Somebody on Twitter pointed out that almost all of the netflix Avatar show was filmed so that the focus of the action would be at the center, so it could be viewed vertically, like on tiktok

The Cast and Crew Don’t Deserve Your Hate
I know many of us feel hurt and betrayed by NATLA. I know this. I feel the same.
Please stop cursing Albert Kim and the production crew. The fact is, he inherited a huge mess that was already behind schedule. Studios nowadays want the fastest turn around possible and are willing to pour money into projects.
But not time.
I’ve said it before, but LOTR is the absolute gold standard for production. They took years of pre-production time to hand craft their costumes and props and wigs. They hired artisans to hand make tunics and chainmail by hand. They sourced and layered real human hair for their hair pieces. It was incredible.
GOT also attempted something similar though not nearly at the same scale.
That’s why both of these productions have such fantastic and realistic feeling costumes, wigs, and props.
Modern studios just want fast turn around. They’ll pour in money but they want it fast. That’s why the modern takes on LOTR and GOT (ROP and HOTD) look like mediocre cosplay by comparison. The stylists are doing their best, but there’s only so much you can do with so little time.
That’s exactly what’s happened here. You can tell in how awful all the wigs and beards look, even compared to the Shyamalan film of all things! It’s why you can see machine stitching and the fabrics aren’t thick enough to pass for animal pelts. It’s why Iroh’s beard looks like it’s going to fall off, and Yue’s hair looks like a Lego piece, and Azula’s bangs are visibly attached extensions of a completely different sort from the rest of the synthetic wig. It’s why Zuko’s scar looks like a birthmark and not a burn.
It’s why the bending, despite having impressive animation, doesn’t line up well with the actors’ movements and feels pasted on. Almost as if the artists and fight choreographers didn’t get to communicate and plan together.
It’s why the scripts are a poorly juggled mish mash of plots, with threads left to hang in the wind while others are so oversimplified that it feels like a playschool version of ATLA rather then the “adult” version it’s supposed to be.
And it’s why the the Chinese writing is grammatically a mess like they just ran it through Google translate.
I have nothing but respect for Albert Kim and the cast and crew that worked tirelessly to bring this disaster to life under these conditions.
I worry about the poor crew being put through some awful crunch time for this show…
Yes it’s bad. But it’s not only bad as a piece of media. It’s bad as an indicator of what studios prioritize now, and it’s neither audiences nor their own staff.

Hey I hope this is okay to ask, what are some lines you would have as wall posters?
I'm trying to design some for my room and I would like to have something on being human, being kind and the beauty of the world, if you already have done something similar could I have the link? Thank you🌻
oh this is genuinely one of my favourite things to do, a small selection of faves💗:

