Legitimate question:
Is it worse to not respond or to respond like a month (or six) later, when you realize you never actually responded?
Also, does it make people feel bad if earlier comments got replies, but then theirs doesn't for a long time?
I swear it isn't that I don't care, or that the comments and kudos don't mean the world to me, on the two fics I have been brave enough to make public, but I have both social anxiety and severe ADHD. I fail to answer text messages, fairly often, because I either read the text and think I will respond later or start to type the response and get distracted, or interrupted, before I hit send and I forget it ever existed...
Half the time I get AO3 Notifs when I am at work or otherwise busy. It isn't that I don't care or that it doesn't genuinely mean a lot to me. I just can't usually take the time to respond right away and if I don't have something right in front of me I don't remember.
I feel really guilty for not replying to messages, but I also feel like replying so long after the original message will make them think I don't really care or bother them when they have long since moved on.
While I wouldn't mind that if another fic author did it to me, I also know that a lot of people wouldn't just freaking forget their own works existed for months at a time, much less that someone actually bothered to take time and comment on what they liked.
My fellow fanfic authors, I'm begging on my hands and knees – and Ima hold your hand as I say this – you gotta respond to the readers that leave comments on your work.
I know social anxiety is the worst (trust, my autistic ass understands) but I promise you, nothing deters a reader from commenting more than seeing a comment section with no replies as you continue to post fanfics. Even if it's as simple as "thanks for reading!" or just some cute emojis, it'll show that you're actually engaging with your audience!
We work so hard on our writing, and those of us that post them online want it to be seen, right? Indulging in our little fandoms is how we build connections with people that feel the same way.
It might be hard or even scary, but I find the more you socialize with others (especially in a more controlled environment like a comment section), the easier it gets! 💕

Random OC note/headcannon
My SugarBoo has something very similar to a transatlantic accent (the one used in 40s movies) because they grew up in the US but with multiple Tutors and a nanny from the UK.
Therefore when the BitterSweet trio is all together it is just a nice little collection of sexy accents.

Okay but I think we're overlooking a very important thing about Lost n Found. CASPER JUST FLIPPED A KNIFE OUT AND SLASHED CHARLIE'S TIRE???
And Charlie being Charlie was like "Well that happened....guess I'm staying the night!" I fully belive Casper just wants Charlie always near them. Which I understand bc I think he left first? Like when they were you get and honestly meeting someone you really love and connected when younger leave you it can cause a but of trauma.
But also another thing that peaked my interest is when Charlie said "I don't mind feeling like I'm in your clutches." Or sum around those lines, so they're crazy about each other and it's kinda cute.

this applies to real life, of course, but I see people in fandom do this all the time. A character can be aromantic coded and not asexual coded and vis versa. not every aspec coded character is aroace and I wish more people recognized that some characters are better read as aroallo

Asexual people can write about sex. Asexual people can sing about sex. Asexual people can talk, joke, read, watch, know, enjoy sex. It makes them no less asexual for it.
Aromantic people can write about romance. They can sing, joke, read, watch, know, enjoy romance. It makes them no less aromantic.
Aplatonic people can write, sing, joke, read, watch, know, enjoy platonic relationships. It makes them no less aplatonic.
Agender people can present as a certain gender, use "gendered" pronouns, not make effort to look androgynous/agender, use the name they were given at birth, enjoy typically gendered experiences. Agender people can refer to themselves by gendered terms. It does not make them any less agender.

Seconded! I love Reverie Audios! If you aren't sure where to start, I would recommend Ellis's Playlist for the easiest introduction to the world. Also, for the interaction with his cat Eggs Benedict.
Altair has put together a nice variety of interesting characters with different backgrounds and personalities, so I do think there is a bit of something for everyone.
The Ellis audios are mostly fluffy and fun, but there are more serious/darker themes explored in other character storylines if that is what you're into. However, they do tend to be more lore heavy. (Nathaniel, Marlowe, Jacob, and Roman) If you are going to start with one of these, (because you live for the drama) I would recommend Roman's audios as they have the most explanation to the listener directly. Also, for Roman's interactions with the grumpy researcher Cyril. (Cyril may or may not be my special favorite)
Another good entry point would be Casey, if you just want all the fluff ever without much lore to learn, or Gage, who gives a lighter intro to the lore in the 4th or 5th of his audios. Still, Ellis's explanation is probably the most comprehensive, and he is very sweet and lovable.
