Reviving this account to boost this poll. Scion is a game I've read, played, and run, and it's very near and dear to me.
And I'm writing on an as-of-yet-unreleased book for the line, so that's neat.
Have you played SCION ?
By White Wolf (1st edition) / Onyx Path Publishing (2nd edition)
Tumblr media
Playing humans blessed by or born from the Gods who can eventually ascend to join their ranks. Urban fantasy, but 2e noticeably lacks a masquerade - the fantasy elements are known to the World’s population.
In a world much like ours but not, Priests of a temple of Ra go out for coffee, as followers of Dionysius post pictures of their wine offerings on social media as kids take turns pretending to be Baron Samedi and Quetzalcoatl during recess. The gods of the old world still preside and watch over their people, seeking their worship and answering their prayers but an ancient foe has escaped from their prison. The Titans, the primordial beings of destruction and chaos have returned. The Gods cannot come down to The World and fight back against the evil Titans that plague their followers, less they be victims of fate, changing their legends and fates forever, instead they call out to their descendants. You, a Scion of the gods. You may of been born between your divine parent and a mortal, maybe you were chosen by that god, maybe the god created and bestowed life to you, or perhaps you are the human reincarnation of a forgotten god. As a Scion, you take your divine parent’s place and restore order to The World while also building your own legend, developing divine powers, gaining followers and earning a place in your pantheon. You grow and learn from your humble Origin, to becoming a Hero to mortals, then being recognized as a Demigod and finally achieving the godhead and becoming a God. Can you fight back against the Titans and fate?

Pokemon Sword & Shield Theory
So I got Pokemon Sword (love it) and I’m going through my Gym Challenge, when something clicks in my brain.
Very moderate spoilers for Pokemon Sword and Shield in that it reveals a Gym Leader, so more details below the cut.
So! Let’s focus on one Gym Leader in particular.
Tumblr media
This is Kobu, the third Gym Leader. He’s a cool dude, a bit serious, but that’s less important. The two important things about Kobu are:
He’s not from the Galar region. He actually immigrated from the Hoenn region.
If his outfit weren’t a giveaway, he primarily uses Fire-types.
Now, Hoenn... And Fire-Types. Long-time fans may recognize what I’m getting at here.
Tumblr media
THIS is Flannery, the Gym Leader of Lavaridge Town. We know a few things about her.
She’s a Fire-Type user.
Gym Leading is a family profession. She herself took over from either her father or her grandfather.
Again, Hoenn.
Now admittedly the timelines don’t add up for Kabu to be Flannery’s grandfather, in fact since Sun and Moon takes place a decade after Gen 1 with Gen 3 taking place about two years after Gen 1... He could be her father, if he had her while young, or maybe an older brother.
But I swear the fact that the Fire Gym Leader is specifically from Hoenn can’t be a coincidence!

