its getting too boring here lets start a fight. whats the character you Most Hate in the series i want to hear essays. entire paragraphs. anything
#I dont think Ivypool having kits was any more bigoted than any other main lady having kits#like obv the all women having kids is shitty. and the focus on giving everyone a heterosexual relationship also is shit#but I dont. think ivy having a mate and kits is like this horrible lesbophobic thing or inherently more misogynistic than any other case#We see Ivy's pov when she is a child to young adult undergoing severe trauma.#we don't see her recovery from her eyes. we don't actually see her get to a space where she feels safe enough to think abt family#or if she doesnt want it#and like obv would like less incest! fern and ivy isnt worse than any other incest we see in canon it's canon typical#ivypool also isnt inherently as like. lesbian coded as people make her out to be. her ending up with a tom tracks about as much#as any other molly we see#<- quoth a lesbian irl#and a canon aro or aspec ivypool would not be handled well! like on one hand it feels very. hm#like it'd be hm to make the canonically grim and tough woman who spent her early adulthood physically fighting#and being used as a tool by both the ppl who groomed her to it and her clan#who doesn't really make friends well#ya know? like she was not written as lgbt at ALL because none of these cats really are aside from fringe cases#headcanons are fine but acting like someone is a homophobe or aphobe for not seeing ivypool paired with ANY tom at ALL is like. not#the move perhaps#her being used for motherhood or romance plots is not worse than like Sandstorm or Squirrelflight being used for that#it isnt good but its not a special case#again post brought to u by irl aspec lesbian

I'd say I have mixed feelings on killing off another ThunderClan "Snow-" in a tragic way like that, especially as a kit; on one hand, I'd like to see a ThunderClan superstition crop up about the prefix being cursed, on the other I think that the pure dumbassery of the name Snowbush is glorious and I cannot imagine a world without it being canon.
pick some cats that you think should've been killed off and cats who shouldn't have died in the df battle!
who SHOULDN’T have died: ferncloud, sorreltail, foxleap, sunstrike, beetlewhisker, HOLLYLEAF
who SHOULD have died: bumblestripe, thornclaw, dustpelt, brackenfur, mistystar, brambleclaw, maybe lionblaze, spiderleg, onestar, blackstar, tigerheart, crowfeather, maybe some kits even like snowbush as a kit

Bold of you to assume the Erins can learn
Shit didn't one of the Erins say that they would be bringing back a controversial character for this arc? And the "kicking Squirrelflight out" thing made me feel like Fake!Bramblestar was just pretending to care about her, and the whole Fake!Bramblestar being creepy to Bristlefrost situation feels like maybe,,, the Erins and WP didn't learn after Spottedleaf's Heart if you know what I'm saying, and the one possessing Bramble might be Thistleclaw
Thistleclaw does seem like a likely candidate but the Erins should know they shouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole at this point

Without trying to be like. Actually aggressive or mean, it's the combination of the age gap, the fact that some content implies that Tiger had feelings for Fire when Fire was a 'paw (which is canonically the equivalent to a teenager, and why Spottedleaf's Heart was so grossnasty, and why a Lot of people r squicked by how FernDust is written in the first series (Dustpelt being very much an adult and Fernpaw being a teen)), the fact that Tigerclaw is shown to be manipulative to pretty much everyone around him at all times, and the fact that Fireheart is not a pure blooded wildcat OR a cat who has both parents from the same clan while Tigerclaw's whole canon motive was that he wanted Power™ and to do a whole genocide against cats who were known to be anything other than pure blooded clan cats.
Also people were posting full cat porn into the main tags for Firestar and Tigerstar earlier, and these are children's book characters.
Will someone explain to me what the problem is with the firetiger ship? If it’s the age difference, it’s really not as different as Fern/Dust or Thorn/Blossom, right?

