•”Couldn’t let my favorite murderer rot away in some jail cell.”

•…That was oddly flattering.

•Billy looked down at their hands. Gloves, he could make out, from the brief light of the moon above them. “What’s with the gloves?”

•They looked at Billy as if he was being ignorant on purpose. “No fingerprints. Makes it harder for the cops to catch you.”

•”We gotta go. Don’t want anyone else to get the drop on you, right?”

•”Right.”

•And when law enforcement eventually arrived in that alley, no one was there.
