Some thoughts on ‘spiritual’ communities
To be a seeker and to think in big questions of life, such as:
Who am I?
What is my purpose?
Those are THE questions, and when we start peeling out the layers one by one, a lot of belief systems fall apart. A lot of ‘aha’ moments come along.  And sometimes we even fall asleep even deeper in our attempts of waking up.
While I appreciate the support that comes out of being in a spiritual community and the connection with ‘like minded’ people, I have also realized there is a lot of “Truth” talk - in the dream state.  I see a lot of indulging in delusions in order to be part of a collective.
Awakening is about discovering what’s true - anything that’s not about getting to the truth must be discarded.
Truth is not about knowing things.  We already know too much.  It’s not about becoming true, it’s about un-becoming false, so that all that there is left, is truth.

Here us a cute short film about a German girl and an Irish boy who are thrown together by circumstance. Despite a language barrier they learn more about each other than they thought possible.

Some thoughts on how I finally quit smoking...
It’s been exactly 9 months since I quit smoking.  This has been officially the longest time I’ve been smoke free since age 16.
What made this time different (you may ask)?
a) I was unemployed and kinda broke when I decided to stop buying cigarettes.  I just couldn’t bare spending 15 bucks every time I ran out of American Spirits.  When you are spending your life savings in rent money in NYC, every dollar counts!!!
b) I stopped being interested in nightlife.  I was a late bloomer in that regard.  I was a regular in the NYC nightlife scene for 4.5 years straight and at the end of it I was so done with it, I feel like most people are done with it after a year or two when they are in their early 20’s, but not me.
You see, I was in a long term relationship in my early 20’s, and by the end of it, I had no idea what being single in NYC was like… I didn’t have many friends and didn’t know where any of the cool legendary places where.   Here I was, in the most exciting city in the world, and I had never truly experienced all the cool things and places I had read about or watch in movies when I was a teenage girl in Mexico City.  I had a lot to make up for.  Hence, my 5 years as a regular in weekly parties in Manhattan after I found my nightlife niche.
After my partying years I was in much need of some soul searching, as cheese as that sounds.  I had been so focused in following the hype for years that I had trouble staying balanced when the highs were followed by the lows.
I found out about ayahuasca and then yoga and then my life changed to a healthier and much more fulfilling/nurturing way of life.
It didn’t happen overnight.  I had to fall a couple more times before I was able to find my balance…
c) My wonderful boyfriend doesn’t smoke.  After my shifting of consciousness I started connecting with more kindred spirits.  And as a result, I met my amazing partner Austin, who at the time was a hardcore yogi and health enthusiast!
The combination of all these things…
1) Lack of money
2) Removing myself from toxic environments
3) Surrounding myself with healthy and more conscious people
have allowed me to be much more successful at quitting. Maybe if one of these three things was missing, I would have not been able to quit for as long as I have now.
Thankfully, I’ve been back in the job market for about 7 months now, and even if I can afford it, I have no desire to buy cigarettes ever again.
THE CHANGES THAT I HAVE FELT SINCE I QUIT:
- I have not gotten sick once since!!!  I used to get sick every 3 months or so.
- Better breath
- Whiter teeth
- No need to go out in the cold to smoke during winter. Yes, I was one of those poor bastards!
CONS
I don’t mean to discourage anyone but, it’s true, you gain weight when you quit.  Which sux!!!!  I gained like 4 or 5 lbs but when you are 5’1 like me, it’s defs not cool.  This however was another opportunity to watch my diet a lot more and have more motivation to exercise.
Now that I am no longer in my early 20s, it takes more work fit into those skinny jeans.
Oh well…this post initially was meant to start as a tweet, but I obviously got carried away.
Moral of the story: it takes a lot of work and a tremendous amount of energy to get rid of a bad habit.  Think about that before you develop one.
Stay healthy!

Made another video about my Mexican road trip w/ my bf! I am quite enjoying piecing footage together that's been sitting in my iPhone and my computer for months (actually a year).  We visited so many beautiful places it's worth sharing those moments of bliss.
If you are ever in Mexico I highly recommend visiting the magical waterfalls in the jungles of Chiapas, surfing in the Pacific coast of Oaxaca and chilling out in the white sandy beaches of Qintana Roo.  Also, if you are into history and mysticism you cannot skip visiting the ancient Mayan sites.
It's mind blowing! And the energy of the place is quite special too. (Pro tip: charge your crystals at the top of the pyramids! ;p)
Ok that's it for now!  I hope you like it. TTYS! xxx

Good bye 2013!!!
You were really good to me. Kicked my ass several times with tough love but overall you brought so many blessings & amazing experiences into my life.
Grateful for all the travel and adventures, for connecting with the earth and receiving its grounding force, for all the beautiful people I met (especially Dolphie, the hottest one of all!), for having the chance of spending time with my family, for the insights that have allowed me to become healthier, for the universe that continues to constantly blow my mind with wonder!
Here's to welcoming 2014 and for the new lessons, adventures and magic that are yet to come!
