Scale of one to ten, how mad do you think Kohga is when, after he describes his/the Clan’s long, difficult work to figure out how to use Zonai tech, to collect charges, and to reconstruct a mighty ancient construct to gift to Lord Ganon, and after he debuts said amazing piece of engineering (which he’s even dressed up to show it’s special and his)*…
Link can just stand back and let his own mech, that he built in like two days tops and that is powered by a sage who barely knows him and is following him more or less blindly because he’s the Princess’s Chosen Hero…
Bop his creation repeatedly with a spiky metal ball (his own signature weapon)?
Because I think the answer is over 9000.

So I’ve been playing Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and the moment I realized you could fuse a shield to a Zonai cart and essentially skateboard I had to draw this!
Hope you enjoy this silly drawing, and have an AWESOME day!!!

So a post I reblogged about no Dark Link in TotK being a missed opportunity got me thinking about how he could've been implemented:
You could find one of those journals in one of the Yiga outposts in the Depths talking about him. Here's how I think it could read:
Spotted the Hero in the Depths today. I attempted to approach while disguised as a member of the Zonai Survey Team.
Next Page
Bad idea. I was attacked immediately and viciously without hesitation. I barely escaped with my life!
Next Page
That... was not the Hero.
Next Page
Was that the Hero's Shadow spoken of in the old legends? It is said the Shadow would mirror the Hero's appearance and fighting skills... I believe it after that encounter.
Next Page
ATTENTION YIGA CLAN MEMBERS: If you spot this figure during your patrols, DO NOT APPROACH. This 'Shadow' will viciously attack anything and anyone that dares get near, even the Yiga Clan.
Next Page
Beware the Hero's Shadow.
Next Page
Glory to Master Kohga.
End
Dark Link would be patrolling the Depths, and upon spotting you, he will chase you down and attack, similar to the Gloom Hands. But unlike the Gloom Hands, you cannot escape by climbing to high ground and waiting for him to vanish. He will simply teleport up to you.
You can either deal enough damage to him, which will make him leave and reappear elsewhere in the Depths (like how the Yiga flee when defeated), or you can teleport far enough away so he loses track of you. Thankfully, he will not follow you to the Surface.
If he spots you while you're wearing the Dark Link outfit, he will be temporarily confused, giving you very limited time to run away or hide before he figures it out and starts attacking you. Similar to the Lynel Mask.
Also while you're wearing the Dark Link outfit, the Yiga will not ambush you, because they think you're the Hero's Shadow.
Dark Link's number of hearts will match that of the player's, just like in OoT. The stronger you get, the stronger he gets too.
He would also have the smartest enemy AI in the game, besides Ganondorf himself:
He dodges any thrown items or arrows shot at him, which means he cannot be cheesed with bombs. He will simply hop out of the blast radius before it lands. You must fight him in close melee combat.
He will mirror your strikes perfectly if you fight him with a one-handed sword and shield. However, he only wields a sword and shield, meaning you can attack him more easily with a different weapon, like... oh I don't know... a two-handed hammer? 😉
I'm not entirely sure what he'd drop upon defeat... Maybe his sword and shield?
Anyway, those are my thoughts. I'd love to hear other ideas :)
(EDIT: Added more stuff in a reblog!)

Link: Hero of the Wild
Tumblr media
I figured I'd get some Character descriptions set up for my boys, so starting off, we have Wild!
Games/Adventures: Breath of the Wild (BotW), Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)
Personality:
Wild is a very independent guy. He loves going off on his own, finding new things, getting into mischief, and forging his own path. He loves the company of his friends and is fiercely loyal and protective.
He's very goal driven, and once he puts his mind to a task, its only a matter of time before he reaches his goal (usually by some unconventional way). He's very curious, and always eager to try something new.
Though he often seems distracted, he's very aware of his surroundings, and keeps track of what's going on around him. He's rarely surprised, and often the only things that startle him are the things that appear out of nowhere.
overall, he's a wanderer, and a loyal friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
skills and abilities:
Wild has a huge skillset at his disposal. with the Purah Pad, and the Zonai abilities he gained on his latest adventure, he has a lot to work with.