Netflix atla live action review ep 7-8
Home stretch baby. I figured since i love the source material i should just be able to enjoy it, or at least be entertained by it somewhat. But even that was just not possible. I pirated it after the first three episodes just bc i didn't want to give netflix the satisfaction of a view.
It's not so much the acting, the costumes or even the bad/mediocre cgi, it's the writing. It's an absolute shitshow, a mess of the highest caliber. For someone who claims to love the source material, it really seems like Albert Kim didn't understand why a lot of the things in the original worked the way they did. Things that are important for character growth got removed, and lore that we normally don't see til later on in the show (or even in a completely different story within this universe!!) got crammed in. For no good reason too bc it doesn't really add anything, just gives us another obstacle or useless exposition that's supposed to explain another useless thing they added.
Both of the last episodes take place in the north pole. This makes sense somewhat because in the original all three of the last episodes took place there. The reason they did this in the original is to have room for all of the stories that still need to take place (pakku, zuko, spirit world, koh, waterbending training, sokka and yue etc.) However in this version, even though minutes wise we have more time, we have less story. Like way less. Also episode 7 proportionally is much shorter than 8 and it really gives issues with pacing.
Let's start with what annoyed me most. Where is the waterbending training? Where is it? The season's title is Water and Aang bent ZERO water this entire season unless he was in the avatar state. Katara "trains" yes, but it's mostly practicing moves she found on the scroll (which gran gran just gave to her? Why didn't this woman give it to her sooner???). She gets NO guidance from anyone, and the way she gets better at bending each time is because a BOY told her encouraging things. A BOY. In the OG we get Pakku saying "raw talent alone is not enough", which makes sense because bending in this universe is an extension of martial arts, and you have to train to become good at martial arts. This LA show however treated bending like a magic power, basically giving some mumbo jumbo about balance and a clear head and think of the people you love to become a better bender. And while yes, your mental headspace also is important (as highlighted in the original where zuko couldn't bend anymore bc he had no aggression left) it wasn't the only factor, it wasn't even the main factor.
When we arrive at the North Pole, Pakku and the chief of the North both expect Aang to help with battle strategy in order to stop the attack bc they're already aware it's coming. Aang tells them he doesn't really know how (wtf were they even expecting it mean that is a whole 12yr old) and they turn away going "guess we can't count on the avatar" like? Dude?? If they have such good intel that they already know the fire nation is preparing an attack, and that the Avatar is alive, how tf did you not hear that the Avatar is also 12 years old and far from a master of the four elements? Idk this weirded me out.
They removed the deserter episode, which means Aang doesn't renounce firebending, which means we get no storyline of Aang dealing with his conflicted feelings surrounding firebending because fire gives life, not just destruction. Katara also doesn't find out she can heal naturally. We just get told that healing is just a thing all waterbenders can do if they train for it. Katara's necklace has no significance at all in the story currently. Yugoda doesn't recognize that Katara is Kanna's granddaughter. Katara's gran gran being from the north originally doesn't play part in the story at all. Katara doesn't even once utter the words "this necklace used to be my mother's". Idk why that bothers me so much but it does. They also removed her rage at not being allowed to fight. Sure this show's Katara also goes to fight Pakku, but literally everytime she speaks she just sounds reasonable. She fights him not because she's So Enraged at not being allowed to become the master she's meant to be, but because the script demands it. She says it so matter of factly too. She's like a mellowed out shell of who Katara is supposed to be. I feel like this overall for her character in this show btw. I don't blame Kiawentiio bc i saw clips of her performance in other works (anne with an e notably) and she's good. This genuinely just seems like poor writing and directing. They removed all of Katara's passion. She's not warm, she's not feisty, she's not angry, she's not nurturing, she's also not flawed at all. I hate to say it but in this version she's giving Mary Sue, especially bc she just learns waterbending on her own, and then gets called a master out of nowhere. That's not how that's supposed to work. You're supposed to earn the term master.
Let's talk about Yue. Amber Midthunder is a great actress, but damn, that wig. Their budget was over 100 million dollars and yet they couldn't give my girl a lace front? Her wig was so structured and stiff, and if it were any other context like cosplay or a drag show this would have been perfect. Now it just looked really unnatural and instead of the hair being platinum it was gray. Yue's character got given more to do here. They changed the story to have her break her own engagement, but it's implied that the reason she did this is bc she met Sokka in the spirit world and... fell in love? Idk it was a bit weird. Both Suki and Yue were inexplicably entranced with Sokka. In the OG it's implied that Yue likes Sokka bc he's so different from the boys in the north, kind of like a city girl falling in love with a country boy. But here it feels different, he doesn't stand out at all compared to the other boys, and Hahn isn't a dickhead like the OG. I will say i like that Yue is a stronger character here. She takes charge of her own destiny and she is the one to realize that she can save the moon spirit, and wasn't told by someone else that she could do it. I am confused by them making her a waterbender, but i'm not mad at that change per se. I liked her sacrifice scene, her own acting was great. Sokka however... i genuinely burst out laughing, like so loud. The zoom in on his face, the expression, it was too much and too little at once. Overall, Yue's story was okay. Was it better than the original? Debatable. But it wasn't bad and that's a win.
We get Avatar Kuruk way earlier than we originally got him. I'm still kind of confused about the whole "you can talk to past Avatars but only in their shrine with their statue" thing, because if that's the case how in the hell is Aang ever gonna ask advice from Roku (or Kyoshi, since the writers clearly have a bias towards her and want to make her the main Avatar guide ig) without having to travel all the way to the shrine? Can they only talk in the one specific shrine or can we take a miniature set of Avatar action figures with us just in case we ever need advice? Also this lore abt the shrines and statues is flawed at best bc later on Kuruk shows up for Aang during the fight, while they're not present at the shrine. Either way, Kuruk was far from the go with the flow Avatar he was characterized as in the original. I know that we got some insight into Kuruk's story in the Kyoshi novels, and turns out it's a lot darker than expected, but Kuruk never let that change his character. He always remained chill, or at least kept up the facade, and i don't think OG Kuruk would be the type of man that is angry about how his life turned out. In this version, Kuruk is this scared, mean, bitter man who is really unsatisfied with his destiny, which he lashed out at Aang for. He seemed really angry at Aang to for no good reason. We're also not supposed to know this part about Kuruk's life yet. It's too much information and de waste time learning about his life story, the only reason we learn it in the first place is to explain the Special Spirit Killing Knife. Also the actor for Kuruk.... yikes bro. Idk which hallmark movie they pulled him from but he and his stupid polar bear hat looked like ass the whole time.
