Harry, Lilly, & Severus Always.

I'm not a fan of James Potter. I view him as a malicious bully who only pretended to be a good person when his wife was watching. The way he treated Severus was uncalled for and way out of line. Severus the child did not deserve it.

Severus the adult was the strict teacher who had a low tolerance for bs that all the students hated and feared. The books were written from the child's perspective initially. Harry had a tendency to exagerate and jump to conclusions. He even found out at the end of each year that he'd been wrong about Severus. Every freaking year he misjudged the man.

Was Severus completely innocent? No. He was really unfair to the gryfindors and he was overly critical of Harry for something he had nothing to do with. But it's my tumbler and I Stan Severus. 😝

Anyway. I painted this for day 25 of the art challenge I'm doing on Instagram.

Sometimes I look over the last few years and am just kind of dumbfounded. How the hell did I get here, of all places? It's been a long journey, and it ain't over yet.

Sometimes I'll look at all the amazing artists I see on this site and just feel completely and utterly unqualified. Why would anyone want to look at art made by me? But learning to be okay with imperfection has changed my life for the better. The idea of "good" and "bad" art has strangled the love of creation from way too many artists.

I don't think it's bad to want to make something beautiful, I do think it's bad if that desire prevents you from making anything at all. Make something! Let it be ugly! Let yourself be new and vulnerable. Then practice, get better, and keep creating.

Art is subjective, but I know that there's always at least one person out there who needs to see it. Even the worst art in the world will have someone who connects with it, and who are you to deny them that?