Weapons and fighting- Wild tends to stick to Archery and long-distance weapons, but he can easily jump into a fight using a sword and shield. Using his Fuse ability, he can create whatever weapon he needs in the moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zonai abilities- After the events of TotK, Wild retained his Zonai abilities. Fuse, Ultrahand, and Ascend have helped him out in many a situation, and now that he's used to having them around, he'd never be able to go back to being a 'normal' Hylian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Relationships:
overall, Wild gets along with everyone. He's easygoing and friendly in nature and has a hard time picking a fight with anyone. Often times, he'll step in when others are fighting, and do his best to resolve the issue. He looks for the best in those around him, and will stand by his friends no matter what.
For his relationship with his Zelda(Flower), they have a very platonic relationship. Both of them are on the Aro/Ace spectrum and consider each other close family, rather than romantic or sexual partners.
Summary:
Wild's a pretty chill dude. he gets along with everyone fairly well, despite his habits of trying to fix everything on his own. he's got a wide variety of skills and items to help him and his friends whenever they get in a tight situation, and his goal is to help everyone out. He's focused, loyal, and protective to the very end.

Debris falling onto the surface of Hyrule from crumbling, ancient sky islands: sure. I can tell myself that they were shielded from perception for tens of thousands of years and the magic began to waft away when Ganondorf woke up. Now everything is coming apart and it’s raining architecture. Cool. Cloudy with a chance of marble. We can deal with this.
But there are so many places where basalt pillars are grafted into the near-vertical hillsides of Hyrule. Not only is there a distressing, inexplicable overlap of solid materials—like two parallel dimensions are converging—but the soil around the new stone has unnatural geometric patterns in it.
It just feels totally wrong. Though the patterns are static in the game, I have the headcanon that markings are growing like some kind of reanimated, ancient infection.
We know that the Zonai could produce pocket dimensions or travel across planes (reference: literally every shrine in TotK with a glowing green door in rock)… are those cases of overlapping rocks on the terrain some sort of dimensional bleed through the planes? Is the Zonai magic failing on multiple levels?

The Problem with the Gerudo | Orientalism in Legend of Zelda
EDIT: Because I made an updated and more in-depth version of this now that Tears of the Kingdom has been out longer, I've posted the updated link here in place of the original.
With the release of Tears of the Kingdom, we have to have this discussion again. The desert vai outfit was racist, not that the game removed it to address that, but the Gerudo are built entirely on orientalist tropes that go beyond just the outfit. We also talk about orientalism as shown in works like Aladdin and Ducktales.
Some Excerpts:
I'm not saying to abandon the idea of queering Link entirely, but only to understand that Legend of Zelda relies very heavily on a number of euro-fantasy tropes that rely on presenting numerous non-white people as exotic playthings and to consider the position that puts queer non-white folks in.
The entire scene of Link getting the Vai outfit and questioning the man giving it to him is built on transphobia.
This isn't queer expression, it's racial exoticism. They're not imagined as people with a society that makes sense, everything around them being so fixated on finding men and having Link and other white guys infiltrating their space.
Orientalism at its core is an imagined vision of real oppressed people by a dominant group in a way that excludes them from their own portrayal and reinforces real-world systemic oppression.
Entire fictional groups in Zelda such as the Rito, Twili, Zonai, Gorons, and Deku Scrubs to name a few incorporate racial coding in addition to the Gerudo. That recontextualizes how we look at say how the Deku are portrayed in Majora's Mask where they're jungle dwelling savages boiling this monkey alive because they think he kidnapped their princess. This is where racial coding comes into play because Nintendo is using a racial trope commonly used to depict Black and several native indigenous people as barbaric.
The Gerudo in Ocarina of Time are depicted as a race of desert-dwelling thieves. You're formally introduced gameplay wise when you have to sneak around their hideout and free these men who were seduced by what the game presents to us as dangerous but irresistible women. Despite being a group of almost entirely women, their society is patriarchal as the in-game lore states the lone man born every century is destined to be their leader. The Gerudo also go out into Hyrule to go find boyfriends.
Ocarina of Time is one of the earliest Zelda games to portray a human or human-like version of Ganon, the man of the desert he's repeatedly called, but they use racial coding with his human counterpart and make him an Arab man with some other cultures mashed in, which they also conflated with Islam to characterize him as evil and dangerous.