So there's this weird part about Kuruk having a Special Knife that is able to kill spirits. Idk if this is a thing from the Kyoshi novels that also made it into this show bc truth be told i haven't made it far into those novels yet at all, but it was strange to me. Somehow Zhao has this knife. We don't know how he ended up getting it (did the fire sage give it to him? I didn't see it but i might have missed it) and we pretend that this is the Only Thing that can kill spirits even when the spirits are mortal. Doesn't that negate the fact that the spirits are mortal, if they can only be killed by a Special Knife? Also there's this weird convoluted part about how the spirits actually live in the spirit world and only cross to the physical world once every ice moon to know what it feels like to be "mortal" and choose a different "mortal" form each time and this time they happened to be fish. But still, they can Only Be Killed By The Special Knife. Huh? What's the purpose of this added extra lore? I saw someone say the underlying point is that it shouldn't be this easy to kill spirits but.... that's the whole idea behind the Ocean and Moon spirits having permanent mortal forms? Them being mortal and choosing a form as insignificant as a fish, constantly circling each other to represent the precarious balance between Ocean and Moon, a balance that can be thrown off very easily. The whole point was that they're fragile so why add all this extra exposition for no reason? Why make the spirits harder to kill if in the end you're still just gonna have a guy stabbing a wet bag and not some rough spirit killing battle?
Zhao also just gets told by the fire sage that killing the moon is a thing he can do. I don't like what this changes about Zhao's character. Zhao is supposed to be this cunning man. He's scary, determined, strategically inclined, but alas overconfident and willing to go too far which ends up being his downfall. His ambition is what led him to do his own research by visiting a spirit library to find any weakness he could potentially exploit, and that's precisely what he found. In the original, Zhao always fought for his own career. His own accomplishments got him the tools to try and beat Zuko in the Avatar race. But in this version, Zhao just keeps getting handed things. He's a slippery snake that plays friends with Zuko and then tries to steal the glory from under his nose. He gets handed the archers, he gets handed the information on the moon spirit, he gets handed a war balloon (which completely ruins the surprise of the fire nation suddenly having air power at the invasion), and he gets helped by Azula of all people. It makes him look a bit chumpy in this story, and it really worsens his villain qualities.
On a completely other note, this LA seems to have a thing for making adults yell at a 12yr old Avatar for leaving the world behind, and it doesn't make any sense, because in this story Aang left on Appa for a joyride to clear his head. Aang didn't purposely leave. He had every intention of returning after an hour. Yet every adult in this show, even the past Avatars that know damn well Aang didn't flee from his responsibilities, yells at him bc he accidentally got encased in ice. And somehow this Aang gets made to feel worse about it than OG Aang even though he deserves it way less bc this Aang didn't actually run away! I don't like what this changes about Aang's character. In the OG, Aang has one fatal character flaw and that's avoiding responsibility. He runs away, and has problems with taking accountability for what his actions cost the world. He goofs around, plays games and likes to have fun to avoid having to face his destiny, all while carrying the guilt and blame for the century war. It's a huge part of Aang's character journey. The guilt he feels isn't misplaced bc Aang knows he ran off, and he knows that the world is in its current state because of his decision. In the end he takes responsibility by showing up to the fight with Ozai alone. In this LA, even though by all means Aang shouldn't feel responsible, he ends up taking responsibility right away. He goes to Kyoshi Island, not to goof around and ride giant koi, but because he knows he can talk to Kyoshi there. Kyoshi yells at him for leaving (again, why? She knows he didn't run away) and gives him a vision about the watertribe getting destroyed. Instead of panicking about it (like OG Aang did after finding out abt the comet) he just accepts that he needs to go and help. And while this Aang does get to have fun moments (i especially loved how in the first episode he sees playing watertribe children and immediately joins them, that was quintessential Aang), he just seems very down and serious a lot of the time. He's scared of people getting hurt and is very worried abt the safety of his friends to the point where he agrees with Pakku and tells Katara she shouldn't fight. It's not Aang at all bc OG Aang was rooting for Katara when she fought Pakku. To sum it up: i think the casting for Aang was perfect. A cute southeast asian skater kid that loves to have fun and genuinely just looked the part? Brilliant! I am genuinely not upset at Gordon's performance at all (although sometimes i wish he'd enunciate a bit better). But the writing messed up the character so much that i couldn't even feel the joy for having the perfect looking Aang. I will say Koifish Godzilla (Koizilla if you will) looked dope. What did confuse me abt the Koizilla scenes is that sometimes there was no music (which is a choice i often like bc it gives the scene extra gravitas) and then sometimes there was a majestic score playing in the back, like they couldn't choose how they were gonna execute it and just picked both. I know that's nitpicky but it bothered me nonetheless.
Speaking of Koizilla. Wtf was that thing they added about Aang "succumbing" to the ocean spirit and being "lost"? They didn't even explain it at all, but both Yue and Iroh talked about how Aang would be lost forever now. We don't get a why, we don't get a how. And "lost" is such a vague word for it too. Like would his spirit be lost and only his body remain? Would he be completely swallowed up by the ocean? Would he remain Koizilla, forever rampaging at the ice wall? They added this for extra tension i guess, but it doesn't really work when only minutes later Aang is able to return no problem bc Katara talked him out of it, so we don't even get to find out what "he'll be lost forever" means. Also: the scene with Katara talking Aang out of it was cute, but the execution was weird. Originally Katara gives this speech when Aang goes Avatar state at the southern airtemple. I like that they still kept Katara's speech to Aang bc it highlights their bond which is especially important for later on in the show, but I don't like how now Katara had to give this really heartfelt emotional speech to Aang in front of everyone else at the northern watertribe. It's supposed to be quite an intimate moment between her, Sokka and Aang as a new family, they're supposed to promise they won't let anyone harm him, which eventually calms him down. Here though Katara's just yelling these words at him in front of everyone and all the intimacy is gone. It also doesn't work as well bc we barely got any time of the gaang bonding. They spend episode 3-6 apart most of the time, so really they shouldn't feel this bond towards each other just yet. Because this LA removed a lot of the side adventures, we don't get the feeling that these kids have known each other for months.
Another thing they removed is Appa and Momo as characters. In the original they each get their own moments, we even got one whole episode with Appa as the main character (which won an award btw). Here though, Appa is solely used as a transportation animal and Momo... honestly i don't even remember what he does but i think it's mostly a small comedic bit? Also he hands the acorn to one of the characters. This is a bad change bc in these episodes Momo gets hurt so bad he nearly dies, and it has no emotional impact at all bc he's just an accessory in this story. I felt no emotional attachment to Momo and he just has no personality. I wonder how this choice is gonna play out when we get the kidnapped Appa story bc so far it's not looking good.
Anyway, for positives. I warmed up on Dallas's performance a lot, i wasn't that mad at Ian Ousley's performance and there were moments where he genuinely made me laugh. The cgi for the creatures was decent, but for the backgrounds it looked horrible. I liked that they showed how devastating the Seige of the North ended up being, with the unnamed kid and Hahn both dying. I liked the effect showing those two had on our main characters. I liked when Aang, Sokka and Katara all worked together taking out that one firenation ship. I liked the way they showed Sokka and Yue bonding. I really warmed up to the costumes as well, i still wish they dirtied it up a little to make them look less new.
There's probably some more positives but they're really minor compared to the negatives and also my brain is just done atp. I'm never gonna rewatch it for more analysis either bc i don't think i'll survive it lol. I might make another post abt my opinion on the show as a whole? Like an overall summary? Bc this shit is VERY long and i do apologize. If you made it this far, uhm. Thanks for caring abt my opinion so much that you sat down for like 10 minutes to read my angry yapping? I appreciate it.

