spotted her earlier and looked at her as if he wanted to go over and take her back with him. He literally stared at her as if there was something on his lips that he desperately wanted to tell her. But Kiri interrupted their eye contact when she asked what had happened between the two.
"And what happened between you and him? Did you finally kiss?"
"Shh, Kiri, not so loud. No we didn't kiss. We just sat in the grass and talked," Y/N said, a certain redness slowly rising in her cheeks again as she recalled. "Something else happened, or why are you blushing now, heh?" replied Kiri with a grin. "We somehow got closer, he had touched me. I took thereupon all my courage together and sat down on his lap. We held each other in our arms, but nothing more happened" Kiri was a little disappointed, she knew that Y/N was a little shy around Nete, but she would have expected something else from her brother.
Before Y/N could start talking out about the situation again, Miles arrived from the side and started playing with the food. He waved a piece of teylu in front of Y/N's face to play airplane. He made plane noises with his mouth and came closer and closer with his hand to her face. "Watch out Y/N here comes the teylu plane" She opened her mouth but on purpose he missed it and poked it to her left cheek, then her right and then her chin. Y/N understood his joke and started fooling around with him. "Miles, cut it out," she said and next slapped his hand away and took the teylu from his hand and popped it into her mouth. He then poked her in the ribs and she let out a little shriek. That was only the beginning of their numerous playfights. Spider kept poking and at some point started tickling her. Y/N defended herself by lashing out and tried to do the same to him. It escalated only after a few seconds and they were wrestling with each other. Miles pushed her to the ground and held both of her hands to keep on annoying her. She squirmed back and forth and used all her strength to free herself from his grip. Then she pushed her hand into his face to keep Spider at a distance. Holding his head back, he kept trying to reach for her and didn't give up. At last he tore himself free, wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down with him. Miles laid on the floor with Y/N on top of him hugging her tightly. "Don't be mad, will you?" he said with a laugh, beaming a grin at her. Slightly annoyed, Y/N then replied, "I love you too Miles," and began to ruffle his hair. Tuk Tuk cheered them on and was disappointed that the "fight" between the two was over so quickly. Furthermore, they drew more stares from the other Omaticaya, most notably Neteyam's gaze. Which darkened from this second to the next.
He sat there with a tension and had to watch how someone else touched the girl he loved so much. He was more than annoyed, almost angry, that both of them just fooled around and lay together in each other's arms. He couldn't believe that Y/N would just let Miles touch her like that. He was jealous, so jealous that he interpreted the touching as something else and not just as a display of brotherly affection. He was jealous of Miles that he could just start a play fight without having to be careful about using too much force and not hurting her because of his stature. He was jealous that Y/N didn't touch him like that, even though the previous encounter between the two was very intimate for him. He felt no amusement in watching the two of them. After all, hadn't Y/N felt the connection in the meadow between the two of them? Did she care so little? Was she so oblivious to his feelings - that he didn't exactly express directly? What would have happened if he had kissed her, would she have pushed him away and told him she didn't feel the way he did? So many thoughts flashed through his mind that he couldn't watch it anymore, which is why he stood up abruptly and escaped the scene. He needed to cool down. He would like to punch a tree, but even that wouldn't bring his emotions down now. His friends were still calling after him, but he didn't respond. He needed to be alone now.
Slowly it was time to say goodbye, it was already late at night and Y/N was starting to get tired. She was crestfallen that it had unfortunately passed so quickly. Miles and Y/N made their way home so that Norm and the other scientists wouldn't have to worry. She hugged Kiri last and then asked, "Have you seen Neteyam anywhere? Earlier he was still sitting at the fire but was gone so suddenly? I wanted to wish him good night"
"I haven't seen him since we ate. I don't know where he is," Lo'ak replied.
She got sad when she heard that Neteyam was nowhere to be found. The evening with him was special and she wanted to thank him. Feeling disappointed, she then made her way home with her head hanging low.
Meanwhile, Neteyam had withdrawn to his hammock. He wanted to say goodbye to Y/N when she left, but he was just too angry and could not bear to see Miles any longer. His jealousy consumed his body and he decided to replay the pleasant part of the day by closing his eyes.
The next few days weren't the easiest for Neteyam. He was even more confused than before. There was a complete chaos of emotions inside him, which he unfortunately took out on the others around him. Especially on Miles. Since the night he couldn't stand to look him in the eye, so blinded was he by his jealousy and his wrong interpretation. He was harsh to him every time he did any misdeeds with Lo'ak again. He was not afraid to put him in his place in front of the whole group. Once it even got so bad that Neteyam came marching towards Spider with big steps, towering over him with his body and looking at him with a burning gaze. Then the lecture about a small thing Spider did began. The others didn't understand why Nete suddenly became so aggressive and when the situation seemed to escalate, Y/N desperately stepped in and put her hand on Neteyam's chest. For a moment his anger seemed to disappear as he looked first at her hand on his body and then into her shocked eyes. She didn't know what had gotten into him. Why was he like this? Did something happen between them? The young woman asked herself in her thoughts. She hadn't noticed anything, though. Y/N tried to descalate the situation further. "Nete calm down. What's wrong with you?" But he only scoffed and turned on his heel to go somewhere else.
A voice inside him only confirmed his suspicions and anxiety began to settle in him that it would be better for the two of them if they would rather find someone from their own species.
Overwhelmed with the situation, Y/N had to sit down for a while. It was just so strange that Nete had changed so much, that he got angry so quickly and when confronted he took off without paying attention to anyone. It also seemed to her like he was avoiding her. Every time she tried to talk to him about it, he just blocked and left her standing. Moreover, only a few words were spoken between them. Y/N was worried about her friend, because it certainly wasn't his way of dealing with her and the people around him.
While Y/N was still wondering what could have happened, Neteyam walked past his family's hut. His parents noticed his presence and his mother Neytiri called out to him. "Neteyam! Will you come join us for a moment?" He turned and walked toward his mother. His father was waiting in the hut and asked him to sit down. "Neteyam, we need to talk to you." Nete thought at first that his parents wanted to address him on his quick-tempered behavior, but the following sentence from Neytiri shocked him. "Ma Nete, we already know you're grown up now and we think it's about time you find yourself a mate" Then Jake started to continue the conversation. "What your mother is trying to tell you is that we never see you with other girls from the clan and just wanted to carefully ask if you have already thought about the subject" Neteyam was stunned and embarrassed by the statements that his mouth hung open like a fish. Of course he didn't hang around other girls when his desired mate Y/N was right in front of him. But how should he explain this now? Especially now towards his mother, who always let the two humans know that she only tolerated them because her husband wanted it that way. He had no interest in others, he wanted alone only Y/N. Since their eldest son didn't say anything, the parents began to continue talking.
"You must know Velai, right? Ninat's daughter. She's a good girl and a good huntress. She would suit you. She is also very family-oriented. Velai is very affectionate with her siblings and the other children" He tried to imagine in his inner eye what it would be like to be with Velai, but in his mind could only imagine the human girl Y/N, with whom he grew up. The girl he knew as well as the rainforests of Pandora. Even though at the moment it didn't seem that way and the relationship was just beginning to crumble, he would fight for Y/N to choose him. She would in the very end become his mate, not some girl of the Omatikaya, not Velai, he just wanted Y/N. And whatever it would take to convince his mother and father that he had fallen in love with one of the Sky People, he would do it. Even if it seemed impossible.
