“hahahaha - oh that was a good one! Very lady like.” - John comments and shakes his head while grabbing another beer from the cooler between them.
Lucy chugs the remaining third of her beer back and says, “Lady like? Pfffff. Since when am I trying to be lady like? I’m trying to match the engine sounds of take off! I think I came pretty close on that one.”
John and Lucy were laying on the hood of John’s truck behind the Santa Monica airport watching the sun set and the private jets take off and land. John was riding with Lucy this week while waiting to hear if his transfer to Major Crimes was going to go through and Lucy was awaiting results from her Sergeant’s exam. They’d had a rough shift working a string of car jackings which resulted in multiple civilians being injured and killed, but no solid leads into who was ordering them or why.
John sighed. “Is that what we’re were doing? Imitating planes? I missed that. Let’s do something else instead. It’s just the two of us now. If you tell me a secret about you, I’ll tell you one about me. Like we used to with Jackson.” Lucy locks eyes with him, then they raise their bottles to toast their friend.
Lucy giggles and tries to whisper, a bit drunker than she planned to get. “Ok, ok. I’ll go first. I’ve been in a secret relationship with Tim for 7 months now. I think he’s going to propose when I get my scores back and know where I’ll be transferring.”
Johns mouth falls open in surprise. “You and Tim? What?! I had no idea. Although…. That makes some of the comments Gen has made in passing make a lot more sense now.”
Lucy asks, “Wait, Gen? Who is Gen? Do you mean Tim’s sister Genny? GASP! JOHN! Are you Genny’s mystery lover? She’s been walking on cloud nine and talking about the best sex she’s ever had and “high quality and quantity of orgasms”. Tim is losing his mind trying to figure out who it is.”
John blushes and said, “Well, yeah. Since Bailey suddenly left me with a Dear John letter four months ago, Gen and I have consoled each other and I’m in love with her and her boys. They are moving in with me next month. ”
Lucy’s eyes get really big as she says, suddenly completely sober, “Um yeah. Tim is gonna kill you. You better get ready to run.”
