Knuckles voice actor ranking time!!!!!!! I said I’d do this after Prime came out but I’m slow hush
Going from worst to best (even though number one should be very obvious if you know anything about me). ofc, nothing against any of these VAs I’m judging them solely on how I personally think they stack up as voices for a fictional echidna!!!!! OK LET’S GET STARTED.
In last place, the 14th spot, is Fred Tatasciore, from the Sonic Drone Home short. I understand that he was just a replacement for Idris Elba for a little short, but this voice for Movie Knuckles is very unfitting. And, I know this isn’t the actor’s doing, but some of the way the lines were put together in the short felt very stiff and unnatural? And the voice itself makes him sound like a meat head. Bleh. Just, not a fan. 13th is Brian Drummond, from Sonic Underground. It’s.. a very different interpretation of his voice, lol? It’s the most high pitched and “cartoony” one, to me. It’s not bad at all tbh, just.. idk, not what I was expecting lol. It’s fine. Pre-Frontiers Dave B. Mitchell would be here instead if judged solely by his Team Sonic Racing performance. That specific performance was way more ear-bleeding to me than Brian Drummond’s will ever be. 12th is Bill Wise, from the English dub of the Sonic OVA. Similar to Brain Drummond, I don’t actually dislike this voice at all. It’s just very different to the others, so I’m not sure how to rank it. Apples and oranges, y’know? He makes Knuckles sound more like an average guy instead of a cartoon character, which is why he’s above Brian Drummond, but that’s really it. It’s a perfectly solid performance. 11th is Adam Nurada from Sonic Prime. I have similar complaints as everyone else has had, his voice is just too deep. And some specific lines stand out as being especially bad, giving me “Patrick Star” vibes. But, when he’s not sounding like an impression of THE idiot cartoon character, I do actually like his take on Knuckles. I think if he didn’t force his voice deeper than necessary he would sound great, I’m assuming it’s a direction problem? It’s a bit of a mixed bag, some lines are bad, but most are fine and even good. The previous two are better performances imo, but as a character voice for Knuckles, I give Adam Nurada the edge. 10th is Ryan Drummond. Yeah, Sonic’s first English voice actor. He voiced Knuckles for one game, being Sonic Shuffle. It’s basically just a Michael McGaharn impression lmao. It’s got that “generic super hero voice” vibe that reminds me of Knuckles’ SA1 E3 voice lol. 9th is Michael McGaharn, from SA1. I like how young and confused he sounds, he makes Knuckles actually sound like a naive teenager, but I have to admit that the delivery is very flat and emotionless. Parts of the E3 version are more emotive, but it has that problem I just mentioned where it sounds like some super hero voice, which makes me feel like the character himself is acting, which brings me out of it. I did really like this direction for the character, but the execution was a little shaky. 8th is Yasunori Matsumoto, his Japanese OVA voice. AFAIK this is Knuckles’ first voiced appearance, ever? I really like the deep voice, and how he sounds like an average dude. Honestly I would probably rank him higher bc this is just exactly what I want out of a Knuckles voice lol, but it’d just feel wrong for me to put this one-off role above the actors that stuck with the character for multiple years. It’s really good. 7th is Travis Willingham. He is amazing as Boom Knuckles and fits perfectly, but for game Knuckles, he just never... clicked for me. I look at Knuckles and hear Travis’ voice come out of him and there’s just a disconnect for me. It just... isn’t Knuckles to me. He’s an amazing actor, and fits fine enough, but he never felt quite right as Knuckles, to me. He is PEAK as Boom Knuckles, tho. There’s none of that disconnect at all when his voice comes from Boom Knuckles’ mouth. 6th is Dave B. Mitchell. As previously stated, if this were solely based on his TSR performance he would be way down at the bottom of the ranking. I can only assume it was due to terrible direction. That TSR voice is literally unlistenable to me. But, since then, his Knuckles voice has improved significantly. I do admit that it sounds very much like a Travis impression, but something about the more recent direction makes me prefer Dave’s take, while I still have to admit that I think Travis is objectively a better actor. Dave was amazing in Frontiers, and was great in the twitter takeover. Somehow, his voice coming out of Knuckles’ character model feels more fitting than Travis’ ever did to me. It may just be a writing thing. I’m glad Dave has good material to work with now. It’s still not quite the kind of voice I would prefer for Knuckles, but he does a good job.