Anyway bye

atla fans can be pretty orientalist ngl like TEXTBOOK orientalist.
like okay I know I know the original show is so good but it isn't perfect and there is PLENTY of room for improvement. plenty. we all knew this at the time, back when it was airing and then there was that long break between books 2 and 3. like we all knew it was great but also had its problems. idk why fans from the original run act like this show is perfect.
one of the biggest problems has always been how white the writers room was. how the creators, especially bryke, were profiting by selling the aesthetics of various asian and indigenous peoples to a us american audience.
this is how you get the borderline weird anti-indigenous focus on sexism and misogyny in the water tribes without much exploration of how sexism and misogyny impacted other groups. like actually I'm GLAD that it's toned down but still present in the live action show because sokka was mostly around women and girls for a lot of his teen years. why would HE be so over the top sexist? like in comparison with anyone else, it makes no sense. unless of course you think about it through the lens of how white colonizers tend to think of indigenous peoples - backwards.
I think it's interesting that this show is mostly being worked on by Asian and indigenous people and so many fans never even wanted to give it a chance. I know, I know- I remember the film too. but from the jump, fans have been so quick to dismiss EVERY little detail* or leak without even seeing it first.
bryke are a big part of the story, I know. but they are not all of the people who were behind it. it seems to me that a lot of the fans of this show are weirdly protective of these two white guys who decided to part from the show. they weren't forced out, they left. and yes I'm biased because I saw just how shitty they treated fans of zutara (largely girls and VERY, VERY diverse) at literal conventions, how they egged on some toxic bullying from other parts of the fanbase to the point that frankly it's never really worth engaging in non-zutara fan spaces because people are so reactive and weird about even the mention of zutara. and then these same assholes will make comparisons to reylos as if zutara fans EVER harassed poc fans and especially actors. but whatever, that's my bias. but I can respect that they also created this amazing show that I've loved for half of my life.
I still see it as a good thing that the people working on this show come from the cultures bryke and nickelodeon profited off of without giving anything back.
so I guess my question to white fans is this: if you haven't watched yet because you are mad about bryke or some of the changes you've heard about or whatever, why do you not trust people from the cultures atla draws upon to adapt this story? are you just here to consume exotic aesthetics? why are bryke the only people who can sell those aesthetics to you?
*btw I'm not talking about the sokka casting shit, that's different and should be criticized. Also Albert Kim was the showrunner of Sleepy Hollow and was complicit in racist treatment of Nicole Beharie so he is not someone I trust very much. also there are definitely critiques I have of the show but it's not bad, not even remotely. it's worth watching.

How Kiawentiio went from a ‘little arty kid’ to the star of Avatar: The Last Airbender
You know that classic actor’s arc, painstakingly building from bit parts to bigger roles, withstanding rejection and despair? Yeah, that’s not Kiawentiio’s story. The Mohawk Canadian actor was cast in the first thing she auditioned for, the hit CBC/Netflix series Anne with an E. Her next role was the title character in Tracey Deer’s wrenching, semi-autobiographical film Beans, followed by a gig on Rutherford Falls. And now she’s the second lead in a gigantic Netflix series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, a live-action reimagining of the beloved animated series (2005-08), shot mostly in British Columbia, arriving Feb. 22. And she’s only 17.
We meet via video call, and even on that flattening medium, Kiawentiio sparkles. (Professionally, she goes by that mononym, pronounced Guy-a-wen-di-jou.) She’s poised and friendly, without any child-actor posing. Now and again she glances over her shoulder into a corner I can’t see; turns out her mother is there for backup.
Her Anne with an E audition was a lark – or as Kiawentiio puts it, “It came out of nowhere and happened randomly.” Growing up on the Akwesasne reserve on Kawehno:ke (also known as Cornwall Island), which straddles the Ontario/New York State border, she was “the little arty kid in the corner, who stayed inside at recess to paint and draw,” and dreamed of going to art school. Her dad chanced upon an open casting call on Facebook, and they thought, might as well try it. She was the last audition of the day.
Landing Avatar: The Last Airbender, by contrast, required more of a campaign. As a kid, Kiawentiio loved the animated series – its environmental and spiritual themes, its thoughtful depictions of Asian and Indigenous cultures, the battle scenes of Benders wielding the four elements, “the character arcs, the sheer craftsmanship. It would fill me.”
So when she heard rumours a few years ago about a live-action reboot, she had a feeling she’d be right for Katara, 14, a novice Waterbender, the last in her Southern Water Tribe, traumatized by the world war being waged by the Fire Nation, yet undaunted and hopeful. Teaming up with Aang, the title character (played in the series by Gordon Cormier), she begins to realize her potential. Kiawentiio asked her agents to keep an eye out, “just in case the universe is listening.”
The audition, when it came, was veiled in secrecy – fake project and character names, disguised scenes, all via Zoom. After a month-long series of “adrenalin-pumping” chemistry reads with other actors, showrunner Albert Kim delivered the news: Yes, it was Airbender; yes, they’d been searching the world for their Katara; and yes, it was her. She and her family burst into tears.
With her co-stars, Kiawentiio spent six weeks at “bending boot camp,” where each learned the martial art their movements are based on: wushu for Firebending, tai chi for Waterbending, Hung Ga for Earthbending and Bagua for Airbending. They shot on a cutting-edge mix of green screens, practical sets – Kyoshi Village was built in a working quarry in Coquitlam, B.C.; Jet’s hideout was filmed at WildPlay, a ziplining park in Maple Ridge, B.C. – and volume stages, including the world’s largest LED video wall studio, a near-circle lined with 2,500 LED wall panels and 760 LED ceiling panels, at Canadian Motion Picture Park in Burnaby, B.C.
“That stage was warm,” Kiawentiio says, laughing. “Wearing Katara’s big blue parka, pretending to be in the Arctic while being in a microwave.” Watching the animated series come to life was “surreal,” she continues. “When you see Appa in front of you” – a flying beast that combines bison, hippo and manatee – “or even small things like my necklace – I remember being almost in tears.”
Canada’s Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Kim’s Convenience) plays Iroh, brother to Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim); the actors playing Katara’s parents, Rainbow Dickerson and Joel Montgrand, also played Kiawentiio’s parents in Beans. But she didn’t get to hang out much – “I was in high school at the time, just trying to get through 11th grade,” she says. “Fun fact, I’ve never been to a first day of high school with my classmates. Every year I was doing something, travelling somewhere.” Now graduated, with a five-year option for possible future seasons, “I’m saving my next few years for the show and whatever else may come from it. But I plan on going to school in the future.”
Each of the four Airbender nations has real-world roots, including Omashu, Himalayan, Indonesian and Indigenous Arctic cultures; cultural consultants advised on folklore, history and mythology, as well as costumes, calligraphy and artifacts; and the series’ four directors are of Asian descent. That mattered, Kiawentiio says: “It’s 100-per-cent important to me that I represent where I come from, my people and my language. That comes with me to every character I portray.”
Her opportunity to embody authentic Indigenous characters has never been higher, as a spate of recent series attest: Reservation Dogs, Little Bird, Echo, True Detective: Night Country, the Yellowstone franchise. Lily Gladstone could well become the first Indigenous woman to win a Best Actress Oscar, for Killers of the Flower Moon. And Deer, Kiawentiio’s Beans director was an excellent role model: “Being able to see her be the leader, be so strong, opened my eyes to other things I can explore – directing, producing.”
But she doesn’t want portraying Indigenous characters to become its own kind of limit. “Those roles will always be at my root; they are what I can see myself in and relate to. That doesn’t have to be the end of what we’re capable of, though. We don’t have to just play the Indian friend, the Native guy. We can be just that doctor or teacher or lawyer, those regular roles. The days of just getting a role, and not The Native role, are still ahead of us.”
Now that Kiawentiio’s accidental career is skyrocketing, “it’s funny how weirdly normal it gets,” she says. “I understand how people can lose their groundedness. You’re in the air so much, how do you stay grounded? It’s helpful to keep my real life separate, with my family and friends, and have my work self be almost a persona.”
She’s always had a readable face, she realizes. “I can’t hide anything; it’s all in my eyes. But to be able to be in control of that to portray someone else is so interesting. My dad told me he’s never seen me light up the way I do when I’m on a set. That’s when I knew I should stick with it.”

