FIC IDEA VAULT #15: A BAGGINSHIELD AFTERLIFE REUNION/TIME TRAVEL/ FIX-IT/BILBO DESTROYS THE RING IN PLACE OF FRODO FIC
Back on my Bagginshield era, I'm reading fics on them (I stopped bc various SW ships and other ships had me on a chokehold, how about those last 15 on Good Omens Ep6?? :c) and listening to my playlist once more, I think I had since the start of the year with hardly any of my OTP around (except for my phone background) ANYWAY this is to inform you I am also back on my bullshit and I come with another fic idea, which will be put on hold until I can complete the other 164453196859 ideas I have. Ok, not that many, but I do have a lot of very detailed ideas that I do want to write and a bunch of half sentenced ones that are just ideas, so here we goooooooo
Bilbo dies on the way to Valinor and awakens on it as his 50 year old self, to the astonishment of the Elves, Gandalf and Frodo. Something is wrong with the afterlife, it is in the air and everyone is on edge, Frodo most of all, as he has felt this presence before.
Sauron may have died on Arda, but he was still in part present in the afterlife, wrecking havoc on everything. Bilbo embarks to the green hills of Yavanna's garden, the land where all Hobbits go, with Frodo and Gandalf. Upon reunitign with family and friends, Yavanna herself welcomes the brave hobbits but Bilbo can notice the tense manner in which she speaks to Gandalf and offers his help. Yavanna informs them that the various lands of the Valar are on lockdown as they face attacks from the darkness and they fear they may not last until Iluvitar can help them, but that is a mission that Gandalf and the other wizards don't know how long it will take. She is afraid for her husbands and needs a way to contact him. She believes having them all cut off from each other was the wrong choice, uniting their forces they will be able to hold off the darkness better than on their own. So, Bilbo is determined to once more become a burglar and enter another mountain. Yavanna does warn him though that this time, the dragon is on the outside of the mountain. Sauron has set Smaug onto the Mountain that is Mahal's domain.
Bilbo sets off with four trouble hobbits to sneak into the Dwarven Halls, managing to distract the dragon enough that he ramms into the mountain and knocks himself out. They find a way inside and find a funny scene, Bilbo's dwarves are attempting to take down the front doors, despite their maker trying to make them see reason. They had heard Smaug's attempts to draw them out, the last thing the dragon had told them, aimed at Thorin himself, was that he was going to go to the Gardens to find Bilbo himself and get his revenge. Bilbo had at that moment drawn away his attention and having not heard the thunderous racket for awhile, the dwarves inside had panicked and were now attempting to try to kill the dragon themselves. Bilbo laughs at their ridiculousness and is almost squished by 13 dwarves. Mahal knows they wouldn't be there unless his wife had sent them and Bilbo gives him the message Yavanna had given him.
Mahal himself is now more than ever determined to find a way to stop the rampage that Sauron is inflicting on their lands. He goes out the way the hobbits came in to take care of a knocked out Smaug, and together, the hobbits, the dwarves and a Valar set off for the Gardens once more.
Reunited, the Valar are planning and discarding plans faster than the others can follow, until Mahal has a very dangerous plan, which he calls the Durin Last Resort.
The reason that Sauron is now able to still remain in lands of the Valar is because he was able to draw power from the remaining rings still in Middle Earth at the time of the War of the Ring, destroying it had not completely cut him off. The other rings had to be found and destroyed before the One Ring was finally banished, only then would Sauron finally be defeated. Time was not a straight line, it happened all at once, and still, Mahal and Yavanna could sent people back as Mahal had done before for Durin in his various reincarnations.
This makes Frodo almost collapse from the anxiety, but he swears that he will try his best if he is asked to be the Ring Bearer again. Bilbo can't take seeing his dear nephew in so much pain, not when he knows that he wasted so much time by doing nothing but using the ring as a simple party trick. He offers himself to go and be the Ring Bearer this time, reasoning that even if Frodo went back to the beginning of his adventure, Sauron already had plenty of time to be prepared and on the lookout for the Ring, but when Bilbo got the Ring himself, Sauron was not strong enough to do much but be the necromancer.
Mahal agrees but Yavanna is not happy. She refuses to put Bilbo in such danger, unless the company also go with him. She wishes for this to be a second chance for the line of Durin, and thus Bilbo wouldn't be alone on his trials. They cannot be sure exactly when Bilbo will go back to, just that it will before the retaking of Erebor. He will also be the only one who will initially have his memories, everyone else will need to be told a special message to unlock those memories back in the world of the living.
Bilbo is then send back in time and back to life a couple of years before his adventure and sets to making things right not just for his friends but also for many others in his life.
Anway, sorry for the innaccuracies on the Valar and everything else, I will not read the Silm and will just wing it lol. Essentially, I want BAMF Bilbo who gets to reunite with his dwarves in the afterlife, and then gets send back into his past to redo the Quest and also go on to destroy the Ring in the place of Frodo. If he and his King are able to finally stop being idiots and actually speak on their feelings, well, we will see. Those two are worse at communication than an angel and demon I know, so it might take a while lol.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
My stats tell me that I've written 50, but 5 are multi-chapter collections, so... a lot. Yeah.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
733,820. If you asked me three years ago if I could ever write that much I would've laughed in your face. Isn't growth amazing?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Harry Potter (though I do read some Good Omens, Carry on Simon and Bagginshield stuff)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
UGH. I don't want to be honest here, since 2 of the five are Dramione fics I've now listed as ANON because of harassment reasons. I'll give you the NEXT five instead ;)