Ocarina of Time goes a step further as the recurring symbol of the Gerudo shown here is an altered version as seen on the mirror shield obtained in the spirit temple. The original symbol is a crescent moon and star very closely resembling the symbol of Islam. A common orientalist trope that does this is the conflation of Arabs with the religious faith of Islam. This was changed alongside prayer chanting used in music for the fire temple on some N64 cartridges and subsequent ports and the DS remake of Ocarina of Time.
The fact that Nintendo is a Japanese company doesn't magically make them immune to these issues, especially because 1) orientalism doesn't only encompass Asian people and 2) Even the term "Asian" encompasses countless subcommunities each with very distinct histories.

His memory was not as bad as he once portrayed it as.
While yes, it was once bad, it had gotten less...splotchy in the years past. He was recalling things he could not previously with less of a trigger needed.
One memory did need a trigger though. It happened during his last flash back to the time of the Zonai, when he figured out what happened with Zelda. It threw him from one bad black out right into the next. Only...This wasn't that bad. No, it was nice.
The familiar smell of blossoms spread around him, not soft like the Silent Princess but sharper-- like a cherry blossom. It was nostalgic and comforting in ways that no other memory had been. He didn't want to leave this one.
The heavy pounding of wings, leather and solid like a Gleeok's, didn't bring him any fear. No, instead it brought the evocative feeling of home. Something that he was used to being wrapped around him, shielding him from the icy feeling of Zelda's steely gaze.
Looking around, he felt his lips turn into a grin against his wishes at the sight of a figure in the sky. They had wings, wide and translucent, spread against the sky, casting the sun around them in a halo of pure light. A tail fell behind much thinner legs, the flares at the end flickering every now and then as the being hovered. In a fell swoop, the being allowed themselves to fall before catching the wind and soaring just before colliding into the dirt. They approached too quickly for him to turn and run, but instead of drawing his weapons, his muscles stayed frustratingly lax, letting the creature grow closer. Their wings beat cool breezes around him as they landed. He noticed their bare feet, adorned with rings and bracelets drafted in jewels and inky black claws that dug into the mud beneath them. There were matching claws on your fingers, along with more rings and bracelets, which reflected the light of the sun above them.
The wings spread once more, shuddering before collapsing against their back. Horns matching the color of the wings shined as the being shook their head free of their messy hair. Scales glittered along their cheekbones and the bridge of his nose, his hand raising to gently brush against the former. The being leaning into his hand, smoke bellowing out of their nostrils as a happy little hum left their-...your lips. A name flickered in and out of his memory as your hand came up to cup his own.
The memory faded out leaving him with nothing but a bittersweet yearning, a whisper of a name, and a collection of weeds leftover from the Dragon's Tear.
It wasn't enough. He needed to know more about you. He recognized the place in the memory, quickly making his way to the field. It was barren when he got there, no flowers, scorched with ashes. It made something bitter settle in his stomach but he got the desired results.
This time the sky was a blood red, bitter and angry with black spits of ash falling. That wasn't what had his breath catching in his throat. No. It was the wounds that littered your body. Burns, livid and still sizzling, decorated your once pristine skin as your once firm and whole wings laid in pure taters around you. Holes that couldn't have felt good smoked as you laid still. Horridly still. A hand on his arm tried pulling him away from the scene. He turned to see Zelda already disregarding your broken form, convinced that she could still unlock her powers in time. Blind to the fact that they had already lost. You were gone. You had given your life for their own. And She didn't care. He could do Ganon a favor then and there.
You had died protecting them from a raging gang of Lynels. You were dead. And Zelda didn't care. She just wanted him to fulfill his duty and carry on and unfortunately, he had no choice but to follow.
The memory filtered out once more, and he was left with a boiling rage and clenching fists. Angry energy with nowhere to go, poisoning his veins. So he did the only thing he could think of. He screamed. It was something bitter and full of raw passion, enough so that he felt something tear- if not pull in the very least.
In the very far distance, a dragon's roar echoed his own scream.
He took off running.
<><><><>
You were alive. Scarred and traumatized, scared and cautious, but alive. And you knew who he was. You didn't seem to believe it at first, but then your eyes caught the earring hanging from his ear. He had had it since he had awoken in the shrine and seemingly before even that. It had just always been apart of him.
