You know, I used to watch Supernatural with different eyes years ago, I didn't realize that the way Dean treated Sam most of the time was bad and toxic. The first few seasons, it wasn't so bad, I feel like they were on the same level of codependency (which it was interesting to watch), but as the years passed, I come to realize that Dean never really treated Sam as equal, and the level of abuse was escalating, to the point that I couldn't stand their scenes together.

I don't hate their dynamic, I still have fun watching their scenes, but it's really hard for me to see Sam, especially in s10 trying to save his brother that didn't want to be saved, and when a friend of theirs died, his brother goes "it should be you in there, not her" when in the previous season, this same brother put an angel inside his little brother without his consent because he couldn't bear to lose him. When Dean asked Sam if he would do the same for him and Sam responded "no, not with the same circumstances", because he knew what "consent" meant, and that's why, to me, that their level of codependency was different, because Sam set boundaries and I was really happy for him.

oh my godddd i’m thinking about how during the waterloo section hugo frequently stops for a second to briefly mention a regular person caught in the conflict, the woman who lived near by, the 18year old soldier who died, but there is no time to dwell. and he memorializes the the defeated french forces as a whole. something something the honor and resilience in dying in failing battle, but waterloo is a grand historical event, even if the individuals are forgotten, the battle is not. but then for 1832 he zooms in on albeit fictional individuals in a failed revolution that would have been nearly forgotten if not for les mis, these are the potential stories of every man, revolutionary, soldier in a hopeless cause, they all have the rich an integral life. and the book itself managed to at least memorialize the june rebellion, letting the real people who died be at least remembered like the french soldiers in waterloo,,,, i’m going to cry,,,, thinking about how a big tab on the june rebellion wikipedia page is for les mis,,, i’m actually shaking right now
