notes on "mr. snarl"
hello, hello, hello welcome to the mr. snarl is high camp discourse. i've been readin' and thinkin' and drivin' myself nuts over this, so i'll be blabberin' on for a good minute. bear with me.
before we dive into any discussion of camp, we ofcourse need to understand what camp is in the first place. camp as an idea is nearly impossible to neatly put down in a few words or a sentence. it has no definition as of such. camp is loud. camp is ostentatious. camp is exaggerated. camp is 'too much'. camp is gay. camp is ironic. camp is cheeky. drag is camp. marlene dietrich is camp. baroque art is camp. cher is camp. mommie dearest (1981) is camp. the rocky horror picture show (1975) is camp. dostoevsky is camp.
the girlies who get camp get it, those who don't, don't.
however we do have susan sontag's 1964 seminal essay 'notes on "camp"' from where most of our contemporary ideas and understanding of 'camp' comes from. in her essay, sontag noted 58 points on what camp is or might be. for our purposes in this post, we'll go by those. because it is the camp bible of course. and i am a pretentious bitch.
now before we get to the meat of the matter, a quick detour to discuss the many faces of alex turner.
alex's personas have now come to as closely associated to his image as an artist and public figure as blonde wigs are with dolly parton, i suppose. it even has its own section in alex's wiki page. he is one those performers to whom the "eras" concept can truly and perfectly apply. he is a different man on stage with every new album, each 'era' is unique from the other and distinctly defined. a new 'era' for alex is not only a change of a haircut or a new pallette, it is a total revamping of his mannerisms and performance style and public image. be it mr. schwarz (the car era), mark (tbhc era) or oliver tate sr. (early sias era), each one of his personas is another way in which he represents the themes of that album. understanding a persona is integral to understanding the album.
and alex admits to as such. each Performer is a fractured reflection of his own self, and of the album.
but. but. i do not think that he has always made use of the Performer, or atleast, tried to make perceivable distinctions between them. in the first three-four years of his career- during WPSIATWIN and FWN, he presented as just Some Guy. just another normal bloke from sheffield. which, you could argue, was the persona that fit the context of those albums, but i would say that he was probably not putting that much thought into it at the time. it isn't until TAOTU that we see alex using his on-stage fashion to project a certain kind of image that ties in with the music he's playing. (do i think it's miles' handiwork? yes.). the lil suits and ties and beatles-mop cuts, y'know.
the first distinct Performer appears during the Humbug era. the soft-spoken, brooding, fawn-mannered poet who is probably hiding a bagful of secrets and hang-ups behind those layers of brown curls- let's call her him aly. then we have the bright-eyed, puppy-smiled, deep-voiced loverboy of the early SIAS era. i propose to call him oliver tate sr. (after the guy from submarine (2010) obviously). then mr. snarl- we'll get to him later. the loud and theatrical and slutty and deliciously gay EYCTE era persona. then the melancholic space poet mark of TBH&C and finally the suave auteur of The Car- mr. schwarz.
mr. snarl is the one who has garnered the most fascination and endured the most in popular imagination. dare i say, AM-era alex turner is a lowkey late 2010s pop culture icon. it is very easy to understand why- the quiff, the leather jackets, the perpetual sunglasses, the biker boots, the LA drawl tinging his sheffield accent, the devil-may-care wantoness. the girlies on tiktok and pinterest aren't obsessed with him for nothing.
so, what makes mr. snarl camp? what am i yapping on about?
let's get back to sontag.
camp is artificial. camp is ironic. mr. snarl is too. he is a character. he is a mask. *cue the bourne identity and body paint*. 'artificial' does not imply fake or dishonest. we should be careful not to be quick in putting any value judgement onto this artificiality- the aritifice is a quality of camp. you can't appreciate camp, if you snigger at the artificial.
2. camp is character. mr. snarl is a character if there ever was one. extremely defined, visually and behaviourally- you see a performance and can immediately recognise the moment mr. snarl is peeking through. he is also very intensely one thing- very intensely masculine, very intensely rockabilly, very intensely rock god. he is 'instant character' as sontag puts it, which is why perhaps he so immediately and so firmly gripped our collective imagination.