Mastermind (Draco x Hermione, Draco x Harry, Draco x Ron, Ron x Harry) The worst UHEA I've ever inflicted on y'all is this Dronarry fest 2023 story. Dark stalker Draco goes off the rails in the end. It's a masterpiece, I'm so proud of it.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
From Sunset to Star Rise (Harry x Ron) Cozy fall vibes, falling in love, little to no angst (Ron has a tiny bit of anxiety, that's all)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yes. Mainly the bigger ship ones (Dramione, looking at you) If you're wondering WHY I write rare pairs a lot, it's because rare pair fandom is a safe space with AWESOME people. We may be few in number, but WE GO HARD and LOVE HARDER.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
ALL KINDS (though I'm not great a fluffy smut). Check out my HP Kinktober Collection 2023 posting daily RIGHT NOW. It's very kinky and dark.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
The closest I've come to crossover is more like "inspired by a vibe." I wrote a Community (TV Series) inspired paintball fic here: All's Fair in Love & War & Paintball (multiple ships)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had many requests, but no one has followed through yet.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No! But I'm interested in this concept, especially if the co-author is someone I vibe with.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
STAWP. It's too hard a question! Lately, I'm obsessed with Dronarry, and any combination of those three.
I also think I'm more in love with stories than ships. If it's an amazing story I end it with "OMG this is the BEST EVER" and I say it about a lot of ships.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm writing a multichap Drarry fic where Draco is a wandmaker, and it's falling in love fluff. I'm terrified to write them because I feel like I'll get torn to shreds because the Drarry fandom is too amazing for the likes of little old me. I'll just read Drarry and call it good, and MAYBE I'll get the courage to finish someday.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Ideas. I'm chockful of ideas. Also, I read a ton, so I think the more you read, the better you write.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Fluff. I HATE writing fluff. Why is it so hard?
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't typically do it because I'm monolingual and don't want to fuck it up. I don't mind when others do it

How to Care for Your Monster Book: A Guide by Rubeus Hagrid (Hagrid x Monster Book of Monsters)
Y'aaaaaallll... I have no regrets about this fic. It's the only fic I've ever written that is perfect, I'll never top it, it's just so funny and weird (like me).

Okay Hannigram and Spideypool fam, who will allow me to tempt them over to Klive in The Umbrella Academy fandom? We are way too small, and in need of fresh blood. Let me whisper in your ear about why it's awesome! Just look at this grouchy old murderbaby and his pansexual gnc disaster brother???
One's a 58 year old time travelling assassin stuck in his 13 year old body, the other's an immortal conduit to the other side and occasional accidental and reluctant cult leader!
Let's talk about the fact that as soon as Five reappeared after having been missing for 15 years, he takes a break in the middle of his Very Important 'The Apocalypse is Coming' lecture for this exchange:
(and how I adore the rest of their siblings being, "wait, can we go back to the whole the apocalypse is happening in a week thing, pls")
Both have some serious PTSD -- Five from being trapped alone in the apocalypse for 45 years then being forced to be an assassin traveling through time killing innocent people. Klaus for a whole boat load of spoilery reasons, but lets say having ghosties haunting him his entire life is a good starting point, and then accidentally serving in Vietnam and losing his first love in the process is a good starting point, but really only the tip of the iceburg...But that's okay, they deal with it in totally healthy ways--by drinking to excess, doing lots of drugs, and never talking about their trauma!
But they get up to wacky hijinks, go on road trips, sing romantic duets, and occasionally open up to each other and have a totally adorable tendency to talk at the same time and reaching the same conclusions <3
Plus, look at these adorable babies!!! Prickly little Five letting baby Klaus hang all over him! Clearly they were crushing hard on each other as kids.
And now some recs! I haven't read a lot because I am working on a long fic, and I don't like being influenced by similar stories. However, there are some great ones I've come across!

Soft Sixties by sarkywoman - Lovely season 2 AU where Klaus and Five stick together when they time travel to the 60s, and end up a few years earlier than most of the rest of the gang (like Klaus in the show). It's sexy and sweet and domestic, with great characterisation.I really love Five's unwillingness to lose what he's got, no matter what lengths he has to go to, and how Klaus is all in with him. (I recommend all their stuff tbh, love how they write this ship!)
An Unlikely Pair by Schattenmalerin - Pre-canon teenaged Klive. Sadly unfinished, but what's there is really, really great. They have a great dynamic, with precocious Klaus fully aware of what's going on between them, while genius but innocent Five is a little slower catching on. Takes place when their relationship is starting to go from the innocent puppy love stage to the burgeoning awareness of their sexual attraction to one another. I really wish there was more of this *le sigh*
Easy and impossible by Softestsweetestlove - Super sexy and hot season 3 fic with bed sharing and dirty talk. Make sure to read the follow up, as well as all the rest of their stuff. I simply adore how they write these two, with Klaus desperately horny for Five, and Five feeling safe and comfortable with Klaus.
And the couple short fics I've written so far (both for kinktober, so you know, kinky porn):
In the Palm of Your Hands - Post season 3, siblings all living together, Klaus decides to start getting his tattoos done again and is left unable to use his hands for certain things...he and Five have been flirtatiously toeing the line in the next step of their relationship, and Five decides to cross on over and lend a hand. (Kinks - autoerotic asphyxiation, breathplay, body modification, masturbation-ish)
Need to Hear You Say - post season 3 curtain fic with lots of sex. Just wanted to write some fluffy, uncomplicated established relationship with exploring kinks. It was supposed to be short and sweet and got away from me... (Kinks -- all consensual -- dollification, somnophilia, drugged sex, agalmatophilia, slut-shaming, dirty talk, crossdressing but I mean Klaus is GNC anyway...)