One of your clawed fingers had slowly, so so slowly, reached for it, brushing against the jewelry. You were so warm. It was so nice against what he remembered as your cold and stony skin, so pale as opposed to your tanned skin as it was now.
"You still wear this." You had whispered, voice crackling as if you hadn't used it for Hylian speech patterns. "I had gifted it to you when we first started courting. I am surprised they have lasted as long as they have with your reckless behavior."
Without even thinking about it, his own hand reached to grace against your scales once more. And it felt right. "Of course I do. They reminded me of you," He had whispered back. While he was never certain of where they came from, they did remind him of comfort and safety, all things he could now identify as you. Gorgeous, effervescent you who was now back in his arms, growling lowly in your throat as he clung onto you. "Why do you have to go again?"
"We've been over this, my heart," You grumbled, shaking your head. "Mating season is dangerous. I cannot risk your own preservation for my pleasure."
He groaned, throwing enough of his weight onto you that you staggered just a bit, wings snapping out to support both his weight and your own. "I'm a big boy, I can handle it. Why must you leave me?"
"Link-"
He just had to stall a little longer. It had been weeks of work, to keep himself off of you, but he had done it, leaving you just as pent up as he felt. And now it was just a matter of stalling long enough you let your pretty little brain shut down and let him do all the thinking for once.
Just a little longer.
Your tail twitched behind you, swiping against the wood of your shared home. "I don't have time-"
"Just stay here with me, princess. Let me take away all your worries-" He nipped at that spot right under your ears, right where your scales ended. It made you shiver, muscles running lax for a moment before you stiffened.
"Link, don't-"
<><><>
"-Stop," You panted out, head falling against the pillows as your wings remained splayed out behind you. Smoke bellowed out from between your teeth as he kept you pinned with a hand on your throat, the cradle between his thumb and index finger cutting off your airway as he rammed his own hips against yours.
You were so pretty like this, brainless and drooling, doing anything he asked of you. Honestly, he doesn't know why you ever fought him on this. He would always win when if came to you. He knew he would make you bend, it was just a matter of time.
He couldn't believe you ever thought you could hurt him. Look at you! Drooling over his hand as you clung to the arm holding you down, nothing but mindless babbles leaving your lips; asking, begging for more. Begging for him to breed you and fill you.
He would do just that. Fill you to the brim. Fill you until your primal mind was satisfied. Fill you until there was no question on whether or not you would carry his young. You would be the mother of his child, no question about it. He would father your only children and he would finally get the ending he deserved. What you both had earned through bloodshed and tears, sweat and sacrifice. This was what everything had led to. This was what all the fighting had been for.
And Goddess above was it worth it.
The thought of you, as a mother, was soul satisfying as you cried out beneath him. He would do anything to see you so. You wanted it, he wanted it, what more to the equation was there?
After all, 'tis the season.

Botw/Totk headcanon: Sheikah NPCs beyond Kakariko
after impa being the Last of Her Kind for nearly 20 years, we were kind of spoiled with the era of wilds sheikah. still, kakariko is known for it's older population and botw makes a point to let us know paya isn't used to seeing people her age. this post is about asking 'where are they?' and filling in the gaps. being a peaceful farming village it makes sense the younger gens would want to leave as soon as they can for some adventure.
sheikah typically have hair on the grey-to-white scale (granté proves this isn't a requirement), and unlike the past games they have a greater diversity in eye colour. below is a list of hylian npcs that look too young to have greying hair that i hc are either from kakariko, or have some sheikah ancestry.
