Young Thug - Business Is Business

Young Thug has been a big center of attention lately following the arrest of both him, and a ton of other YSL affiliates, on RICO charges. While he's still been in jail for the past year, that hasn't stopped more of his music from being released. This includes his newest album, "Business Is Business", executive produced by Metro Boomin, which was just released quite recently.

"Business Is Business" manages to be another decent Young Thug album, which has mostly been the case for his music outside of his golden era. The writing undeniably has more of Thugger's humorous charisma and flexing to him, even if the one-liners don't always hit as well as they used to, and that's not even getting into some of the occasional bars that Thugger drops on here that can come off insanely weird. You get songs like "Abracadabra" and "Jonesboro" that feature some fantastic writing from Thugger that shows his writing at his most enjoyable and also shows Thugger continue to do a great job at creating some Trap bangers.

The beats on here are also really good. Metro once again creates some great beats for the album, making for a great duo with Young Thug that seems to mostly lead to songs with catchy beats that can end up being a highlight of the entire song. Other producers like F1LTHY, Southside and Weezy also deliver some good beats on this album that help give the album an equal amount of the usual energetic Thugger beats and a bit more of the mellow side of Thugger's beats that was heavily explored on his last album, "Punk"

We also get a decent guest selection on here. More of Thugger's usual guests show up here, like Drake who continues to exist on both "Parade on Cleveland" and "Oh U Went", Travis Scott, who is really good on "Abracadabra", Future who continues to work great next to Thugger on "Cars Bring Me Out", 21 Savage, who gives a great guest verse on "Want Me Dead", and Lil Uzi Vert, who does a meh YoungBoy impression on "Hellcat Kenny" You also have good guest appearances by BSlime & Lil Gotit on "Hoodie" and album closer "Global Access" has a good intro from Nate Reuss of fun. fame. Not someone I expected to show up on more than one Young Thug album, but hey, they seem to be a duo that works surprisingly well, so I don't mind (Also, a Nate Reuss resurgence would just be neat in general.)

"Business Is Business" is another good Young Thug album with some decent writing, solid beats from mainly Metro Boomin along with a few other mostly solid producers, and some good guests. Thuger fans will love this album from him, and if you've been wanting some collab project from Metro and Young Thug, then this album is mostly that wish coming true, with great execution to boot.

ATLANTA — Atlanta rapper Young Thug, who’s accused of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, Act and participation in a criminal street gang, is facing six new felony charges along with four others linked to the case.

A new indictment was filed in Fulton County Superior Court last week against the artist, whose real name is Jeffery Williams. He now faces additional charges of participation in criminal street gang activity, violation of the Georgia controlled substances act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a machine gun and drug charges, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The new charges stem from what investigators found during Williams’ arrest on the original May 9 indictment at his home in Atlanta’s upscale Buckhead neighborhood, authorities said.

The initial indictment contained 56 counts against 28 people for alleged involvement in crimes committed on behalf of the Young Slime Life street gang. The updated indictment now contains 65 counts, six of which apply to Williams.

At the time of Williams’ arrest, there was a question of whether the new charges would be folded into the RICO case. Court records now indicate that is what has been done.

Williams’ attorney, Brian Steel, said his client is innocent and looks forward to fighting the charges in court.

“Mr. Williams has committed absolutely no crimes,” Steel told the newspaper on Wednesday. “We cannot wait for a trial date.”
