The Beta Team That Never Was - Fanfiction Corner (BH6 Edition)

So all of this Peni Parker comic talk actually got me thinking about the process of her being included in my fanfiction.

I wish I could tell you it was a long and arduous process, but...

OK, maybe some of it was hard. But when you have a virtually endless supply of Marvel characters that you can use for possible teammates for Big Hero 6, you have to go with your gut.

We all know that the team will be Robbie, Aspen, Peni, Doreen (eventually), and Kate. But there were six other candidates that could have been in the mix as well.

And five of them have their emblems here:

These were made before I actually knew how to make hero emblems properly.

Some of them you might recognize. Some you may not. But we’re going to go through them all, from left to right.

And to start...it’s really hard to draw tiny hearts.

1.) Riri Williams/Ironheart - Ironically enough, it was around the time that Hiro started chasing Sirque around the town in “Portal Enemy” that I started brainstorming her. A teenage genius, stuck as to what to make, sees “Captain Cutie” and the chase on the news and gets brainstorming.

Thus, the Power Armor is born.

And she gets so excited that she bolts off to San Fransokyo to show her idol what she’s created.

And then, as per the Big Hero 6 Fanfiction Clause states...shenanigans ensue.

It was an interesting possibility, but the thought of Ironheart was really late into me doing the backstories of the people that I had chosen, so she was pushed aside. I don’t personally see me revisiting her in the future, but who knows?

2.) Nadia Van Dyne/The Wasp - Back when Karmi had first been pulled out of SFIT, there was a young woman who wanted to recruit her into a special organization. It was one that brought together the greatest female minds in their fields, and Karmi was on said recruitment list.

The organization?

Genius In action Research Labs, or G.I.R.L. for short. And it was led by the Wasp’s daughter, Nadia Pym (later changed to Nadia Van Dyne).

Plot-wise, this was probably the person that I got the farthest with, since the story would’ve been more of a focus on Karmi than anyone else. Also, the idea of writing someone with Bipolar Disorder (which Nadia was confirmed to have in her latest solo run) was intriguing if nothing else.

Unfortunately, it sort of dried up from there. A lack of a central conflict, uncertainty as to how many of the other girls (Taina, Priya, Shay, and Ying) to have, and how to handle her actual powers stopped it cold.

But seriously, how do you write in the ability to shrink to microscopic size? That’s not really a thing, even in a world as futuristic as San Fransokyo.

3.) America Chavez/Ms. America - The mere idea of a Superman-esque Latina teenager was enticing, especially because America, in her relatively short comic history, was with the Ultimates and the West Coast Avengers (meaning there was a possible Kate/Hawkeye angle). Making start-shaped portals was the Silent Sparrow angle, and the all-around badass, headstrong attitude would be the counter to Honey Lemon’s more nurturing personality.

But being from an alternate universe (which has very recently been retconned in the comics in part because she will be appearing in the MCU and Doctor Strange 2), no real villain to play off of, and becoming possibly way too overpowered for the BH6 universe, she was scrapped.

It’s quite a shame. I really like her in the comics that she’s in. Perhaps there will be an opportunity for her somewhere down the line...

4.) Alison Blaire/Dazzler - A pop star with light-based powers?

Or better yet, a struggling artist with acoustikinesis?

Her power to convert sound into light was what originally drew me to her. Something that could be made into a technological ability, unique enough to put a (pardon the pun) spotlight on it.

An actual blonde instead of whatever HL’s hair color is.

Heck, she even has a half-sister named Lois that could have been the antagonist (death tough, destruction waves, and the like).

But she quickly got lost in the fold. Better ideas (like Kate and Doreen) got more of my brainstorming, and she was eventually given up on.

But funnily enough...

It’s almost like she’s already in the show.

(See, for the people who may be new, one of the many Marvel theories that I’ve touched upon is that High Voltage is actually this universe’s version of Dazzler. Juniper is Alison and Barb is...well...Barbara London, Alison’s mom).

Hey, @baymaksu totally agrees with me kinda sort of.

5.) Cindy Moon/Silk - I knew right from the get-go that I wanted a Spider-person on the beta team. I also knew that I didn’t want Peter.

No offense to Peter Parker. He’s fine. But there’s a billion other Spiders out there, and I wanted someone out of the normal vein of Peter, as well as even Miles and Gwen.

And in came Cindy.

Locked away in The Bunker because of her spider powers manifesting, she was eventually released by Peter and thus began her entrance into the main Marvel world.

Her “unique ability” is her improved Spider-Sense, which Peter has said is even better than his own. That, plus her other powers, brought her the closest out of anyone to being a member of the Big Hero 6 Beta Team.

As we all know, however, Peni ended up getting the spot over Cindy (for the family angle with Hiro and the giant robot that she pilots). On the other hand, Cindy would later make her debut in the stinger of the last chapter of Along Came The S.P.I.D.E.R., along with Miles, Anya, and Joey.

Unlike Riri, Nadia, America, and Alison, Cindy and the rest of Peni’s little Spider Society are going to be showing up in future stories. And if I can get everything in order, they will be starring in their own story set in the Big Hero 6 universe.

Finally, I have no emblem for them, but the honorable mention goes to...

6.) Lunella Lafayette/Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur - Yes, there was a point in time where I was seriously considering putting a nine-year-old super genius and a giant red T-rex into my stories.

Ignoring the giant...”red flag” here, the reason why Luna never made it is the same reason why I haven’t put Rishi in anything yet. It’s because I don’t really know what to do with supergeniuses that young. Hiro is at least a teenager and thus has teenager-y problems to fall back on (like puberty and Karmi and all that jazz), but a nine-year-old? That’s a little too extreme for me.

When I was nine, I was busy playing with sticks in my backyard with my brother, not solving unsolvable puzzles from Bruce Banner.

...All that, and the giant dinosaur.

But hey, at least Disney is jumping on the MG/DD train. That’s good to see.

Crossover potential, perhaps?

P.S. - As I was finishing putting this post together, it occurred to me that I may get this possible question in the comments, so I’m going to head it off at the pass.

“You know that all of your possible superheroes are girls, right?”

First of all...sexist.

Second of all...true.

That was about 90% on accident. The actual team (Robbie, Aspen, Peni, Doreen, and Kate) has only one guy on it (two if you count Eli, three if you count Tippy-Toe).

I don’t really have a good explanation for that. I like all superheroes, but I think that the girl and woman superheroes need some spotlight, you know? I could have pulled people like Namor or Miles or the male Hawkeye into the mix, but to be honest, I find the characters I chose more interesting than a lot of the guy characters I was contemplating.

Of course, nothing is stopping any of you from using those characters in your stories. Be my guest, not that you really need my permission or anything.

But you can’t take Aspen. Aspen is mine. (Spoiler: Aspen is not mine.)

Hello darlings. I had lots of people send me songs that reminded them of BAON, And I think I mentioned every now and then I had certain songs in mind when writing chapters, so I thought I’d compile everything into a playlist for those of you who might be interested. :) If there are lyrics underneath a song, then that means it’s one I was actively listening to/daydreaming to when writing that scene so take that however you wish, lol.

Gorgeously Glamorous Gargalesis (Chapter 10)

Feet! Mettaton has feet! :D And no, I’m not talking about his pink boots! I’m talking about what’s inside his boots! A gray pair of metallic human-like feet! :D Ten toes and everything! And as a bonus, they have pink hearts on their arches! X3 Cute, right? Well, don’t you think it’s about time they get what’s coming to them? That being, an extremely thorough tickling. I know I do! Along with two pairs of extremely ticklish lizard monster feet! That’s right. The only way Mettaton will let Asriel, MK, and Rex tickle him and his feet is if Rocco and Lydia get the same exact treatment alongside him. Well, no complaints there! Lol XD So I guess the only thing left to say is, give the Mettaton, Rocco, and Lydia’s tootsies hell, boys! And maybe their upper bodies too, just for good measure! ;)

A few minutes later… outside the closet...