3. camp is exaggerated. camp is style. do i even need to elaborate on this? Ben Beaumont-Thomas of The Guardian said it much better than i could- alex ironically "played with the role" of being a rockstar but simultaneously "can't help but be a real rock star." so, to put it in sontagian terms, he is not a rockstar but a "rock star"
the 2014 brit awards speech is the peak of this ironic, exaggerated performance i think. (i'm still waiting for someone to do a drag performance based on it).
4. but to me, what makes mr. snarl camp is his performance of gender. now let's get one thing clear- camp is not effeminate or queer behaviour. it is the "spirit of extravagance", so any kind of extravagant and ironic presentation of gender can be under the purview of camp.
this performance of gender is not the david bowie or marc bolan or brian molko kind, no. this performance of gender is much subtle, much more nuanced- he wasn't playing around with rigid definitions of gender or crossing gender lines. he wasn't trying to say something with it necessarily. i doubt even, if it was a purposeful thing that he was thinking of back then.
but mr. snarl is a performance of gender. it is a performance of masculinity. and the thing that makes it so very interesting is that it was a cis, straight man doing it.
[if y'all are interested, another interesting example is dolly parton + her persona + her performance of exaggerated femininity. for more on that i'll point you towards be kind rewind's video essay on her.]
mr. snarl was an image of a very certain kind of masculinity. 1950s, elvis presley, rockabilly, greasers, james dean- these are some of the pop culture touchstones that come to mind when we think of mr. snarl. he is also decidedly american. a "fictional character from america" as alex later put it. was this whole persona thing an effort to conquer america then? perhaps...but eh. there is no way i can conclusively say that. it certainly helped that cause. AM the album was very us-american in essence-- it drew from hiphop and r&b after all. the soundscape of the arctic monkeys was very much rooted in its northern british indie roots, and AM was the first one that was clearly not. and mr. snarl was just a visual reflection of that. mr. snarl was a certain kind of masculine in a way alex turner personas haven't been previously or since. he has always presented as conventionally masculine. even the humbug persona- him being my girlfriend notwithstanding- is not much different from the aesthetics of say, ray davies or mick jagger or george harrison back in the 60s and 70s. the slightly effeminate dramaticism of eycte is not exactly gender-bending as such.
but mr. snarl was hypermasculine. masculinity has had an interesting place in his lyrics up until they- they are both critical ('brianstorm' 'a certain romance') and fascinated ('jeweller's hand' 'catapult') of more aggressive masculine characteristics. (he does use a lot of very sexual but not necessarily erotic language to describe said masculinity- but that's another can of worms.) mr. snarl was in a way, alex being those characters from those songs he was writing about. mr. snarl also very aggressively straight. straight with a capital s. his songs in AM still had the self-abasing and submissive undertones to the narrator that love songs from humbug and sias, but much toned down. he was out there shouting out his girlfriend on stage. and who can forget the "ladiessssssss!" moment. he had models hanging off him in photoshoots.
you probably saw these photos and thought- "what the fuck?!" with a cackle. that is exactly what makes mr. snarl camp. the irony, the ridiculousness of it all.
5. i don't think alex was trying to be or do camp. camp is best when it is not intentional. i can even confidently wager alex would not take it as a compliment if i showed him this essay. a lot of very "serious" people look down upon camp as something lowbrow and tacky and unserious. but it isn't. i would go ahead and classify mr. snarl under naive camp- he is trying to be straightlaced and serious, but failing grandly, which makes it deliciously camp.
so. mr. snarl was an exaggerated representation of masculinity. in a sense, mr. snarl was basically drag. alex turner being "Alex Turner".

EMIL SINCLAIR from LIMBUS COMPANY
JUSTIFICATION:
"The unhatched egg metaphors. The constant anxiety and insecurity. The Zwei ID art where she looks like a gay librarian. The scene in Hell's Chicken where Ryoshu's team is all women oh and Sinclair too. The cute little Faelantern dress... it is my belief that Sinclair will only reach full self-actualization once she realizes she's a girl. This goes for the Sinclair from Demian (1919) too but I don't know as much about that one." - Anonymous
"okay. where the hell do I start.