Y/N went in search of him during the time Neteyam was staying with his parents. On the way, she passed by his family's home and heard people inside. Maybe he was hiding here, she thought. She walked towards the curtain and that was when she heard the voices of Neytiri and Jake. Y/N got curious and walked closer. She knew it was wrong to eavesdrop on them, but she just couldn't help it. And when she heard the words "Neteyam", " mate", "Ninat's daughter" she stayed rooted to the spot. Shock spread through her and she swallowed a big lump. They were talking about Nete finding a mate, since he was mature enough. She didn’t know how to react, it was none of her business to judge, but it hurt inside her. The encounter in the clearing had been her missed chance to tell him about her feelings. She touched him to show him that she liked him. But maybe her intentions were not clear enough and he just thought she was too curious. Tears came to her eyes when she noticed that Neteyam said nothing to his parents. The silence for her was an agreement on `Teyam's part that he would accept the proposal and wanted to meet Velai. When she noticed a rustling in the Sully's home, she quickly took off so no one would catch her eavesdropping and that she was there at all. Y/N ran to her special place, the clearing. She sat down and more and more tears welled up in her eyes. After some time she got up from her huddled state and saw that the Atokirina were gathering around her again. They floated weightlessly around her, some resting on her head. She looked up and saw that one of the woodsprites was moving toward her hand. She played with it, giving it momentum with her hand, it would fly back up and then it came back towards her. She sat there longer, enjoying the presence of the Atokirina. It was getting dark and the little creatures decided to leave Y/N. A thought came into her head that it was unusual for the woodsprites to come to this place. She had never seen the jellyfish-like creatures here before and she had been coming to this clearing for years. They appeared only the first time when she and Neteyam sat here together and now a second time.
Was it another sign from Eywa? This can't be a coincidence, Y/N thought to herself. And then she made a decision. It was surely a sign from Eywa, it simply couldn't be anything else. She wanted to show her that it was the right thing to fight for Neteyam and to show him that she loved him. She then gathered all her courage and decided to show Neteyam and his family that she would be a worthy mate for him. No matter what she had to do for that, she would do everything in her power for it. The hardest part, however, would be showing Neytiri that even a human could be good enough for her son. With Jake she was less worried, because she could still play the you-were-a-human-once-too card and maybe convince him. She wanted to go on her way again and wiped her face to get rid of the tears that had almost dried. Now began her battle of approval.

As if enough wasn't already happening in everyone's lives, now it came to the worst. Jake came back to the clan one day with terrible news. The Sky People had come to Pandora again. This time they were said to be stronger in weapons and machinery and also in adapting to the habitat by creating a new kind of dreamwalker. The RDA had set the goal of taking over Pandora once and for all, so they could finally continue their plan to exploit the planet. Jake called a crisis gathering, with the other Omatikaya warriors and the rest of the humans, to formulate a strategic plan for how they would proceed. He had hoped all these years that the danger was finally gone and his family and clan were finally free from the evil humans' machinations.
The meeting with the councils took hours, if not even days, everything had to be planned strategically, because if it was up to Jake's gut feeling, that he was certain the RDA would track him down. Now that he also had family and was the clan chief, he simply had too many points of attack to get to him. And he didn't want to risk losing his family because of himself.
As the Olo'eyktan, Jake finally decided that they would relocate the clan, to the Hallelujah Mountains. There they built a camp with the humans, which they named High Camp. It now became the temporary home of the Omatikaya.
The children of the Sullys and also Neytiri herself didn't like the idea of leaving their home, the forest and their Hometree behind, but the safety of all outweighed their own feelings.
In the new home everything was different, it was dark between the mountains and there were hardly any luminous plants like those to be found in the forest. The most affected was Tuk Tuk, who didn't want to leave the forest at all, but her mother reassured her that it would only be a temporary measure and that they wouldn't stay here forever. She could still play with her siblings in the forest. Because of the Omatikaya's quick adaptability, the High Camp was quickly set up and made home. Y/N also helped vigorously with the new setup. She supported everyone as much as she could. It was, after all, her second family. But for Jake, this was not all. Jake was not a person who would hide in the shadows, no, he would fight as he had done back then.
In the time of new beginnings, things between Y/N and Neteyam continued to crumble. He spent more time with Velai at his parents' request, even though he didn't really want to. Sometimes it got to the point where they ignored each other, and now that the Sky People were coming back, they both had a short temper from all the tension. In addition, Jake fully involved his sons in the plans, so there was hardly any time left for the two of them. Y/N did everything she could to stay close to Neteyam, even if it meant putting herself in dangerous situations. But today she was not a part of it.
To prevent the RDA from exploiting Pandora further, Jake decided to lead an ongoing strategic guerrilla operation aimed at weakening the RDA supply lines. In this mission, a raid on a maglev train, the Olo'eyktan had decided to send his two sons Neteyam and Lo'ak as spotters. They had been told to fly over the area with their Ikrans and let their father know what the situation was like from above. But as Lo'ak always was, namely rebellious, he wanted to prove to himself and his father that he could fight as well as the other warriors in the clan. He tried to persuade his brother to come to the battlefield with him. Nete, however, didn't think much of his plan and told his little brother, "Don't do that. Dad would skin us" But since Lo'ak was so stubborn, he didn't let go of his plan and flew down with his Ikran. "Lo'ak come back here" Nete called after him, but he didn't hear it anymore, Nete let out an annoyed yell and then followed his brother. While now Lo'ak with his big brother in tow disobeyed their father, and now stood down on the battlefield, more and more RDA forces in Kestrel gunships were coming to them. Even though Lo'ak was initially convinced that he could handle a Sky People firearm, since Jake had "taught" him, he was overwhelmed by the brutality of the people. Neteyam did everything to protect his little brother, but in the end he overestimated himself and Nete was wounded.
Jake, however, came to the rescue and took his children back to High Camp, the flight there was in complete silence. Y/N and the others were more than stressed out and prayed to Eywa that everyone would make it back safely. When she spotted the Ikran of `Teyam she notified the others and they ran towards the arriving warriors. They were all very worried.
Jake pulled his two sons along by the scruff of the neck and the others gathered around them. "What were you thinking again, Lo'ak," he hissed at him. "You have put your brother and others in great danger" No one dared speak a word. "How dare you two disobey my orders again?" Neteyam took the blame again and said it was his fault. "Dad, it was my fault, I shouldn't have let Lo'ak fly away like that."
"I really expected something different from you in a situation like this, Neteyam. You really let me down" Jake was even angrier than before and the people around him didn't help to keep his rage in check either. "Kiri, help your grandmother with the injured".
"He's hurt," Kiri tried to explain to her adoptive father. But he ignored her comment. When Tuk heard what Kiri had said, she took the arm from her other brother and looked to see if he was also carrying any visible injuries. Jake just shook his head and Kiri stood her ground staying by Nete‘s site. "What the hell has gotten into you guys lately" Blinded again Jake didn't notice that his oldest was really hurt. Now Neytiri tried to intervene as well. "Jake your son is hurt" She tried to calm her mate down. When Y/N heard what Neytiri said, she jumped to Neteyam's side like Tuk before and checked him for wounds too, even if they were only small scratches. "Go patch him up," Jake gave up when he realized it was no use continuing to give his sons a lecture. The scurry of the Sully family dispersed and Kiri and Y/N helped Neteyam to Mo'at's tent. Lo'ak was still standing in the same spot. He had really hoped that his father would see his potential in him for once. But he hadn't expected the fight to turn out like this either. "Get that crap out of your face," his father said at the end before he left, and Lo'ak wiped the war paint off his face with the back of his hand.
"Nete please don't ever do something like that again," Y/N said to him worriedly as she held his arm tightly to guide him. "I had to protect my brother"
"I know you did, but it could have ended so much worse for you. I could have lost you" His heart soared at her words. Her concern for him made him happy and he tried to cheer her up, not liking the sad look on her face. "I am your mighty warrior after all. I'll be fine" All the encounters from the last few days, when they were almost at enmity with each other and hardly spent any time together, seemed to have faded away. Feeling her closeness, her warmth again. He wanted most of all to take her in his arms again and tell her that she doesn't have to worry about him, as long as he could look into her beautiful eyes again at the end. But unfortunately nothing came of it, because Kiri began to supply him with an ointment, which burned strongly on his skin. Y/N contorted her face as she saw Neteyam in pain and then took his hand in hers and brought it to her face to show him that she was with him. No matter what. And he realized again that he would want to spend more time with her.