Mettaton: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *laughed Mettaton once more before stopping entirely* Ohohohoh my gohohod! Finally! Hahahahahahaha! Thahahahank you! Hahahahahahaha! Oh, thahahank you sohohoho much! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Eeeeeeeeeee! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha… Hahahahahahahahahaha… Hahahahahahaha… Hahaha… Haha… Haha… Ha… Ha… Ha...

Mettaton has just stopped laughing, which can only mean one thing. Rex is no longer tickling his feet! And with Rex no longer tickling his feet, Mettaton himself can now show the boys how to operate his contraptions while the lizard parents roll the extra one in and retract the wheels when it's placed where Mettaton wants it so it doesn't roll anywhere on them. But before any of that can happen, Mettaton would like to first reattach his legs.

Rocco: Here you go, Mettaton. *said Rocco with a chuckle, placing Mettaton's legs by his torso without his boots* Consider this a peace offering.

Mettaton: Oh, Lizard Dad, thank you so much! *effeminate laugh* Hello, beauties! *said Mettaton while reattaching his legs* Did you miss… wait, my… my boots! MY BOOTS! *he then freaked out once he noticed his boots were missing*

Lydia: Heeheeheeheeheehee! Yes? What about them, young man? *asked Lydia cheekily*

Mettaton: They're… They're gone! W-w-where are they?! Where are they?! What did you do with them?! *asked Mettaton worriedly, wondering where his boots are and why the lizard parents didn't give them back along with his entire lower body*

Rocco: Hahahahahaha! We hid them. Oh, but don't you worry, Johnny 5. Hahahaha! They're in a safe place. *claimed Rocco with a mischievous smile* (In the crawlspace in the closet. Hahahahaha!)

Mettaton: What… what the… Why the hell would you hide my boots?!

Lydia: Heeheeheehee! Why, to be sure that you fulfill your end of our deal, of course!

Rocco: Hahahaha! That's right. When we made our deal, you told us that the boys could tickle your feet. Those boots… are not your feet. Get the picture?

Mettaton: Uh… *robot cough* Well… Um… Hmm… Well...

Lydia: Yes, do you get the picture, young man? We don’t care if those boots are your equivalent of socks; they were never your real feet to begin with and they never will be either. *Lydia pointed out, announcing to everyone that Mettaton’s feet, ankles, and calves can feel tickles even when they’re protected by his boots*

Mettaton: Um……… (Damn you, you adorable lizard parents! You found another loophole in our agreement! It’s my job to find loopholes in agreements and/or contracts; not yours!)

Rocco and Lydia: ………

Mettaton: ………*sigh* Fine, yes. Yes, I get the picture. …God damn it! Why did Alphys have to design those scanners to work with any lizard tail?! *asked Mettaton in disbelief, prompting Rocco, Lydia, MK, and Asriel to look at him with confused expressions on their faces*

Asriel: Um… wow… ok, you're gonna have to explain that one to us, Mettaton.

Mettaton: (Oh crap! Not again!) *thought Mettaton to himself while bringing himself to his feet, disappointedly due to failing to keep yet another secret from Asriel and the lizards* Woooaaaah! *he then shouted, losing his balance briefly but regaining it just before he could fall (he lost his balance because he's used to the heels on his boots)* Scanners in the backs of my knees. I can remove my boots by sticking my index fingers in these holes for a few seconds. Or… *sigh* Alphys can remove them… instantly by inserting the tip of her tail in the holes.

In response to Mettaton's claim, everyone with the exception of Rex took a closer look at the backs of Mettaton's knees and what they saw left them all in shock.

Lydia: *gasp* Oh my goodness! They look just like Rex's tail scanner on his toy box!

MK: Holy moly! Holy moly, I knew those things looked familiar! Gosh darn it, Mettaton! Frisk, Chara, Blooky, and I could've tickled your feet last Wednesday?! And all I had to do to get your boots off was poke the backs of your knees with my tail?!

Mettaton: Yep. *answered Mettaton awkwardly, embarrassed that MK mentioned something about him being tickle tortured last Wednesday at Toriel's house; despite already telling the lizard parents about that incident himself*

MK: Oh man! Why did I have to tickle your knees with my fingers instead of my tail?! I considered using my tail! Why didn't I use my tail?!

Asriel: Because you needed something strong to hold his legs together. You said it yourself, MK. If you had let go of Mettaton's legs, he surely would've escaped!

MK: Heh. Oh yeah, good point.

Asriel: You're very talented with your tail, MK. *Asriel complimented* Why you couldn't hold umbrellas with it at one point is beyond me. Speaking of which, why couldn't you hold any of those Waterfall umbrellas with your tail, MK? You've got a strong tail, and umbrellas aren't that heavy. Why did you have so much trouble trying to hold one of those umbrellas?

MK: Um……...

Asriel struck a nerve there with MK. There's a good reason why the young lizard boy had problems holding umbrellas around the time he met Frisk but he doesn't want to tell Asriel what that reason is until the following Saturday when he demonstrates his magic to him and his sisters. So, to help MK keep his secret, Rocco and Lydia chimed in; and told Asriel that the umbrellas were simply too awkward to hold with a tail alone. That and they pointed out how much time the boys have until Frisk, Chara, GK, Izzy, and Patty call to video chat with the two of them. Two hours from now, the five girls all have something they'd like to show the two monster boys and Chara let them know in advance via text messages. The boys found it unusual of Chara to text them so early in advance. "Why not just show us right now?" the boys wondered after reading Chara's message. Well, whatever it is the girls want to show them, they're certain that it will be worth the wait. And while they're waiting, they can tickle Rocco, Lydia, and Mettaton! For a very, very long time! :D

Asriel and MK: *gasp* Oh yeah, that's right.

Lydia: Mm-hmm. And one of the things you can do while you're waiting is tickle the three of us. *said Lydia cheekily, wagging her tail and wiggling her six toes against the floor*

Rocco: *gasp* Oooooh. Yeah, it's getting to be around that time, isn't it? Hahahaha! Well then let's get started! Mettaton, show the boys how to operate those thingamabobbers of yours while this armless cutie and I roll the third one out here, will you? *instructed Rocco, making Lydia blush and Mettaton look at him with a "Don't tell me what to do!" look on his face XD*

Despite looking a bit annoyed, Mettaton did as he was told and while teaching the boys, he was pleased to see them quickly catch on to his instructions. The boys know a thing or two about engineering and robotics thanks to Gaster and Alphys; mostly by watching the two scientists themselves work but also by assisting them when given the opportunity to do so. And Sans too! But mostly Gaster and Alphys; Asriel learning more from the former and MK learning more from the latter. Meanwhile, Rocco and Lydia rolled out the third contraption; one with colors that represent the two of them! It had a chair that was two shades of yellow; the left half Rocco's skin color and the right half Lydia's skin color; and a set of stocks that were their favorite colors; the left half navy blue (Rocco's favorite color) and the right half burgundy (Lydia's favorite color). "Heh. Interesting color choices, Mettaton." the two lizard parents wondered to themselves while rolling it out into the open. But there's a reason why he made them those colors and a damn good reason too! He built his third tickling contraption as a present for Rocco and Lydia! :D Mettaton's no dummy! He knows that Rocco and Lydia enjoy tickling each other as much as they enjoy tickling their kids. X3

A few minutes later… after the third contraption was all set up…

Rocco: Ok, we're all set here! Haha!

