At first you suspected that poachers had hunted in the protected area. However, poachers would usually take the antlers and leave the rest of the animal behind. You never found any carcasses of the deer you tagged. It was like something had eaten them whole.
Maybe it was a new invasive species decimating the food chain. You weren’t sure but you had to find something. The deer species was already endangered and your funding depended on the population in the area. Law enforcement and forest rangers hadn’t been any help to you, so you decided to survey the area yourself.
The first few days are uneventful. There's nothing unusual or undocumented in the area, just you and nature. Although occasionally you’d have the feeling something was watching you just out of sight. But you find no evidence and decide you’re just being paranoid. At least until you find snakeskin near your campsite.
It’s not unusual to find snakeskin due to the snake population in the area. But what concerns you is the sheer size. The length is easily bigger than you and the width is almost the size of your torso. It shouldn’t be possible for a snake of this size to occur in nature, let alone right next to your campsite. Every instinct you have is screaming at you to run as you collect the skin for evidence. No one will believe you unless you have something physical to show. Despite your shaking hands you finish up and head out until you spot someone in the distance.
A man appears to be sitting behind a log ahead of you. He doesn't seem to notice you yet so you take a moment to observe him. He doesn’t seem like a threat but despite the chilly weather he doesn’t wear anything on his torso. There's no homes nearby. Maybe he’s lost?
“Sir?” He turns his head towards you. Something about his golden eyes seem unnatural. “Are you lost? Do you need me to call someone for you?” You take a step toward him and he gets up. You freeze. Instead of seeing legs as he gets up, his torso blends into a dark tan tail. This had to be some kind of sick joke. This shouldn’t be possible. But the long tail matches the snakeskin in your bag. When he slowly creeps towards you, you turn and run in the opposite direction. There’s no time to think about where you’re going. Your lungs burn as your feet hit the ground and all you can hear is the sound of leaves crunching behind you. For a moment you think you make it, but you feel a crushing grip on your ankle.
You scream out in pain as fall, your shoulder taking the brunt of the impact. When you turn you see his slit like pupils staring at you with curiosity. Your free foot makes contact with his face but he doesn’t even react. You feel his tail slowly wrap its way around you, decreasing any chances of escape. You aren’t sure if he understands, but you beg for him to let you go.
“Please don’t eat me” You can’t even move your arms anymore, you’re completely trapped. “I won’t tell anyone about this!” You feel his breath across your face as he eyes you.

Part one:
Igbris only observes you in the beginning. He hadn’t been interested in humans before he met you, but everything you do is captivating to him. He watches in fascination as you sweep and decorate the temple. He knows some of his siblings have taken up human lovers but he’s never had any interest before. As a God of Death he only dealt with endless numbers of human souls but never felt fascinated until you.

He does attempt to appear friendlier to you as days go on. The first time he watches you smile after gifting a flower, it's like the world stops. Slowly you warm up to him. You seek him out for conversations, ask him for help repairing the temple, and bring him small gifts. Everything is going according to plan.
At least until some idiot from your village attempts to take you back home. Igbris is overjoyed when you refuse them, but his rage builds. How dare they try to take you away from him? They didn’t deserve you. That's fine. As the God of Death, Igbris knows what he has to do. A new soul awaits him in his domain.

As you care for him the next couple weeks he slowly falls for you. It’s not just the fact you saved him. It’s the way you look at him with joy when your healing magic works. When you speak to him like an old friend and not a bloodthirsty killer. Or when you touch his hand when checking on him.
He’s been fighting for so long he’s forgotten what a connection with someone else feels like. Once the deep gashes on his chest heals, he becomes possessive. He sees himself as protecting you from the dangers of the world. You see it as unnecessary when he follows you into town. His presence is hard to ignore and he scares off some of the usual villagers that speak with you.
You gently tell him he should head back home to his family. He gives you a blank stare. He overstays his welcome but you can’t get rid of him. It’s not like you can force him out. The man’s built like a wall. Last time you tried to shove him out of your home he didn’t move. He ignores you and continues to watch you with admiration.
You saved him when everyone else abandoned him. You’re a lifeline, and he refuses to let you go.

This isn’t a request but I have a question, do you write for male or gn readers? I was trying to find a rule post or you might have but I couldn’t find it and I read one of the yandere prince scenarios thinking that it was gn and it wasn’t and it made me feel a little bit of gender dysphoria because I’m trans male and don’t really like to remember my birth gender, but yea I just wanted to ask that.
I don't write for male readers but I do write for gn readers. I should have wrote if the scenario was for a female or gn reader in the description. I'll make sure to do that for future posts!
