Three Ships: This is the worst question to ask me because I have dozens I need to pick from and I just enjoy fics without shipping too. This is painful but if I must be forced to pick (ugh) sanji x everyone, luffy x everyone (I am aware this is cheating but you can't make me pick!!), and right now qifrey x oruggio/olruggio because I have Witch Hat Atelier brainrot.

Currently Reading: I am reading like five books at once and a bunch of manga. Currently reading: JJK (just to suffer at this point), CSM (to suffer some more), One Piece, Tougen Anki and Witch Hat Atelier. For books I have: Each Night Was Illuminated by Jodi Lynn Anderson, and Lunar Love by Laura Kung Jessen. There are other books but I didn't even get far into them so it's kind of unfair to list them as currently reading lmao.

Last Movie: I was forced to go watch that new Avatar movie because my little brother wanted to go and he never asks me for anything so I appeased him but I'm not a huge movie person. I prefer TV shows.

Craving: I crave coffee and violence every day. Next question!

first ever ship: It's a memory I just unlocked BUT. It was Vegeta and Bulma from Dragon Ball Z... they are just too cute!

last movie: I don't watch a lot of movies but the last one I saw was fairly recent! It was the Barbie Movie. Before that Film Red, and before that Hereditary (I REALLY don't watch movies often for whatever reason. Probably bc I have the attention span of a squirrel).

currently reading: These days, I can only read non fiction books about my silly hobbies. Anyways the last book I was flipping through according to kindle is The Dictionary of Demons: Names of the Damned by Michelle Belanger LOL. 1. Song of the year?

I don’t know what that means but my favorite song atm is Dream Sweet in Sea Major by Miracle Musical

4. Movie of the year?

I think I watched maybe two movies this year that weren’t MST3K lmao

If MST3K does count, however, then it’s The Touch of Satan.

If it doesn’t, then it’s I Married An Alien From Outer Space or... something like that, I can’t remember the exact title but you can guess the premise. Surprisingly not an MST one, though of similar quality.

If we mean good movies though, then... hmm. I did watch Good Will Hunting which is critically acclaimed and boring as all hell. I’ll take the Martians and Satan any day of the week.

8. Game of the year?

I did not play many games but I did play Zoombinis. And Pokemon Black which I’m in the middle of now. Heck yeah.

11. Something you want to do again next year?

Not much to be honest. I’d like to repeat as few things from this year as possible. I’d like to try going to the aquarium again, but since I didn’t actually get to do that, it probably doesn’t count.

12. Talk about a new friend you made this year

Sure, I’ll talk about @gay-for-stanford. He’s cool, knows how to animate which is impressive, is good at art and has two dogs and a teacher who looks like James Mason as Captain Nemo, which is fantastic.

13. How was your birthday this year?

Uneventful but that’s how I like it. Also a HUGE improvement on the year we were getting our house refinished so they painted all our windows shut and I had a panic attack. Nothing could ever be worse than that!

14. Favorite book you read this year?

I’m actually forgetting most of what books I read this year. I think I’ll go with Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke!

19. What’re you excited about for next year?

The Green Knight with Dev Patel as Sir Gawain. Here’s hoping it happens!

20. What’s something you learned this year?

Face masks are murder in summer but delightfully warm in winter so I may start wearing them in winter forever. I mean they’re nicer than a scarf and keep away the flu and colds!

23. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?

“Biden wins so don’t stress too much about the upcoming election,trust me, there’s gonna be enough shit for you to worry about without that.”

24. Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions?

I don’t think I made any last year? So no, but that’s okay

YEAH! I accomplished almost nothing this year but my two actual accomplishments are completing OC-tober/Inktober for the first time, and the advent of the Wizard Story.

To commemorate I’ll talk about Wurm.

Wurm is a Cave Wizard (which just means he’s a wizard who lives in a cave). Like most wizards, he went through a magical girl transformation upon gaining his powers and now he looks like an oversized olm/dragon thing. And he is pink and slimy which is how he got his name.

Wurm is very kind and gentle and a friend to all. He is skilled at charms, but not too skilled at baking. Or, honestly, much else other than charms. But he has his one thing he’s good at and he’s going to stick with it, darn it!