Written by Stephanie Brown, the only BatFam member with any sense of self-preservation
In Bruce’s defense, anyone who blames him for putting his children in the line of fire does not like…get his children.
Bruce adopting and training these kids is absolutely the only thing standing between them and even EARLIER deaths than the ones in canon that they all basically just…refuse to let stick.
Like, these are six incredibly determined little dumbasses.
Dick Grayson: breaks out of juvie and runs around rooftops tracking down the mob boss that ordered his parents killed in order to ruthlessly avenge them when he’s EIGHT.
Jason Todd: at age twelve, is caught stealing the tires off the goddamn BATMOBILE and upon being caught, his first instinct is NOT flight, its HIT THE GODDAMN BATMAN WITH HIS TIRE IRON.
Tim Drake: as early as age ten, spends his free time running around Gotham’s rooftops and back alleys stalking Batman and Robin with his clunky camera and absolutely no prior experience or training in either acrobatics or surviving Gotham’s back alleys.
Cassandra Cain: Upon learning Lady Shiva is her mother, ignores Batman yelling CASSANDRA NO and tracks down the most lethal and feared woman on the planet and bullies her into training her further, with Shiva going okay but then we gotta battle to the death and Cassandra going sure, makes sense, when do we start.
Damian Wayne: Early in life, is ordered to hunt and fight a bunch of dragon-type creatures. Adopts one as his pet. Finally meets his father, who does not trust him. Steals the Batmobile. Is fired from Robin and forbidden to leave the Manor for his protection while there’s a hit on his life. Calls himself Redbird and resumes Robin duties, citing that he was only forbidden from leaving as ROBIN, specifically. Is sent home during an attack on the city by a zombie army. Turns around and wades into the zombie army on his own. Etc, etc.
Duke Thomas: At age ten, the Riddler shuts down all the power in Gotham and says he’ll only restore it if bested with a riddle. Duke hears this and decides, this is a job for…Duke Thomas. Around age fifteen, he’s put in the foster system after his parents are affected by the Joker’s mind-altering gas during an attack, hears that some of the Joker’s victims have been found wandering around the sewer system that’s noted for being home to like….a cannibalistic crocodile villain, among other things, thinks well, guess I gotta go personally cover every inch of Gotham’s sewers on my own, by foot. Accidentally stumbles across a plot to bomb all of Gotham and decides, this is a job for…Duke Thomas. Etc, etc.
In summation, the Batkids’ shared family trait is Absolute Dumbassery and a Willful Disregard for Self-Preservation, and no, they do not accept constructive criticism. Bruce’s training them all as his partners was 40% fatalism, 60% Hail Mary.
He actually tried getting Dick to choose colors for his costume that would actually blend into the shadows, and eight year old Dick went nah, I’m gonna stick with bright red, yellow and green, thanks though.
He actually tried teaching Jason Todd how to prioritize speed and evasion against bigger opponents, and 5′4″ Jason Todd went nah, I’m just gonna punch ‘em, thanks though.
He actually tried sending Tim home when Tim first showed up, and Tim went nah, I’m just not gonna do that, thanks though.
He actually tried getting Cassandra to be more careful and selective about inserting herself into every single dangerous situation she came across, and Cass went, sorry, lost my phone when I weaponized it against the bad guys and also I’m in Hong Kong right now about to face off with my killer mom, see ya when I get back, bye.
He actually tried benching Damian repeatedly, and Damian went, LOL. No.
He actually tried stressing to Duke the importance of leaving dangerous situations to the professionals, and Duke kept showing up at every dangerous situation in Gotham and being like oh hey, so weird we keep running into each other.
Every time another adult hero clucks at Bruce disapprovingly and says he really should’ve kept his kids out of the hero life, Bruce’s eye twitches and he grinds out: “Oh gee. If only I’d thought of that.”

Deku:
Wears green
Smashes things
Is incredibly polite
Has a silly haircut
Clearly Midoriya is Rock Lee.
Some comparisons between My Hero Academia and Naruto are fair…
BUT MIDORIYA IS NOT A GREEN NARUTO.
MIDORIYA IS A GOOD BOY.
HOW DARE YOU.

Even if you can see in the dark, I wager you can’t make out colors with your night vision due to less light. Ilia made the shadows stronger and starker, and changed colors to blend into the darkness. It wasn’t about literally blinding Blake, it was about making it harder to pick out the dark figure moving in the dark background.
Blake can probably see far better in the dark than a human, but she doesn’t have like, thermal vision.
FAUNUS HAVE NIGHT VISION
FAUNUS HAVE NIGHT VISION.
Unless that cameleon trait protects you from “NIGHT VISION.”
i am severely disappointed. Ive heen waiting a battle in pitchblack or some in darkness..
But wtf.
Ugh
*if i am wrong about this whole nightvsion and cameleon cloaking, explain

