- Yeah, I don't have time for pleasantries, David. Some of us are big in America. In fact, I have a Zoom with L.A. - It's 4 a.m. in L.A. - Well, that was the only time I could fit them in, so they're getting up early.

Sodom and Gomorrah. You were doing a lot of smiting, and turning people into salt. Hard to forget.
s2's focus on (Aziraphale's) morality and heaven's actions got me thinking about this short exchange from the novel. it's not in the show - but did it still happen, off-screen?
[more thoughts under the cut]
the conversation might not have happened after they discovered they raised the wrong child, but perhaps it did, after Armageddidn't. on a quiet evening, feeling like they could be just a little more open with each other, when it seemed like they might've won an existence free from their respective head offices.
how willing would show!Aziraphale be to liken Heaven to Hell?
he certainly knows about Heaven's capacity to be cruel, but that's just misguided angels. isn't it? it's not institutional, because god can't do Wrong.
did he accept the position as Supreme Archangel because he really thought Heaven was still morally better than Hell? or is he so painfully aware of how awful angels can be that he felt like he had to seize the one chance he'd get to change things?
i'd like to think it's the latter. crowley aside, he's seen so much divine cruelty on Earth. and unlike the other angels, he knows the consequences. how could he turn down the opportunity to fix things? for crowley and for humankind.

Some of your books make it seems like you believe in actual literal magic, do you? ()
I can write down a few words and make people thousands of miles away, whom I have never met and will never meet, laugh tears of joy and cry tears of true sorrow for people who do not exist and have never existed and never will exist. If that isn't actual literal magic I don't know what is.