Tumblr media
from left to right: lecia, letty, mina, her brother mils by proxy, teli, juney, and baumar. i'll go into more detail about each under the cut, comparing them from the 2 games alongside some more headcanons. some of them i haven't found in totk yet, so i'll edit when i do.
pic on the left side is them in botw, totk on the right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mina is a treasure hunter looking for loot with her brother by the exchange ruins outside the great plateau. the siblings also show up in the dlc. they're trying to steal a sheikah heirloom back from the yiga hideout, though they don't know it's purpose - they just wanna sell it. in totk she walks on the path between lakeside stable and lurelin. she says that even treasure hunters deserve some fun once in a while, so we can assume she's takin' it easy. Mils, meanwhile...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...joined the zonai survey team, and moans about what tough work it is. he walks through pagos woods to the zonai ruins. he joined in the hopes it would lead him to treasure, but he hasn't had his lucky break yet. most hylians travel from stable to inn and can be assumed not to have a proper home due to the lasting effects of the calamity. this is my bias but i like to think he's talking about kakariko when he mentions home. let him grow some pumpkins and wrangle cuccos. he wishes to live a quiet life.
i find it sweet him and mina are both in faron. maybe they decided to split up and cover more ground? with mina off sunbathing and sipping mimosas in lurelin, mils got the short end of the stick again.
Tumblr media
Baumar:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
'i hope you die': lazy, cliché, unrealistic. 'i hope your favourite botw npc gets mushroomed and bowlcutted': it's scary, it's possible, it's happening to me right now. such was the fate of our poor resident shield-surfer bro from botw. known for many hit quotes such as 'let's go bamboo! yahoo!', 'shield surfing is like, totally radical, dude', and my favourite:
Tumblr media
in botw he rides his horse on the path between serenne and snowfield stable. in totk he's part of the fashion tour-group that run around hateno village. maybe he went to hebra to show his 'wicked' surfing moves to selmie and she said 'kid, if i let you out on the slopes you'll die. sorry'. his world was completely shattered beneath him like a broken shield, so he turned to cravats and puffy short shorts to cope.
his name is similar to the hills of baumer above deya village ruins. maybe he's a descendent of the few survivors. i wonder what his ancestors are thinking now, watching what he does with the gift of life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teli walks between fort hateno and hateno village. He sells ancient guardian parts and even mentions he trades them with Robbie. he has a high opinion of himself and tells you he's known across hyrule for his 'roguish good looks.' in totk he's one of the men in the 'Gourmets gone missing' Penn quest that gave himself food-poisoning by riverside stable. after which he scares away some cuccos and makes you wrangle them for a sidequest. just L after L for this dashing rogue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Juney, now famous for her rupee grinding sand seal minigame, i instantly recognised as the epic divorce woman from rito village. her attitude is just as surly as ever but they gave her a soft side. i like that every minigame location could not be further from hateno. you'll find that school someday queen.
she was a newly wed mad at her husband, jogo, for choosing a cold place for their honeymoon. he begs you to give him flint to cook some baked apples for her to save their already failing marriage.
Tumblr media
in totk they're not together, jogo inhabits a cabin in tabantha village ruins with another woman. he didn't give her enough baked apples.
Tumblr media
Letty walks along the path between lakeside stable and lurelin. she gives you cooking tips and that's pretty much it. i'm pretty sure i've met her as a yiga disguise more often than i've seen the real her. if anyone has found her in totk, please let me know.
Tumblr media
Lecia is a new character in totk. she's with the research team and plays a part in the foothill stable Penn quest. she kind of looks like a grown up Koko. maybe a distant relative? but maybe she's not sheikah. maybe the sight of all those pasty naked man nips traumatised her so bad she got marie-antoinette syndrome from the shock. i haven't seen her since.
thank you if you read to the end. to clarify i'm working on some fic stuff and that entails finding npcs across the overworld to give some more lore. it's a sheikah focused fic so i needed some characters other than the kakariko residents. it's also just fun fleshing out random npcs to make the world feel more lived in. again, i'm missing some details like what mina does before you save lurelin, so i'll edit this post in the future.

Zelda TOTK gameplay (Nintendo Direct 3.28.23)
First, what I think is the most important clip of the whole presentation:
Tumblr media
Sky Islands: Islands scattered across the sky. I think the Skyward Sword references are too easy to see at this point. I love the way you can get knocked off the islands and just dive like SS. You can see the whole map 🥺
Zonai Charge: this dropped after the sky island machine was beaten. could this be the mysterious green glow? Is this what powers Link's new arm abilities? Also shown throughout the trailer are items like fans that seem to run on a battery. I wonder if this could be the battery source or could be used to recharge these items?
Soldier Construct Item: could these function as the Guardian parts did in BOTW? The "construct" part makes me wonder if we can use them to build things.