After the event, Neteyam was instructed not to take his eyes off his brother and so he had to come along again, although he had actually imagined spending the day with Y/N, but she was nowhere to be found. They wanted to explore the forest together today and since Tuk would have been alone again, she simply came along. Lo'ak was less enthusiastic about this and made after her in a high voice that was supposed to resemble Tuk's "If you don't let me come to the battlefield, I'm telling mom" and waved his hands around. Tuk, however, just stuck her tongue out at him and continued to hop around after Kiri. They walked around for some time, occasionally encountering small animals like the fan lizards. Tuk enjoyed disturbing the resting lizards and ran towards them. They got scared and she marveled as these luminous magenta discs floated away to a safe spot.
During the playful venture in the forest they came across a place that Spider recognized as the place where Jake and his father fought. Lo‘ak then decides to explore it, knowing again it was against Jakes rules. Neteyam was not amused by his brothers behavior but as soon as he wanted to tell the others that it wasn’t a good idea to go there, they had already scurried off. Unbeknownst to them, they were not alone. Miles Quaritch, now in his new Na‘Vi body and with his 1st Recom squad in tow were reconnoitering the same spot.
Lo'ak noticed them first and stopped his siblings, gesturing for them to hide in the bushes. He and Neteyam then decided to radio their father about their whereabouts. However, a skirmish ensues and the Recom squad captures the Sully children before they can get a response from their father.

The group arrives with the injured Y/N at the Omatikaya clan. Neteyam helped her down and escorted her in the direction of the Tsahík's tent, but the two were stopped by his father Jake. He stood directly in front of them, put his hand on his son's chest to signal him to stop, and called to his other son who was still standing with Miles by his ikran. "What do you think you're doing? Disobeying my orders and just going to this place?" "Dad," Lo'ak tried to interrupt, but this one was of no use. "Don't even get me started Lo'ak. I expected better from my children and even more so from my eldest son" At the same time he looked at Nete with a deadly gaze. "Tuk told me where you were going and that it was your idea, Lo'ak!" turning to his youngest son. "I'm really disappointed in both of you and then for you to drag two others into this is even worse. What's actually going through your little brains?"
This time Nete tried to interrupt his father and save his little brother from his anger. "Dad, it's my fault" he hung his head low. "I should have been more persistent. I should have made them understand better that it was too dangerous and I should have taken more care of Y/N. Then she wouldn't be hurt now either."
Jake's eyes suddenly got big and his ears started to twitch. In his fury, he hadn't noticed the girl in his son's arms. He gently grabbed her shoulder and examined her. When he saw the claw wounds on her back, he immediately called Kiri over to help her to Mo'at. But before she arrived, Y/N grabbed Jake's arm. "Jake, it was my fault. Everything was going fine. Neteyam had been checking to see if there was any danger, but there was nothing. If I hadn't just run away, none of this would have happened. Please, it was my fault" He just gave her a dismissive nod before a loud shout of her name rang out. "Y/N! Are you alright?" Kiri came running up and looked at her with concern. "Just a little scratch," the young human woman tried to play it down. Kiri turned her around and looked at her back. "That's not just a little scratch, Y/N. That looks like you were attacked by a thanator!" Y/N pressed her lips together and gave her an affirmative nod. "Say, are you three nuts! How can you just stand there like that when she's hurt. You're all so stupid!" "Kiri, it's fine. Can we patch me up now, please?" Y/N reassured her and they both walked to the entrance of the hut. `Teyam wanted to follow her but his father wasn't finished with him yet.
In Mo'at's tent, Kiri set Y/N down on a wooden stool, which was placed in the center. The Tsahík, came out of the shadows and asked, "What happened to the human child?" It was not meant derogatory towards Y/N, that's just what Mo'at had always called her. She liked the human because she didn't see any bad intentions in her either. Tuk, who had followed the two chirped in, "She was attacked, by a palulukan, grandmother" Mo'at then continued to walk towards the seated Y/N and grabbed the t-shirt rags. "I see, you know child not everyone survives an attack like that. Even our warriors succumb to the injuries of such an animal. You must have been very lucky" "No luck. I had Neteyam" she replied. Neteyam the mighty warrior. Her mighty warrior. The Tsahík then gave a `hmm` and gestured Kiri over to her. "Kiri, I want you to take care of her. I'm sure you're prepared already" Kiri nodded briefly and began to gather her things. She looked for several herbs and ointments which were distributed in differently woven baskets. Suddenly the curtain, which served as a door, moved and the head of Nete came to light. "Is she well?" asked the young warrior.
Mo'at replied, "She's fine, it's just surface scratches, not too deep. Kiri will take good care of her, but you have to wait outside. She needs concentration" Kiri had tried to pull the blood soaked shirt over her head in that time and a painful moan from Y/N followed. Neteyam's head snapped in the direction of the sound.
"B-But I want to be there. She's in pain."
"I said Kiri needs concentration and the human child needs rest. You wait outside"
With that the might word was spoken and `Teyam left the tent with a sigh.
While the Na'vi girl took care of Y/N, a conversation occurred outside between Neytiri and her husband.
"Don't you see, Jake? She could have put our children in danger"
"It was an accident, Neytiri"
"Yes, an accident Eywa caused as another sign that humans don't belong here. She just wanted to keep the balance and saw her as a threat"
Jake was getting tired of listening to all of this. Of course he knew of his wife's opinion and that she was unhappy that he still kept this "monkey", as Neytiri referred to her, with him. But it was just an accident that could have happened to anyone.
"Neytiri, please. It was an accident. You saved me quite a few times too, when I was new to it all. Don't forget that I was once human too"
"That's different" Jake just shook his head. "It's nothing different. I was like a baby to you that had to be taught everything. Y/N grew up with Spider here and they've been through a lot. Just look at them then like toddlers who didn't know any better yet" `Tiri was stunned by her mate's statement, how could he yell at his own children, like that and then come to the defense of the two monkey kids. She was fed up with the conversation, but it wasn't over yet. With a slight hiss, she retreated. Jake grimaced, in reaction to her behavior. Sometimes he was really afraid of his wife.
Tuk continued to worry about Y/N and took her hand to show her that she was there for her. She was sorry to see her human sister - that's how she liked to look at her - in such a state. Of course, she had witnessed this before when her brothers were once again injured, but with Y/N it was different. Tuktirey had grown up with her. Ever since she could remember back, Y/N had always been there. And Y/N was always the only one who wanted to play with her when her brothers were annoyed with Tuk again.
The care of the wound hurt a lot and Y/N pressed Tuk Tuk's hand again and again if the burning became too strong. When Kiri finally finished applying the ointments, she made something like a bandage out of certain leaves and wrapped her upper body with it. After a short time, the herbs began to work and Y/N was able to put on her ragged t-shirt again on her own.
Nete racked his brains about how she was doing in the meantime. He was glad to have been there. He would never have been able to cope with it if something worse had happened to Y/N. His Y/N. His head rose when he noticed that Y/N came out of the tent of the Tsahík and immediately ran towards her. Kiri tried to brush him off. "She needs rest Neteyam. Let her."
"It's all good Kiri, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be standing next to you right now. My strong warrior saved me" she said with a smirk in her tone. `Teyam's ears perked up and he felt that warmth in his body again. She had called him, her strong warrior. He wanted to grab his cheeks, as he could have sworn they were now purple from her statement.
"If you need anything, you know where to find me, Y/N" Kiri replied to her and made her way to the other Na'vi women in the clan.
But before any of them could say anything, Jake intervened again with Miles and Lo'ak in tow. "I think it's better if you go home for the day. A lot has happened and you need to rest, Y/N" Miles and Y/N nodded and went on their way. "And you two will be grounded for a week for your actions today, just so we're clear about that." he added again, pointing his finger at his two sons.