I always try to respond to comments, but sometimes some slip through the cracks.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Regular readers of my fic know don't do unhappy endings, but I'll say With Extra Chocolate Chips because while it's a soft, fluffy fic, the problem that exists at the beginning hasn't been resolved by the end.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All of my endings are happy, lol. But I'll say And you may ask yourself, well, how did I get here? because it has three happy endings. (Bitty deserves all the happy endings.)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
If people hate my fic, they have fortunately kept it to themselves.
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
I'm so bad at writing smut. Maybe I've written some things that are smut adjacent, but most of it is awkward and/or humorous with a lot of talking and laughter.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've never written a crossover.

Years ago, between my kids being born (so...2004?), I cowrote a BSC "Super Special" fic with a bunch of people I met in the BSC thread on the old Fametracker forums. I wrote a couple of the Dawn chapters.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
It's definitely a tie between Jack and Bitty from Check, Please! and Leslie and Ben from Parks and Rec.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Longtime followers might remember my AU where Bitty and Jack meet later in life, when their daughters are college roommates. I started writing it months before I even posted anything for this fandom. And I just haven't been able to figure it out. Part of it is that it's so complex, with two original characters (the daughters) and four different POVs. I haven't quite figured out where I want one daughter's plot to go. I've since written a fic with a similar concept (Bitty and Jack never kiss, reunite years later when they both have teenage daughters), but it's still very different from this WIP. I'd like to say I'll eventually finish it but at this point who knows.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, probably.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Any type of description, particularly how things move or work, which is probably why I have such a hard time writing smut.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it works for the fic, sure, though I'm only fluent in English so it's unlikely I would ever do it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
When I was 7, I read all of Beverly Cleary's Ramona books and was distraught that I couldn't find out what happened next. My dad told me to write my own Ramona book so I did. I think I wrote one chapter before abandoning it because I'd discovered Judy Blume's books.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
This is such a tough call, but right now it might be And you may ask yourself, well, how did I get here? because it has a good blend of fluff and angst, three happy endings, a wild premise that still managed to be (as of its writing) canon compliant, and one of my absolute favorite scenes that I've ever written. Writing it was such a good time, and I miss when my words flowed that easily.

long distance javid that starts on tumblr: well-known fan creator edition
(thank you @roideny for listening to me rant!)
jack kelly is a fanartist who starts posting his digital works when he's about 13 and by the time he's 17, he's well known in the fandom he creates for. he gets requests, he does commissions, he uses it as a way to save for college- and also because it's fun and he likes drawing his silly little favorite characters doing their silly little tasks. he has a separate blog for non-fandom pieces (anything from OCs to scans of his traditional paintings, even the odd piece of vent art) and that gets a lot of traction, too. jack kelly rises to Ikimaru/Viria/Burdge level fame on tumblr and its all just this 17 year old Mexican kid with a silly little drawing tablet his foster mom got him as an adoption gift.
david jacobs is a fic writer, and a well-known one at that. he started when he was about 12 and unsupervised, writing really bad Percy Jackson fanfic on wattpad, like any young gay should. his fics started gaining traction and as they did so, his skill became better too; by the time he's 17, he's cracking out chapter fics and fleshing out huge complex AUs. a lot of people follow along for his NaNoWriMo content and original works as well, like his poetry or original fiction pieces, but a LOT of his followers come from his fanfics. his AO3 has at least 85 works and he's one of those people who has thousands of hits on his works bc he's just really good (even if he doesn't think he deserves it). you know how sometimes, you read a fic, and it kind of changes your outlook on life for a bit? davey's the fic writer who creates that. he wants to be in the editing/writing business and he's making it known.
anyway!
jack and dave meeting over tumblr bc theyre in the same fandom. becoming mutuals, constantly rbing each other's stuff, tagging each other in posts, the works. they REALLY start interacting by jack drawing scenes from davey's fics and davey writing little drabbles inspired by jack's fanart, and pretty soon they're kind of Known in the fanon circle- people see one of them, and immediately think of the other.
soon, they start talking about more than just fandom stuff and find out that they're the same age, they like the same stuff, theyve been in the same fandoms for A While and just never put two and two together. and though they live pretty far from each other, their friendship is like. Cemented. they exchange other socials and start video chatting, facetiming, discord voice calls, etc. and are so In Like with each other but also long distance is Scary and Not Ideal and they're both embarrassed to say they met their crush on tumblr anyway so they just ignore it
and this goes on for YEARS. they FINALLY meet up when they both go to a con- as fans, but eventually they'll be vendors (jack for his art and davey for his eventual book series)- and they click instantly. i imagine they do some pretty sick Percy Jackson cosplays, bc i love headcanoning that they both grew up with it, and they have so much fun together. they stay up so late talking about anything and everything, they fall asleep next to each other even though there's another bed in the room, and they both wake up red-faced and awkward bc Wow He Looks Pretty With The Sunrise In His Eyes.
(side note: i imagine they share a hotel room, but Medda and Esther share a room as well, and they become close friends throughout the weekend! these boys aren't completely unsupervised.)
they both part ways- Jack going to New York and Davey going back to Chicago- but their friendship is just that much more important. they talk every day, from junior year of high school to sophomore year of college, and when they FINALLY get together for real, it's at another con. they've both moved onto different fandoms but they're still SO close and just ,, jack, 20, having his first ever booth at a con, and asking davey to come for "moral support" but really he just wants to see him. davey helps him run his booth, helps restock and sell and run the "business" side of things. and when it's less busy, jack beta reads some of davey's new work, but the majority of the time they're just. talking. they stay in the same hotel room that night and it's one of those "i really want to hold him but i don't want to be weird" moments and it's so painfully obvious that they like each other but they're both Really scared of distance
and boom! they kiss in the hotel and the rest is history.
i think ,, davey transferring colleges to be closer to jack, and they move in together once he's For Sure going to school in the city. jack isn't going to school, he's an artist full-time, and his commissions and prints/stickers/mugs/merch/etc. rake in enough to pay the bills, plus with davey's added income from his part time job, they live modestly but comfortably.
once davey graduates, he starts sending his book- one he's been working on and editing and worldbuilding since before he even knew jack- out to editors, and then publishers, and eventually its hitting the shelves in every major bookstore in the country because it's such a hit.
and david gets to brag that his husband drew the cover art.