The Golden Trees: it was mentioned that these trees are not the same as the ones on the surface as they can only be found in the Sky Islands. I wonder what their significance is and why are they so special?
The Zonai are Back: Glad to see the Zonai mentioned and in the foreground. I'm theorizing the Zonai and the Shiekah are distantly related to one another. I think it'd be really interesting to see another tribe that can do "magic" like the Shiekah have done in Zelda lore.
New abilities shown:
Tumblr media
1) Recall- reverses an object's movement through time. Demonstrated by reversing this rock's path to gain access to the sky islands
Tumblr media
2) Fuse- combines two objects into one. Demonstrated by combining both melee weapons and arrows with environmental objects like rocks and wood and also by using gathered materials like mushrooms and monster parts. Specifically notable are the keese eyes combined with arrows to make them never miss the shot; and the puff mushroom combined with the shield that throws up a smokescreen when hit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) Ultrahand- use to stick and unstick objects together. Demonstrated by creating a makeshift raft. Also noted how you can change the objects directions like the fans they used can be tilted downward as well to create an upward draft.
Tumblr media
4) Ascend- Link can swim through ceilings basically. "There are some limitations" but basically it's a way to cheese cliffs without using stamina
Personally I think the Fuse ability is gonna be so broken. I was floored when they showed the keese arrows like wtf that's almost cheating. Instant/backup elemental arrows at the drop of a hat now. More shenanigans with things like the korok leaf. Fuse also seems to mess with durability and damage output as well. They showed the tree branch + boulder as increased durability and damage, but I wonder if there would ever be a combo that would decrease the original weapon's stats? I also wonder if things like the fire/ice/thunder keese wings would add elemental power to weapons? Royal Claymore + thunder keese wing? Fkn broken.

Tears of the Kingdom: A Scene-by-Scene Analysis
Tears of the Kingdom: A Scene-by-Scene Analysis
At long last, we've gotten our title drop for the sequel to Breath of the Wild. No longer will I have to call this Bo2W in my tags. No longer shall I agonize over fake title leaks.
But I digress.
You're all here for one very specific thing, and it's time I delivered.
Tumblr media
This is our opening shot, a Zonai carving of someone...important. We don't know who, but there are some interesting details to extrapolate here.
Tumblr media
The eyes, for starters. A broadly-stroked circle with three triangles underneath.
Already, we can see some parallels.
Tumblr media
But the rest of this face is...more intriguing, to say the least.
Tumblr media
The ears, to start. A stylistic choice? Whoever this is, they have way longer ears than we usually see on Hylians. Key word there being "usually."
Tumblr media
Princess Zelda tends to have much longer ears than other Hylians, even Link. OoT Zel has the longest in full 3D modeling, but compare Skyward Sword Zel to Link and Groose:
Tumblr media
Hers are longer, narrower, and usually without earlobes.
Tumblr media
On top of the strange ears, we also have this...I believe it's a third eye. That's something I've never seen outside of things like bosses.
Tumblr media
Moving on to the lower body-
Tumblr media
It's a little hard to figure out, exactly, due to how angular and stylized everything is. But from what we can tell, our mysterious figure has long, flowing hair, a triangle at chest level, and a robe that reaches their feet.
I was trying to figure out what this ensemble looked like, when I remembered a specific line in Skyward Sword.
Tumblr media
And then it hit me.
Tumblr media
A tall, magnificent figure baring a triangle, with a flowing cowl and robes that meet her feet.
Even the strange dots on the figure's robe.
Tumblr media
They bear a rather striking resemblance to the chain on Skyward Zelda's ceremonial outfit.
Tumblr media
Given the prevalence of Skyward Sword references in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom both, and the Hylia statues everywhere, I think it's not a far stretch to say that this is a Zonai depiction of Hylia herself.
Tumblr media
The shot changes to show a battle underway, next:
Tumblr media
This gives us some more recognizable faces—the onslaught of Malice, a legion of Bokoblins and Moblins both. Interestingly, though, the Moblins carry a weapon I can’t identify.
Tumblr media
My first impression is a double-bladed scythe, but it could just as easily be wind marks behind a club, or a flag to herald their side. With the stylization, it’s hard to tell.