For Y/N and Miles, the day was as good as over. Y/N just wanted to go to bed and sleep and Miles just wanted to go home, that was enough action for him today too. When they entered the lab, the scientists were already waiting for them. Norm immediately ran towards the door when he saw Y/N. "What kind of stuff are you doing, Y/N?" he asked. "Do you actually know how worried I was when Jake let us know you were hurt?", Mary came to her side and took her in her arms. "I can imagine, but I'm better Kiri took good care of me. I guess the shock was worse than the actual injury" Y/N said "Let me look at it again please though. Come" She led Y/N to a doctor's room and began to examine her. There was no doubt that the Omatikaya medication would not work, but Mary's maternal instinct would not let her go and wanted to examine the her herself.
In the aftermath, there was no punishment for the two young adults, but it was stated with an cautioning tone that they shouldn't pull another stunt like that in the near future and that their adventures can wait.
It took a few days for Y/N to recover and stand on both legs again. The herbal paste had helped her very well. Nevertheless, she preferred to stay at home for a few more days to be really sure that she had recovered. Miles, on the other hand, had already decided to return to the forest after two days. He was also the messenger between the two sides, telling the Sully family every day that she was already feeling better. During the time Y/N spent at home, she was allowed to help out in the labs and she was finally able to digitize her new notes from her little book. Furthermore, there was another new achievement of the researchers. They had done several tests and invented a new type of respirator. Instead of a mask like the conventional exopack, they had now invented an oxygen nasal cannula that would deliver enough oxygen to the body without the need to place a mask on the face, tightly enclosing the nose and mouth. It was only a prototype but the researchers were sure if they worked more on it, it would come to a new breakthrough and provide more freedom of movement. This type of device consists of a lightweight tube which on one end splits into two prongs which are placed in the nostrils and from which a mixture of air and oxygen flows. The other end of the tube is connected to an oxygen supply as a portable oxygen generator, that could be placed on the hip just like the exopack.
Y/N was the first to find out about it, as Miles once again strayed somewhere. Norm came to her room one afternoon to show her the new device. She was very excited for him and his research colleagues that they had discovered a new way to provide oxygen to the body. Norm also asked her in the same moment that she be allowed to test it first, but they were not sure yet that it would work consistently, so she would have to keep her actual exopack with her at all times. She felt honored and accepted the opportunity directly. She would have loved to show it to her friends right away. The thought immediately brought Neteyam to her mind. She had missed him very much and couldn't wait to show him. It would be the first time he could see her face properly.
"Norm, can I go out today?" she asked while playing with her hands in her lap.
„Are you feeling any better?"
"Yes much better, it doesn't hurt anymore."
"Well then, nothing can stop you now. Go on, but this time come back without any injuries," he encouraged her and Y/N quickly got up to gather her things.
In the meantime, the Omatikaya clan also experienced a sense of achievement. This year, especially many young people had reached the age for the rite of passage to begin. It's a ritual phase that every young Na'vi must go through, wether it be to be an aspiring warrior to a practitioner of amor making. Once the Na'vi enter into the intermediate phase of adulthood, they will undergo training in their desired skill they wish to focus on. They are taught by a senior member of the clan. Once they completed their first kill, like Neteyam did when he killed the sturmbeest, their rite of passage begins. They must tame a banshee, the Iknimaya rite, by roping an Ikran and preforming the bond to tame it before having them fly. After this they must seek their spirit animal in the dream hunt. Once the young Na'vi has completed all of their tasks and training, they are then honored with a ceremony in which they will be inducted and considered as an adult among the Omatikaya.
For the clan members, the large number of adolescents was a sign from Eywa that the losses of the last decade were being recovered. Which is why they decided to hold an especially large feast today. After the now adult Na'vi were allowed to make their bows from the Hometree, the preparations began. At first, Neytiri was against Miles and Y/N being allowed to participate in the festivities. But after a long struggle and persuasion of her youngest daughter she had given in.
The arrangements were already in full swing and Kiri's plan to finally get Neteyam to confess his feelings to Y/N was getting closer and closer. While she had already gone through the rite and kept out of everything, she got the idea to dress Y/N like a real Na'vi at the festivities. Already a few days ago she searched together with Tuktirey for materials to make clothes for her. They came to the decision, since Y/N did not feel comfortable to show herself so freely in front of the Omatikaya - which they somehow did not understand, but Kiri then remembered that humans felt the sensation of shame - to make a top that would cover her chest best. It consisted of small green hollow rods arranged horizontally, from a shrub that was used to make most of the garments. In the middle, they decorated it with colorful beads that Tuk still had with her, from her last trip to explore with Y/N.
For the clothing for her lower area, they decided on a normal loincloth, just like they would wear. If Y/N felt too uncomfortable in it as well, she would still have the option to leave her underwear on.
They also prepared a blue color paste that resembled the blue of the Na'vi to give her the distinctive stripes as well, as Spider always wore them. For the hair, Tuk had come up with something. Since she wasn't very good at braiding yet, she wanted to only braid a few small braids in her hair, which she would then decorate with feathers.
Y/N barged right in the middle of the preparations. All the members quickly scurried from one place to another so they would be ready in time. Y/N admired the graceful movements, they almost looked like rehearsed choreography. Kiri noticed the unfamiliar contrast between all the tall blue people and quickly pulled Y/N out of the crowd to join her. "There you are, we missed you so much", she replied and pressed her human friend very tightly against her, so much that Y/N had to tap her several times on the arm, so that Kiri did not crush her. Kiri could only laugh, sometimes she forgot that she is not like her. "Come along. Tuk and I have a surprise for you".
Thus she pulled Y/N with her up a root to drag her along into a hut.
"Y/N!" exclaimed Tuktirey with excitement. "Tuk Tuk and I have thought of an idea. Since today is the feast and you're back here for the first time after your accident, we decided to dress you up like us. Look" said Kiri with full anticipation and Tuk pulled a cloth away from a stool to reveal the beautiful handmade clothes. For Y/N, it was an honor to be given this opportunity and she was thrilled. "Oh no, how great. Thank you!" and without hesitation Y/N began to undress and the two girls helped her put on the Na'vi clothes. After Y/N looked herself over she almost got tears in her eyes. It was unusual for her, but she never felt so beautiful as she did now. Next came the hair and Tuk put extra effort into it. Now it was Kiri's turn again and she started to paint the stripes on her body with the color paste. The paste was cold and Y/N started to shiver when Kiris fingers touched her body. "Now you have to hold your breath for a moment. I still have to paint your face"
"I don't have to do that now" the human said. Kiri was confused. Humans could not breathe the air on Pandora. So why shouldn't she have to hold her breath now? "What do you mean?"
"Wait I'll show you" thereupon Y/N took out of her pocket a device that reminded Kiri of the exopack Y/N had hanging on her hip, but it looked different. "This is a new device to breathe. With this the annoying mask is finally gone. Norm gave it to me to try out."
Y/N took in one last deep breath of air in the mask before taking it off her head and setting it aside. She then took the nasal cannula and placed it in her nostrils, placed the two tubes over her ears and then turned on the device. The first breath was unusual but hadn't felt any different. "Wow, how cool is that?" exclaimed Tuk, sitting down right next to Y/N. "And you can breathe normally through that? There's really nothing happening?" asked Kiri. "The way I understood Norm, yes. I'm supposed to try it out and I thought I'd show you guys first" The girls were happy to finally see their human friend's face without a mask. Tuk couldn't stop herself from touching her face and started to giggle while doing so.