Mettaton: *effeminate laugh* Beautiful, darling! Only question now is: who’s going to sit where?

Three tickling contraptions; the Mettaton EX-colored one on the left, the Rectangle Mettaton-colored one in the middle, and the Lizard parents-colored one on the right; who's going to sit where? Well, after thinking about it for at least 30 seconds, the three adults ultimately settled on lining up in order oldest to youngest; 41-year-old Rocco in the left pink chair with his large scaly 3-toed feet locked in black, light gray, and white stocks, 36-year-old Lydia in the middle gray chair with her scaly 3-toed feet locked in white, red, black, and yellow stocks, and 26-year-old Mettaton in the right yellow chair with his metal 5-toed feet locked in navy blue and burgundy stocks.

Rex: Ooooooooooooo… *cooed Rex happily, smiling big while grabbing his mother's feather with his tail*

Mettaton: Ooh, that reminds me. Here, darlings. These are for you. *said Mettaton to Asriel and MK, handing the former a black feather and the latter a pink feather after retrieving them from a compartment in his left thigh* Use them well. *he cooed, positioning himself in the yellow chair*

Rocco: Hahaha! And these too, boys! *Rocco chimed in, surprising everyone in the room when he handed Asriel a green toothbrush, MK a yellow toothbrush, and Rex a red toothbrush; due to how effective toothbrushes are on his big sensitive feet, even if the ones he just handed the boys were non-electric ones*

After locking the three adults in the contraptions, the boys took a few seconds of their time to decide who should tickle who first. Three boys, three adults; one boy for each adult locked in the stocks. Just like when they tickled Rocco’s feet earlier today, the three boys will tickle the adults on a rotating basis. Two full rotations to be exact; plus two set periods of time (one in between the two rotations and one after the second rotation) where they’ll let the contraptions tickle the adults on their own. But to start, Asriel will tickle Rocco (oldest child, oldest adult), MK will tickle Lydia (middle child, middle adult), and Rex will tickle Mettaton (youngest child, youngest adult) and during the first phase, they are planning to focus entirely on their feet without any assistance from the contraptions. With Rocco, Lydia, and Mettaton’s feet trapped in stocks, it’s hard to pass up an opportunity to tickle their feet with their fingers, toes, tails, and feathers and toothbrushes as well. Especially with their soles all taut and each of their individual toes tied to the stocks to render their feet nearly immobile during the next 40-60 minutes! :D

Moments later…

Asriel: Hahaha! Ok, dude, we ready to start?

MK: Not quite! We gotta get a chair for Rex first! *MK pointed out, noticing that Rex is too short to reach the Mettaton’s feet from the floor*

Asriel: Oh, right! Say, that red one over there should do nicely, don’t you think? *asked Asriel, pointing at a red chair that can be lifted by two strong pre-teen boys if they work together*

MK: Really? That one? Kinda heavy, don’t you think?

Asriel: Pfft. Not if we carry it together! Come on, you want Rex to be safe and comfortable at the same time, don’t you?

MK: Well, yeah, of course I do! He’s my baby brother!

Asriel: Then help me move that chair over here, please!

With that said, the boys moved the somewhat heavy red chair over to the contraption all the way on the right and when they slid it up tight against the stocks, it was a perfect fit! Mettaton’s heels were just above the edge of the seat cushion and Rex had enough room to maneuver with armrests serving as guard rails.

Rex: *coos* Gagabooboodidaba! Heeheeheeheehee!

MK: Heeheeheeheehee! You’re very welcome, Rex! *said MK, even if he couldn’t understand what Rex was saying*

After Rex was all situated, he, Asriel, and MK began tickling the three adults’ feet and they continued doing so for the next 15 minutes on a rotating basis in three 5-minute intervals; the only breaks being the moments when Asriel and MK moved the red chair from one contraption to another for Rex. During the first five-minute interval, Asriel tickled Rocco’s feet, MK tickled Lydia’s feet, and Rex tickled Mettaton’s feet.

Mettaton: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! *shrieked Mettaton the moment he felt the tip of a long tail and tiny claws scribble against his metal soles* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! NOHOHOHOHOHHO, REHEHEHEX, NOHOHOHOHOHO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA! NOHOHOHOHHOHOHOHOHOHOT AGAIN! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

Then during the second five-minute interval, Asriel tickled Mettaton’s feet, MK tickled Rocco’s feet, and Rex tickled Lydia’s feet.

Lydia: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!! *shrieked Lydia the moment she felt a feather twiddle in between her toes* GYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHA!! OHOHOHOH, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, STAHAHAHAHARTING OUT WITH MOHOHOHOHOMMY’S FEHEHEHEATHER, ARE WE?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA! Rocco and Mettaton: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!! *laughed Rocco and Mettaton frantically, clawed toes wiggling up and down the former soles and furry toes wiggling up and down the latter’s soles*

Then during the third and final five-minute interval of the first rotation, Asriel tickled Lydia’s feet, MK tickled Mettaton’s feet, and Rex tickled Rocco’s feet.

Rocco: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! HAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!! OHOHOHOHOHO NOHOHOHOHOHO, NOHOHOHOHOT THAHAHAHAHAHAT!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! Lydia and Mettaton: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! After tickling the adults’ feet with their fingers, toes, and tails as well as feathers and toothbrushes, Asriel and MK moved the red chair away from Rocco’s stocks and prepared the contraptions’ tickle modes. In a few seconds, the boys will let the contraptions tickle the adults on their own but how they will tickle them is up to the boys. There are two options. 1. They can do what Mettaton did; deploy one or a few feather rollers at a time and then spin the fuzzy wires around their toes; or 2. They can just deploy and activate everything all at once. …They chose the latter. They took a vote and it was unanimous. XD

Rocco, Lydia, and Mettaton: EEEEEEEEEEP/EEEEEEEEEEK/EEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHA!!!

At the press of a button on each of the contraptions' control panels, the boys deployed every single feather roller they could and more. Poor Rocco, Lydia, and Mettaton! 12 feather rollers rolling up and down their taut soles (4 for each adult), 22 mini feather rollers rolling up and down the pads of each of their toes (6 for each lizard parent, 10 for Mettaton), 16 mini feather rollers rolling against every individual space in between their toes (4 for each lizard parent, 8 for Mettaton), and 22 fuzzy wires spinning rapidly around the bases and stems of each of their toes (6 for each lizard parent, 10 for Mettaton); the moment every single one of those things began tickling their soles and toes, they screamed with hearty laughter that echoed throughout the entire basement and involuntarily begged for mercy after just two seconds of outlandish tickle torture. Well, Rocco and Lydia did. Mettaton on the other hand commented on the boys' decision to activate everything all at once, criticizing and praising them at the same time.

