Max has never initiated a date because she can't walk or see, and El is the one constantly at her side helping her do every little thing, so there's basically nothing Max is capable of doing to surprise her.

El has never initiated a date either. not only because she's just happy being with Max, but because she doesn't even know what dating is. she doesn't know it typically involves going places and doing stuff. her only reference is Mike, who also never took her anywhere. she thinks dating just means you've been together since a certain date.

so basically Max is gonna have to enlist the gang to help her set up a date in post-apocalyptic Hawkins.