Kiri continued with the painting and when she was finally finished, she let out a little comment. "Neteyam will like the outfit for sure and even more when he will see you without the mask for the first time. His eyes will probably fall out, as beautiful as you look" The girls laughed and Y/N's cheeks turned all red. Would he really like her like that? If that was true, then she would definitely wear this more often. But then the doubts came again. "Oh Kiri, Nete does only like me as a friend and no more. Please don't picture more there. Some day he will be the Olo'eyktan of you and for this he needs a strong Na'vi woman at his side and not me" Kiri was sure, however, that the two had more than just friendly feelings for each other. Even if they thought that they would be secretive about it, it was not so. It felt like everyone who was even near the two of them saw it. "Sure, haven't you seen the way he looks at you? The way he talks to you? Or the way he touches you like you're about to break?" Kiri made the signs clear to her, but deep inside she still didn't want to believe it. Kiri noticed Y/N looking down at the floor with a sad expression. "Just get out there and you'll see I'm right. He will only have eyes for you"
It was slowly becoming evening, the pandora sun was beginning to set and the festivities were starting to begin. Several fires were lit over which the food from the hunt was grilled. There was singing, there was dancing. But most of all, there was simply celebration that more than a dozen of the Omatikaya teenagers were now finally adults. Neteyam celebrated his friends, but when he saw Y/N in Na'vi clothing leaving a tent by the tree, he only had eyes for her. He could hardly have imagined that she could be more beautiful than usual. Yet it was possible. She was breathtaking. Seeing her simply embrace and respect the ways and culture of his clan only made her more beautiful. He was sure she must be a gift from Eywa herself. As if hypnotized, he walked up to her and when he suddenly stood in front of her, he suddenly became quite shy.
"Hey," he greeted her. At first he didn't even notice that she wasn't wearing a mask, but when she started to speak, he noticed that her voice was clear and understandable and wasn't muffled as usual.
„Hey, `Teyam"
"Y-you're not wearing your mask. Can you breathe normally with that thing in your nose?" She laughed. Her beautiful smile reappeared and that just for him. "Yes, it's a new invention. It's supposed to become an alternative. But that's not so important now, what do you think of my outfit?"
"You look beautiful. Let me see you" Then he took her hand and turned her once so he could see her beauty completely. At his compliment, her face became all rosy again and she felt a tingling feeling in her stomach. "Would you like to dance? Or eat something?" he asked her, still enclosing her hand with his big one.
"I'd love to celebrate, but I haven't seen you in so long and I'd rather spend some time with you. Let's go to our place, shall we?" she suggested. In this sight he couldn't deny her any wish and pulled her directly with him. They had to walk a while but soon they arrived at the meadow, which they named as their place.
At night, the meadow looked even more beautiful than during the day, even if you could see the sunrise from there, the luminous plants, which sparkled in several colors were much more dazzling. The two found a secluded corner behind a tree trunk and sat down. Y/N was magically drawn to the glimmering plants and couldn't resist tapping a leaf. Her finger twitched back for a moment, but as soon as the neon pink color spread across the leaf she couldn't help herself and had to touch it one more time. For Neteyam, each time was like watching a child discover for the first time that the plants here respond to touch. He considered for a brief moment before reaching out and touching her cheek with his finger. Like the plant, Y/N's cheek turned red and filled with warmth. She flinched from her friend's unfamiliar touch. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. But it looked too inviting" he quipped. "That's all right"
"This thing looks much better than the mask. I can touch your face with this for the first time" he gushed to himself. She could only smile sheepishly. "And does it feel like you imagined?"
"Much softer" He continued touching her. This time her other cheek, then he stroked her forehead, the bridge of her nose and then her lips. He hesitated, but after a long heavy breath, he touched those too. First her upper lip, over her cupid's bow, then to her lower lip. The moment just felt magical. Y/N got goosebumps all over her body and Neteyam pulled his hand back to touch her arm. He had never seen anything like this before. He stroked her arm and the little hairs stood up. "What's that?" he asked. "That's goose bumps. People get that when they're cold or when they're excited. Then these little bumps appear."
"Are you cold?" he continued to ask. She laughed and he was confused. "No, `Teyam. The touch of you had caused that" He made an ‚Ahh‘ sound, he understood. "Can I touch you too?" now she asked. He nodded his head slowly and she moved closer so that her knee touched his leg. If he had been a human, he would have gotten goosebumps now, too.
She was doing the same movements as he was. She stroked his marks on his forehead, on his cheek and stroked his nose. He closed his eyes and enjoyed her touch. She noticed for the first time how beautiful he looked in the light of the glowing plants. His little freckles, how they sparkled in a light white-blue. He was a beautiful. She had nothing more to add. If only there wasn't her cowardice that prevented her from kissing him now. She would do anything for a kiss, but the fear that he would not feel the same was just too great. As a result, she asked him something else. "May I touch your fangs?" He opened his eyes and hesitated for a moment, but allowed her to continue touching him. She changed her position and sat in his lap. To him, it felt strange to have someone else so close and touching his teeth, but at the same time, her warm hands felt so welcoming. Her face came closer to his and and he would have loved to kiss her as well as she looked. How she examined him with curiosity and large pupils. But the thought that they were from two different worlds became prominent again and the same depressing thought flashed through his mind again, that the two of them didn't belong together.
He rather tried to focus on something else, like the tree in the background with long vines hanging from it.
But his body betrayed him as his tail began to twitch and lightly tapped the grass beneath them. Y/N eyes averted at his movement and her gaze fell on his tail swaying from side to side. He tried to control his body, but it was just too hard when one of the most beautiful creatures was sitting on his lap.
Her hand moved in the direction of his tail and when she touched it, he only started twitching more. She let her hand slide over it until she got to the soft end. Neteyam's stomach felt strange at that moment, like there were lots of little crawlers moving around in his stomach. She lifted the tail slowly and stroked the black hair. "It feels all fluffy," she remarked. His whole body began to stiffen when she started to play with the fine hairs. He never felt this way, when he was with other girls from his clan. This was different. Not that he was often with other girls, but every now and then they came to admire him. Only for one reason, though. Because he was a great warrior. Now he only wanted to be her warrior. He would love to save her again, just to get that one sentence from her again. "My strong warrior"
He whispered her name very softly, barely audible. She let go of him and looked Nete in his eyes. His pupils were quite large, from the darkness and from the excitement of her touch. Without another word, the two took each other in their arms. They lingered for a moment, but to them it felt like an eternity. His big arms encircled her body and she snuggled against him. They both felt each other's heartbeat. At first they were fast, but over time the heartbeats became calmer and beat almost in unison with each other.
Unexpectedly, Y/N's shoulder began to tickle. She first tried to get rid of it with a movement, but then it also tickled her other shoulder, then her head. And only shortly after that, Neteyam started to squirm as well. The two interrupted their embrace and looked around.
Around them, in the time of their closeness, have gathered many small woodsprites, atokirina. Who decided to rest on the two of them. "Wow, look Neteyam," Y/N exclaimed as she raised her hand and played with the little flying seeds. Her eyes reflected the white little lights. That was the last sign Neteyam needed, if even Eywa gave them a sign and blessed them, then it must be true. Then Y/N must feel the same as he did. Now he would just have to take the last step.
He took her chin between his fingers and turned her head in his direction. He would have to do it now. He wouldn't get this chance again anytime soon. He brought her face closer to his. His lips ghosted over hers. But before he could really kiss her, a voice rang out from the bushes behind them. "Y/N, Neteyam, food is ready!" And Y/Ns eyes shifted away from him as she looked into the distance. She smiled as Tuktirey came running to get them to eat.
`Teyam winced when he heard his little sister's voice. She really knew how to destroy special moments. Y/N then jumped of his lap and came towards Tuk. "Come on, Neteyam. Otherwise Lo'ak will eat everything!"
Thus, his chance was probably gone. Still, he now had certainty that Eywa would also approve if he liked her as more than a friend.

Earth was dying and the only solution to save humanity was to relocate the inhabitants. They found a planet similar to Earth, which was „only“ five years away and had the name Pandora. However, not everything went as initially hoped. As the people have always been, they did everything in their power to take over the planet and did not stop at doing so with violence. Thus it came to a war between the humans, who were also called sky people, and the natives of Pandora, the Na'vi. Many living beings had to die during the conflict. There were many losses on both sides. Still, the humans did not understand that they were the ones in the wrong.
