Daily reminder that it’s okay to say no to gods.

If They’re crossing your boundaries, if you’re not willing or able to do something They’re asking of you, if you don’t want to work with Them for whatever reason. It’s okay to just say no.

The relationship between a deity and their followers is just that, a relationship. All relationships require consent and set boundaries and respect, but too often, we let gods walk all over us because we’re scared of telling Them no and standing up to Them. But that sort of relationship isn’t safe or healthy, and we need to stop acting like that behavior is okay. It isn’t normal to have your boundaries and wellbeing ignored by someone who claims to care about you, even when that someone is divine.

And, just like with other humans, if a god refuses to accept or respect your decision to say not to Them, then They’re probably not someone you want in your life anyway.

It’s this app I stumbled upon in the Google play store called Write in Runic that is basically like a Google translate for runes of MANY languages. It even has ogham, which I’m excited about. The app itself is free, but there are some language s that are behind a pay wall. I was hella excited to find it and it may help others in their spellwork!

Divination skills are vital for an active and informed magical practice.

You want to do a spell to improve your financial situation? You want to start working with X saint for Y reason? The ward you’ve pulled up has been acting up? There is this constant headache when you sit in X place at work? Your ancestors have been trying to tell you something. For. Months. now? You want to know the best way to approach the binding of person T in situation Z? Your dreams have been strangely absent for weeks now? This is why developing skills with tarot, runes, etc is vital for almost any magical practice. It is part of honing your skills and in the long run, one that will pay off majorly. Properly prepared includes divination so you have a better insight in a situation/person/magical predicament. Which will result in you having better handle on it and increasing a positive outcome for yourself. Not only that but also to learn from why something didn’t work or why it works how it works. Post-ritual divination can tell you a lot about rituals/the magic. Frankly it doesn’t take much to light a candle and work a spell. But honing your skills in the divination department will- yes it will -awaken certain abilities over due time. This will add to your spell-casting and overall craft as a witch. I’ve known avid card-readers who found that they started to hear spirit whispers over time during their readings. Or the ‘knowing‘ of things just started to come to them. Personally I see this as someone’s second sight coming into play. And it is different for everyone. But it will happen over time. Perhaps in weeks, months or even over the time of a year. Or it was already there, but you never noticed it. But divination seems to sharpen it over time. That said, keeping up a meditation routine also doesn’t hurt. But that is a different topic. Also; one ability isn’t better than another. If anything, it is all about how you grow and utilize them. Most of all; be patient with yourself. Divination is a skill and it takes time to learn. Even if you take to a particular system as a fish to water! You don’t expect a seed to sprout and turn into a full plant in a day; so why add the weight of that expectation on your shoulders? There will be days you are so sharp and accurate it will feel like a victory, as will there be days when you’ll get frustrated, don’t get the meaning and feel disconnected. And other days will go ‘okay’. Though in time the okay days will become better and turn to good. And you learn to read and understand why it doesn’t work at certain times for you. And then you grow some more in your craft.

Keep My Name Out of Your Mouth -Spell-

We’ve all experienced gossip at some point, and sometimes we know exactly who is spreading the word. For those situations, I have a little chant that I have found effective to stop the person from speaking ill of you.

1). Focus on the person you wish to affect, maybe have their picture or something reminiscent of them.

2). Say the following while holding your focus

“I suggest my name you keep out of your mouth,

Or your reputation will be the one to go south.

For as you tarnish my name,

Yours will experience threefold the same.”

Note: You do not have to use threefold, as I know some people are uncomfortable with it. I simply use it to strengthen the effect of the spell.

Tips for a witch who wants to open a shop like you?

Ohhh, okay, lemme see what I can think of.

Have very clear terms and let people know what to expect from a reading. In my terms, I explain the format of the reading, the file type, the way you'll get it, and other details surrounding my tools.

Try to avoid vague listings. I've so often gone onto a readers page and backed away because I wasn't fully sure what I was getting or why I should trust them. This is where a good social media presence comes in handy so people know you better.

Don't underpay yourself because of competition. Yes, our industry has competition, but you need to live and pay bills, too. This is again where having a good, honest social media presence is important.

Always overestimate how many readings you'll sell in a sale/limited offer. You don't want to be in a situation where you can't keep up. For me, I always make my limited editions 1-2 business weeks in delivery time for that reason.

Work out your overheads beforehand. For example, Etsy takes roughly 10% of your income, be prepared for that and try to keep to your goals every month.

Not every month will be the same. Some are amazing, some are not, and so you want to be able to plan for those eventualities or have ways of getting more traffic to your site.

Social media is your friend. You cannot pen yourself into one niche, you have to branch out, because if your only social media dies, so will your business.

Be open to being wrong. It happens, it always will! Not everyone is perfect and owning that is what makes a good businessperson in our field. Be open to looking at your reading again to help someone understand it if they feel it's wrong, or be open to apologising for typos or lost mail, etc. You have responsibility and a business is not the place for ego.

Have fun! There is really no need for pushing yourself into something you don't want to do. That may mean making this a small business, or deleting a reading you no longer like. Your happiness in what you are doing will be felt by the readee, so try to not harbour more stress than is needed.