Hi! I just recently discovered your blog because of the post about comments.
And it was the most precious thing I ever read.
I suffer from social anxiety, and sometimes even leaving comments on fan fics makes me sweat, but I have managed to cope with it most healthily. Besides, my English has improved a lot, so I can write comments that match better my thoughts and personality.
I recently had an experience with an author,, who even reached me through Tumblr to thank me for a comment I deleted.
The thing is, I had a bad experience with an author, where I mentioned this fan fic they wrote and I enjoyed it so much, that discovering they write for another fandom I adore made me so happy. But, this author took it in the wrong way...
So, going back to the author, that reached me... I deleted my comment because, the fan fic I read of them before, is now orphanded. And, when I commented on this new fan fic (from a totally different fandom), I told them I enjoyed their other work (I even decided not to mention the name of the fan fic, just being cautious) but, I had second guesses and decided to delete my comment.
I never thought the author would send me a DM thanking me for that comment.
It was unexpected, to say the least. But sweet.
Also, I write fan fics. They don't receive a lot of comments, but I don't mind. I'm aware there are a lot of reasons for people not writing comments, but, now I need to think about if I had ever been perceived as rude, intimidating, or scary.
I have a lot to think about.
Sorry I let this sit in my ask box for so long!!!! I felt like it deserved a thoughtful response. ❤️ It was so sweet of you to tell me this. It’s been encouraging to see how many people agree with me, and simultaneously discouraging to see how many readers have had such terrible personal experiences interacting with authors. Obviously I think most authors are kind and receptive to comments, so it’s sad to see how many people might have missed out on kind and thoughtful comments because a handful of people are mean and inflammatory.
Obviously it’s such a nuanced issue, especially when you factor in language barriers, anxiety, neurodivergence, etc. it all feels so much harder than it needs to be.
It was good that author reached out and DM’d you about your comment!!!! I probably would have done the same thing tbh. even when I get triple notifications that someone’s edited their comment a few times I read all the versions and compare, lol.
It’s kind of crazy because back in the day on ffn I got some BRUTAL comments (someone told me my dialogue made my fic unreadably bad 😭) and those people were objectively assholes saying that to someone with “13 years old” in their bio. but also….I would not be the writer I am today without the criticism I received. nowadays if I was averaging dozens of comments a chapter and then I post several chapters with only a handful I have no idea if people have stopped reading/engaging because the problem is with the pacing, they don’t like the direction it’s going, etc. or if life got in the way. if saying your true reactions was still commonplace I’d be able to have a truer gage of what’s going on behind the scenes.
I’m the one posting my work online, and I’m responsible for my own emotional health in terms of reacting to what people say to me. people are allowed to leave mean comments, the internet is public. but I’m allowed to be hurt by them. but also, if I respond rudely, other people have a right to choose not to leave comments on my work in the future.
idk where I’m going with this except to say it’s hard work, both being a reader and being a writer. there’s no solution aside from everyone working together to be more loving and understanding across the board.
my post was originally just a heads up to my followers I know read my fic who might not comment about my personal preferences, not a universal “this is objective and universal for all readers and writers” so it’s been interesting to see it taken as such. crazy how many people can take a post about taking things in good faith in such bad faith!!!! so I’m very glad to hear that it hit for you ♥️ asks like this make the 10,000 angry notes in my activity feed feel worth it 😂