Jake Sully a former human and now Na'vi led the natives of the planet as the Toruk Makto to victory and forced the humans to return to their home planet. Only a few humans were allowed to stay. They were the peaceful ones among the monsters. They only wanted to explore further the nature and the ways of life and not to destroy. Furthermore, those who were still too young or too weak to return to Earth were allowed to stay. Among these people were Spider and Y/N. They were both too young at the time. The chances of survival to send them back to earth were very low. So they were allowed to stay, but only under the condition to live peacefully with the inhabitants of Pandora and to take only what they needed to survive and no more.
Y/N grew up together with Spider, whose real name was Miles, in the remains of Hell's Gate. The scientists still living there, like Norm, then took on the parental role of the two and taught them everything - at least what they had already researched. It was exhausting for everyone on site, since no one was prepared to babysit for life and they were actually here for a completely different reason. Nonetheless, they all took loving care of the two children and made it possible for them to have a reasonably safe childhood. Everything was safe in the lab, but what happened outside in the wilds of Pandora they were not able to prepare them for, which is why Norm asked his old friend Jake for help.
Jake now had a family of his own, and the children he had with Neytiri were the same age as the two human children. And to do a favor to his friend, Jake allowed the children to stay with him to teach them how to survive in the woods. He kept referring to them as stray cats that would drop by every now and then and then wander off again. They played and romped with the young Sully's and a friendship quickly developed between all of them. Neytiri was not amused by the whole situation, she wanted the humans to finally leave their home planet, because they knew nothing but greed and destruction. Jake tried to calm her down by telling her that he would make sure that this would never happen again and that he would make sure that the bond between them would not be too strong.
Over the years, however, the bond between the two species grew closer and closer, and Y/N and Spider became something like "pseudo Na'vi," as Mary, another scientist, called them. They learned some of the customs of the Omatikaya, how to hunt and defend themselves, how to make weapons and jewelry, and also what herbs could be made into medicine. The young Y/N's favorite topic, however, was the flora and fauna of Pandora's forests. She also enjoyed adventures with the Sully children and Miles, but preferred the quiet of the forest. She is the complete opposite of Spider, while she roamed inquisitively, he preferred to create chaos together with Lo'ak.
Kiri and Y/N had a special friendship. They would often talk for hours about whatever was on their minds. About things from the human world, which Kiri wanted to know more about because of her mother Grace and about the Na'vi world, if Y/N wanted to know more about the All-Mother Eywa or had problems with the language again. The other Omatikaya also became more open to her over time. They trusted each other because she had proven that she was not like the other Sky People and was respectful of their culture.
Another favorite activity of hers is to do a little something with Tuk. She was like a little sister to her, even though they were both the same height. No matter if they played together or were looking for beautiful stones and crystals in the rivers to make beads out of them later. It was always fun.
The young woman was of a relaxed nature and loved to listen to what other people had to tell her. But today she had once again been persuaded to go on another suicide mission with Lo'ak and Spider. For pure safety reasons, Neteyam, Jake's oldest son, also came along today, so that no one would get into trouble and no one would really die.
Spider and her both put on their masks and turned on their exopacks at their hips. They told Norm goodbye and that they would both be home for dinner. She gave her foster father one last hug goodbye and said, "I'll watch Spider. Don't worry he'll be back home in one piece." Norm could only laugh at this comment and looked at the boy in the doorway, who already had a slightly impatient expression on his face. He patted them both affectionately on the back and then flipped the switch to the gate to the outside.
Today's plan was to go to the Hallelujah Mountains to fly with the Ikrans to an old Sky People base. This place was off limits according to Jake, of course, but as Lo'ak used to say, "He's just exaggerating," and who wanted to listen to Jake anyway? Lo'ak and Spider at least didn't, but Neteyam did, which is why he decided to come along.
It took a while for the two to fight their way through the embankment and arrive at the Omatikaya's hometree. There Lo'ak already welcomed them. " Well there you are at last. I've been waiting for you guys for ages" He pushed his way between the two as they walked and put his arms around their shoulders. "Neteyam, the buzzkill is already waiting at the other end. Come!" With that, he let go of the two of them and ran ahead to his older brother. When Nete appeared in their field of vision, she waved at him and called his name. "Nete, hey!" He turned in the direction from where the voice rang out and started smiling right away, running towards her to wrap her in his arms. The two of them had a special relationship too.She pressed her head against his stomach as they hugged. Nete then understood her gesture and hugged her tighter. "I missed you too, even though we just saw each other yesterday," he murmured softly so his other friends wouldn't hear what he said to her. However, the scene was not spared from the comments of the two skxawngs. "Find a hut!" "No one can stand to watch this!"
Y/N shot back in response. "At least I have something going on and don't stare at the people I like from afar because I'm too shy to approach them" The statement went straight to the ego of the two. Miles pressed his lips together in a thin line and Lo'ak stood with his eyes lowered to the ground, stroking the back of his head with his hand in shame. Even though the comment wasn't directly aimed at Neteyam, his body still stiffened and his ears automatically laid back. He suddenly felt warm as Y/N let go of him and looked up at him with a sly smile. He also let out a small laugh and asked the others, "Do you want to go now? Or are you guys just going to stand here stupid all day?"
The boys regained their composure and set off to finally get going. On the way to the mountains, they passed a river that they had to cross. The river itself was relatively deep but there were enough stones in the water to cross it safely. Nevertheless, Neteyam was worried about Y/N. And offered her to carry her. She reassured him, however, and instead took his finger in her hand to signal to him that she took his concern for her seriously. Because of the size difference, his hand was at least twotimes bigger than hers and she could barely get her hand around it to really hold on, so she always closed her hand around one of his long fingers. He liked the size difference, he thought it was almost cute that he could just carry her around all the time like Tuktirey. She's almost as tall as a small Na'vi child. Lo'ak also liked to take advantage of this difference, abusing Y/N's head as an arm rest when they stood side by side. Nete, on the other hand, did not like this at all and whenever he noticed his little brother resting his arm on her again, he said that it was humiliating and that he should stop. However, Lo'ak did not listen to his brother and he had to experience the consequence on his own body, when Neteyam hit him on the back of the head.
Since it was the first time for her to go to the Hallelujah Mountains, she was often distracted by new plants she had never seen before. She stopped one more time to observe a huge flower that had large pinkish purple leaves and in its center, what looked like small turquoise feelers that moved on their own. The feelers also seemed to sense her presence and were now moving in her direction. Y/N knelt on the ground and the first thought that crossed her mind was to reach out to the plant. The small antennae-like formations immediately wrapped themselves around her hand. It tickled and she began to giggle. She was mesmerized again, for what she had heard from Norm, there were no such plants on earth that seemed to have a mind of their own. She pulled her hand back to herself and reached directly into her satchel and pulled out a small black notebook in which she entered all of her new discoveries. It was a birthday present from Max for her last birthday.
As if in her own world, she didn't even notice that the others had already run ahead and were almost out of sight. Spider and Lo'ak had already reached the end of the forest and the cliffs where the roots grew that served as a connection to the mountains. Only Neteyam noticed that one person from the small group was missing. He stopped abruptly when he noticed this and turned in all directions to catch sight of the small human somewhere. When he saw the bordeaux shirt among the flowers, he immediately knew what was going on. Y/N had once again been distracted by her curiosity. He walked back a little bit. She didn't notice him until his huge shadow fell in over her. "Why did I know I'd probably find you here?" he said, crossing his arms over his chest. She turned to face him, squinting her eyes as the sun blinded her. "You know me all too well, don't you? You can go on back to the others. I'll be done here in a minute, you don't have to wait."
The young Na'vi refused to be talked into it, because after all, Y/N was important to him, and besides, his father would skin him alive if he didn't bring her back to Norm. Nete knew she was a strong fighter for a human, but still she is a human and weaker and smaller than most animals in the woods. And if he is honest with himself, he is in a way interested in what she wrote down in her little book and what else she had to say about her new discovery. He liked to watch her eyes grow and sparkle when she learned something new or when he and his siblings told her a story.