!!! This!!! Tawnypelt! Correct!
Did anyone else have very random specific colors they used to mentally envision characters as when they read the books for the first time? For me characters were usually solid colors b/c it took too much mental energy to picture complex designs. I remember Brackenfur and Thornclaw are both described as golden brown but they were always these very specific shades of brown. And no one cared about background characters or drew them much back in the day so I don’t think fan art influenced me, Thornclaw has just always been yellowish-tan in my brain.
Tumblr media
And Tawnypelt very specifically looked liked this because my child brain heard the word “Tawny” and immediately thought golden-yellow. It threw me off so much when I saw fanart of her and learned she is supposed to be a pale tortoiseshell. Tortie designs STILL never looks quite right no matter how much I see them

Cross Talks About Their "If Working Partners/the Erins Weren't Cowards" Mega-AU Part 2, Electric Boogaloo:
During Firestar's Quest, but in the Graphic Novel- Sasha and her kits happen. Sasha stays in Riverclan and isn't kicked out once the clans figure out that Tigerstar was her mate, in spite of her fears. Hawkfrost and Mothwing progress as usual except for Mothwing is a trans gal and a lesbian because I'm Love that headcanon and this is my city now. Tadpole still dies to give Mothwing's questioning of Starclan a bit more ground than just. "I saw some visions, but Hawkfrost told me that he faked a sign and that Starclan is fake, sooo..." (AKA "If there is a Starclan, why did Tadpole have to die? Why didn't the ancestors protect him? He was the kit of a clanborn cat too, shouldn't he have had the same protection that we do?") Sasha is Big Bisexual Energy and probably gets a GF in Riverclan but I genuinely can't remember any Riverclan cats in her age bracket right now. Also. Tigerstar doesn't have a predominantly white coat? The Tigerstar and Sasha stuff was. The only canon where he looked Like That, and I'm still mega salty to this day.
Firestar's Quest- I don't remember what book Bramble got his warrior name in, but regardless, his warrior name is Brambleheart because Thunderclan needs to make use of the "-heart" suffix instead of "-fur" and "-pelt", and because Firestar wanted to honor his loyalty and courage. Longtail still gets blinded in the rabbit incident, but he remains an active member of clan life. If Sandstorm was the best hunter in Thunderclan, then Longtail became the best investigator in Thunderclan; able to sniff out any trace of a trespasser with frightening accuracy. He and Thornclaw man Dawn Patrols together, and sometimes sit guard duty together, becoming as close as siblings. Since Whitestorm wasn't killed in the battle with Bloodclan, he remains deputy. When Firestar leaves on his Skyclan mission, Whitestorm steps up as the acting leader of Thunderclan, having Graystripe take on the role of his deputy, assuming that Firestar will name Graystripe as his replacement once he retires. Skyclan still goes as usual, mostly because I absolutely can't fuckin' remember any of FQ beyond the general premise actually and I am Not reading that mess again in this year 2019! When he and Sandstorm get back, they do tell the clans that another Starclan-guided clan exists out there in the world, so that the Skyclan ancestors and the Big Four ancestors can once again share the skies and see their loved ones/descendents again. Something something, acknowledging the ancestors gives them the ability to walk with you. This is how Starclan works now, because canon is vague and it's my city now. The plot twist is that, like. The other three forest clans Absolutely still tell stories of Skyclan, because Thunderclan headed the "Hey, fuck Skyclan," movement back in the day and were the only clan to revise Skyclan out of their history. These stories are revealed to have likely been an inspiration to Brokenstar and his power grab with Windclan. Squirrelkit and Leafkit are born.
Before TNP but after FQ- Events similar to the third Ravenpaw graphic novel happen, where Thunderclan has to go to the barn and yell "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, Bloodclan?!?" at the Bloodclan survivors. Shortly after this, Ravenpaw meets and falls for Smudge because RavenSmudge is the hill I've chosen to die on and because the idea of Barley being an embarrassing cowboy dad is glorious, and him being Ravenpaw's Adult MLM Role Model™ feels like a nice contrast to Tigerstar having been Ravenpaw's Probably Homophobic Abusive Parent Figure™ before he left Thunderclan. I will always stan having genuinely kind and well-meaning cats replacing Tigerstar in Ravenpaw's and the Tiger-Clones' lives.