5th is Dan Green. Dan Green was probably the Knuckles voice I had the most exposure to as a kid, because I watched Sonic X’s dub. He sounds fantastic when he yells, lol. I love the energy he brings to the character. He was really fitting for the character, and I do wish Knuckles would go back to having this kind of voice. I.. really have nothing bad at all to say about his Knuckles voice. He’s only fifth because I personally like the upcoming four better, it’s just preference. He’s great.
4th is Scott Dreier. I just LOVE how chill he is, while still being able to nail the angrier lines. Objectively, he’s not as good of an actor as many of the previous entries, but as a Knuckles voice I adore his take. When I read Knuckles lines in fics, this voice is the closest to what I hear.. though I tend to not include the American accent lol. Some of his delivery is a little monotonous, especially in SA2, but tbh I kinda prefer his SA2 performance more than his Heroes one. I like how calm it is. I tend to not prefer when he ramps up the gruffness too much, it sounds like he’s trying too hard, but when he hits that balance just right it is GREAT. It sounds like I’m dropping a lot of negatives but that’s just because it’s a little inconsistent, but those parts of this Knuckles voice that I like, I REALLY like. 3rd is Vincent Tong. REALLY surprising that one of Sonic Prime’s new Knuckles VAs is up so high! We don’t get to hear him do a “normal” Knuckles voice, because he voices all of Knuckles’ shatterverse variants (Renegade, Gnarly and Dread), but he does AMAZING. His range is absolutely insane! Every one of the three versions of Knuckles he voices sound perfect for that specific variant. When I heard his voice for Dread my first assumption was that they pulled in a third voice actor because it was so drastically different to the others, but no it’s still him! It’s incredibly impressive! Some of Renegade’s lines where the accent is less present are PERFECT for normal Knuckles. Literally my ideal English Modern Knuckles voice. Like if Game Knuckles was given a voice like that, and it stuck around, my life would be complete. I WOULD BE SO HAPPY. 2nd is Idris Elba. Do I even need to explain!? He KILLED it as Movie Knuckles. He stole the entire movie! That casting decision was absolutely phenomenal. He does such an amazing job. It doesn’t feel like one of those cases where they hire a celebrity just for the sake of the name, he actually fits the character flawlessly. Any other voice simply would not work. He makes Knuckles sound intimidating, but also bluntly honest and trusting, and carries his comedy perfectly. Some of the jokes WOULD NOT have landed as well if it weren’t for his amazing delivery. Knowing that he’ll be returning for the Knuckles series is half the reason I’m so excited for it. If I heard that they were getting someone else to voice Movie Knuckles for the series, I think I’d be... concerned. But with Idris Elba on board, I know that, at the very least, Knuckles will sound great in the series. And in 1st place is, of course, Nobutoshi Canna. Knuckles’ Japanese voice actor that has stuck around since Sonic Adventure all the way back in 1998. He was perfect back then, and remains perfect today. He has voiced Knuckles in EVERYTHING since Sonic Adventure. Every game, every show, everything (barring the Sonic Movie 2) . He has been with the character for decades. He is THE Knuckles. I revisit some of my favourite lines of his all the time because I just can’t get enough of his voice. I LOVE WHEN HE YELLS SO MUCH. There’s something about his.. enunciation? that I just ADORE. idk how to describe it, there’s just some quality to his voice that I could listen to for FOREVER. The only negative I can think of is that he does not work for Boom Knuckles. His voice is just incompatible with a dumb Knuckles, that was the only case where it would’ve been better find another VA in my opinion. But for every other Knuckles he’s voiced is just utter perfection. I cannot sing enough praise for this man.