Honestly there’s all of three people I’d say it’s Not Okay to ship Blake with.
-Either parent
-Adam, barring Adam’s character being entirely rewritten to make him NOT be a monster.
Hey Guys, You Know What?
- I ship Blake/Sun. - I ship Blake/Ilia. - I ship Blake/Weiss. - I ship Blake/Yang. - I ship Blake/Torchwick. - I ship Blake/Jaune. - I ship Blake/Ruby. - I ship Blake/Velvet.
And you know what else?
It’s okay to ship Blake with any of them and more.
You know what else else?
It’s okay to not ship her with any of them too.
You know what else else ELSE?
It’s NOT okay to be a dick to others about who they ship.

household memes. memes that only make sense to the people you live with.
for example, in my house: saying ‘ew’ in a monotone voice, slapping your leg and saying “iiiiiii know it!” and the other person replies “well that’s just it.”
reblog with your household memes in the comments or tags

Adding on: Please recall that there’s a hierarchy of What Is Canon To Overwatch, and the game itself is not at the top.
It goes like...
Theatrical Shorts --> Comics --> Stuff They Say On Twitter --> Game Exchanges --> [A few more steps] --> Fan Theories
Example!
If you think about it, there’s really no realistic way that Mei would know anything about Junkrat’s hidden treasure, and yet it’s in the game, IIRC.
Another one is that apparently, any exchange between Reaper and an Overwatch Found who knows that Reaper is Reyes? Unless that someone is Ana or Jack, that ain’t canon. So Reinhardt following up a Reaper Kill with “That’s what you get, traitor”? McCree sassing Reaper? Yeah, not canon, as only Jack and Ana know who Reaper really is.
98% of the time, the “overwatch’s lore and timeline is full of inconsistencies and makes no sense” narrative boils down to “you’re assuming something you were never actually given a reason to assume” or “something in an update contradicts a piece of fanon you mistook for canon”

Weren’t there at least SOME versions of the myth where the whole Persephone thing is more of ELOPING rather than kidnapping, and the ‘rape’ was mostly because at the time neither had the approval of Demeter? IDK, I’m not 100% on my Greek Mythology.
Though yeah, when it comes to the Cosmic Scale of Greek God Dickery... Hades was hardly the worst.
Honestly using Hades as the villain for every greek mythology story because he happens to rule over the afterlife would be like if 3000 years from now they made a bunch of Justice League movies where Batman was the villain because he has the darkest costume

THANK YOU
I really hate it when people confuse the terms “Canon”, “Headcanon” and “Alternate Universe”.
“Canon”: Something that has been outright been stated in canon outside of a joke, in a way that unambiguously means this exact thing and nothing else.
“Headcanon”: It was never unambiguously specified in canon, but I interpret this on my own in a way that goes along with canon without contradicting it.
“Alternate Universe”: My game, my rules.
They are not interchangeable terms.

Echoing this. I mean, seriously. I always said that My Immortal needed to be put in some kind of archive or library collection, for one reason or another, depending on its origin.
1. If the fic was sincere, it deserved to be preserved as a perfect example of what fanfiction of the time was like. Like, if you look at what fanfiction was like back in the days of My Immortal, then you have a fic that SO PERFECTLY demonstrates what fanfiction of that era was about that it should be preserved.
2. If the fic was a trollfic... It should be preserved for being the single most brilliant piece of satire on fanfiction as a whole I have ever read. Like, I hesitate to call something genius, but as a trollfic, My Immortal is genius.
Turns out that even back then, Ms Christo was a writing genius and apparently a great actress for the Author’s Notes. Bravo to her.
why is everyone so disappointed to learn my immortal was a troll fic? i’m glad to hear it. just the amount of craftsmanship put into this awful, awful parody. it’s beautiful. a masterpiece. a modern legend. and as an added plus, i no longer have to live with the fear that poking fun at the fic could be hurting someone’s actual feelings, who in this case would be a teenage girl just trying to write some self insert fic and getting yelled at by the ugliest parts of the web. instead, i just get to laugh at this awesome parody that is actually genuinely hilarious and charming, with the full knowledge that it’s meant to be laughed at! like, just how much better does that make the whole thing? to me, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT BETTER.