General Canon- Leaders can retire and have their successor get a full 9 lives, but they have to go to the moonstone/moonpool with the new leader and the medicine cat to formally relinquish their leadership. Elders help new mentors train their first apprentice. Elders also help collect moss, herbs, and prey in Greenleaf, usually with their grandkits, and it’s usually a special treat for the apprentices, who get to hear all of the stories that the clan deemed too likely to encourage rambunctious or dangerous behavior in kits.
Bluestar's Prophecy, Yellowfang's Secret, Crookedstar's Promise, ect- Better continuity (Not having a shitton of super-editions that occur at the same time be written years apart).
BP- Thistleclaw is more adamantly an antagonist without being made into a child predator, he's more openly vengeful and bitter towards the cats he deems responsible for Snowfur's death (Shadowclan and Bluefur) and he intentionally starts a Lot of shit with Shadowclan, setting the stage for the explicitly bad blood between Shadowclan and Thunderclan in Into the Wild, and possibly costing Shadowclan the lives of senior warriors/high-ranking warriors. He also might "encourage" Tawnyspots' retirement with schemes/poison(?) in order to take power, which Bluefur witnesses but can't explicitly Proove, giving her reason to want to keep him away from deputyship other than her own opinion on him and her ambition. Bluefur gives up her kits because another Thunderclan cat comes close to exposing her and Oakheart's affair. She does this with his actual help, and she helps him get into her territory in order to smuggle the kits out. Mosskit doesn't die, since multiple adult cats are present to keep the kits warm. She lives to be a warrior (named Mosspath maybe?) and is the only one of her siblings to really miss the Thunderclan forest (she has her mother's build and coat, and is therefore more than a little unsuited for aquatic activity). Spottedleaf's Heart doesn't exist, actually.
YS- Yellowfang is aware of her power from the moment she's old enough to put two and two together. She talks to the leader about being made a medicine cat, but she's told to train as a warrior because the clan needs more paws on deck right now. She does and is made a warrior, and takes Raggedpelt as a mate. The clan medicine cat complains about not having a successor much later on (after Yellowfang has spent moons basically acting as an unpaid intern in the medicine den), and the leader finally lets her train as a medicine cat. She's already pregnant at this point, and the medicine cat encourages her to give up her kits to save clan reputation. She does, Lizzardshit is still a Bad Mom, and Brokenstar still happens as usual. Brokenkit isn't named like that because of his funky tail, Yellowfang was just edgy. (Actually the same applies to Deadfoot of Windclan. They both just had Unfortunate names that wound up reflecting some of the common injuries that they'd receive as warriors.)
Crookedstar’s Promise still happens as it does in canon, but more accurate to the established timeline. A bigger deal is made by Riverclan about Rainflower renaming her son after the accident, to show that first arc/prequel Thunerclan’s practice of naming cats after their disabilities or disfigurements is Not a Thing in other clans, and that the other clans know it to be an actively harmful practice. Rainflower is shown postmortem in the Dark Forest for abusing and neglecting her son.
I haven’t read Tallstar’s Revenge yet (it’s a priority tho) but Jake is explicitly bisexual, in a relationship with Tallstar, and Nutmeg and Quincy have Jake’s kits bc there’s some surrogacy going on.
The Prophecies Begin- Shadowclan isn’t the permanent antagonist. Nightstar gets several lives because he is the cat that Shadowclan chose to replace the Crime Lads after Brokenstar corrupted 80% of the ranking warriors, but since Brokenstar didn’t properly surrender his lives and title, Nightstar doesn’t get the full 9 lives, similar to the Sunstar situation. Thunderclan brings Windclan home as in canon, but this and the gorge incident worsen relationships between Thunderclan and Riverclan (making Riverclan the antagonist clan of Fire and Ice, and making Greystripe’s and Silverstream’s forbidden romance more immediately risky). Thunderclan has to actually formally apologize for their bad political choices with Riverclan in the past, and peace talks are headed by Whitestorm and Mistyfoot (prior to the Bluestar’s kits reveal) as two of the most levelheaded warriors in their clans. Cinderpaw’s accident still happens, but she resumes warrior training once she’s healed (Missing the lower part of her bad leg entirely because the Erins are cowards and I’m here to spite them). She complees her warrior training, but receives a sign from Starclan predicting the fire and Yellowfang’s death, so she volunteers to at least become an interim medicine cat, learning what an apprentice would so that she can pass on the knowledge to the next medicine cat. She actively comes to battles with Thunderclan, as she can fight to protect herself and injured cats that need immediate treatment on the battlefield, leading to her saving a number of lives during the battle with Bloodclan. Greystripe and Silverstream still happen. Tigerclaw’s bullshit still happens, and the fire still happens. Sometime mid-series, Thunderclan and Riverclan agree to a mutual use policy in regards to Sunningrocks, so that elders can warm their fur there, any herbs grown there can be shared, and Riverclan can fish from the banks while Thunderclan hunts in the boulders. Snowkit isn’t taken after the fire, one of his larger clanmates saves him. He, Cloudtail, and Brightheart end up very close, and his warrior name is Snowstorm. The dog stuff still happens, and Bluestar naming Brightpaw to Lostface still happens, and when any cat from outside the clan hears about that, they react with absolute horror. Deputy Fireheart, still our PoV character, takes note of this. Bluestar’s death and the kits reveal still goes down, as does Greystripe’s return to Thunderclan, as he fears Leopardstar’s increasingly strange choices. He tries to bring his kits back to Thunderclan with him, but Leopardstar refuses to let him. Firestar’s first act as leader is to rename Brightheart and his second is to outright ban those kind of names and issue a formal apology to the elders with similarly bad names, who all decided to keep those names bc they’re old af and don’t have the energy to re-adjust to a new name again. The Tigerstar and Bloodclan drama unfolds as usual, Stonefur dies as usual. Whitestorm doesn’t die in the battle with Bloodclan, but the group of apprentices think he does, so they kick the shit out of Bone while Cinderpelt gets Whitestorm’s bleeding to slow. Cindepelt also gets a moment that is given HELLA SPOTLIGHT where she beats the fuck outta Brick from the Scourge manga. Firestar is immensely proud of her as he sees this happen, and when he loses his first life, Yellowfang is also notably proud of her. There is a “Look at our talented apprentice go! She’s doing so good, Cinderpelt ,you’re doing so well, your 300 parents are all so proud, you saved lives and took fuckin’ names!" Brightheart, Cloudtail, and Snowstorm turn out to be a hella dangerous trio in battle. Post-fight, Russetfur is chosen to be the new leader of Shadowclan (Blackfoot committed war crimes y’all), Leopardstar sees how shitty her choices were and she formally relinquishes her lives and title to Mistyfoot, making Mistystar canon leader much earlier. Mosspath and Stormpaw decide to leave Riverclan to join Thunderclan, because Riverclan was so willing to be complicit in their abuse under Tigerstar, but Featherpaw has such a strong bond with her mentor Mistystar that she remains in Riverclan. Firestar and Mistystar arrange for regular meetings between the surviving members of the half-clan families, and agree to coordinate when those cats come to gatherings. Tawnypaw stays in Shadowclan, and Firestar works out a similar deal for her, Goldenflower, and Bramblepaw with Russetstar.
I’ll reblog with more later but like. I have. Strong feelings about battle cats.