Lydia: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! OHOHOHOH MY GOOHOOHOOHOODNESS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! MEHEHEHERCY, BOHOHOHOYS!!! HAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAAHA!!! MEHEHEHEHERCY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHA!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! SHAHAHHAHAME ON YOU!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! ALSO, WEHEHEHELL DOHOHOHONE!!! For five minutes, the boys let the contraptions tickle the adults' feet on their own and while this was happening, the boys just kicked back and watched them work; Asriel sitting on the couch with his bare feet up on a footrest and Rex sitting on his lap and MK sitting next to them with his bare feet up as well. It was quite the joy seeing Rocco, Lydia, and Mettaton's priceless reactions to the tickle torture and hearing their hearty laughter. And there will surely be more of it once some upper body tickling is thrown into the mix. But before deploying the hands out of the chairs, the boys would like to do some upper body tickling themselves; with their fingers, toes, tails, feathers, and toothbrushes on a rotating basis once again while the feather rollers and fuzzy wires continue tickling their feet. The only problem with that plan is that Rocco and Mettaton can still move their arms whenever they please. Or so they thought. After playing around with the contraptions' control panels for a few seconds, they found out that they can use the contraptions' arms to hold Rocco and Mettaton's arms above their heads, giving them easy access to their armpits and sides, and also grab arms if someone were to deploy/grow a second pair. XD None for Lydia since she doesn't have a physical pair of arms and has difficulty summoning her magic ones while she's being tickled. Especially on her feet!

Mettaton: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! OHOHOHOH NOHOHOHO!!! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! YOU FOHOHOHOUND OUT, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, ABOUT, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, THE AHAHAHAHARMS' SECOND FUHUHUHUNCTION!!! *shouted Mettaton through his laughter, both him and Rocco struggling to move their arms* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Rocco and Lydia: HAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHA HAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

Now that Rocco and Mettaton can't move their arms, the boys can begin the upper body tickling phase. For fifteen minutes, in three five-minute intervals, the boys will tickle the adults' upper bodies (armpits, sides, necks, ribs, bellies, and hips) on a rotating basis and while rotating, one of the older boys will have to move Rex over from one adults' lap to another since the chairs are too tall for him to climb on or off of without any assistance. Due to Rex's small size, he will need to sit or stand in the chair with at least one of his victims at all times. But as for the two older boys themselves, they can either stand next to their victims as they tickle them or sit on their victims' legs or laps in the chairs. They'll have to do the latter if they plan on tickling them with all of their toes at once. But for the most part, they can just stand beside them.

Rocco, Lydia, and Mettaton: EEEEEEEEEEEEP/EEEEEEEEEEEEK/EEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAHAHAAHAAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

During the first five-minute interval, Asriel tickled Rocco, lifting his shirt when necessary to effectively tickle him with his fluffy tail, MK tickled Lydia, and Rex tickled Mettaton.

Rocco: YAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! *yelled Rocco the moment he felt fluffy tail fur brush against his belly after Asriel lifted his shirt up a little* HAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! FUHUHUHUHUR!!! HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!! NOHOHOT THE FUHUHUHUR, NOHOHOHOT THE FUHUHUHUR!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA EEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Lydia and Mettaton: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!

Then during the second-minute interval, Asriel tickled Mettaton, MK tickled Rocco, and Rex tickled Lydia and at one point during this interval, Asriel leaned over Mettaton in a crab walk position to effectively brush tail against his core. XD He had no choice due to how short it is compared to the lizards’ tails.

Rocco and Lydia: EEEEEEEEEEP/EEEEEEEEEEK!!! *the lizard parents squealed and shrieked the moment they felt the tips of their sons' tails swirling inside their bellybuttons; MK's tail swirling inside Rocco's bellybutton underneath his Henley shirt and Rex's tail swirling inside Lydia's bellybutton on the outside of her silk dress* HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHA!!! NOHOHO, BOYS, NOHOHOHOT THEHEHERE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEP/EEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEE!!!

Mettaton: BWAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! SIRE, NOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!! *pleaded Mettaton the moment he felt Asriel's fluffy tail brush against his heart-shaped core, his most ticklish spot* HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHA!!! SOHOHOHOHOHO FLUHUHUHUFFY!!! HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Then last but not least, during the third five-minute interval, Asriel tickled Lydia (with everything but his tail since he had no access to any bare spots on her torso), MK tickled Mettaton, and Rex tickled Rocco.

Lydia: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! *shrieked Lydia the moment she felt Asriel's furry toes wiggling against her neck* HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! AZZY, YOU FIEEHEEHEEHEEHEEND!!! *she then shouted without any actual spite, shaking her head as much as she could* HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!! OHOHOHOH MY GOOHOOHOODNESS, THAHAHAHAHAT TICKLES SOHOHOHO MUCH!!! *she claimed, making Asriel giggle in response* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *SQUEAK* HEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEE!!!

Rocco and Mettaton: HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!! SOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO DOHOHOHOHOES THIS!!! *claimed Rocco and Mettaton at the same time through their hearty laughter, Rex and MK wiggling their clawed toes up and down their bellies* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Rocco: HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA UUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

Mettaton: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA!!! MK, DAHAHAHHARLING, STOHOHOHOP!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! STOHOHOHOHOP!!! HAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOHOHOHOUR TOHOHOHOES ARE GOHOHOHOHING TO MAKE ME BLOHOHOHOW A FUHUHUHUSE!!! *claimed Mettaton while continuing to laugh, making MK proud to know that his toes are super effective against the glamorous robot himself* EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!

After the third and final rotation, Asriel and MK, after removing Rex from Rocco's lap, stopped tickling the adults and moved over to the contraptions' control panels. Tickling the adults' upper bodies with their fingers, toes, tails, feathers, and toothbrushes while the contraptions tickle their feet with feather rollers and fuzzy wires was fun and after fulfilling that objective, they deployed all of the other hands out of the chairs and made them, along with the ones that were already out, tickle the adults' upper bodies for the rest of the session while they sit back on the couch and watch; both boys sitting next to each other with their feet up on a footrest and Rex sitting either next to them or on one of their laps. For the rest of the session, each of the three adults had 8 hands tickling their upper bodies; 2 hands kneading their sides and hips, 2 hands wiggling their fingers in the hollows of their armpits (or in Lydia's case, where her armpits would be if she had arms like Rocco), 2 hands kneading their ribs, and 2 hands scribbling their fingers against their bellies. Plus feather rollers tickling their soles, the pads of their toes, and the spaces in between their toes AND fuzzy wires spinning around the bases and stems of their toes! They were in hell! At least 15 minutes of pure unholy ticklish hell as what was essentially the most maniacal laughter heard today poured from their mouths and echoed throughout the entire basement and first floor of the house! And they enjoyed every second of it! Even Mettaton, the least ticklish of the three adults! Speaking of Mettaton, he is planning to visit Muffet again this upcoming Friday; to tickle her a second time with help from Blooky, who will be at Muffet's house by the time he shows up there. And next time, he'll be sure to tickle her with his contraptions and mini Mettatons; even if he has to do so before or after participating in an epic tickle battle with Muffet and Blooky against a certain powerful individual. But what are the chances of something like that happening? XD

