Happy Pride Month!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I haven't been posting anything recently, been busy with school and life in general, but I should start posting after exams are done. Until I can add more, here's a first look at Finch and Raven, two LGBTQ+ characters from 'Guardians', my current Book in Progress

Just realised I never made a proper introduction, so here we go!
My name is Lua, a.k.a. writers_story_block, and I am a 17 year old up and coming writer.
I am currently working on my first book, which I have titled Guardians, and I hope to have it published in 2022! I'll be using this blog to document my journey, and it would be an honour to have you join me!

So I thought I’d set out some tips for helping any fellow writers with their writing today. The following list is a couple of things I like to do to help me improve my writing!
1. Read, read, and read some more
I know that for some of you this might go without saying, and from my experience most writers enjoy some form of reading whether it’s novels, fanfiction, manga, graphic novels etc. I am no exception, from a young age, I’ve always been a mega bookworm! However, nowadays when I read, I try to read the book like it’s a piece of my own writing. What do I like/not like about it? What do I think about the characters? Are they believable? What makes the protagonists act the way they do? What about the antagonists? What do I think of the worldbuilding? This never fails to help with my writing because then I can easily identify what I want to include (or not include) in my own stories!
2. Find and Understand New Words!
When you’re going about your day, make note of any new words you hear and make sure to search up their definitions! Like this you can gather a wider range of vocabulary to use in your writing and trust me, your writing will benefit from it. The more words you gather, the less repetition you’ll face in your writing. So find new words and save ‘em for later!
3. Get Yourself Comfortable
Maybe this one goes without saying, but I find that if I’m in an uncomfortable position it becomes all but impossible to write so much as a word. So find the most comfortable position to sit in. I like to sit at a table (or on the computer), but on my lazier days I like to sit back in my bed. An extra tip: make sure you have back support of some sort, so you don’t twist your spine out of shape until it looks more like a helter-skelter than a vital part of your skeleton.
4. Write as Often as you can!
If I don’t force myself to write, then I’ll never write anything at all. Even if you’re uninspired, open up your writing or a blank page, and get something down on paper! If you’re really struggling, then why not simply write out some notes or planning? If I’m really atruggling to write then I update the notes I have on characters, worldbuilding, plot ideas etc.
5. Find Someone Else to Read your Writing
I know how difficult this one might be, especially if you’ve never let anyone so much as glance at your work. For about 12 years of my life I’d hiss like a gremlin and wrap my arms protectively around my writing rather than let someone read it. But last year two of my friends read over my current story and lemme tell you, it helped me enormously. They left tips, comments, ideas and general reactions and I got a good idea of what a reader would think ir feel while reading my book. I already have loads of adjustments to make thanks to them, and it really does help to have someone to rant to when you can’t make a scene work quite the way you wanted it to.
I hope this helps someone out there, even just a little bit! If anyone wants to add tips of their own please do! :)