Well, it’s finally been one full year. And to follow up on a post from 6 months ago (goddamn) here’s my tier list of all the visual media I experienced (personal descriptions for anything from the first 6 months can be found on that post)
Tumblr media
John Mulaney From Scratch: I actually saw this live on stage instead of seeing him through Netflix for a change. ‘‘Twas a riot
Sonic Frontiers: This game is peak and IT’S TIME TO FACE YOUR FEEEEARRS!!! CAUSE WHEN YOUR TIME HAS COME AND GOOOOOONE!!! (This game is the shit and it got snubbed at the game awards)
Chainsaw Man: I loved it when Denji said “it’s chainsawin’ time” then proceeded to chainsaw the place up. Truly the anime of all time (But really, This was great and Kick Back slaps)
The Boys: Butcher said it best “Fuckin’ diabolical”
Xenoblade Chronicles 3: damn... just damn... (Sena best girl BTW)
Baki: absolutely bat-shit insane. I love it
Shadow the Hedgehog Real-Time Fandub: you ever notice how basically each dub has the main villain freaking out over something Shadow did? And here, Da Devil from Da Bible keeps it going
Werewolf by Night: ok that was just cool
Glitch Techs: Nicktoons... FOR GAMERZ!!!
Dragon Ball Super Broly: animation; spectacular. Story flow; strange. Broly; maximum. Hotel; Trivago
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R: cool references, off-feeling physics. Overall, pretty Di Molto
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: oh hey, Mantis gets some actual screen time! Neat!
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent: Nic Cage playing Nic Cage. CAGECEPTION
The Boys Presents Diabolical: not as diabolical, but still neat
Scoobynatural: I’m not counting this as the entirety of Supernatural because it was just this episode. Interesting to say the least
American Psycho: look at that subtle, off-white filmmaking. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my god, it even has a watermark. (Interesting to say the least. Now let’s see Paul Allen’s movie)
Sonic Prime: Doctor Strange 2 except Sonic and better somehow
Johnny Test (Netflix): Y’Know it’s (whipcrack) actually not that (whipcrack) bad a cartoon (whipcrack x2)
Rise of the TMNT Movie: I still prefer the 2012 series, but still cool
Tekken Bloodline: so this is Tekken, huh? Boxy shadows n’ all?
Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods: honestly the one part I really liked was the “I WILL NOT LET YOU DESTROY MY WOOOOORLD!!!” Part. Sean popped the fuck off there
Black Adam: cool, I suppose (But is it still about drive, still about power? Do we still stay hungry and do we still devour?)
Garfield’s Halloween Adventure: spoopy And decent
Oddballs: alright, but I think we all know James can do better than this
2001 a Space Odyssey: ...sorry, I think my brain left the chat for a moment. What the fuck even happened here?!
Gremlins 2: “Gremlins 2”? More like “Grem-MID 2”
Well, that marks the end of the year. Let’s pray the next one is at least a little better (Mario Movie, HERE WE COME!!!)
Oh, and one last thing: I’m finally getting close to releasing something I’ve had in the works for at least a year now. Stay tuned for the full story (and I do mean “story”)

Randomly picked up a 3DS game called “Rodea: The sky soldier” because it peaked my interest (and was cheap) and plated the first two chapters so far
Warning: Opinions listed here might change when I get further in the game!
The controls need some time to get used to (horribly simplified, it’s basically Sonic’s homing attack: the game. You jump, aim where you wanna go, and fly there, plus your attack is literally a Sonic spin dash/homing attack.)