Sinclair (Limbus Company) is based directly off of Sinclair (Demian - this will come up in a minute), and is a largely withdrawn, melancholic "boy" whose associated imagery is an egg and breaking out of a shell (again - more in a minute), and characters comment sometimes that she seems like she has an inner turmoil/darkness to her. a couple of her outfits just straight up look like mid-transition fits. her appearance in the album art for the song used in her chapter (itself based on the painting described below) is one of the most #girl things imaginable Sinclair from the source text (Demian)
1. struggles with her parents' expectations for her, and her increasing betrayal of those expectations (leading to such lines as "-at times I didn't want the Prodigal Son to repent and be found again. But one didn't dare think this, much less say it out loud.")
2. becomes friends with Demian who, aside from representing a more nuanced take on the black/white logic of point 1, Sinclair regularly remarks how cool it is that Demian's face is kinda feminine
3. begins to view herself as destined to live between two worlds, the light and the dark, human and inhuman, and, interestingly, "man and woman in one flesh". for all this is treated as a fear it's also explicitly stated to be something she desires
4. stops and thinks one day in college "perhaps I am not like other men?"
5. sees some random pretty girl one day and decides the concept of that pretty girl must be the path to return to the world of light/salvation. she learns to paint just to paint this girl and doesn't get it perfectly accurate but is pleased nonetheless. she becomes obsessed with this painting and stares at it while falling asleep before eventually realizes that the painting actually resembles herself, not as she feels she is but "-what determined [her] life, it was [her] inner self, [her] fate ... what the woman [she] would love would look like if ever [she] were to love one. That's what [her] life and death would be like..." - she eventually burns the painting and eats the ashes, y'know normal "girl who hasn't realized it yet" behavior
6. throughout the entire book she has visions relating to and is tied to imagery of eggs and birds escaping their shells to take flight" - Anonymous

because i'm grumpy today i'm gonna cause problems on the dash
what annoys the shit out of me with the constant "drop reputation!" "rep is coming!!" "clown clown clown for reputation surprise drop" is that it's taking attention away from literally everything else.
we're about to get extra professionally filmed surprise songs and no one cares. "i hope she announces rep IN THE MOVIE with a graphic or something" shut up
we're about to get a whole brand new album and still the focus is on yelling for reputation
the "debutation" theories and shit as though debut doesn't deserve her own spotlight for one fucking moment
the sheer fact that SO MANY of the people obsessively calling for reputation only view it through the girl-bossified lwymmd lense and don't see the vulnerability underneath and understand that taylor really thought this was it for her
does reputation deserve love? obviously. that's not ever what i'm arguing against. i'm just still still still not over the crowd chanting for a reputation surprise drop during surprise songs after we'd only just been given 1989
am i taking it way too seriously. yes, mist likely. am i going to yell about it anyway? yea.
they act like they're entitled to it right now when they want it immediately instead of seeing the release schedule laid out and being a little patient and appreciative of the insane amount of new art we already have over the last 4 years.
folklore, evermore, fearless tv, red tv, tour, speak now tv, 1989 tv, a tour movie, and ttpd but still there's a constant (and i do meant constant) demand for reputation.
it's about the content flow and not about the art or music or even taylor. it's the content and it makes me want to throw my phone in the ocean

Eddie didn't usually frequent many places in town. He stuck to what he knew, the woods surrounding Hawkins, high school and his trailer. Now he'd never admit that to anyone but the looks and the whispers sometimes got kinda bothersome. Sure, he owned his status as Hawkins's resident freak, but he also sometimes enjoyed feeling normal.
However, ever since the brand new music store had opened, Eddie had no choice but to go. I mean a place that sold records and the newest tapes? He had to go. Sure, he couldn’t afford a Walkman, but his dear uncle owned the loudest sound system the entire trailer park had ever heard.
With measured steps and a cigarette between his lips, Eddie could hear the buzz from outside the new store even from a block away. There were all types of people coming in and out of Rosie’s records, all too engrossed in their own amazement to even pay him a second glance. He could get used to that.
Flicking out his cigarette, Eddie went inside. It was much larger than he had anticipated, and the music was mellow. Everything would have been perfect if they didn’t have Madonna blasting. Eddie didn’t want to get into the groove thank you very much.
The front of the store was majorly filled with the chart's biggest hits, all of the shit you’d hear blasting over Hawkins's local radio, nothing of substance in his opinion. However, the back corner caught his eye, he could just about make out the album art for the new Motörhead album.
“I’m coming baby…”
He muttered under his breath, dodging people left right and centre until he finally reached his destination. The alternative section is what they had labelled it in big black letters, in other words, it was where all the decent music was stored. Not only did they have Motörhead, but they also had new dio, iron maiden and black sabbath. His holy trinity.