Welp let's see how this goes. I've been doing the writing thing for a little over two years, I think? Time has flown and I have done... little.
How many works do you have on AO3? 21.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 57,611. None of which have reached over the 12,000 mark.
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Something, Old, New, Broken and Blue at number 1, followed by Something Precious, a Bold Beginning, My Soul Says Ouch and Match Made in Vain. The top 3 are for Stranger Things, and the 4th and 5th are for Mafia: Definitive Edition. I reckon the top ones are at the top mainly because they're a bigger fandom.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do, I'm always so happy when I get them, but I worry I sound like a broken record. there's only so many ways to thank someone for reading and commenting, even though I'm overjoyed every time it happens.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Possibly Ready for Table for Doctor Who's The Two Doctors, since that doesn't end in a good spot for the main character, but the canon story has a good ending, so you know it's going to be ok. Probably Bon Appetit, for Mafia: DE, since it's a dark yandere cannabilism fic.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? That's a tough one, most of mine have happy endings. Possibly My Soul Says Ouch, since the characters spend so long pining over each other before getting together? Also my only polyam fic, (or at least where it's not just implied) so 50% extra love?
7. Do you write crossovers? I haven't, none have really occurred to me. I don't usually read them either, but if it's done well, I'll read it.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Not hate per se, but I did have one commenter who didn't like some things, and told me I could change things, and didn't need to stick to the canon. I quite liked my choices, though, and so did other kinder commenters. I do the fic for me, first and foremost.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Not in anything I've posted, but I'm currently writing a Galavant fic that has some, for angst reasons. I did have a tad in A Bold Beginning, but I danced around the subject so much that I don't think it counts. I'm ace, which I don't think helps much, I'm basing most of it off of what I've read.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope. Wouldn't mind if someone did though.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope.
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Mega tough one. Good Omens got me into it, but I haven't read much of them. Stobotnik, since I only watched the films for them? Two/Jamie? I read a lot of Johnlock, but that was ages ago. Geraskier? I think I just binge a ship and return to it if I really liked it. Depends if the ship's small or big, I guess.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I had a mermaid!Tommy au I tried to get going for a long while, but kept getting stuck on logistics. An omegaverse mafia fic, an angsty guilt fic, and even a fic for Forever (TV show from 2014). Plus a bunch of ideas that hit while I was writing something else, and I'd lost the fixation by the time I finished. There's still a few sticky notes with ideas in my phone, from inspo at work. I think I get a lot more ideas than I manage to write :(
15. What are your writing strengths? Beginnings. I love nothing more than going "Bang! Here's what's happening." Otherwise, I dunno what my strengths might be. Writing in full sentences for the first draft?
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Hanging on to the motivation to finish a fic. Not using a variation of the phrase "All they could do was hope." Nearly put that in thrice in three chapters by mistake, I'm sure it's getting old. Motivation for sure though, I miss the days when I was writing tropey one-shots, at least they were one and done.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I haven't really had a need to do it, and would worry about formatting if I did. Closest I've had to this was a heavily accented character, but I didn't really know how to write an accent and so I didn't write it in. Not sure if I'd do it that way again, but it made it easier.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Mafia: Definitive Edition. Wrote my first fic in one of my last year 12 math classes. Also the fandom that made me switch from looking at tumblr on Pinterest to actually being on tumblr. There wasn't enough content, so I had to go searching, and then make my own.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? Really want to throw my hat into the ring on Wez/The Golden Youth, from Mad Max 2, but the only ideas I have for them are really long. Other ones I've considered writing include Forever, Red Dwarf, Sportarobbie from Lazytown, Johnny/Reg from SAS Rogue Heroes and Jude/Cardan from The Cruel Prince.
20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? I'm really liking the Galavant fic I'm writing at the moment, mainly because it's shamelessly self-indulgent. Probably one of my Mafia fics, Chosen by the Life, Choking on my Love or Bring Me Home. It's been a while since I've read my own stuff, this has been a real trip down memory lane.
Desperately trying to remember people who write so I can tag them... I'm so bad at names, if I miss you I'm sorry. And I may not know you at all well so I apologise if you find this weird.

Hi ! Okay lets get into it.
2 . Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go
It depends on the story. I have a lot of outlines I've made and not written a thing then I have chapters written and have no clue what the middle will be like. I tend to think of a few interesting scenes and then I just see how I get there and it's sort of like a fun little adventure to get to the end if I ever do.
My 1920s fic, Return to Me is really mapped out. I have been editing it from the top for a while now but that is basically like my passion project more so than anything else. Like I don't think people like it too much. Actually it's gotten so much hate but I love writing it and that version of JK.
3 . Describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic
I take inspiration from anything really. Poems, Movies, I really try to make even those set up sort of chapters entertaining or add humor somehow so it's always fun. I hope others find reading my stuff fun as well.
One time I was reading an old fic and I started giggling like "Girl why did you think this was funny at all?"
11 . Link Your three favorite fics right now
Okay okay, I love so many, including yours. Like Well Wishes, I just can't get it out my head sometimes even after about a month. But I'll post some ongoing fics.
I love the concept of farm girl or country girl Mikasa. Like the fandom always drolls over Cowboy Jean concepts but he's a town boy really. But anyways, I just love an AU where it puts them in a situation so different from canon and really explores how they would interact within it.
This is one of my favorite ongoing fics. Me and my sister both talk about it together. I love a canon divergent fic or anything that dives into how Jeankasa would interact with Erens absence. Also I typically just skim action scenes even in books. The action written in this is so easy to visualize.
The way that the author describes the environment is astounding . You could tell they did so much research and added so much richness to the world that is already so compelling. This literally reads better than a lot of official tie in light novels I've read.
13 . What's a common writing tip that you almost always follow?
Honestly the only one is when using POV only refer to characters in a way that the person's POV knows them as. For example, Jean probably wouldn't say, The beautiful Ravenette, or Ravenette Women, he would say, Mikasa, his comrade, his old friend, his love. Something like that depending on the context.
I never think of my friends or partners as "The black haired male" you know. That was something I learned in a fiction writing class in Uni (elective).
Also, I avoid calling eyes orbs.
I just remembered another! Just say SAID for the most part. trying to avoid SAID can get tiresome.
So those are the only tips that I really think about. I don't think I'm the best writer but I think I've been improving because I see stuff from over a year ago and I think let me tweak it a little bit. I don't stand by that anymore.