The music is surprisingly nice, it fits that whole “floating islands in the sky” vibe and I like the “fantasy sky kingdom with robots but not steampunk” theme the game seems to have
The character designs I’ve seen so far are nice too, same for their personalities (though I’d be joking if I said they were fleshed out in any way)
The gameplay (being tied to the controls) consists of mostly flying, to explore the islands, collect stuff, defeat enemies, find hidden doors and bosses, and lots of jumping from/to the ground and walls
(I have no idea how I managed to find not one, but two dualscreen handheld games about jumping high a lot that also have nice soundtracks)
But the highlight is the voice acting and cutscenes
...They’re not the best. In fact, they’re giving me Sonic 06/Adventure vibes sometimes. But they’re good in that “it’s not good but not annoying and maybe enjoyable in a charming kids cartoon way” way yknow?
In fact, the whole game feels that way so far
It’s giving me that really charming vibe of a game I would have played to death back on my DSi even though I wouldn’t understand even half of what’s going on or how it functions, just having a good time with a game that’s really no masterpiece but still enjoyable for me, or a dub of an anime show on a kids channel with a simple (slightly overdramatic) fantasy plot, simple but (mostly) likable characters and a simple nice adventure to have
That type of of “not good but still enjoyable for me” y’know?
To summarize: It’s by no means a 10/10 game (I’d give it a 5-6/10 I think) and you’re not missing out on anything great, but if you can tolerate weird controls and enjoy games/shows like I described above why not check it out? And if you don’t like it, it’s pretty cheap anyway so you didn’t loose anything, which basically means you can’t go wrong!
Also you get a gun™️

How long have you been a fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog series? What was the first Sonic game you played and who is your favorite character?
I was introduced to sonic through Sonic X and the glorious dub that was on 4kids when I was around 4 or 5 and it’s just been a part of my life since but I got more involved in the franchise, like playing games and reading up on the franchises history when I was 13.
The first game I played was Sonic and the secret rings, cries cuz those motion controls SUCK, and the Sonic RPG for the DS which I think is called Sonic Chronicles? Rip cuz they’re both mediocre games. Although I do like Secret Rings story ngl.
And call me basic or predictable but I got a soft spot for Shadow. I didn’t really think much of him as a kid, like I genuinely just looked at him as a darker version of sonic but in the recent years I’ve just grown to love the original intent with him and his growth throughout the series. Y’know before the entire franchise got rebranded in the 2010’s and SEGA butchered his character but this isn’t about that sjsjsjaka.
As nonsensical and bad Sonic ‘06 is I’m still the type of person (and probably always will be the type of person) to say that’s been Shadow’s best appearance and arc. That’s something I can talk at length about and never get tired of it because I genuine love how ‘06 handled Shadow and his growth from his previous games. Everything shadow went through in Adventure 2, Heroes, and his own game kinda led up to the type of character Shadow was in ‘06, he was fully developed, had faith in his teammates and was willing to fight no matter the odds.
It’s just a bummer all of this has been forgotten about since the franchise has entered this new age, and the only inkling we got of Shadow being like this again was in his DLC and when he shows up in the regular story of Forces.

Sorry to bug you I was wondering if you could recommend any good magical girl shows that are on Hulu or Netflix or like anything like that!
I don’t use Hulu, but I’m surely familiar with Netflix!
For starters, Glitter Force is garbage, worst dub ever. Watch Pretty Cure instead.
Of course, Puella Magi Madoka Magica is totally out of question.
Despite the fact that Yuki Yuna is a Hero had genuine friendship bonds (y’know, UNLIKE most edgy MG series out there), it was ableist as fuck and it sexualized some of its girls, so NO.
And The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina looks like some edgefest. I strongly refuse to touch it.
And I can’t bring myself to like Miraculous Ladybug, becaise it’s so BOOOOORING!
Apparently, H2O has an animated series! It’s called Mermaid Adventures, if I recall correctly...
There’s LoliRock too; but it has gotten the Sonic Underground treatment...
Twelve Forever was great, and it surpassed my expectations!
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was good before the third season ruined everything.