Against them, we have our armies, bearing shields with an interesting crest on them.
Tumblr media
A stretched version of Hylia’s insignia?
Tumblr media
Looking closer, we can identify these soldiers, at least, as Hylian (or some other similar pointy-eared race, like the Sheikah):
Tumblr media
Our next shot is a full view of our strange deity.
Tumblr media
And THIS gives us a lot to work with. We have Zonai writing we can analyze-
Tumblr media
What looks to be either a Sheikah tower or one of the dragon pillars in Faron
Tumblr media
Clouds-
Tumblr media
-and an island
Tumblr media
Which neatly parallels the floating isles we saw in previous trailers.
Tumblr media
Our new god(?) has their hands outstretched in offering
Tumblr media
Which is an...unusual pose. It’s once I’ve never seen on any of the Goddesses—Hylia always has her hands together, at her chese, while Din, Nayru, and Farore tend to be holding something-
Tumblr media
-have their hands to their chests-
Tumblr media
-or be posed like muses.
Tumblr media
But do you know where I have seen this arms-out pose?
Tumblr media
Hmm. Interesting.
But what intrigues me most of all are the symbols above our figure’s head.
Tumblr media
They’re all identical, seem to be giving off some sort of light, and most importantly, there are seven of them. And in the world of Hyrule, the number 7 in legend usually refers to one thing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Breath of the Wild, we saw up close and personal how Zelda’s destiny shaped itself. We saw her trials and struggles at the beginning, and the game ended with her finally realizing the power her birthright grants her. But that’s far from what her ancestors, historically, have been capable of. And, seeing that Ganondorf is returning...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of Ganondorf, our next shot appears to be him, from the regalia to the posing.
Tumblr media
Though, it is worth noting that the figure in the effigy has pointed ears, not rounded like the prince of darkness in the corner.
Also interesting to note, we can start to see malice creeping towards this figure at the bottom, in the form of red lines.
Tumblr media
We then go to a much more alive figure.
Tumblr media
This, from what I can tell, appears to be Zelda. Her hair flows, her dress has a sash around the waist, her arm is bare, and it looks like there’s a bracelet around her wrist, though it’s hard to tell for certain.
Tumblr media
But there are some other important details here, too. First of which, we have the Zonai text.
Tumblr media
It looks to be vertically formatted, like traditional Japanese would be. Looking close, we can see that these aren’t just random drawings to look cool, either; there are repeating symbols.
Tumblr media
What this means is that this is meant to be read, rather than just an environmental effect. And given the frequency of repetition and the message being so short, we could be seeing a departure from A-Z translations that Hylian has, and shifting more towards the alpha-syllabaries of OoT and Wind Waker with the Zonai text.
Tumblr media
Moving on, up in the corner, we see a doubled version of the marks above the strange deity’s head.
Tumblr media
And then the Zelda carving is holding her hand out to another.
Tumblr media
Another larger than hers, with bracelets about the wrist, pointed claw-like fingers, and markings up the arm.
My first thought is that this must be Link. It’s Zelda and another in legend, of course it must be, right? But in that case...why hide it? Why keep that side of the bond in shadow?
Of course, Link isn’t the only person to sport a hand like that in this game.
Tumblr media
And then, we get to the actual game footage.
Tumblr media
Starting off, we have Link pushing open a seat of double doors, with twin dragons on them.
Tumblr media
The handle looks to be eye-like
Tumblr media
And there’s faded writing on the circle.
Tumblr media
We see Link run out onto a platform, one of the strange shrine isles we saw in the original trailer ahead of him.
Tumblr media
I feel like these are going to have as much bearing as the Sheikah shrines in the first game.
Tumblr media
We get a glimpse of the building Link just came from in the background, big enough to be a dungeon. Then...
Tumblr media
What ARE those? Scrolls? Catridges? Whatever they are, they occupy the spot held by the Sheikah Slate, so we can assume they're powerful.
Tumblr media
Then we get a slightly-more-enhanced view of Link's corrupted hand. It looks like there's a slot in the top, maybe what the cartridges plug into?
I’m going to continue this in a reblog because Tumblr keeps deleting new additions I make to this post. I’ll update this with a link (ha) when that happens. Stay tuned!