So used to the stares of others Eddie had become prone to looking around, very perceptive of the people around him. With a side glance eddies, eyes caught sight of someone he’d never seen before, and his heart stopped.
There you stood. Outlandish black eyeliner rivalling that of an eagle's wings painted skilfully around your eyes, dark lacquer lined your lips into the perfect pout and your brows were like two thin black lines carving your face into a precise scowl. Your hair was dark and backcombed to the high heavens, he guessed it must have taken at least half a bottle of hairspray to get it to stay in place.
As his eyes travelled down your attire, he was drawn to the mix of dark leathers and lace that was draped all over, hugging certain parts and then falling in others. Your skirt grazed your ankles, and on your feet, he spotted the biggest black boots that had ever graced Hawkins. Eddie couldn’t ignore your accessories either. Two silver daggers hung from your ears, and down your neck, a similar pendant rested just between your breasts, your hands were covered in rings with black gems and silver skulls similar to his own. He was obsessed.
Just as he was about to look away your soft melodic voice graced his ears, and a red tint dispersed over the expanse of his usually pale cheeks.
“Take a picture it will last longer…”
God, he hadn’t meant to stare for that long. But could you blame him? I mean he’d only seen people that dressed like you in magazines, labelled with propaganda about the spreading of the devil's scripture. You were just so… transfixing. An enigma among the many windbreakers and scrunchie-tied ponytails. A breath of fresh air.
“Sorry… it’s just… your earrings are really fucking cool man…”
For the first time since spotting you, Eddie got to see you face on. Hopefully, you couldn’t hear his sharp intake of breath, he was quite literally gasping over how beautiful you were. In all honesty, you sorta terrified him at the same time. You looked angry, like truly pissed at his staring, usually he’d pull some goofy face, but who knew, maybe you’d rip that earring out and use it on him?
Now what Eddie didn’t expect was for your thin brows to raise, and those black slips to bend into a smile “Thanks… I found them at a thrift store…”
Eddie swallowed the dryness in his throat, taking a cautious step closer to you and putting out his hand as a form of greeting “I’m Eddie… Eddie Munson…”
Your soft hand fell into his as you shook it lightly, you murmured your name so quietly he was surprised he caught it. When you pulled your hand away he found he missed its warmth in his own, although his hand was rather clammy from the initial staring debacle.
Not wanting the conversation to die out and even worse never seeing you again, Eddie decided to strike up another topic to grab your attention. He noticed you turn back to the tapes in front of you, fingers gliding over Siouxsie and the Banshees, the cure and sisters of mercy. Damn you had taste. Now the whole trad goth thing wasn’t his niche when it came to music, but for you, he’d listen to the mopey tunes till the end of time. Missing the tape you selected, Eddie found his way in.
“Oh, what did ya go for?”
You seemed startled by his loud voice, he would have felt guilty if your spooked wide eyes weren’t so damn adorable.
“Echo and the Bunnymen… they just released the deluxe edition of ocean rain…”
Truthfully he had no idea who or what you were talking about, but in an attempt to impress you Eddie faked a gasp, clapping his hands together as he rocked on the balls of his feet.
“Oh, awesome I love that album…” The grin on your face made his own widen.
“Oh, really what’s your favourite song?”
Eddies smile dropped as his eyes widened like a deer in the headlights. IDIOT. He was such an idiot.
“Uhh…. The uh… the first ones pretty great…”
Now, he fully expected you to raise one of those threatening brows and storm past him. But you didn’t do that, instead, laughter bubbled from the back of your throat. It was dorky and resembled a witch’s cackle in the most wholesome way. He needed to make you laugh again, hopefully on purpose next time.
“To be fair you didn’t strike me as an alternative guy… more metal right?”
Eddies eyes shone with adoration. You really saw him. Not just a passing judge as his knotted locks or stained t-shirt he’d spilt mustard on that morning, no, you actually saw him. When your name got called by who he was assuming was your mother, you sighed and turned back to him.
“I’d better get going… uh… here…”
You rifled In the black ripped tote back on your shoulder, pulling out what looked like a pot but after closer inspection turned out to be gel liner. You took a brush and grabbed his guitar-scarred fingers, straightening out his hand so you could get a better grip.