My reaction to super wings vore on YouTube
Tumblr media
Okay. Let’s be clear that This is kinda weird cuz it looks weird but Jet is a boy and it’s impossible for boys can’t get pregnant but I’ll play along to it.
Tumblr media
Oh dear, dizzy seems to be really suffering during her pregnancy, look at her belly. There is a little hand in there.
Tumblr media
No golden boy! My favorite super wing not you to! Looks like he’s waiting for this baby to come out cuz he’s not having it with the kicking
(also can imagine him giving birth to this character)
Tumblr media
Yes can imagine her name will be Roberta anyways moving on
Tumblr media
Ellie looks like she is suffering like crazy just like dizzy but with a nose bleed (but grand Albert will be very happy to see that his own granddaughter is pregnant) although Ellie is to young to get pregnant
Tumblr media
Oh dear Paul got pregnant too, I’ll say it again it’s impossible for boys to get pregnant, bhe seems to be kinda chill right now and a bit uncomfortable but I can imagine him being pregnant with Kim cuz I’ve been imagining about her baby version for a while,
Also can imagine Paul holding baby Kim in his arms while crying tears of joy while Kim is asleep in his arms

Tumblr media
Astra not you too my 2nd favorite character in the show, she’s really suffering if you zoom in we could she is really crying and in pain, she might be pregnant with tiki and Taki the twins in season 8, cuz they are twins and it’s really tough to be pregnant with twins( btw, I have in Russian aunt named Julie and she says that it was so risky for her to be pregnant with twins) and congratulations to Astro for getting to be an uncle
Tumblr media
Tino might be pregnant with Sally ( the female pterodactyl in season 8) since they both dinosaurs and they are both in season 8.
Tumblr media
And Mira finally, she seems happy about this, unlike the other who are freaked out, can imagine her being pregnant with swampy

NATLA REVIEW (SEVERAL PARTS IN THE REBLOGS CUZ TUMBLR IS STUPID)
(1/4) Sorry, Tumblr is stupid, I can't just post my stuff and be on my way, like I gotta divide it in several posts because it's too long blugh. Ok ok ok. So I finished the show. Obviously. Somehow The Binge got me anyway. I will need to rewatch it to digest everything better and pay attention to small stuff and all, but first impressions off the bat: OBVIOUSLY IT'S FULL OF SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN RISKS. - I do not understand why they did not make Aang run away. When I learnt about it after the premiere, I was willing to let the show explain to me organically why that was changed. They didn't. And staying true to Aang running away was... just right there. All they had to do was not have him say "you're right buddy, I'll just clear my head" and that's it. Because at the end of Aang's little speech with Appa, I really was like "... and then you run away boy" because it really felt like it was building to this. @ Albert Kim, we need to talk. It is especially weird considering they had several characters and moments where people were either guilt-tripping, blaiming or being angry at Aang for not being there for 100 years. The scenes with Bumi, with Gyatso, would have been way more impactful had Aang ran away. I do not understand this decision and the show has given me no ground to understand or accept it. - NOT NEARLY ENOUGH MOMO AND APPA @ Albert Kim, we need to talk again. Per your IGN video, you teased me Appa being Aang's best friend. WHERE WAS IT???? I WILL SUE. And again, it's like why? Yes I got teary eyed at the Sokka/Momo scene in the finale, but huh, I would have BAWLED MY EYES OUT had they had more scenes and a stronger relationship (yes I'm talking about a boy and a lemure...) (and even tho I love Sokka/Momo, what about Momo/Aang???) Also there are scenes where Momo isn't there, and it's not making any sense because we have wide shots of all the Gaang on Appa and Momo is just... well not here. - I liked what they did with Azula and Ozai. It makes me really looking forward to some Azula/Zuko scenes. ? and I do think Ozai not burning and banishing Azula for standing up against him literally confirms what Zhao said to Zuko at the end, but idk if it's just my interpretation or just canon lol. I would have loved to see - finally - Azula's blue fire at the end. Like yeah, we saw her bending lightning, but what about the iconic blue fire huh???