After the tickle session was over, Asriel and MK turned off the contraptions and asked the adults if they were ok; and fortunately, they were. Then during the remainder of their waiting period, Mettaton told everyone a story about the first time he ever tickled Alphys. It was a cute story from start to finish and it explained why he enjoys tickling feet more than every other part of the body. Then shortly after Mettaton finished telling his story, Asriel and MK hugged him goodbye and went upstairs to MK's room to video chat with their sisters as well as Izzy and Patty. Just as the boys predicted, Frisk and Chara were right on schedule to not only chat with them but also to show them something very special. Their hands with painted fingernails and their feet in brand new pairs of flip flops with painted toenails! :D Frisk and Chara did it! They finally caved and let Izzy and Patty paint their nails! Being the tomboyish girls that they are, they've never once had their nails painted and have never had any desire to have them painted. Same goes for flip flops. All their lives, they've never had any desire to wear flip flops. But after basically being worn down by Izzy and Patty, two girls that almost always have their nails painted and regularly wear flip flops during 3 of the 4 seasons, however, they changed their minds and what the boys saw was a beautiful sight; Frisk in blue flip flops with magenta nail polish and Chara in brown flip flops with red nail polish. Both boys couldn't stop blushing to save their own lives! And that was just the beginning! After Frisk and Chara finished showing off their hands and feet, Izzy and Patty showed off their new fresh coats of nail polish on their fingers and toes as well. They even put on their flip flops; just for Asriel and MK. The two boys probably would've enjoyed seeing their feet more without any footwear whatsoever but it was still a nice gesture nonetheless. XD And as usual, Izzy had blue nail polish and pink flip flops and Patty had cyan nail polish and white flip flops. But that wasn't all! After Izzy and Patty finished showing off their nails to the boys, GK, stepped in and propped her feet up to show off her claws! Yes, even GK had her claws painted; dark gray to match her dark gray pants as well as the dark gray sections on her checker-patterned shirt. Yes, GK is wearing dark gray pants and a checker-patterned shirt today. She doesn't always wear dark gray leggings and a checker-patterned mini dress. Overall, what the girls did for the boys was pretty dang cute. And to top it all off, all five of them texted the boys pictures of their hands and feet shortly after they finished video chatting with them. Sure, it was mostly pics of their painted nails/claws but they included some pics of their soles as well just for good measure, which made MK especially happy. X3 Then after looking at the girls' pictures, the two boys spent the rest of the night playing in a blanket fort they made. Rex even joined them for a little while but left when he started to get heavy eyes. He had a big day! He, Asriel, and MK all did! And playing in a blanket fort together was quite possibly the most enjoyable way to end such a wonderful night of hijinks. Everything was perfect… except for one thing. No plate of s'mores to snack on. Not to worry though, they can always go downstairs and make some, which is exactly what MK did after playing with Asriel and Rex in their blanket fort for about 20 minutes.

Later that night… when MK went down to make s'mores…

Rocco: Oh hey, champ. Did you come down to make some s'mores? *asked Rocco curiously with a smile, just seconds after he and Lydia set some graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows on the kitchen counter*

MK: Oh! Hehe. Well, look at you, Dad! If I had known you were going to make s'mores for us, I would've stayed upstairs!

Rocco: Haha! Now just what makes you think I'm making these for you? *joked Rocco*

MK: W-well, because, you know…

Rocco: Hahahaha! I'd be happy to, champ! And while you're here, you can help me roast the marshmallows.

MK: Hehe. Sure, Dad. *said MK, agreeing to help his father but was rendered confused when he stood still and did absolutely nothing*

Rocco: ……...

MK: ...Uh, Dad?

Rocco: Hmm? What is it, MK?

MK: Y-you're supposed to create green fire in the palm of one of your hands.

Rocco: Hmm… yes, I suppose I could do that. Or, we could roast them with your fire magic… *said Rocco after noticing that Asriel didn't follow MK downstairs*

MK: What? Really? W-w-w-what if Az comes down downstairs? *MK stammered, worried that Asriel might see his fire magic in action* You know I don't want him to see this until Saturday!

Lydia: Heeheeheehee. Not to worry, honey puff. I'll be your lookout. *said Lydia with a blissful smile, seconds before keeping an eye on the staircase*

MK: *gasp* Oh my gosh! Thank you, Mom! Thank you

Lydia: Heeheeheehee! Any time, my dear.

After Lydia moved into position, MK did his thing. But instead of just lighting fire in the palm of one of his robotic hands, he also did something that his father and Alphys are incapable of. That being, LIGHTING HIS ENTIRE TAIL ON FIRE!!! Every inch from its base all the way to its tip! :O And as for its color, it was orange.

Rocco: Hahahahaha! Yeah! That's my boy! Tail fire is best fire! *said Rocco, proud of MK and a little jealous since he can't light his own tail on fire*

MK: Hahahaha! You got that right, Dad! Hahahaha! (Hehehe. Can't wait to show this to you, Frisk, and Chara this Saturday, Az… along with a few… other surprises. Hehehehe.)

She studied as a researcher at first but then decided to become a Tourist Guide, showing her customers around the country and customs. She can be quite excited about certain Topics, for example Rex Lapis or the Jade chamber, however she keeps a Level head when presenting facts. Her thirst for knowledge is hard to quench and she has tons of theories she loves to make Up in her head. Is a terrible Cook, but more in the way that her good looks horrible but actually tasted good.

Lotus flowers are her favourite and she tends to build them in her Outfits a Lot.

Fear of the unknown

Chapter 14

You walk with Rex to the hanger bay, you're carrying your helmet and you see more of the 501st, including Fives and Jesse. You walk up to the both of them.

"Hey y/n, how do you like the armor? It looks great." You smile at Fives, him and Jesse did a nice job on it.

"Thanks, I love it. You guys did a great job, it fits perfectly." They both smile at you, Fives is glad that it fits you, him, Jesse and Rex worked hard on it.

"That's great, we all worked hard to make sure it would fit perfectly on you." Jesse says, he's so glad it fit perfectly.

"Thanks guys, I know that you worked hard on it."

"Of course we did cyare, we have to have our favorite mechanic protected." Jesse and Fives smile along with Rex and you raise an eyebrow at them.

"How can I be your favorite when I've only worked here for a little while."

"You were our favorite mechanic before you even worked with us. Especially Rex's favorite." You laugh at Rex's blush, you should have known that you were his favorite.

"You guys are hilarious, so how long until we're going planetside."

"It shouldn't be long now, you excited cyare." Rex is smiling and you nod, excited to see what Ryloth is like.

"Yeah, definitely." Rex laughs, he finds it cute that you're so excited.

"That's good. Now come on, it looks like the gunships are ready" the three of you board a gunship, heading down to Ryloth. Once you get to the planet's surface you hop off and look around, you're on the freedom fighters base.

Rex and the other troopers help out the freedom fighters, gathering and storing supplies that they brought to help and keeping an eye on Separatist activity.

After a few hours Rex finally has time to go exploring with you, you're excited to see a new planet, you pull Rex around looking at the different things here. There's so many things you've never seen before, Rex is letting you pull him around, laughing the whole time. He's going to let you have your fun while you can.

"Hey y/n, Rex!" You turn away from what you're looking at, immediately seeing two 212th troopers, Waxer and Boil.

"Waxer, Boil. It's nice to see you, how are you doing." You and Rex walk over to them, you haven't seen them in a while. The last time you saw them was when they both were on the Resolute with the 212th, it was a little after Waxer's close call on Umbara.

"It's nice to see you two, just looking around at the place." You smile at them and Rex speaks up.

"Yeah, y/n here has never been on Ryloth before. She's been dragging me around everywhere." You feel heat rise to your cheek's as you glare at Rex, all three of them laughing at you.

"There's a village close to here, we can see if General Skywalker will allow us to go. The people know is there and we were going to go anyway." You nod at Waxer and turn to Rex to ask, not knowing if you should stay at the base.

"We can go, as long as the General says it's okay."

"Yes!" Rex, Boil and Waxer all laugh at your excitement as you walk and try to find Anakin. You finally find him talking to Cham Syndulla, you notice that he has a little girl with him who can't be older than 8.

She's a green twilek with pretty green eyes, and she's playing with a little toy ship. Syndulla and the little girl walk away and Anakin turns to the three of you.

"Rex, what can I do for the four of you."

We were wondering if we could go to a twilek village not to far away, y/n has never been on Ryloth before so she wants to explore. But if you need us here..."

"No, go ahead. We're good here, I'll comm you if you're needed. Have fun y/n" you nod, ready to get going.

