What's your Hogwarts house? Mine's Ravenclaw, as you can see. I just finished these awesome #wisbymittens made of some leftover yarn from my Ravenclaw scarf. You can buy the pattern at @kammebornia 's Ravelry shop and they are really easy to make! Tack, Pia! #ravenclaw #hogwarts #harrypotter #jkrowling #harrypotterandthephilosophersstone #knitting #handmade

I'd totally be interested! The only problem is that I don't really know books set in Austria, only a thriller series. The problem is that Austrian (and German as well) YA authors tend to set their novels in anglophone countries (e. g. Kerstin Gier, Cornelia Funke, Kai Meyer - all right, those are German but you get what I mean).
READING CHALLENGE IDEA
okay so I was just in the bathtub thinking about books when an idea hit me: Literary travelling the world. I haven’t thought about anything too specific, but I want it to last over a couple of month where every participant reads books set in different countries. For that, every participant also has to tell me 1 or 2 books set in their country so I can make a masterpost of all the countries with all the books. And because it’s a challenge there would be something smol (I’m poor sorry) up for grabs for the person who “visited” the most countries. Of course there would be discussions around the books read, how they show a country, you can write reviews, make fanart,…. literally everything. And Idk, but I just liked the idea of this.
Would you be interested in something like that? Please let me know!

I could help with the German editions. But be aware that there are twice as many books in German, because they split each book up. It's because german publishers aren't allowed to use the same ink and thin paper or something. Plus, german texts are usually longer than the same text in English. Then the books aren't very cheap, even though they're paperbacks they cost 16€ each. Maybe try "The Book Depository", because they have german books as well and they have (almost?) world wide free shipping. I also use "medimops" a lot, because they have a lot of used books still in good shape. I bought as good as new books for just a few euros. I don't know though what countries they ship to or how much it is. Ask me if you need help!
How would I go about buying different editions of my favorite series? For example I want to collect ASOIAF in as many other languages as I can but I don't want to trade with someone who's charging a fortune. Any ideas on where to even begin?
Hey Nonnie!
Try using Tumblr as a platform, this is the place where there are so many people from different countries and I’m sure you’ll be able to strike a deal with them. Also, in case of ASOIAF, maybe try joining forums (or Facebook groups, there are tons of them and the biggest one has several tens of thousands members) and talk to the people there.
You can also try looking the different editions in different languages on local websites, with the help of a native speaker (again, tumblr is a big help here).
I have no other ideas, I’m sorry :(
Can anyone else help?
Hugs!

@warehouse-agent-in-training OMG the last two sentences killed me 😂
Hi my name is Alexander Bundes’sascha van der Bellen and I am the Bundespräsident of Austria (that’s how I got my name) and a lot of people tell me I look and act like Heinz Fischer (AN: if u don’t know who he is get da hell out of here!). I’m not in the same party as Sebastian Kurz but I wish I was because he’s a major fucking hottie. I’m a smoker and unfortunately my teeth aren’t straight or white. I’m also a member of the Greens and will live in a former imperial palace called the Hofburg for six years (I’m seventy-three). I’m a politician (in case you couldn’t tell) and wear mostly suits. For example today I was wearing a black smoking, a white shirt and a black necktie. I was walking outside the Hofburg. It was sunny so there was no acid rain, which I was very happy about. Norbert Hofer and HC Strache stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.

@dracenathe6th Already read it and loved it!!! It needs to become more popular!
I need your help, booklr-community!
I’m going to write my Master thesis about “Norse mythology in popular literature” (this is the working title) with an emphasis on children- and YA-literature. So here’s my question:
DO YOU KNOW ANY CHILDREN OR YA BOOKS (OR JUST MODERN NOVELS IN GENERAL) THAT ARE BASED ON OR INFLUENCED BY NORSE MYTHOLOGY?
Books by scandinavian authors would be extra awesome! You can comment on this post or send me an anonymous ask. If you don’t know any books like that, please reblog this post to spread the word! I’d be extremely grateful! (:
Btw: I can read (apart from English) in: German, Swedish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Danish and Dutch.

@readingdidyoumeanbreathing I've only got one book from Sweden so far (Sagan om Valhalla). Do you maybe know anything else? Btw, the same goes for Iceland.

Books with Norse mythology I remember reading: Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan, Loki's Wolves by Kelley Armstrong and Melissa Marr, The Lost Sun by Tessa Gratton, American Gods by Neil Gaiman (Not YA very adult). I can only read English so I don't know many other authors. The first three are all the first books in a series.
I knew Magnus Chase would be coming up sooner or later 🙈 not the biggest fan of Rick Riordan, because he made fun of people who still believe in the norse gods. But thank you for the other recommendations! I'll check them all out!