Columbia Pictures Month : Bye Bye Birdie
Tumblr media
Next film on my Columbia film reviews is the musical Bye Bye Birdie .Now I have no familiarity with the musical ,so will view this as a stand alone thing
Now the plot of this 1963 film is that singing superstar Conrad Birdie (Jesse Pearson ) has just been drafted ,and Rosie (Janet Leigh ) secretsary and fiance to song writer Albert Peterson (Dick Van Dyke) ,has set up a final performance on the Ed Sullivan show ,with a publicity stunt of him kissing a girl from his fan club ,Kim MacAfee(Ann Margeret ) and shennaigans ensue
Soooooo thats the basic plot but um,mm.......Yeah this plot is somehow very complicated and paper thin ,so it makes no damn bit of sense .The story would make more sense if Albert was the agent of Conrad and not a struggling song writer ,I didnt even bring up the fact Albert is also a biochemist ,or Kims jealous boyfriend hugo ,or Alberts overbearing mother .From what I understand the story is supposed to be about Albert and Rosie......But the movie is more about Kim,and while I am thankful made a star out of Ann Margret who does her all with the role ,Kim shouldnt be the focus
Also tangent a big focus on the movie is Ed Sulivan ,he plays himself and his show is a big plot point .Now I was born way after his time, but his TV show was one of the biggest shows in America.....Soley because the guy had connections and paid well cause the guy has NO CHARISMA and by GOD ,HE CANT ACT .And yes I KNOW ,his show was popular cause he got amazing guests like Elvis,The Beatles ,Jim Henson, etc and his job was just to introduce but I am still baffled cause he is one of the most uncharismatic show business people I have ever seen .Sorry to get sidetracked, this has very little to do with the film,I know that but I honestly dont get the appeal of Ed Sullivan and theres a whole damn subplot about Paul Lynde being in love with him basically ,so I had to bring him up
OK so it might seem like I dont like the movie.....But I was entertained ,despite how messy it is.....Most of the songs are good ,not all timers for me but they are fun ,I think the most fun song for me was Kids performed by Paul Lynde ,I think that is the best song in the movie and I was surprised to find Put On A Happy Face came from this .Honestly its just fun to witness the dancing talents of Dick Van Dyke in anything ,and the musical talents of Ann-Margret ,Paul Lynde and surprisingly Janet Leigh .In fact the cast in general is very good,Dick Van Dyke is fun as this mamas boy song writer (Nowhere near as good as his performance in the next years Mary Poppins but hes good ),Janet Leigh is really good and she impressed me in the musical sequences like I said ,Ann Margret while I dont think her character shouldve been the lead COMMANDS the camera and is very good (Her opening song had me concearned but the later songs showed me how good she was ),Maureen Stapleton is frankly hilarious as the overbearing mother, and Paul Lynde is the scene stealer as Kims father ,a lot of his lines made me laugh .The film is also very funny every time I was unsure about the film thered be a really funny joke .I also think George Sidney directs the film well the film going into often surreal and somewhat cartoony vibes
I dunno I dont LOVE the movie.....But I enjoy it .I do reccomend it if you want something kind of silly

At the beach
buckle up this is a LONG post
Jett: Swims all the time. But sometimes flies, sometimes runs at the beach. He's filled with energy. Later he has to get all the sand out of his motors
Dizzy: Doesn't really swim, but looks out for everyone just in case. Eventually joins Astra's treasure hunt. She likes pirates, so pretend pirate time
Donnie: Building huge sandcastles. Multiple, yes. Like that season 2 episode. He's making them FAST
Jerome: Sunbathing, also performs some stunts in the water. Later he dives and looks at fishes. He likes them.
Mira: She's having the time of her life ofc. Absolutely DESTROYS everyone in the water. She's the fastest swimmer for a reason
Bello: Talking to crabs. They climb all over him, others are surprised he's not getting snapped to death. But it's Bello, so they also aren't surprised
Paul: Also looking out for everyone just in case. But gets dragged to water by Kim.
Grand Albert: Takes a trip on the whole beach. Good place to try out his new gadgets in his bag
Astra: Metal detector's out, she's on a treasure hunt. Trying to find any scraps to use on her gadgets, or maybe something valuable.
Chase: Pulling the sea monster prank on the others, specifically Todd
Todd: Falls for it. Then gets revenge on Chase back
Flip: Playing volleyball with Neo. He's winning
Neo: About to take the sight in, but then got dragged by Flip. They're bad at volleyball
Kim: Swampy gave her a water gun. Dragged Paul to the sea, currently fighting him with water
Astro: Brought a switch. Under an umbrella, he's too busy playing Zelda
Scoop: Helps Donnie by bringing him tons of sand
Swampy: Also in the water all the time. He's way too deep rn, looking at the fishes
Zoey: Also under an umbrella, munching on some burritos. First aid kit ready on her other hand
Badge: Keeps an eye out
Rover: Collecting shells, rocks, etc.
Remi: Helping Donnie with the sandcastles
Wily: With Swampy, looking at the fishes
Sparky: Currently chilling
Crystal: HATES THE HEAT. Found a cave-like place so she's NOT going out from there
Bucky: Collects shells, looks at insects, cries when he sees dead insects...
Sunny: Blasting the sickest summer hits from her boombox. It's party time!
Leo: Chilling. A bit far from Sunny though, because he likes quiet places more.
Super Pets: They're playing with the sand. Except Mini Jett, who's in water with Jett
Lime: Portable kitchen out, making snacks for everyone with a godly speed. In the meantime she's munching on cookies
Tony: I think he's strolling around. Also passing everyone snacks
Tino: Chilling. Sometimes collects shells. But also amazed by the beach, he loves it
Ellie: With Grand Albert. She's also trying out her gadgets with him
Shine: Collects the garbage, categorizes them, keeps some valuable ones, because he hates seeing them
Narae: Stayed with Grand Albert & Ellie a bit, but then went out on an exploring trip bc something caught her interest
Goldenboy: Not there. Wonders why he couldn't find those "meddling Super Wings!"