If you’re an adult, Super Drags is good to make you laugh (and it was certainly better than most adult animations out there...)
If you want something zero percent raunchy and without overaching plots, then True and the Rainbow Kingdom is what you need!
Mia & Me and Luna Petunia are the closest things of a non-japanese magical girl isekai you’ll ever get...
Even if I didn’t watched on Netflix, there’s Little Witch Academia (not sure if you could change the language on the settings, because I’m not fond of english dubs...)
For nostalgia purposes, there’s Winx Club (can’t say much about it, since I’ve stopped at the fourth season...) and World Of Winx is a thing too, but I’ve heard some shady stuff about it, so it doesn’t count for me...
...or maybe, you could try its spin-off, Pop Pixie!
Ooh! And they have the Equestria Girls movies, too! They were certainly better than the actual series, IMO!
...and that’s all I could get out from my memory at the moment... I might be a tad bit out of loop as of late, but still...

   ❝…❞
god there’s so much to do here holy shit toxi. im just,,,
in the case of this being an AU, i have to address first how different sonic’s life could have actually been without tails by his side. because when he first met tails, sonic was going through a hard and vulnerable time in his life and he almost went down a rabbit hole that could’ve changed things a lot for him. yeah, sonic had other friends at the time like knuckles and the chaotix, even amy if you wanna count her. but tails? man… that kid was like, one of the driving forces behind sonic’s decision to better himself. sonic wanted to be someone that tails could look up to and feel proud of doing so, ok. he helped him realize the path he really wanted to choose and it’s why when sonic made the jump to 3d games you stopped getting that attitude driven lil shit like in the sonic OVA or the mega drive comics (i rlly like this dub you should watch it) and started getting peppy sweet heart sonic aka ryan drumming and jason griffith sonic.
but yeah to make a LONG STORY SHORT, things COULD have been different. i’m not saying they WOULD HAVE…… but it’s possible you know.
with that out of the way i just. i love all of these potential dynamics. seeing this young kid working with eggman and kinda suspecting the guy was taking advantage of his young naive mind. like “what’s your deal kid? y’know he’s just using you, right? you ought’a just ditch the old creep and get yourself some real friends!” and heck………..sonic taking him under his wing still….. still having that mentor/mentee dynamic from before but it’s still not quite the same…
and HECK. RIVALS AND ENEMIES. could you imagine. that sure would be something. is still feel like sonic would take pity on tails and wouldn’t want to hurt him because come on he’s just a kid. he’d really be pulling his punches around tails man, and that would make things all the more challenging when trying to stop him and dr eggman.

Finished watching Pokemón Movie: I Choose You!
And I loved it. ♥
Tumblr media
As people know, I spoiled myself on the movie back when it had pre-screening in France during July, so I didn’t go totally blind on this movie. And y’know, it didn’t matter much, because I still managed to enjoy it (it probably managed to make me enjoy it way more than without reading spoilers), and aside from pacing problems and me not really liking Rocket Gang’s appearance in this movie, I’ll definitely rewatch this movie again. And I totally recommend it. Most important question from you guys is probably the following: did I cry? The answer? Hell yeah!
Tumblr media
Whenever I’ve tried watching either 4kids or TPCI dub of the Pokeani Series, I never really found myself liking how Ash Ketchum’s voice sounded like compared to Rica Matsumoto’s work as Satoshi. But I have to go back with my words now. I think Sarah Natochenny totally nailed it in this movie.
The Youtube Link I watched the movie from just stopped working (or it stopped the moment I clicked the link so I got DARN lucky), so I can’t provide any more screenshots except from few scenes. But my god I loved Pikachu in this movie, I grew to like Verity quite a bit, and I’m still laughing at Bonji being Dr. Eggman (since it’s Mike Pollock) in my head :D I just kept picturing a happy evil Doctor fanboying about Ho-oh. Thanks Sonic Fan in my head. You ruined that character for me. XD
Tumblr media
But this scene! Good lord let me tell you, I cried so god damn much I literarily started to have a headache. The emotions, the way Ash forced Pikachu to go into the ball to save him! I freaking loved how they did this scene!
