It kind of annoys me how mating bonds have lost all meaning. At the start it was this magical bond that reveals the one person that will always love and protect you, you’d rather die than hurt them, someone who understands you and genuinely cares for you. Now it’s a random name picker.

The mate bond will drive you to kill to protect your mate but Nesta is threatened with harm and death and cassian does nothing.

The mate bond is the equivalent of hinge telling you they think your compatible with someone because you both like sza.

no but really, let’s talk about it. i’ve always regarded this with anger, both at the shield and the way it was presented as a good compromise, but now i’m highkey horrified, like deathly scared, horrified because this is……. it’s sense deprivation of a pregnant person, who was touch starved for a good majority of her developmental years. I’ve seen at least four separate posts today saying tamlin didn’t abuse feyre today because he didn’t physically hit her and it’s worrying.

In my defence I was thirteen when it came out and had no real interest in plot I just wanted to read about Aelin burning things. I also saw him as the Matt Donovan of the series, the human who somehow survived everything with no pizazz.

The Inner Circle have the audacity to judge Nesta for not hunting and instead letting Feyre do it when they havent done anything for the Night Court in 400 years.

At the start of a court of silver flames Nesta having sex is a bad thing and she’s a bad person for having it…

Feyre having sexual thoughts and actions towards rhysand before knowing they are mates is okay and liberating. Screwing on an active battlefield and over the streets of a city is okay too.

I don’t know how to articulate it so I may come back and add to this but how the standards change to benefit rhysand’s or the inner court’s control over nesta doesn’t sit well with me. Sex only becomes a problem when it doesn’t serve them.

They are one step away from screaming whore and branding her with the scarlet letter.