i will say the atla movie did the southern air temple better than the atla netflix series did ... and I can say this cause i just saw it a Month Ago.. we got aang being in denial that everyone is dead/ them exploring the temples/meeting momo/ aang in a good mood then finding Gyatso corpse/ seeing his necklace that in that adapation Aang made for gyatso. Then. just going bersek. Heck even the cGI looked better. CGI netflix aang was so uncanny valley to me. and katara is talking to AANG.. yes katara hugs him in the the netflix seriese but it rang hollow cause she didn't talk him down. with the southern air temple ep albert kim/bryke/ other writers basically went Eh.. three minutes. DONE.. it was very lame of em . Plus katara saying this makes aang stronger? LAME.. would never say that too Aang.. netflix series failed the southern air temple episode.. Flashy effects does not=good if the writing sucks

Sunny, you once shared what the bible said about the first episodes of s5, right? Just remembered that and was wondering if you could talk about what it said about the latest episodes, I'm curious 👉👈
oh YES thank you so much
I'll take it episode by episode. I'm also not going through the entire bible again, and my memory of the bible is spotty at times. I also haven't rewatched any of the episodes that I had already seen (Protection, Emotion, Pretension, Revelation) and I haven't yet seen Adoration because I'm waiting to watch it with a friend (but I know what happens, more or less).
Everything else is below the cut! No spoilers for what happens in anything unreleased, just stuff up to Revelation (but this is all in the bible).
Migration
We knew that:
Bob Roth would be akumatized
Luka would be going out of the country with Jagged
We did not know that:
Luka would almost be akumatized
By the end of the episode, Marinette and Adrien would know that Luka knows (and everyone else, for that matter)
Derision
We knew that:
It would be exploring Marinette's past, including that Marinette had a crush on Kim and it ended poorly because of Chloe, and this is why she's having problems with Adrien
Kim would be akumatized
We did not know that:
Adrien would try to cataclysm someone
Kim would be such a dick (I was kinda excited for the Marikim part of it ngl)
Intuition
We knew that:
There would be another AI called ADA (I was pissed when I learned this because I would have named @ml-bot-art "ADA" before "Albert" if I'd known) and ADA would get akumatized
I'm only just now putting this together, but it actually says that the akumatized villain in Intuition would be called "Bugfighter," but I never put together that ADA would be Bugfighter (like I've said, the organization of the bible is.... strange)
Cosmobug and Astrocat would be back
We did not know that:
The Snake Miraculous holder keeps aging through the power of the Second Chance, and this has Implications for Gabriel (though to be fair the bible never mentioned him getting cataclysm'd at all)
It wasn't even abundantly clear that Gabriel himself would be using the power of Intuition - the phrasing makes sense now but I had no expectations for it
Just a personal note that this episode was about as surprising to me as Destruction. There really was not much meaningful information in the bible.
Protection
We knew that:
Kagami would be getting akumatized
Lila would be manipulating Kagami
Marinette and Adrien development (vaguely)
We did not know that:
Adrien and Marinette would get so close
Adoration
We knew that:
Sabrina would be getting akumatized into Vanisher
The butler's name would be revealed (but the phrasing of the bible made me think his name would be Jean-Armand, not just Armand)
Zoe has feelings for Marinette
Marinette would be under the impression she has feelings for Adrien
I can't speak very much one what we didn't know because I haven't seen the episode, but I can say we didn't know Zoe and Marc's class was a year younger than Marinette and Adrien's. Also just a note, the bible legit says "[Zoe] has feelings for Marinette" - I know the show doesn't technically say it, but that's clearly about censors, not intent.
Emotion
Hooo, boy.
We knew that:
Felix would be appearing with the Peacock Miraculous and his name would be Argos (I had to keep that quiet for so long, which killed me because that's a name one of my friends suggested for a morally gray Peacock holder in like May 2021)
There would be a Diamond's Dance and Adrien and Kagami would be the king and queen
Marinette would decide to go
There was going to be a sentibeing called Redmoon
We did not know that:
There would be a song
Felix would take Adrien's identity
There would be no lucky charm
Anything about Feligami (I promise, the bible doesn't say anything about Feligami, when I went insane over them it was unprompted and under the assumption they would never be canon)
Felix would feel bad about creating Redmoon or basically anything else to do with Redmoon
This episode would have a lot of evidence to substantiate senti theories
(Note: the bible doesn't actually confirm the sentitheory, nor does it give any timeline on where the hell we'll learn more about it.)
Pretension
We knew that:
Tomoe would be akuamtized
Marinette would try to talk to Gabriel, Kagami would be inspired by this, and an "unexpected guest" would stop Kagami
We did not know that:
Felix would be playing a role at all
Again, anything about the Feligami
I don't remember the episode that well but I know that a very big chunk of what happened in it was a huge surprise
Revelation
We knew that:
Lila would be an important character and she'd get akumatized
Scarabella would be back
I'm not going to do a "we did not know that" section for this one because I haven't seen it recently enough to have much to say about that.
(I'm also gonna be real, there was another big thing in Revelation we learned in the bible - you saw it too if you saw the episode - but I don't want to be the one connecting those pieces for you if you didn't see them yourself, and as far as I can tell, it's not necessarily widespread that people did see them. What I'm getting at will be abundantly clear by 521/Confrontation.)
As an endnote, I was actually just outlining yesterday basically everything we know about the final 6 episodes, which isn't a lot. Okay, to be fair, there's quite a bit about Confrontation, but... when I was listing out what we knew about Collusion, Representation, and Confrontation, I said "basically nothing" to all of those. Representation, the only thing I know is who's getting akumatized. Re-creation, I know... well, the thing I know about that one is something that doesn't necessarily speak to the plot of the episode, is what I'll say.
The bible is now at a place where it's not very helpful. Spoilers from it are minimal at this point. There have been quite a few other leaks, but as far as I can tell, they're frequently unsubstantiated and just not that legitimate looking.

