Time to talk about the internship!! so I started out back in October, I was looking for something related to animation that I could do (whether it was key animation or directing something), and there was this place close by in my area that was looking for people to hire!

for… reasons I will not say the name of the company.

at first it was going really strong, I fit into the environment very well I think, everyone there was really kind and stuff. Was a very fun and chill place to work at during the time I was there!

now here’s where my problems began, was in the first few weeks, cuz we didn’t have the right equipment for me to animate, nothing, just a single laptop and a mouse. we did get a drawing tablet, a drawing pen, and software such as… ugh, Adobe animate.

after we got all that stuff I thought it was all great and that we were good to go to let me do what I wanted! problem was that even though they were really willing to bring me on as an animator, nobody there knew how the process worked…

you can take a guess as to how it all went. it involved many conversations about how to simplify my process down, even going as far as to suggesting that AI do the entire process instead of letting me do stuff myself. it kinda disappointed me that they wanted to go with this route actually.

I pushed back against this though because I didn’t think this would bring out the most amount of creative potential in me, it wasn’t why I joined the company for an internship. this died down after a while but it does get brought up in evaluations from time to time.

I finished 2 official videos for the workplace that they wanted me to animate, one about… beer? I think? And one about the Media room they have, was for like podcasts and all that. I expected more from my output, but it was tough to get through at points, especially with all the complications that came up during the productions of those videos. I won’t get into them here though. That’ll be saved for a video 👀

now at first I was thinking that I’d get hired on as an actual employee, but the thing was was that the company was going through a real financial problem near the end of my time there, which forced them to do layoffs, and that included me. I wasn’t fired or anything, but I wouldn’t be brought on as an employee after my internship was over.

so at the near end of February, on the 20th of this year, my internship ended, I was paid well, I was celebrated for my work and what I did for the place, and that was it! :D felt rly bad for everyone that got laid off though

my internship is finally over as of last week!! ill probably make a separate post about it but man is it good to be able to work on my own stuff again! heres' a gote in the meantime

am rly proud of this one btw!! I’m starting to learn how to do anatomy somewhat decently unlike my other pieces where I had no clue how to rly do it, since I’m not rly that good at remember 100’s of things at once

i mentioned my internship before in my previous post but im gonna expand on that a bit! basically i was looking for an animation job the past year or so, my work portfolio is mainly related to animation. but the issue is that there's not literally no jobs around this part of of the U.S that are willing to hire animators and stuff; eventually i start going to this place (will not mention for privacy sake) that allows me to find jobs, could've been anything rly. started working with this one person to find something at least, and after a few months its led me to my current internship! im surprised i even got it in the first place considering that theres' nothing around here that allowed me to show off in terms of animation skills

also sorry for not posting here that often!! im part of a part-time internship thats currently draining me a lot (even if it is animation-related, and is also pr fun at the same time!) and its been taking a lot of my focus away from the stuff ive rly wanted to do, like my original projects (js show especially)