1. The thing that got you hooked on hockey
I grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, about an hour south of Hershey, PA. My dad grew up going to watch the Hershey Bears play minor league hockey in the American Hockey League, and he continued the tradition with me (and my sister sometimes.) At first, I only really liked to go to the games for an opportunity to spend time with my dad, which was rare sometimes, but in middle school I somehow ended up being really good at floor hockey when we played it in gym class. One day I managed to score a hat trick, even though I was terrible at every other sport. (I also had a crush on one of the players on my school's hockey team at that point.) So I just kinda thought hockey was fun at that point and started enjoying the actual games more. Then I picked a favorite player from the Bears independently for the first time, and it was Mike Green. I didn't know much about him, just thought he was cool. He turned out to be really good, and when he got called up to the NHL to play for the Capitals, I started watching the Caps games on TV. (I was also lucky that we got the sports channel from Washington DC, despite not being all that close to there.)
2. Your first ever fandom friend
I'm not too established in the hockey fandom on here. I have a personal blog that I rarely use anymore that I used to post occasional Caps stuff on and follow a few Capitals people, but that's on a different account that I rarely use. I know hockey has become a lot more popular on footieblr over the years. I remember a few years back when it was more unusual for these fandoms to overlap that I sent a message or two to people who were in both fandoms that I thought it was cool that they liked both sports like I do. Basically my only hockey friend on here is @giirlinterrupted (and I'm so grateful that she doesn't put Sidney Crosby on my dash like so many other footieblr hockey fans seem to do.) IRL I have been surrounded by hockey fans most of my life though, because it's pretty big in my state in general, so the main time I felt a little more alone on that was the 2 1/2 years I was living in San Francisco. Unfortunately I am currently surrounded by Penguins fans :( as I am living in Pittsburgh. My IRL best friend is also into hockey, but she is a Sabres fan since she is from Buffalo and now lives in Rochester, NY.
3. The jersey you would most like to own
I wish I had an old Mike Green or Jay Beagle Caps jersey. Mike Green is now retired, and Jay Beagle, I don't even know.
4. YOUR player (you only get ONE so choose wisely)
I still have an unhealthy attachment to Jay Beagle even though he's been off the Caps for years. None of the current players can live up to that.
5. A pairing that deserves more fic
Don't really read fic much, but Ovi/Backstrom (I'm so out of the loop that I don't even know if they have a ship name) are adorable together, and idk how popular they are, at least outside of Caps fans.
6. Your favourite on-ice moment
6/7/18. What else?
I still cry when I think about it sometimes, and I can barely listen to "I Will Wait" by Mumford and Sons without crying due to that "Worth the Wait" video the Caps put out on social media after the Cup win.

1. are you named after anyone?
My mother says that I'm not but there is a song by a famous singer/songwriter that is named after the English version of my name that she likes a lot. So maybe subconsciously?
2. when was the last time you cried?
I'm tearing up a bit over fics or stuff I watch pretty easily - all out sobbing was probably sometimes last year or the year before because of health stuff. (Not mine.)
3. do you have kids?
No. (I'm sad about that, as well as happy. But more sad, really. It's complicated.)
4. do you use sarcasm a lot?
5. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
Clothes. Followed by if they're fucking able to greet (back then when I was in my retail job, aka until 3 weeks ago). Then their faces and what kind of expression they make.
6. what’s your eye colour?
Grey/Green. Used to be Blue/Grey with a hint of green but the green took over in recent years.
7. scary movies or good endings?
Good endings. For the love of everything, please give me a happy ending.
8. any special talents?
I can read and type really fast!
9. where were you born?
In the city next to the one I've lived in my whole life in because that one has the hospital.
10. what are your hobbies?
Sleeping. Reading. Watching stuff. Random scrolling and saving cute fanart. Ocassionally writing some overemotional, overdramatic cuddling.
11. do you have any pets?
I used to have a chinchilla. The last one has been gone for over 12 years by now. My old job would have been unfair to anything but a plush pet (and I have more than enough of those) because I was rarely at home and when I was I was too tired to do anything. Now I would have the time but my apartment is totally not fit for a pet and my energy levels are still very low so I don't have any plans in that direction.
12. what sports do you play/have you played?
I used to do: Skiing, ballett, ice skating, gymnastics, jazz dance, cycling. That was all during elementary school and fizzled out later. By the time I was 16 I was doing nothing more exciting than holding a book and that has continued until today with no signs of that changing.
13. how tall are you?
According to may passport: 1,61m. In reality? I think I used to be 1,62, or maybe a little bit more, but by now I'm 1,60 at the most. Because having standing jobs for about 20 years will shrink you dramatically.
14. favourite subject in school?
History.
15. dream job?
Retirement? I want to be left in peace! I never had a dream job but I always wanted to have an office job and I have finally managed to get that starting this month.