"Thanks Anakin." You start going and the boys follow behind you, Rex saying his thanks to Anakin as well.

You allow Waxer and Boil to lead the way to the village, you can't wait to check it out. You've got to remember yoget stuff for cooking and baking before you leave but that can wait. You get to the village and start pulling Rex around again, Waxer and Boil following behind you, chuckling.

"Nerra! Nerra!" You hear a child's voice and turn just in time to see a little blue twilek girl run into Waxer's arms. She looks just like the doodle on his helmet.

"Numa, it's good to see you. Y/n, Rex this is Numa. She's a young twilek girl we befriended the first time we were here." You walk over to Waxer, Boil and the little girl.

"Hello Numa, I'm y/n." The youngling giggles and boops your nose. She's adorable.

"So your the lil'un who Waxer met, and painted on his helmet." You turn to Rex as he walks over to the youngling and shakes her hand playfully. He only uses two fingers while she shakes with her full hand. The youngling laughs at him.

"Numa seems to like you." Rex looks at Boil and smile's smugly.

"Well youngling's just naturally like me." Boil scoffs at that, grumpy as usual.

"She's a cute younling, but why does she call you Nerra?" Both Waxer and Boil smile at that.

"It means brother, she calls us her brother's. That's why we come and visit her whenever we can." You smile, that's so sweet. You love kids, they're so adorable. You hope to have one someday.

"Well, I hope to tag along to visit this little cutie next time. If you don't mind." They both nod, and Numa laughs. Speaking something in her language.

"We don't mind, we'd love company once in a while. What about you Rex." Rex nods, he'd love to come visit the Lil'un to.

"We'd love to come next time Vod, she's an adorable youngling." You chuckle, Rex is always adorable with youngling's. He's always so good with them.

"Do you guys want to grab some food. I don't know about you four but I'm starving." You all nod, even Numa. Waxer's tickling her stomach and playing with her, anyone can see that she's more than just a little sister to him.

He acts almost fatherly towards her, you find it absolutely adorable. You all head to grab some food, you and Rex holding hands the whole way.

This is her coming to terms with the fact that maybe it’s for the best that she won’t stay around forever. Not being immortal allows her to live in the moment and savor all the time she has.

oh! this is so random but i had this really weird dream where i was a in my school pool and i was a mermaid and my old dog maxx was a dolphin? it was really sweet, i’ve had a dream just like it when i was young, except i was at my grandparents pool not the school one. and in the deep end side of the pool (at the school) there was this hole and i went inside it after a while it led to this huge underground city. it was so cool and pretty. yeah that was so random haha

Chapter 34 - The Queen’s Wings

~27 October 2007, early afternoon~

“Aww, you look cuuuuute!” Téa looked at the wedding outfit she, Serenity, and Mai worked hard to make for Weevil. Weevil got into the front seat of the limo Mai drove while Camellia, Serenity, Téa, Ptera, Tricera, and the other bridesmaids got in the back seats.

But before Mai drove off, Weevil asked, “Hey, where’s Amber?”

“Daddy!” Amber nearly tripped while running to the limo, scattering a few of the flowers she carried in her basket.

“Whoa there, little lady!” Téa caught Amber before she could fall and picked up the flowers she dropped.

“Thank you, Auntie Téa!” Amber hugged Téa’s neck as she brought her in the limo that finally took off. Amber turned to Espa’s 16-month-old daughter, Artemis, and offered her a yellow rose. “Hey, Arte, you want this?”

“Aww…” Weevil smiled as he spoke to his daughter. “I picked the perfect flower girl.”

“And your stepcousin Mokuba picked the perfect flowers,” Camellia remarked. “And the perfect limo. And just about everything else.”

“Actually, Spinos picked the flowers. He paid for a good deal of the wedding too, you know.”

“Did he?” Ptera smiled at the thought of her former lover. “That was thoughtful of him.”

“Psst.” Espa leaned slightly forward to awaken Weevil from an apparent nap. “Weevil, we’re here.”

“Hmm… Wha-” Weevil saw everyone else already exiting the limo and making way for the extravagant displays by the famous Domino City T.V. “Thanks for reminding me! I’m glad you decided to ride with us instead of with Rex. Even though you’re a groomsman.”

“I couldn’t help it.” Espa carried Arte out of the limo and, once he met with his brothers, he handed her to the next oldest one. Mako soon joined them with Caesar, their son. “This cutie patootie wanted to ride with her best friend.”

“You’re such an airhead sometimes, Daddy!” Amber giggled as she walked down the aisle while throwing flowers.

“None of that smart mouth, young lady!” Weevil chided while he proceeded down the aisle, with Camellia by his side and Mai holding his veil.

“Hehehe… She’s just like you when you were that age.” Camellia chuckled. “I remember it like it was yesterday.”

“You’re literally walking me down the aisle.” Weevil squinted; he could barely see the wedding awning, with lush greenery. “Do you really think this is the best time to reminisce about how I was a troublemaking toddler?”

“Yes, it is.” Camellia cried a little. “I lost eleven years with you… I’m so proud of how far you’ve come since then, my son.”

At the sound of Duke playing the church organs, the ceremony began in earnest, drawing attention from passers-by.

“Hmm?” One of Weevil’s opponents from Duelist Kingdom took notice of the bug duelist. “Oooh, it’s that nasty Weevil Underwood. And he’s… getting married?”

“We might as well stick around to see the unlucky schmuck whom he’s marrying,” replied the kid whom Weevil tricked in Battle City.

“Mother, I can’t do this! I’ve rehearsed my vows, like, a thousand times and yet I think I’ve forgotten most of them already!” Weevil’s heart raced faster as he could now see his husband-to-be. Rex wore a tuxedo resembling Black Tyranno, and his chestnut locks were tied back with a dinosaur claw hair clip.

“Relax, sweetie,” Camellia reassured as she stepped back, now that her son had reached the T.V. “Remember, you’re the smartest guy in all of Domino City.”

Weevil stammered as he held Rex’s hands, with Mokuba about to start officiating the wedding. “Y-Yo, dude.”

“Pfft…” As best man, Joey stood behind Rex. “‘Smartest guy in all of Domino City,’ huh?”

“Shut up, Joey!” As if Weevil felt nervous enough, Joey’s teasing didn’t make it any better. “Or I just might sneak a caterpillar in your shirt when you get married!”

“Hey.” Rex squeezed Weevil’s hands tighter. “You know how Joey is. Just ignore him.”

“Dear friends, family, and citizens of Domino City,” Mokuba began the ceremony, which by this point had drawn a large crowd. The close friends and family of Rex and Weevil took their seats. The sun looked upon them from directly above, the sunlight glistening off of the awning’s flowers and the variety of insects crawling throughout it. “We are gathered here today to witness the union of Rex Leonidas Raptor and Weevil Henry Underwood in marriage. We welcome and thank each and every one of you for being a part of this wonderful occasion. As with their careers as duelists, their journey as a married couple will test and bring out the best in them. And just like their latest careers as duelists, they will face trials and tribulations, but always come out strong in the end. You are all gathered here because you have helped these two young men and have a bond with them, one way or another. As for me, I couldn’t be more proud that my cousin, Rex, has chosen me to officiate his wedding. The grooms have each prepared vows that they will recite now.”

“M-My turn!” Weevil piped up, much to the surprise of all. “I don’t need to rehearse to let all of Domino City know just how much I love you. I don’t need to rehearse to remember how united we are in our desire for revenge against several duelists. Particularly Yugi, Atem, and ESPECIALLY Joey.”