Fucking ramble time ny'all
Ok so like. Ravenbarley bugs me. Barley is just. So much older than Ravenpaw? They meet when Ravenpaw is p young? So hear me out:
Ravenpaw has to go to Thunderclan for something or other. Maybe to tell Firestar something, or to ask for some herbs that don't grow on the farm. On his way there, he gets sidetracked by someone yowling a greeting from atop the fence that borders Twolegplace. A black and white kittypet jumps down, introduces himself as Smudge, and asks his name. When he tells him, Smudge replies with: "Oh, you're one of those clan cats! Do you know R-er, Firestar?" and Ravenpaw has to explain his whole situation, and that he does know Firestar, and Smudge takes this as an invitation to just hang out and talk for a while. Ravenpaw is a little frustrated at first ("I really do need to be going,") but he eventually finds himself warming up to this kittypet. Smudge is a lot less intense than a lot of clan cats are, and he can be pretty funny, when you get to know him. Ravenpaw eventually gets on his way and completes whatever task he was doing in the forest, but as soon as he gets back to the barn he just goes "bARLEY HOLY SHIT I MET A KITTYPET BUT I DON'T HATE HIM AND I WANNA SEE HIM AGAIN??? HE WAS SO NICE AND FUNNY AND HE HAD THE CUTEST MARKINGS ON HIS MUZZLE AND LITTLE STRIPES ON HIS TAIL AND I WANNA TALK TO HIM MORE?" real excited. And Barley is just.
"Son, I think you're gay. This sounds like gay."
Shenanigans ensue, Barley is the Best Dad and tries to help his dorky son get a date with the friendly city boy down the street.
Bonus: Smudge sees Hattie the next day and just goes "Oh my god. He's. So handsome. And he's so talented like he hunts and he can fight and he lives on a farm where he gets to do whatever he wants and his housefolk don't even stop him, isn't that cool?" And she just. Looks into the camera like she's on the office before saying "Dude that's literally just clan life. You're describing clan life. You know several clan cats." And Smudge is just "Well, he's not in a clan and he's cool! So there!" Bc Smudge is the only cat who can out-disaster Canon Leafpool talking about Mothwing in arc 2.

Hi I'm not against the concept of daylight warriors mostly because it makes having a Warriors OC named Sailormoon canon-compliant.