Avalance- Nate and Ava as siblings
A follow-up from my last post about the AU where Ava and Nate are sibling, a few people seemed interested so I figured that I would post the word vomit that comes with outlining fics, this is as far as I got with this one!
With all of my WIPs I could do more of these so let me know if you would be interested in reading notes for fics that I won’t get around to writing!

Backstory-
Hank was super homophobic so kicked Ava out when she was fifteen and she went to live with her Aunt Tamsin Sharpe.
Nate missed her but he was only 12/13 so didn’t feel like he could say anything.
Ava joined the army when she was old enough because she and Nate were both super into Commander Steel when they were younger.
She gets injured and is honourably discharged - Rip recruits her for the Time Bureau because he promised Commander Steel that he would take care of his family.
Season 3-
The Legends meet Ava in the same way as the show but Sara notices a look between Ava and Nate when she takes Ray down – She doesn’t find out the truth until the Romans take Ava and Nate says something along the lines of ‘I can’t let her go again!’ and he has to explain to the rest of the team that Ava is his sister.
The season would mostly go the same after that but add in Ava and Nate boding again after being apart for so long while the Avalance relationship blooms - Would also include *protective* brother Nate
Season 4-
Nate joins Ava to help with the bureau meeting like he does in the show but they both freak out when they see Hank is the one that arrives for the meeting and they try and send Gary to do it but have to intervene – Hank is super formal with her
In this AU Hank isn’t working with Neron, he’s there to check on Nate but didn’t put it together that Director Sharpe was Ava because she didn’t change her name until she was recruited by Rip.
This isn’t fully figured out in terms of how I would actually write it (which is why I haven’t lol!) but here’s some scenes that I would include:
- Nate tries to calm Ava down about the whole ‘Hank’ situation and so she gets high on a pot brownie just as Hank drops into the Waverider for a surprise inspection - Ava would snipe at him with this kind of exchange - Hank - ‘This place is a mess, it’s looks like it’s been abandoned’ / Ava - ‘Well you would know all about that, wouldn’t you Hank?’ — Sara pulls Ava away and finishes the inspection with him
- Ava finding out that Nate dated Vixen and being shocked because they spent their childhood obsessed with the JSA
- The birthday scene in Ava’s office but 100x more awkward — There would also be a much more innocent birthday with the siblings sharing cake and avoiding the fact that Hank didn’t once mention that it’s her birthday
- Nate tries to invite Ava to Thanksgiving but she refuses — Something goes wrong at the Bureau so she has to come and get Nate and sees her mom for the first time since she was kicked out
- Hank spends a lot of time antagonising Sara and she keeps trying to be respectful until she snaps at him for hurting Ava
- At some point, Ava gets hurt [Maybe by Neron?] and needs a blood transfusion but Nate and Hank are not the same blood type as her so they get her mom to come and give blood- she snaps at Hank for letting this happen and apologises to Ava for not stopping Hank years ago and also hugs Sara when she meets her for looking after her daughter
- Hank remains stubborn and keeps trying to be professional with Ava at work until Nate demands to know why since Ava has started coming home again (maybe she was invited to Christmas?) and Hank admits that he doesn’t know how he can make up for what he did
- Hank apologises to Ava and reveals that he has been carrying around a newspaper clipping about her getting a medal after her honourable discharge - Also reveal that he has been using his position to keep tabs on Sara and making sure that she has been good to her
- Not sure how this would be achieved but their relationship would slowly start to mend
- Just a funny scene to finish on, some time later Avalance find out that they’re having a baby and we can have the Friends-type scene- ‘She’ll have lots of aunts and uncles’ - Zari / ‘But I’m actually her uncle’ - Nate / ‘You’re all her family’ - Sara / ‘But out of all of us, who would you come to for a blood transfusion?’ - Nate / ‘Our baby is not getting your serum blood’ - Ava - Cue Nate being super offended!