top 5 male characters
Again in no order:
Jimmy McGill. the man is seven characters (yes amplified personality traits, but each one is different) in a trench coat, I would literally kill for him. Me and Kim are the same person.
(honorary mention to Chuck for making me want to strangle him and cry on his dumb cardigans at the same time, tragic abusive fucker)
Kendall Roy. plastic Jesus, would rather drown himself to escape in a mimicry of taking responsibility, and doesn't know how to exist if people don't need him.
actually Albert Rosenfield as the only man in Twin Peaks who doesn't project on Laura and recognises BOB as the evil that men do/the cycles of abuse, and not just a get out of jail free card. (I do have sympathy for Leland! he got abused too! but BOB preyed on his urges and it's not just BOB bad/Leland good)
11th Doctor for being the fairytale hero and monster all at once and the 12th Doctor for best character development from prickly asshole to punk grandpa.
Withnail. He's gay and doomed, how can I not.

“[January 14, 1950]
Awful sadness. Without a letter from you today, we have to wait until Monday. (Make sure I always get a letter on Saturday. It helps until Monday.) I've read your letters again. It all ends with the one I received yesterday, which moved me so much, and in which you tell me all your doubts (Marcel's story, and three or four details that make me feel the distance between us). Yes, heavy sadness. Now it's my turn, I suppose you can turn away from me. And when I think that two and a half months are still ahead of us... But I'll try to deny that.
At noon arrival of Janine Michel [Gallimard] Augusta and Anne*. I left them my room and emigrated to the other end of the floor in a smaller but nice room too. F[rancine] moved downstairs to the small office. The house lost its silence. But I arranged my room so as not to leave it. Anyway, it's better for my rest. And tonight, I feel tired of my whole body. You, only you, could make me happy and healthy right now. Do you hear, do you hear me at least?
[January 15, 1950]
Bad alarm clock. Beautiful day. I stay in bed, unable to do anything. Disagreeable with F [rancine], foolishly and unjustly (because she misplaced a prescription!). I end up apologizing. Again the bed and solitude. And I feel myself sinking down a slope that I know well, at the end of which I will find absolute loneliness, disgust for life and the inability to see a human face.
Finally, I jumped out of bed and decided to respond with work. I will spend today sending out my late mail, which weighs me down and is an excellent excuse to do nothing ("I have my mail to do", so I don't do anything else, and besides, I don't do my mail either). Starting tomorrow, I will try to sink into the work of closing my eyes and ears to ghosts and keep myself intact until spring. Repeating every morning: "We love each other. We will triumph over everything" and do whatever it takes to make me richer rather than diminished. It would probably be easier if every now and then I had your little hand in mine. But let's not dream.
Kim's leaving me tonight. His masters are coming to get him and I feel sad at the thought too. I had become attached to that beast. Maybe because it was attached to me. He never left me an inch, lying in my room and waiting for me to wake up to clean me up with his tongue as wide as a washcloth. The eyes of dogs, their infinite trust, their inexhaustible love ... I will miss Kim.
And you, my love? From Wednesday to today I don't know what you've been up to. A black hole. Tell me about it. I suppose you must have seen Marcel [Herrand] among others. Do you know how stupid I feel? The first time I understood Marcel's feeling was a few days before we broke up and we were having dinner in front of the Mathurins. You remember that evening, don't you? I told him that we were going to Mexico together, I think it was. And I understood. A few days later, it was over for us. Of course, it had nothing to do with that, and it still hasn't. But the heart sometimes blindly seeks suffering.
Tell me what you did. Tell me also what you think, everything you think in this story. Tell me also that you love me, and how you love me, and that you will love me to the end. I need it, it's water in the desert. My love, my dear love, I turn to you, without respite, with all my being, without exception. Forgive me for this rather dreary letter. It's your silence, perhaps. But my heart is alive and it is to you that it owes it. I'll get better, I'll work... But I'll never love you better, or more, now that I'm entirely abandoned to you. I kiss your eyes, your laughter, your neck under your hair... Oh what a shower of delight it would be to be able to hold you still under me, captive and warm... you and I, at last...”
Albert Camus to Maria Casarès, Correspondance, January 14-15, 1950 [#129]
* Anne Gallimard, daughter of Janine Gallimard.