With delicate brushstrokes, Eddie watched digit after digit of a phone number being written on the back of his hand.
“That’s my landline… stay cool Munson…”
And like a cloud of black smoke, you were gone. For the first time in Eddie Munson's life, he was well and truly stumped. One thing he knew for sure, he’d wash his hand as little as possible.

I love having to explain to people exactly how obsessed with SIX I was
like my friends will point out when it’s coming to my city and I’m like “yes honey I’ve known, I’ve known since 8 months ago and I have tickets don’t worry” and then when I mentioned six fanfiction and my friend was like “wait people write fanfiction about it?” “Yes and I’ve read so so many that I had to read wattpads fics FUCKING WATTPAD, if you read the six the musical fics on there you would know….I also know like every ship of the six and probably have read a diff of it” “PEOPLE SHIP THEM?!?!? Aren’t they like cousins?” “Yes but luckily the fandom is small enough no one ships the incest ✌️😜”
then he went on to tell me I was the person that drew Miku binder Tomas Jefferson 😭😭😭
and then when someone sends u a six meme and u have to pretend you’ve seen it for the first time (so that they keep talking abt ur intrest)
one time I was in a little six the musical thingy and the director was asking everyone abt a “little” background about the queens and one person from each group would answer, (I was in the Boylens, but like ofc bc I literally am Anne Boylen and the main character soooo) AND A KID FROM MY GROUP SHOT UP HER HAND AND THE TEACHER CALLED ON HER AND THE SHIT SHE SAID WAS “she uh grew up in France and then married the king and then flirted with 3 guys and then got beheaded” LIKE NO BITCH SHE DID NOT DONT RAISE UR HAND IF UR GUNNA LIE TO US DHFHJFJDIDISKSJSJWHUEUEUE SO THEN I RAISED MY HAND TO HELP HER PUT THERE 😭😭😭✌️😭
ALSO I TAUGHT MY GROUP SO MUCH SHIT ABT HER IN FACT EVERYONE AT THAT PLACE KNEW I WAS THE HISTORY ONE SO THEY WOULD COME UP TO ME AND BE LIKE “hey _____ do u know anything about Anna of Cleves” UMMM HELL YEAH !!!!!!! IT WAS SO FUN 🤭🤭🤭🤭
another time I was doing Karoke and me & my friend wanted to sing SIX and she’s like “so which song” and I’m like “I know the lines to like all of them so we can do any one”
one time my friends said “her forehead is so big it could be Library full of SIX facts” 💪
also I had(ve) no friends that were this intensely or at all obsessed with it so I would literally be fucking texting myself links to videos and stuff
Also like one time I got jumpscared bc out of the corner of my eye I saw Santa Claus and thought it was H*nry VIII
Also I have seen almost every single one of Art E’s (person who made six the kids) tumblr posts + may or may not have also gotten a virus (no fr I’m not sure) from tumblr when scrolling through six posts
whenever I couldn’t sleep or was home alone yes I would perform six and yes I would know most of the lines
the biggest album on my phone is six photos + I have separate albums for every queen and their kids
also I have seen pretty much every incorrect SIX quote and they are pretty much inside jokes with myself
when I would get really anxious I would imagine my life if I was an actor on tour playing Boylen and my friendship which each of the other random actors and also I would imagine my favorite six six (the last song) animatic
there were times where I could hardly do anything without thinking “OMG THIS IS SO JANE SEYMOUR LIKE I,AGINE IF THE QUEENS WERE HERE AND JEHFJDJWKWKWMMA” (to myself in my head I’m not annoying like that….well to anyone but G)
I wanted to make a Anne Boylen cosplay SOOOO BAD despite having no cosplay skills one time I tried to make one for a belle doll I bought at goodwill speicifically for that purpose and also one out of cardboard
I have an album with all of the bootlegs I could find that aren’t just a black screen and can send it to u
and yet although I’ve been obsessed for 2-3 years I have hardly made any art for it and just have like 50 million unfinished sketches and may or may not have unfinished fanfics and so so many mental ideas of animatics (idk how to animate) that I abandoned after a day and I own 4 pieces of merch that I didn’t make myself (7 if u include the stuff I made) ✌️😭 ✌️😖
when I was bored instead of watching a Netiflix show or listening to music like a normal person, oh no, I would rewatch H*nry VIII oversimplified I’ve seen it like 10 times honestly a banger

do you ever think about how Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over is such a weird little album full of little gems? I love Carefully so much.