“ESPECIALLY me, huh?” Joey couldn’t help but laugh again.

“Spoken like a true duelist,” Yugi spoke to his former other self.

“You said it, partner,” replied Atem.

“Aw, heck, Rex. I’ve prepared a handwritten speech for my salutatorian address. But on this day, I want to speak from the heart. Even now, I am still in awe that a ‘dung beetle’ like me is worthy of your love. While everyone in this city hated me, you were the only one to show me love all those years ago. Even after I went mad and tried to kill you, you still loved me. I am so grateful that we have found each other, and I vow to love you forever.”

“See? What did I tell you?” Camellia winked.

“I bet I can outdo that. ” Rex smirked.

“Go ahead and try, dino brain.”

“Gladly, bug boy.” Rex took a deep breath before beginning his vows. “I am thankful for all the blessings we have, not the least of which is our adorable daughter Ambrosia. If not for Mai and her expertise, we wouldn’t have such a bundle of joy.”

“Aww, you’re too kind, Rex.” Mai sat next to Amber and Téa.

“Yet I haven’t always been kind; I’ll be the first to admit that I’m still as arrogant as they come. But several people have made me appreciate friendship more - not the least of whom is you, Weeves. You were my first friend, and I couldn’t be happier that we made that same dumb mistake of showing up to regionals prelims a day early.” This tale elicited several giggles from the crowd’s members, even from those who were not explicitly invited. “I had no idea that from there, I would quickly fall in love with that rich boy I met, and that he would be the man I swear my eternal love to on this day. Waiting those three years to confess my love was so worth it.”

“Hehe…” Weevil laughed in his signature way. “I think I win.”

“Yeah, right.”

“Even at the altar, you guys are still rivals. Let’s just say you both win.” Mokuba chuckled. “Now, will the ring bearer present the rings?”

“I think you’ll like who I chose for the ring bearer,” spoke Rex.

Between the husbands-to-be and in front of Mokuba stood a tan-skinned boy with spiky brown hair, red-violet eyes, and traditional ancient Egyptian garb. He can’t be older than two, Weevil reckoned. It can’t be… It’s Heka!

“As we begin the declaration of intent, I would like for each groom to place a ring on his partner’s finger. Rex Leonidas Raptor, do you take Weevil Henry Underwood as your lawfully-wedded husband? “I do.” The wedding ring Weevil gave Rex was similar to his engagement ring, but had two thin bands of dinosaur bone inlay.

The dinosaur duelist wore this new ring on his left ring finger, complementing the one he wore on his right ring finger. “You spend too much money on jewelry, bug boy.”

“If there are any objections to this union, speak now or forever hold your piece.”

“Who would object to these two cutie pies?” Joey noted.

“Even if I did, I wouldn’t do anything about it,” mumbled the kid who got his Dark Ruler Ha Des stolen all those years ago.

“Then by the power vested in me - Mokuba Kaiba, president and CEO of Kaiba Corporation - I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may now kiss the husband.”

“Ladies, ladies…” Duke stepped forward. “You’re all wrong. I’ll-”

“Actually, you’re the wrong one, Duke.” Mako showed everyone the bouquet he just caught. “Looks like I’ll be getting married soon.”

“Aww…” Duke smiled. “Congrats, dude.”

“And I know just who it is I want to spend the rest of my life with.” Mako looked to Rex and Weevil, as if asking for permission, and the newlywed couple consented.

“M-Mako?” Espa’s eyes widened when Mako knelt in front of him, revealing a ring with a giant blue diamond encircled by several small green ones. “Oh… my gosh…”

“That is, if this cute psychic will say yes to my proposal.”

“Yes! Of course I do, Mako!” Espa continued to cry as his new fiancé put the ring on his finger.

“I thought I was the one you were after?”

“Yes, you too, Atem. See you there.” And with that, Rex and Weevil got in the back seat of the wedding motorcade.

“Ah, there’s the happy couple,” spoke the driver as he started the ignition. “Ready?”

“Yes!” Both young men exclaimed at once.

“Wait…” Weevil squinted to get a better look at the driver. “Bakura?”

“My friends call me Ryou, but whatever floats your boat.”

The bandit king wasn’t kidding when he said he’d attend! Weevil thought, and the trio arrived at the hotel to find that the partying had already begun. But...

Rex noticed the pensive look in his husband’s face, even while they walked to the dining room, to which Tricera and Ptera hauled the wedding cake they made. “Baby, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Weevil shook off whatever confusing thoughts he was having, and instead diverted his attention to lighthearted conversations with people he once called enemies. After lunch, he took the cake cutting knife from Tricera and grabbed Rex’s hands. “Give me a hand, will ya? And don’t you dare make a ‘short-handed’ joke about my prosthetic arm.”

“You’ve already taken mine, pinworm!” Rex had a small bite of the cake before offering some to Kaiba and Atem, whom he barely even noticed. “Here you go.”

“Don’t mind if I do.” Atem offered Heka some cake before eating it himself.

“Um… I’m good for now,” Kaiba insisted as he rubbed his belly. “I haven’t felt hungry all day, but I’m sure I will later.”

“Hopefully there will be a later.” Rex watched Amber, Arte, and Heka chase each other in the dining hall. Atem tried to prevent Heka from using his newfound magic on anyone. Mako and Espa weren’t as successful at containing their own children; Arte could already bend spoons with her mind, and Caesar could be seen swimming butterfly in the nearby gym pool.

“Ugh.” Espa whined. Caesar beat a high schooler in a short race, baring purple shark fangs in victory. “I knew I shouldn’t have let you talk me into a water birth, Mako. Both of our kids have shown their shapeshifter abilities already.”

“Caesar looks so much like my dad…” Mako beamed while he watched his son. “I’ll be darned if he grows up to be a better swimmer and fisherman than me.”

It took the intervention of all of Espa’s brothers to get the prodigious twins to stop. “I’ll give you one thing, our kids are already proving to be smarter than I was at that age.”

“Psst, hun.” Weevil whispered to Rex while Kaiba was distracted playing with Heka.

“What?” Rex spoke with a mouthful of cake.

“Why are Kaiba and Atem here at 22 years old, when just a couple of years ago, they were here at 37 years old? Do they even remember who we are?”

“Is that what you were confused about this afternoon? Please.” Rex took his and Weevil’s dishes to the dishwasher. “Haven’t I told you it’s better to not think so much?”

“You’re right.” Holding Rex by the hand, Weevil approached Kaiba and Atem. “Dueling speaks louder than words.”

“Kaiba?” Rex looked past his Ultimate Conductor Tyranno and at his cousin. It was Kaiba’s turn, and Rex and Weevil were clearly winning the tag duel. “You don’t look so good. If you had told me, I-”

“How dare you underestimate Seto Kaiba? I reveal my trap Raigeki Break to destroy your Ultimate Conductor Tyranno!”

“Naw, that trap won’t be doing nothing. Not if my Jurassic Heart can help it. ...Anything else?”

“I… end my turn…” Kaiba clearly wanted to leave, but had too much pride to simply throw the match. “By the way, it’s ‘won’t be doing anything. ’ Learn proper grammar, rabbit stew.”

“Then I’ll end it quickly,” Weevil proclaimed. “I activate my Armored Bee’s special ability to cut your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon’s attack points in half, then I’ll go in for the kill with my Battlewasp - Halberd the Charge!”

“So you’ve finally gotten your revenge on me, Weevil.” Atem clapped after he and Kaiba had lost. “Well done. What did you think of them- Huh? Kaiba, where are you going?”

