always super conflicted when buffy gets married and has kids in post-chosen fics. on the one hand, these are markers of the normal life that was stolen from her when she was called. if i squint, i can sort of imagine a world where buffy would want those things. on the other hand, no i fucking can't actually. buffy has never once expressed a desire to have kids or get married, even in the context of wanting a normal life. she's already essentially been forced to raise a child under really traumatic circumstances, and i doubt she'd want to do it again. also, i don't think she has a particularly positive view of marriage given her massive child of divorce baggage. more importantly, so much of the show and buffy's character in particular is tied to the development of her found family. buffy had what seemed like an ideal nuclear family and it fell apart irreparably. so she spends seven seasons finding familial bonds outside of the nuclear family structure. i just don't get the instinct to recreate that structure (even in a gay way) for a character who is so deeply invested in building other kinds of community.

i dont like spike or angel hate bc its always like ‘this one did something worse than the other’ like they were both serial killers . they both did questionable shit with and without souls. i dont uhhhhh care. im operating on fantasy supernatural show rules both of these guys would suck objectively irl but theyre not real. why are u watching the show about fucked up people who save the world and date fucked up guys (gender neutral) and complaining about the fucked up guys they date. stop putting ur fave on a pedestal by calling the other one a creep or whatever they are the Same. also they are kissing each other on the mouth.

When people say XANDER wasn't good to ANYA to critique their relationship instead of the other way around, of doing any critique about how a fully grown women (demon who tortures men for a millennium) coerced a teenager into a sexual relationship I see red. I go into kill mode.

I might have if my ask box was open for more than 15 seconds but in my genius I rbed an ask game and Then got around to it so hopefully asks about xander doing guys will start flowing in now but anyway ask game lmao
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
no Jonathan should Not have joined the scooby gang I'm sorry you like him but he has nothing to add to the group dynamic like good god at least Andrew is gay
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
my kneejerk on this one is Lindsey/Langel, like this horrid little cowboy lawyer who has a crush on Angel and Angel's ex-momwife and the potential of inserting him even more directly into the season 2 Angel/Darla Mega Divorce Arc with him not sure which of them he wants more is just. Too good. Angel and Darla are playing their evil sexy mind games and he alternates between which one he's poking in the arm like hey can you kiss me like you'd kiss them and Angel or Darla is like you'd die and he's like I accept that and they both only agree to it on days when the other one is really pissing them off. so maybe not Lindsey even but maybe we'll say people are sleeping on the comedy potential of a complete Angel/Lindsey/Darla triangle making everyone involved in it bitchier
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
I thought about it as a joke like it always starts but the past few days I've been endlessly entertained by the idea of Xander's post-series travels finding him dating a normal-seeming-if-very-strong Stanford student for a bit and it's going alright and one day his boyfriend is like oh hey my dad's visiting why not say hi and Xander's like shit okay meet the father I can do this how bad can he. Hi Angel.
thanks for the ask 👉

He knew it was unreasonably cruel, lashing out at Buffy like this. It wasn’t her fault. It hadn’t been. It had been him who’d listened, turned away, let Buffy run roughshod over Jenny’s heart—or, no, that wasn’t right, was it? Jenny had loved Buffy, but her love for Giles burned so brightly that it had very nearly killed her. It had been him who’d run roughshod over Jenny’s heart.
i return! with this!
this is for @hal-1500, because we have talked in great detail about the notion of jenny being very vulnerable post-passion and giles struggling with it! i meant to write something super cute about him fussing over her, but then suddenly it turned into "absolutely everyone is imploding post-passion even tho jenny lived," which. can also still be cute? maybe?
also you should totally check out hal's drabble on the same subject, which is basically if this was much much cuter and involved much less of giles trying to torpedo all of his relationships.

I’m sorry, but was no one going to tell me that Dawn Summers, the physical representation of Buffy’s innocence, of Buffy’s innermost vulnerability, just casually carries a Taser? Were none of you going to tell me that?

You see, in MY canon Faith and Xander eventually have an in-depth and (mostly) mature conversation (with lots of deflection using humor but the message still gets across. there’s also a lot of yelling and tears and passive aggressive statements that turn into aggressive statements) about when Faith almost raped him which leads to them talking about how they had both been sexually assaulted/taken advantage of by people with power over them as teenagers and how this has affected who they are and their relationships. This also leads to a conversation about how their parents are the same brand of horrible and everything associated with that.
I genuinely don’t know if Xander ever forgives Faith, but both of them walk away with a few wounds beginning to heal and an understanding of each other that neither share with any of the other Scoobies.

watching s7e19 empty places and s7e20 touched is so insane because like. buffy has tried her best to protect these girls. yes, she's made mistakes, but how could she not? she's never had to look out for such a big team, most of them rather incompetent (which isn't their fault either), and the other potentials have made mistakes, too. but all the time before, her scoobies have had certain skills, so this is a completely new situation. also, she's never been a perfect leader, not in this season, and not before. but again, she's never had such a big and relatively incompetent team. what i find extremely wild is that willow, anya and xander are also so against her. faith isn't great either (and i really love her) but the way everyone, faith included, is critizing buffy about "being a harsh/singular leader" and then immediately becoming just that once they threw buffy out is crazy. the fact buffy believes them is so heartbreaking as well... she doesn't see how much she's been trying.
and once again, spike is the only one who stood up for her. who, in the last ~2 seasons, has always stood up for her. once again, with feeling comes to mind. "i'll be free if that bitch burns. i better go help her." giles (also very shitty in empty places and touched and also before that, trying to kill spike) wants her to go alone to fight the demon, but spike knows that going alone is what kills slayers. it's how he killed two slayers. but even before that, like constantly protecting dawn throughout seasons 5 and 6, getting kidnapped and almost killed by glory but not giving dawn up, or "i made a promise to a lady" during the ritual, the way he breaks down after buffy's died. and even after that, he still takes care of dawn, is still around. but he's not even told the scoobies are trying to resurrect buffy. giles continually telling him that his opinion isn't something the scoobies could ever use. after everything he did, he is still not respected. the only person who ever sees him is buffy, and as much as i like their relationship, she needs a long time to see him and to accept it. but when she does, it's magical.
