The posing here was fun! Not wholly happy with the anatomy here but I think it mostly turned out pretty well! It’s also been a while since I did some underpainting. Also, let me tell you: the Wicked Eraser in the back there was far less troublesome to draw than the goddamn Orichalcos symbol. And both were less tedious than drawing their cards.

By the way, S4 Mai really does have the best look out of any of her outfits. Her cameo in PoL is a close second. Also, it took me like ten-ish years to come to appreciate Keith’s long-sleeved shirt in R.

Is what is essentially the Pikachu of Yugioh: Duel Monsters a niche anime creature? Her name is written right there on your shirt also. Shall I name 5 other cards while I’m at it? Can you describe me 5 non-Duelmonsters shadow games from the OG?? I should have summoned Pillroach Credit Card. You have no idea just how much I know what your shirt is from.

Blue-Eyes White Dragon

Here we are. Finally. The legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragon! What is there really even to say here about a card so famous even non Yugioh fans have heard of it? You just gotta love this giant, all-powerful dragon. Sporting an iconic White Lightning charge up pose, there's just so much good composition happening here. I love how the watery energy spirals coalescing into the concentrated energy ball match the flow of BEWD's body, from the bent wings to the hunched over body and even the lifted up tail. They really help draw your eye across the whole art! Not to mention, it definitely emphasizes just how powerful this dragon is, when combined with that instantly recognizable fearsome expression.

Rating: 10/10, -Kaiba voice- My Blue-Eyes is better than any other monster!

I like the design of his true form. The colours are great, but not at all what I had expected, so this was born.

Up left we have the canon design. To the right we have what is the closest I had thought the colours would be.

Down left is one of the dragons seen in ep 59. And on the right, we have him in MIK uniform.

…and while drawing him, I was like “this is how I would draw the mane of Suicune… Suicune looking ass.” And then I coloured the MIK version and I was reminded of Darkrai. It doesn’t help that someone already mentioned that he looked like a Pokémon reject. Love your brain.

Diabellestarr the Dark Witch

Alright, I'm just gonna say it. She's hot. I've never said this about a Yugioh card before, and I highly, highly doubt I ever will again, but this is here and now. Her outfit really speaks to me; I'm terminally in love with red and black color schemes, and the addition of green here (instead of the light blue that likes to pop up in other art for some reason) is surprisingly fitting. I'm particularly obsessed with the detail put into all the folds of the semi-sleeve on her spell casting arm. And then of course, there's the fact that part of her coat looks alive, what with the little clawed arm sticking out of it. Sick. Her demonic half mask is cool as well (would maybe be a little cooler as a full mask? Maybe?). There's also her magic itself, which looks reminiscent of blood splatters (but pink!). It looks like some scans of the artwork have more of a blue tint to the background, but to me the green here feels so much more satisfying. It fits nicely with her own green accents, while similarly adding to the overall sorta sinister feel.
