god weaving on my triloom has been so fun. i have two projects im working on rn and two more in queue its just. so satisfying to watch the fabic materialize. plus its faster and easier to do on the go than a non continuous loom. its just. So Good
after the move I need to make a better rectangle frame loom to remake the Sappho/Aphrodite piece I abandoned but THEN i’m going to make a 7ft frame loom for shawls (and maybe to make fabric for clothes, pending how close i can get the nails)
#i Do need to take a break so start work on my ritual which was delayed#but that requires quilting this year not weaving#my practice#of the golden loom#my triloom is only good on the go bc of its size#a 7ft triloom is not easy move#tho ig its still easier to move than a floor loom so.

Finished weaving and sewing my bandana! It’s been washed and is currently being blocked, so it’s not *completely* finished in this photo, but I’m super proud of it. Once it’s done blocking it will be a devotional veil to Kirke and Telegonos, to wear specifically for Them. All of my other veils are all purpose, so it’s nice to have something specific :)
My technique definitely needs a lot of work, but each piece was better than the previous and I learned a lot trial and erroring my way through it, especially with the finishings. I’ve already started weaving my next experiment and I can’t wait to learn more!

The loom is (mostly) done and so is my first project!
I forgot about shrinkage when deciding on the size of the loom (and also forgot id be putting the pins on the inner edge), so it’s oo small to really do much with on its own, but I’m gonna mess around a bit more and once I get more used to it I’ll see about sewing some pieces together to make things.
Been working on making a triangle loom that will be devoted to Kirke! Not everything I make will be for Her, but the act of weaving itself will be in Her honor. I decided to paint it so I’m figuring out what symbols and colors I want to use and I’m also writing an invocation to write on it🥰

Holes have been drilled and the inner/outer edges have been painted! Next up is fixing up any messy edges and paint the invocation :)

Loom update!
Got the base layer of paint on the front and back and marked where all of the nails will go :) Tomorrow starts the long process of predrilling the holes

#maybe shouldve done the holes first but i didnt want to paint over them#this way i can erase the pencil marks and do small touch ups#then after the drilling gonna do the detail painting#hoping to get a decent amount done this weekend but i may be viewing apartments on saturday so thatll kill most of that day#my practice

Witchcraft is a lot like cooking/baking.
When you think of spells as recipes, it puts in perspective why some spells are more flexible in what you use and others are not.
The best example I can think of is the chocolate chip cookie chart that shows how even the smallest difference in ingredients, temperature, and resting periods can effect the cookie. Its still a chocolate chip cookie, but the outcome will be different.
Of course you have some spells that are like mac n cheese where subsituting ingredients don't really matter bc itll still be mac n cheese.
But some are like macrons where you need the almond flour or the recipe won't work.
And both are still great! Not everyone follows the exact same recipe either, so while macrons are specific we still have chocolate macrons!
So if youre trying out a new spell and it doesn't work its okay, all recipes need adjustments eventually!

Listen. Listen. Hexadecimal code sigil work. Well, maybe it's more like a cousin of sigils. But like, hex codes. They're made up of letters and numbers, right? So you can code a message into them, and then use it in witchcraft. It's a bit like typical color magic, but more intentional.
As an example, say I want a color for protection. First I'll reduce it to protec. P is the sixteenth letter, and so I further reduce it by adding 1 and 6 to get 7. I do the same for all of the letters through T. So P = 7, R = 9, O = 6, and T = 2. Since E and C can both be used in hex codes, I leave them as letters. The result is #7962ec, which is this color:
Which is a nice enough color, but say I think it's not quite right for the protection spell I had in mind. So instead of using protec, I'll instead use Castle, and using a similar method to what I've described above, I get #ca123e, which looks like this:
Now that's a nice bold color, and since it's a red, I can use it as a way to say KEEP OUT. Or something.
The beauty of it is that while there are a finite number of potential colors/shades, for my puny human brain it's effectively infinite, and there's a significantly large number of different combinations I can try to get just the right shade for my intention.
In my opinion this would be best applied to digital witchcraft, but using a platform like Canva I can still design wards, sigils, etc. online and then print them out for real-world use.
So yeah. Hex code magic.