And her smile, which always danced on her lips, was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Even more breathtaking than the sky mountains, even more beautiful than the luminous plants at night, and even more enchanting than Vitraya Ramunong, the tree of souls he had once seen at a ceremony.
Sometimes he wondered if she found him as fascinating. He was, after all, a Na'vi, an inhabitant of Pandora. Exactly what she loved to learn about. Moreover, she also saw him as his own person. Not, like all the others as Neteyam, the son of the great Toruk Makto, the next Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya, the oldest Sully boy, the great warrior who killed a sturmbeest with one shot during his first great hunt. No, she saw in him the loyal, cautious and thoughtful young man who always put his own feelings and needs second, preferring to take care of his family. Not like his father, who saw him as a soldier, as the golden, perfect son. The way Jake wanted him to be. She was the first person to ask him how he was doing when he was having a bad day and if he wanted to talk about it. She was always so accommodating to him. He didn't know why such a wonderful person would bother to make time for him. Y/N was a perfect creature in his eyes. How could anyone not like her? When he laid in his bed at night, he thanked Eywa over and over again for letting him get to know her. And when he thought about her in his sleepless nights, sometimes the thought crossed his mind if he liked her more than just a friend. But he always banished this thought quickly. Y/N was not a Na'vi like him and he was not human, that would never be a good match. Spider was a human, her and him would fit together perfectly.
His own thought alone made him angry, almost jealous. Just like now, when he was just thinking about it again. His face contorted and he furrowed his eyebrows. Only Y/N's voice and her waving hand in front of his body pulled him out of his imaginations. "What's the matter with you? Is everything okay?" There it was again. The little questions about how he was doing. He just shook his head to get out of the trance and reached out his hand to help her up.
"Come on, let's go," he replied as the human girl pulled herself together. She didn't understand why he suddenly radiated such a strange aura. Just a few seconds before everything was fine and now he was acting like he was possessed by something. Y/N thought that maybe he was just annoyed, after all he had surely imagined his day differently. Neteyam walked with long steps in front of Y/N, so that she could hardly follow and had to walk three steps faster to keep up. Arriving at the roots, they continued on their way. While Miles and Lo'ak jumped like small children from root to root and hardly paid attention to the fact that they could possibly fall several miles into the depth or into their death.
Y/N, on the other hand, hesitated for a moment to even set foot on the moss-covered root. Maybe it was not such a good idea to come along. Would it have been better to stay with the clan? And rather to help Kiri with whatever she was doing? What would happen if she slipped? She would hardly survive it and dying was clearly not an option for her at her young age. Y/N didn't know what else to think, but a big hand on her shoulder grounded her back into the here and now.
"I'm going to stay behind you. You don't have to be afraid. Go real slow" Nete reassured her. "Thank you, thank you for alwasy helping me" Y/N cheeks were blushing now too just like Neteyam earlier when they hugged. The Na'vi in front of her interpreted this as just a sign of nervousness and excitement, it was her first time balancing at such a height without a ground under her. Slowly but surely she put her foot down. She took few steps and quickly realized that she didn't need to be afraid. The moss was relatively dry, as it hadn't rained in days. In addition, the wooden root seemed larger than she first thought.
She turned to her friend and smiled at him. "It's not as bad as I thought!" The other two boys stopped from a distance and called over. " Come on, now. The Ikrans are already waiting for us!" Neteyam walked right behind her, for once taking small steps to make sure she put one foot in front of the other safely. He was sure that she would make it without him, but the red discoloration on her face and the beads of sweat that slowly formed under her mask made him kinda worry.
Arrived at the mountains now began another hurdle. The climbing. She was not a newcomer to the subject but the path just now had already taken some of her strength. Lo'ak and his big brother jumped up with ease and grabbed hold of the stone outcroppings. Miles was still waiting below with Y/N. "Come on I'll help you up" he said, crouching down and carefully stretching his arms out in front of him with his hands on top of each other. He helped her with the robber ladder to get a good head start. She put her foot in his hand and with momentum Miles went up from his knees and Y/N grabbed hold of the nearest rock.
Finally reaching the top, the small group was already a little out of breath. This didn't last long because the Irkans started to screech when they noticed the presence in their territory. Y/N was startled, it was not new for her to see Ikrans up close, but so many at once and then in their territory? That was a little scary at first. She didn't know how they would react if she kept moving, but as she looked to her foster brother who kept walking in a crouched state, Y/N did too. If Miles didn't need to be afraid as a human, neither did she. Rising to her feet, she only now noticed the remarkable view.
It was a totally different perspective of Pandora. From here, you could see the whole planet. You could even see one end of the forest and the beginning of the sea. It was simply breathtaking and she regretted not taking her camera with her. The Ikrans themselves were a stunning view from up close. It was colorful and noisy. A completely different world.
The two brothers called for their Ikrans with a very specific call that has been used by the natives for centuries. The brightly colored animals flew towards them at full speed, slowing down only when their claws began to touch the ground. Lo'ak was the first to walk up to his Ikran and stroke it over its head. He connected with his braid to the Ikran and straddled it. Spider followed as the boy with the shorter braids extended his hand to him. Neteyam followed next and greeted it as well with a touch to its neck. Then he mounted his beastly companion and petted him one more time.
Y/N followed him and climbed on the huge winged creature. They flew over the vast expanses of nature for some time until an a tiny building could be spotted from far away. It was an old camp of the Sky People, which had already fallen down over the years and due to the war. The group landed and immediately jumped off to explore the area. Miles and Y/N now saw another extent of the greed and destruction of their own species. The young woman's stomach churned at the sight and she felt like she was about to throw up. She could never have imagined what this place must have looked like a decade ago. She was ashamed of her kind. Was it so hard not to destroy what was not theirs? Couldn't they have approached the matter more diplomatically? Most of all, she felt sorry for the natives - what terrible things they had to endure. They lived here in peace and then came the horrors in spaceships. A tear ran down her cheek at the thought.
`Teyam went into the old shattered metal building first, through a broken window, to make sure there were no dangers inside. He then burst open the door from the inside and let the three others in. Lo'ak and the human boy were intrigued in the things left here. In the building there were still old plans left by the humans, strategically showing how it was simplest to drive out the natives and cut down the forests to get to the precious goods under the soil. Theses things were probably lying around there just as they had been 15 years ago. The older Na'vi was not interested in that, so he stood at the door and watched the scenery in front of him. Y/N only got worse the rest of the time. She felt the pure pain. The pain of the fallen and breathing even under the mask was difficult for her. "I-I have to get out of here," she said in an irritated tone and sped forward to the entrance. Miles turned to her and looked at her with a confused look, but she didn't notice and continued to run outside. Nete watched her come out of the building. "Are you all right?" He raised his hand to try to touch her, but she just turned away from him. "Yeah yeah, I just need to get out of here for a minute, this is all too much for me."
He noticed that she didn't let herself be diverted from her plans, and he let her off on her own. "Don't run so far away, though, will you? We don't know if there are any dangerous animals around.“ Her head went on autopilot and she ran and ran and ran. Y/N didn't even pay attention to how far away she was from the abandoned camp. She decided to stop after another two minutes of running. She put her hands together behind her head and let out a long tearful sigh. She couldn't believe it. She didn't want to believe it. She wanted to deny it, but the evidence was right in front of her. It was just like the stories Norm and Jake told her, but personally seeing the aftermath only made the tales worse. When she came back down, she decided to go back, but something was different. She didn't even know exactly where she was at first. She just went into the depths of the forest without paying attention to anything.