I don’t care if people find Pikachu talking human language odd, to me it felt more like Ash understanding what Pikachu is saying, rather than Pikachu actually saying the lines. I know the lipsync would sort of suggest real human language, but I don’t see it as such. Either way, it was an emotional moment, and I bursted to tears at that scene. The way Pikachu reacts to Ash’s death after coming out of the ball ;_; Oh my god.
As much as I loved the movie thou, I have few gripes. Main gripe being what I mentioned before, the pacing. I don’t know if it was because of the TV format by Disney XD, but often times some scenes jumped to other scene so abruptly that I got confused for a moment. And that happened quite a bit throughout the movie. However, the scenery was beautiful, and animation was the most gorgeus thing I’ve yet seen in Pokemon movies. It’s clear they put a lot of love into this. Great celebration for 20th anniversary in my honest opinion.
There’s probably a lot of scenes i’d love to talk about, but I’m not sure how to talk of them really. So if you got questions or just wanna chat, send an ask or hit a message! I’m happy to talk about the movie! :)

a fantasy au(kinda?) of kekkai sensen
Basically theres a dimensional tear in helsalems lot (more beyond then helsalem’s lot but y’know) and as usual the Libra head off to investigate this phenomenon.
Its mainly stable, and just is a gigantic tear in spacetime that occasionally warps its surroundings like fuck and causes huge destruction, but other than that its fine. Not that big of a threat, since its stable and the destruction is more or less contained to one area. (compared to femt’s bullshit and the king of despair this is NOTHING)
But then when they get there and Leo’s using his eyes to figure out where its from and all that, the warp occurs. And leo can see everything. And milliseconds later, he sees nothing for the first time in forever.
Then leo wakes up, roughed up and face first into the dirt in the middle of some forest, with sonic tucked tightly into his shirt. His goggles are gone, theres tears in his clothes and he’s covered in dirt and he has no idea how he got here, other than that the tear did something.
Leo gets his wits together and theorizes that if he’s here, then the rest of Libra should be around here too, and gets searching.
Eventually sonic wakes up and helps out, but instead of finding anyone, they find a village. A medieval sort of village, with wooden shacks and fences with livestock, with people wearing really, really old clothes and Leo can’t help but think he’s nowhere near helsalem’s lot anymore.
More spying and investigating later, he discovers he’s not even on earth anymore. He’s in some weird other dimension where there’s magic and monsters and they're still stuck in the medieval era and holy shit--
and leo’s stranded, all alone except for sonic, with clothes that make him stick out like a sore thumb and nothing to defend himself with but his eyes. (but then that last part was always true, wasn’t it?)
Sonic ends up taking the next course of action for him, and goes off and steals a bunch of money, as well as a cloak. Leo is very thankful but also very guilty, but kind of has no choice and accepts Sonic’s little gifts.
he travels, looking for the rest of the Libra crew, and ends up finding Zapp first, sometime after encountering his first big city.
Zapp, however, was no longer human. Still had his blood battle style abilities, except he was literally fire. A fire elemental, and not happy about it either. (”I CANT SMOKE, AND ALL I CAN EAT ARE GODDAMN ROCKS!! ROCKS, LEO, ROCKS!!”)
But either way both are re-united and since Leo’s theory of the rest of Libra being stranded here being more or less proven true, they go off to find the rest of the members.
(Its hilarious because Steven’s an ice elemental, KK is some sort of lighting spirit, Chain is a literal werewolf (with invisible werewolf abilities), zed is still a fish-man but with more gills and fins, and Klaus is a goddamn vampire.)
also eventually People spot leo with monsters and dub him the monster tamer. Leo isn’t sure if thats hilarious or disturbing.
