COMPLETED - This is one of my latest commission pieces that I've been working on, it is none other than a miniature replica of one of Ed Sheeran's guitars and this one is called "Cyril"... Previously I made "Nigel" too which was immensely fun to make and I now feel like somehow I'll end up making the whole set of 5 (I think it is, correct me if I'm wrong...) If the commission comes in, I'd be doing it 😂 it's also weird because this is an example of how my artwork teaches me about things I previously had no idea about... Commission WIP: (1/114 scale) Workshop converted house X3: Creating the walls for these 3 identical pieces is becoming an enjoyable experience! I created a master on foamx of this small garage that is in the references... I then cast 3 of the wall sections and doors in resin. This has been such a smooth process and by putting some drops of black Vallejo acrylic paint in the resin has prepared things to avoid some light bleed... I'll be doing this trick in future... Coming to the finish line with the 'Cyrl' guitar and I had mentioned a guitar stand for my client too... And like I am with everything I remain true to my word... I used plastic rod for the structure of the stand and utilised my favourite little detail trick, the rubber washer.... I did start to question the structural strength of the guitar stand when I first tried the guitar on it but after some reinforcement and letting super glue dry fully it remained strong... Commission WIP: (1/114 scale) Workshop converted house X3: After putting the resin wall pieces together I've now premiered them up... This is just to show you how well the mould has actually worked... Every brick has been cast which is a success in my book 👌 one thing I have done since is add some colour to my resin so the garage which I'm using the same process for I've added some Vallejo black acrylic to the resin so the walls will already be partially light proof... We'll see though haha I'm working on the terrain currently do the next update on this commission will be around that aspect I'm sure.... Commission WIP: (1/114 scale) Workshop converted house X3: Progress is continuing on these 3 piece identical pieces... It's simply a case of what ever I do to the one, the other two get the same treatment and currently I'm both building up the layers of the terrain and building the main centre piece... 3 times... This is the latest method I've used for brickwork and as you can see the resin castings of the walls is proving to work rather well... I'll be priming them next so then all the brick details will be picked up for you not to mention the areas where I've got bubbles in the resin ect. Commission: (1/114 scale) Workshop converted house X3 So I'm currently over the moon with how this piece is going... My plan was to carve in the brickwork for each wall of the house using foamx... Usually when doing duplicates of a model I would carve each houses walls individually but having worked with creating silicone moulds recently, I decided to sculpt a master and then mould 3 buildings in resin... COMPLETED Commission piece: (1/65 scale) A private house in Birmingham: This one has taken longer than usual only because 'life has been happening' in the process mainly, it's something I've had to adjust to but I'm getting there week by week... But this piece is completed and once again is a bit of a 'perfect example' of what 'Time Capsule Scratch Builder ' is all about... Simply 'preserving YOUR memories in miniature' to savour forever and just maybe hand through generations... And then (I hope not in some ways) but appear on @therepairshoptv in 2078... Commission: Colin's roll x games 2007: This piece is coming along and you'll be able to compare with the reference the colours I'm trying to replicate with both the surface texture and also the dust clouds... I find during the painting part of the process that initially I have no real thought as to the colours to go with, it's merely a case of trial and error and so whilst making this scene I discovered how slowly I make choices by eye that result in a close match... It's a case of persistence and patience and also the understanding with myself that a mistake can not exist... That's not a thing in the way I look at my art, it can always add into the story of the piece and ultimately be turned into something more... We're on a roll!!! The 1/43 commission piece of Colin McRae's roll is coming together and I've constructed the base for the diorama... 'If in doubt, flat out - even on your roof...' So one of the many commissions I've got on the go currently is now a recreation of Colin Mcrae's roll during the X games in America circa 2006... This will be a first for me as I'm used to stopping cars in time during epic power slides... Not necessarily a moment on their roof but this piece will tell a story that hopefully will immediately describe the type of talent Colin was respectively... In this situation he himself co driven by the ever faithful and reliable Nicky Grist were racing to beat the time set by Travis Pastrana... On taking an 'over crest into - 3 right' turn his Subaru rolled but... Whilst doing so Colin changed gear upside down so that on returning to all 4 wheels he could try to avoid loosing time... This moment summed the man up... Bit of a random flash back here to something I made as a commission back at the start of 2019... it was a 4mm scale replica of West Bay Station building which was commissioned by a client for installation into their railway layout they were building at the time...