And then there was this loud cracking sound. Her whole body froze. She hoped it was just the others checking on her. But her hope was quickly shattered when she saw that it was not her friends, but a large black creature. A thanator. One of the most dangerous predators in the Pandoran wilderness. She wanted to scream, but couldn't and her body decided to flee. Y/N started running through the embankment, over rocks and roots sticking out of the ground. Fortunately, she did not fall, so she only ran faster. As far as her feet could carry her. In her life-and-death run, she spotted a hollowed-out tree trunk that offered a possible hiding place. She changed direction and ran to it, crawling into one of the openings.
Her heart was beating like crazy in her chest. Supposedly safe in her hiding place, she tried to catch her breath and regulate it so she wouldn't give herself away to the Predator. She heard the loud footsteps circling her and prayed to Eywa to spare her, but it was probably too late for that. She clearly should have stayed home.
The footsteps grew quieter to the point where they could no longer be heard at all. Y/N thought the thanator had lost her trail and was now looking for a new victim. But this was not the case, as she thought the area was clear, she crawled to the opening and stuck her head out to make sure. Suddenly a claw came at her from above with and almost caught her. In the last second she could pull her head back. Now she was trapped. No one else was near her and calling for help would probably only make the animal more aggressive. The claw now struck another time and broke through the tree trunk. Splinters fell in all directions and Y/N didn't know what to do. She had to look death in the eye. On all fours she now scrambled in the other direction to escape as fast as possible. Just when she managed to flee from her prison and was standing on her two feet again, the thanator lunged again and caught her with its claws on her back. She cried out loudly in pain and fell to the ground with a jolt. Something in her body, in her head, however, told her that it wasn't time to give up yet. Despite the pain and the blood running down her back, she ran. The most important thing was to get out of here.
She ran, hoping to arrive at the old base. After some time, she spotted the building and screamed for her life. Neteyam saw Y/N sprinting in his direction and the next thing he noticed was a Thanator chasing her. "Inside, Nete run inside and hide!" she screamed one more time. As she crossed the threshold, her legs gave way as well and she crawled under a table with the others. Neteyam quickly locked the door, but forgot about the broken window through which he entered in the first place. The thanator struggled to squeeze through the pane and cut themself several times on the sharp shards of glass. This did not stop it from trying further, however. "You're hurt," Lo'ak stated, touching the fresh wound on Y/N's back. She hissed in pain and he quickly withdrew his hand. Neteyam in the meantime had drawn his bow from his back and did the only thing he could think of at the moment. He reached for an arrow from his quiver and aimed with precision at the head of the beast. Since the first arrow alone didn't reach through the animal's thick skull, he tried another time and, with a hiss and flattened ears, this time aimed for the neck. With a swing, he pulled the arrow back and let it go. This time he had managed to successfully eliminate the danger. The black beast slumped in on itself and then hung motionless between the window. Neteyam breathed heavily, adrenaline surged through his veins and his facial expression settled down. His ears perked up when he heard Y/N's painful whimpering.
He rushed towards her and crouched down on eyelevel. She was sweating heavily and cried. "What happened?" `Teyam could only ask. Miles had panicked himself and was already imagining the telling off he would receive when they got back home. "I-I just wanted to get out of here for a minute b-because everything was getting to be too much for me a-and then all of a sudden this thing came. I tried to hide, but it didn't work, and then-n I was attacked," she let out through her tears, clinging to Neteyam. He wanted to hug her tightly, but the wound prevented him from doing so. "I told you it was a stupid idea to come here, Lo'ak."
"How could I have known that a thanator would show up here and attack us?"
"Dad, told you this area was off limits. Can't you listen for once?"
"That's as much your fault as it is mine and Miles. You could have tried to stop us from coming here or at least stopped Y/N from running away."
Both brothers started arguing and it looked like it wouldn't stop for a long time. Spider interrupted them both worried about his foster sister. " I don't give a shit who's to blame for this whole thing right now. Y/N is hurt and needs help right now. Get over yourselves, you two thick heads." Neteyam turned away from his younger brother with a snarl and shook his head. He took the still crying Y/N into his arms and tried to calm her down. "It's okay, it's going to be okay. We'll take you to my grandmother Mo'at now and I'm sure she'll help you. I promise."
"I just want to go home, `Teyam" she replied, stroking his cheek. They did not hesitate to immediately make their way to the Ikrans. The older Na'vi first put Y/N on and then connected himself. The Ikran took off with a screech and they went on their way home, as he had promised her.

"Do I have paint on my face?"
Xavier Thorpe x reader
Synopsis: Xavier let's you study in his art shed while he is painting.
I made a little mixtape for this small blurb and all the xavier simps out there. Also, I have left the end of the story open, so that everyone can imagine how it continues. I hope you like it.
Warnings: none
Xavier invited you to his shed to study in peace because your roommate can't seem to shut up about their new crush.
At first he was hesitant, after all it's his safe place but after seeing your disheveled state as you tried to find a quiet spot, he took you in.
Now you're sitting at his desk and he's working on a new painting while one of his playlists is playing in the background. Only now there's a different kind of problem.
You found the perfect place to study but now something else seems to be distracting you, or rather someone else. You just can't take your eyes off him anymore and watch him. How he moves, how concentrated he works on his new project, how he bites his lip to think about where to put the next brush stroke. Your eyes kept wandering and literally fixated on his lips.
Suddenly the silence between the two of you was interrupted when he said, "Do I have paint on my face? Or why are you staring at me like that?" The tone he used was not meant sarcastically, as he always talks to you but rather in a teasing tone. Then he turned to face you. "What? Cat got your tongue?" He laughed softly and took a few steps towards you until he was standing right in front of the desk looking down at you.

Do you Love Me?
Note- Once again, it’s 3Am as I finish this. So I apologize for the many grammar mistakes. Also, this was greatly inspired by The great (hulu), come on Aegon gives off Peter vibes
Pairing: Soft dark!Aegon II Targaryen x reader x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Tags: EXPLICIT/SMUT, Arranged marriage, character deaths, strangely some fluff, lots of angst, pregnant!reader, Aegon is a terrible husband at first, squint of Jace/reader, love confessions, manipulation, jealousy, implied painful first time
You worshiped the prince. And how could you not? He was young, handsome, and, as mentioned, a prince. Every girl in the seven kingdoms dreamed of him. But he was yours by oath. And when you finally saw him on your wedding day, it was the happiest moment of your life.
Your arms were linked with your father’s. Feeling your heart pound in your chest. Stomach churned with excitement. When you finally reached the altar, your father handed you to the Prince. And the second his hand touched yours, the butterflies in your stomach violently clashed with one another.
In the sight of gods and men. The prince will become yours. And you will be his. Your eyes didn’t look away from his violet ones, wanting to drown yourself in them. They are so alluring that the Septon’s words are muddled in your ears. But you didn’t need to hear them. Memorizing the vows by heart. As you recited them to the mirror every other day. One heart, one flesh, one soul.
After the vows were said, you and the prince sat side by side. The servant on his side poured wine into his cup throughout the entire night. He didnt speak to you. He didn’t even ask you to dance. Watching all the other lords and ladies surrounding you laugh and dance with one another.
His face turns to you on occasion and you smile at him every time. He didn’t return them. Maybe he was nervous. You hoped he was so you wouldn’t feel that slight pang. To distract yourself, your eyes roamed the remaining table, seeing his family. His grandfather, his mother, his sister, his brothers were all there. You couldn’t help but notice the shared look they gave you. In return, you continued smiling, even when you sensed it slowly faltering.
Soon it was the wedding night. And the excitement bubbled once more. You remembered your times at the library back home. You were a lady, and it was a scandalous thing to do, but you indulged your curiosities. Reading such shameful books that your Septa would’ve certainly had you flocked if she ever heard of it.
The pleasure, the desire, the yearning, the burning, the ecstasy all written in such detail. And the men in the stories. They were so selfless and giving. Meeting her every need, making her see the stars and the moon. The thought of doing all of those things with the prince crossed your mind more times than you can count. It made you ashamed, but should you be, knowing he’ll be yours someday.
But on that night, he tarnished your dreams.