Kaiba said nothing as he ran for the nearest loo. Right as he did, Joey walked up to Weevil, clearly wanting a duel from him. “Say, what happened to rich boy?”

Before Atem could follow after the Egyptian queen, Rex offered, “I’ll go check on him for you, Atem. You can cheer on your buddy Joey. He’ll need it.”

“Oh, I don’t think I will.” Joey climbed onto one of the dueling platforms. “But I would certainly love for Atem to see me squash this mosquito personally.”

“Bring it on!” were Weevil’s last words that Rex heard before making way for the loo Kaiba entered.

“Hey, Kaiba?” It didn’t take Rex long to find Kaiba and the loo he very loudly threw up into. “I was going to ask if you’re okay, but you’re clearly not.”

“Thanks, Captain Obvious.” With nothing left to throw up, Kaiba sat on the loo and pouted. “Anything else?”

Rex fished around in his pants pockets. “I was going to save this for myself, but I think you need it more.”

“What’s this?” Kaiba looked at the small box with the KaibaCorp logo Rex gave him; it had two pregnancy tests in it. “So KaibaCorp makes these now? And how bold of you to assume that just because I’m sick, that it means I’m pregnant. And you just so happened to be carrying these around? I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry.”

“Just take them, man. Please.”

“Hmph.” Kaiba slammed the stall door shut. “Fine. But just so you know, this is a waste of time, because I know I’m not pregnant.” About three minutes later, Kaiba opened the stall without looking up at Rex.

“...I guess I better go tell a few certain individuals the good news, huh?” Kaiba let Rex help him walk a short distance before he could walk on his own. “And Rex?”

“Yeah?”

Kaiba wrapped an arm around his cousin. “Thank you. You’re probably the only one other than Mokuba, the pharaoh, and Heka that I can tolerate.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Rex gave Kaiba a few noogies before parting ways with him. “If you see my husband, tell him he can find me in our hotel suite.”

ASH: Seems like it has potential.

MELINDA: Agreed.

Also in print: Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro 6, Heaven’s Design Team 4, The Quintessential Quintuplets 13, and Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie 3.

Digitally we get two debuts. The first is She’s My Knight (Ikemen Kanojo to Heroine na Ore!?), which runs in Kodansha’s Palcy, and features a popular young man having to deal with falling in love with a girl more popular AND more manly than he is!

ANNA: This sounds amusing.

SEAN: We also get Those Snow-White Notes (Mashiro no Oto). This is a biggie, as it’s already 27 volumes in Japan. It’s multi-award winning, runs in Weekly Shonen Magazine, is by the author of Baby & Me and A Vampire and His Pleasant Companions, and is for the Shamisen what Chihayafuru is for Hyakunin Isshu. It also has an anime this spring!

MICHELLE: I’m super excited about this one!

ASH: I love shamisen so much.

MELINDA: Okay, I’m ready!

SEAN: And we get A Condition Called Love 7, Elegant Yokai Apartment Life 21, How Do You Do, Koharu? 2, I Want To Hold Aono-kun So Badly I Could Die 7, My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1 3, and Saint Young Men 11.

MICHELLE: I need to get caught up on several of these.

MELINDA: Same here.

SEAN: Seven Seas debuts two manga based on light novels they also have. Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist (Cheat Kusushi no Slow Life: Isekai ni Tsukurou Drugstore) runs in Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma Plus, and is about… well, the title.

ASH: So many titles these days are helpful like that, perhaps overly so.

SEAN: And there is also ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword! (“Omae Gotoki ga Maou ni Kateru to Omou na” to Yuusha Party o Tsuihou Sareta node, Outo de Kimama ni Kurashitai), which runs in Micro Magazine’s Comic Ride, and combines yuri and gore-filled grimdark quite nicely.

Seven Seas also has the digital debut of four more Alice books, which focus on Elliot March and Tweedle Dee/Dum. If I recall correctly, the Twins books were the smuttiest in the series.

ANNA: No thank you!

SEAN: They’ve also got BL Metamorphosis 4, the third and final volume of Ghostly Things, High-Rise Invasion 17-18, Himouto! Umaru-chan Vol. G1 (also a final volume, sort of – it’s a one-shot continuation), the fifth and final volume of How to Treat Magical Beasts: Mine and Master’s Medical Journal, Made in Abyss 9, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid 10, and Precarious Woman Executive Miss Black General 6.

MICHELLE: Someday I really will read BL Metamorphosis.

ASH: You really should! It is wonderful.

MELINDA: I also need to read it!

SEAN: Two debuts for Yen On. The first is a spinoff. I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years, and the Demon King Made Me a Minister (Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maou no Chikara de Daijin ni Sare Chaimashita) features Beelzebub and her demonic crew from I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years having adventures of their own.

The other is Yokohama Station SF, the story of a boy who is allowed to search the giant subway terminal that the world of Japan has become. This looks pretty cool, actually.

MICHELLE: It looks super cool! I always love stories about exploring sprawling structures (like BLAME, for example).

ASH: I’m definitely picking this one up! It looks like it should help fill the SF hole left by Viz’s Haikasoru imprint being on hiatus.

MELINDA: This one sounds so interesting!

Also out next week: 86 ~Eighty-Six~ 7, new reprints of the 5th and 6th Haruhi Suzumiya novels, The Hero Is Overpowered But Overly Cautious 6, and Rascal Does Not Dream of Siscon Idol (the 4th in the series).

Yen Press has many manga debuts next week. We start with Can’t Stop Cursing You (Dareka o Norawazu ni Irarenai Kono Sekai de), a dark little horror title from Gangan Online. A curse detective uses their powers to track down killers.

ASH: I’m curious about this one.

MELINDA: This actually does sound like my kind of thing.

Goblin Slayer Side Story II: Dai Katana gets a manga version of its light novel. It runs in Square Enix’s Manga Up!.

Love and Heart (Koi to Shinzou) is a shoujo horror title from Hakusensha’s Manga Park. A college woman recovering from a breakup now finds she has a new roommate, who says he’s her old childhood friend. But… is he?

ANNA: I’m intrigued by the idea of shoujo horror.

MICHELLE: Yeah, this could be interesting.

ASH: Shoujo horror is one of my faves.

MELINDA: Ooooooooo.

SEAN: Love of Kill (Koroshi Ai) runs in Media Factory’s Comic Gene, and is about a pair of assassins engaging in… sigh… a deadly game of cat and mouse. (No, they’re not cats and mice, I just sighed at the cliche.) I’ve actually heard this is pretty cool.

ANNA: Sometimes I enjoy assassins!

ASH: Likewise!

MELINDA: Me too!

SEAN: Lastly, we see When a Magician’s Pupil Smiles (Mahou Tsukai no Deshi ga Warau Toki), a 3-in-1 omnibus collecting the entire manga. It ran in Shonen Gangan, and also seems to fall into the horror suspense theme Yen’s March debuts are falling into.

ASH: I tend to enjoy a fair amount of the subgenre, so I’m okay with the trend.

SEAN: In non-debuts, we get 86 ~Eighty-Six~’s second manga volume, Bungo Stray Dogs 18, Carole & Tuesday 2, Do You Love Your Mom? 4 (manga version), Fiancee of the Wizard 3, Im – Great Priest Imhotep 8, Kaiju Girl Caramelize 4, Karneval 11, Last Round Arthurs 2 (manga version), Lust Geass 3, Reborn As a Polar Bear 5, Strawberry Fields Once Again 2, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Ways of the Monster Nation 4, and The Vampire and His Pleasant Companions 2.

ASH: I am so far behind on my Yen reading!