☺: three things that make my muse happy

1) Rainy days, when there’s not much that needs to get done and she can relax and read while listening to the thunder

2) Playing with/snuggling baby wurms

3) Spending time with Thaos in the moments between missions when they have some quiet time with just the two of them

✝: any religious beliefs my muse has

She’s a very devout Woedican, so she beleives strongly in the ideas of authority and justice. She believes there is an order the world is supposed to go by and a right way that things are supposed to be done. The greater good should always be served above everything else, even if it demands sacrifice, and Woedica regaining her throne serves that greater good because she can ensure the order of the world stays intact and provide guidance that kith need because left on their own they just cause a lot of uncontrolled chaos

(if you can’t tell by the long rambling answer, Woedican theology is so interesting to me in terms of characterization XD )

EDH Deck Tech: Phelddagrif Group Hug

Hello & welcome to this weekly deck tech! This week we’re doing something very very special and very close to my heart, we’re talking about Phelddagrif! The commander that gives your opponents some life, some hippo tokens, and some card draw!

Over the past few years I’ve talked a lot about this card and the archetype Group Hug but I never actually wrote a deck tech about it so today this is going to change. For those who don’t know the archetype, Group Hug is all about helping everyone at the table through various methods. Now I don’t claim to be the Group Hug expert, but I’ve been playing this deck for many many years and got the chance to try about every possible card that could fit to know what works and what doesn’t, for example I think cards like Braids Conjurer Adept, Hypergenesis, Oath of Druids & Tempting Wurm (cards that let every player play some cards for free are not great ideas...from my experience instead of “helping” the players it usually gives a window for 1 of them to win the game, which makes things less fun for everyone else, so I avoid those kind of cards. If you like them though go ahead and play them, they are very Group Hug for sure! In any case, what follows is a deck tech of the version I’m playing at the moment and what I feel is the most fun version of the deck, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Ramping Up

Let’s start with something kind of boring: ramp. I see too many decks out there focused on strategy too much that they don’t include ramp or mana fixing, which often leads to clunky plays & unstable mana base. If you’re playing green you need to make some space for some ramp it really helps any deck. What I’m running is Rampant Growth, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Farseek, Cultivate, Kodama’s Reach & Explosive Vegetation. Those cards really ensure you can accelerate your game plan and have a smooth curve.

Mana Rocks

Another good way to fix your mana and ramp up are mana rocks. In the same way as you should play ramp in green decks, in ANY decks you need to play some mana rocks, ALWAYS. I feel like the best ones to run are Chromatic Lantern, Azorius Signet, Selesnya Signet & Simic Signet. You could play more, but with these plus the ramp spells it feels like enough.

Recursion

I think this is a personal preference, but I feel that if you’re playing green decks you need some amount of graveyard recursion, and honestly it’s REALLY useful in this deck. Having ways of bringing back certain cards to reuse them can be massive, or at the very least, pretty useful. I’m running Reclaim, Eternal Witness, Skullwinder, Noxious Revival & Regrowth. I used to play more but it felt a bit like an overkill. Those cards are really good to bring back whatever card you had that was dealt with, or just to reuse something that might be useful.

Pillowfort

Now this is a very common theme you’ll see among Group Hug decks, one that I’ve neglected a little but still appreciate in the deck. The idea is that with these kind of effects people will avoid attacking you, which gives you more time to do your things. What I found was that the amount of help you’re providing to your opponents, a) they will instinctively not attack you because you benefit them, and b) often they’ll have enough mana to attack you anyways. I still feel like it’s important to run a few Pillowfort effects to protect yourself in the early game like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda & Collective Restraint. There are other options but I personally don’t run more.

Removal

Every deck needs some answers and playing Group Hug doesn’t change that; the difference is that here you can run removal that gives your opponent some compensation, so they’ll feel less bad about what happened. I honestly love those removal spells because they tend to be cheaper because of the drawback, and they give your opponents some neat stuff! I’m running Curse of the Swine, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshare, Condemn, Oblation, Beast Within, Pongify, Rapid Hybridization & Reality Shift. These cards let you prevent someone from taking too much advantage from your kindness, so that every player can have fun.