YES. i always forget that album exists until a song pops up on shuffle and then i end up obsessively listening to that particular song over and over again (unless it’s the kind of lover i am or my girlfriends are my boyfriends) until the cycle repeats and i forget about its existence again shdk. i have no idea why i treat dwtdtaoso like a forgotten child because like you said, there are sooo many hidden gems on it like carefully (!!), the way you don’t look at me (makes me feel like i have a giant gaping hole in my chest every time), and easy (THEIR FALLING OUT STILL PMO because how dare they abandon their beautiful song over a tiktoker)

Have you listened to Ariana’s new album and Hozier’s new EP? I loved ‘We can’t be friends’, ‘don’t wanna break up again’, ‘boy is mine’, and ‘I wish I hated you’ from Ari’s album specifically, although every song in that album was so good. ‘Too Sweet’ and ‘Fare Well’ were my favorite from Hozier’s album, the guitar in both is just so good.
My recommendation for this time (if you haven’t heard it already) is Luna Day’s ‘Obsessed’ and ‘Say it Back’. Unrequited love songs will always have a special place in my heart.

I was very mad at mine at the time (she had the audacity of DYING - can you believe it ? 😅) and I very much liked the fact that one could actually be mad at their parents and be creative & cool. I think I also heard his music for the first time around that time (probably Lose Yourself ?) and I thought it was awesome ! Made me want to learn English !
• Would you consider yourself a "Stan" ? Why/ Why not ? Yes and no, I think. I am very much a fan, but I don't identify as a hardcore Stan, in the obsessive sense of it. That being said, I enjoy being involved and taking part in the fandom. It's definitely a fun community !

His music has been a great motivator to me and I feel like his dedication to his art is really inspiring. Language (and how the US is tightening its grip on mass media worldwide)
I am, again, reporting on an obsession, a passion, perhaps, a fresh spark, if you will. :3
This time, it's languages (and some other things later on)! Shocker, I know. Everyone and their mother is into that nowadays in queer online spaces. Not that I meet a lot of mothers in here, sadly. It's all just weird little guys (gender neutral). Now, I would hardly call myself a "linguist" or anything like that. But when has a lack of expertise ever deterred anyone on the internet from having crazy opinions?
With that said,
ELECTRA'S OPINION OF THE DAY:
(some of) Y'all are way too unwilling to like other cultures and languages. You keep pointing your fingers at French's orthography, or make fun of German for sounding "rough" (and ideally bring up the Nazis), or get all weird about Arabic's "unusual" (read: post-velar and scary to the English speaker) consonant inventory. (Those are just the ones I see the most often and not representative of every language in existence!)
The thing is, all of these are beautiful! Every single one of those languages, and all the other ones too, are really, truly wonderful! And the best thing is, you do not have to understand the words to engage with it to find the beauty in it that its speakers have watered and cared for for millennia. Sure, you can go and study it, you can devote your time and put effort in preserving the language, allowing others to care for what you have grown to love; this is noble and so, so important, yes, but it's not all that matters.
What matters is cherishing and loving languages, and cultures, other than the one you run into most!
Maybe you should check out that weird experimental album you were recommended by your overseas friend whose English, while impressive, is still lacking in some aspects. You can't really blame them for that; you barely even know what language they speak. (And I promise the album would have been extremely influential and well known if they wrote it in English!) Maybe you should stand up for that person in your neighborhood who moved in rather recently and doesn't know how to speak the language people around you expect them to!
Or maybe, you can support and love and cherish stories and poetry and all kinds of things from all around the world. It doesn't matter that you have to read the translation (where there is someone dedicated enough to make one) instead of just being able to use the language that it was made in mind with; you're still showing support and love to those creators, supporting all sorts of odd little works in all corners of the world that are dying to be experienced, but often cannot be, because they aren't cared for by enough people. It's easier for everyone to give in and just import whatever Disney came up with.
It isn't worth it, though.
Some time ago, I saw screenshots of an old cartoon from my area with what were mostly Americans falling in love with it at first sight. There was some fan art and a lot of discussion. I think about that a lot. It might not have been as big as whatever media dominate the market, but it felt very genuine and it moved me in ways I really wasn't expecting.