Writer’s wrap, 6, 13, 16, 20 pls!
Thanks so much for the ask! This has been really fun and such an interesting series of questions to answer, so thanks for that!
6. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Okay, so for me this is a toss up because there are a few that really stand out (I know I’m supposed to pick one, but I just can’t so I’ll pick 3 lol)
Damaged: Not going to lie this story was my saving grace at the beginning of the pandemic because it was my way of coping with being in lockdown for a very long time. This story also is a spin on most of my other post-DOFP Scott/Logan stories where Scott is essentially so damaged in ways by life/his sense of duty/his pain/losses/life experiences/etc. that I don’t often explore most of my in fics. He’s at a dark place and Logan just is this beacon bringing him back and opening him up to finding something that in this world he never had before not even with the Logan that was a part of it before this Logan arrived (yes it sounds complicated, but if you read the fic you’ll get it I promise and it won’t disappoint). It follows the theme of second chances and finding your soulmate against impossible odds. I know it’s another long story, but it’s one that a lot of people have enjoyed and told me how it’s touched them along the way, which means a lot because it’s special to me.
Home Again: This story is so special to me because it’s about healing and forgiveness and love and basically me trying to fix some missteps in the MCU. I’ve had a lot of fun with this one writing ghost!Tony with Bucky that I’m probably (absolutely) stalling on the ending and I do apologize for that, but this one has been so special because I took a supernatural spin and knew from the very first word just how it would end and it has been such a fun journey for me. As for the future with it, I can promise it fits into my popular ‘additional tag’ on AO3 lol.
End of the Line: (Read the answer to the next question to find out why lol, but it was a triumph of writing for me at a time when I wasn’t sure where my writing future was at lol)
13. What’s your longest work of the year?
My longest work is End of the Line (766,117 words) This one is my longest work EVER and it started a little bit at the end of last year, but I imagine it will be the lonest fanfic I ever write and I did it for a reverse bang, which in retrospect was kind of crazy lol. The cool part about writing it is that it was the first time I wrote WinterIron and I was so inspired by the art/conversations that I had with @massivespacewren during the creative process that I wound up writing this epic story (at least in terms of length) where I posted a chapter every day for 68 days. It was a labor of love and a challenge unlike any other I’d taken on. I know the length sounds intimidating, but man was it fun to go all out and try something new. This AU story finds Tony rock bottom after he walks away from the team when an accidental misstep on a mission drives him away from being a hero. He’s caught up in his guilt/pain/grief that he leaves everything about his old life and finds himself in isolation where a chance meeting with a mysterious, handsome stranger turns his world around and brings him back to finding himself again. Along the way he seeks out redemption, love and a means of forgiving himself for the sins of the past. There’s so much I could say about that story and some behind the scenes secrets as well, but yeah that is probably my longest work in terms of fanfic of all time I think. Nothing will probably ever top that one lol.
16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
Angst with a happy ending (would be my guess) lol I am a sucker for stories where the reader knows at the end no matter how bad the obstacles might be that they will be rewarded for their time invested in the story. Some have said it takes away from the suspense element in putting that out there, but for me I like to let people know that yes there’s going to be a big payoff at the end and it’ll be well worth the wait :)
20. Which work of yours have you reread the most? Um, probably not one I’ve posted on AO3 as I was writing an original novel that I was kind of deeply invested in for a while. If I had to pick something I’ve posted on AO3, which is what this is about I suppose lol I would say probably Under Your Spell as it was a challenge someone gave me that I had fun with. I haven’t read it in a while, but there’s something about Logan drinking a ‘love potion’ and finding himself head over heels for Scott that was really fun to write. Another one I’ve enjoyed rereading every now and then is Date Night (which is the 2nd one shot in my Better Together series as it opened the door to Scott/Tony bonding with Bruce Banner and deepening their friendship in it. It kind of set the tone in a lot of ways for the multi-chapter fic (Better Together) that followed and honestly if people look deeper into the Better Together story you’ll probably not think of Waffle House the same again lol. Hands down that scene I’ve probably read a few times since it was super romantic and fun.

Bob the Boy Scout: A Wadlow Sibling Fic
here's a very special senpai fic! this one was requested by @robert-273-fan, who was curious about senpai's boy scout days. this took 3 days to write (april 6th, 16th and 19th to the 20th) and it was a lot of fun exploring senpai's past! enjoy! ;)
13 year old senpai is excited to experience camping with the boy scouts! how will his adventure go?
“Come on, it’s gotta be here somewhere!” Eugene Wadlow exclaimed as he searched through boxes in one half of the attic.
“Maybe it was thrown out when we moved.” Helen suggested.
Eugene gave her a look. “Yeah, you threw it out.”
“Hey, I didn’t! All I did was throw out a pair of your old socks.”
Betty bounded over to Eugene with something in her hand. “Is this it?”
Eugene looked at the thing, then at Betty. “...I seriously doubt I’m looking for a hairbrush with roses all over it.”
Betty sighed and returned to a box in the corner.
A few moments later, Harold Jr. scrambled up the stairs to ask, “Whatcha guys doing?”
“We heard quite the ruckus up here a few minutes ago.” Robert added as he followed right behind his baby brother.
“Eugene is making us look for something.” Helen replied.
“Ooh, can we help?” Harold Jr. asked eagerly, to which Eugene nodded.
“Look away!” he replied. “Maybe we’ll actually find something with your help. You too, Rob.”
Robert smiled and joined Betty in the corner while Harold Jr. searched with Helen. Betty was pulling out all sorts of trinkets.
“You’re going awfully fast.” Robert remarked to her.
“Yeah, because I know Gene’s not looking for jewelry!” Betty told him. “You’re not looking for jewelry, right?”
“Obviously not.” Eugene replied.
Robert took out a couple things and noticed something at the bottom of the box. “What’s this?”
He took out a red leather coffee table book and opened it. Inside read,
Memories
1925-1931
“Hey, this is a photo album!” he realized.
“Ooh, photos!” Betty exclaimed.
Helen and Harold Jr. went over to Betty and Robert.
“We still need to look in another box.” Eugene said.
“This is a nice break for all of us,” Helen told him. “You especially need it… Grumpy Pants.”
Harold Jr. giggled. “Look at pictures, Grumpy Pants!”
Eugene rolled his eyes with a sigh before joining the siblings in the corner. They gathered around Robert, who had the photo album in his lap.
“‘Betty the star’.” Harold Jr. read the caption under a photo of baby Betty. “She doesn’t look like a star! Just a baby.”
“Oh, I remember this!” Helen exclaimed.
“I don’t,” Betty said. “And I’m in the picture!”
“Mom entered you in a ‘cutest baby’ contest over the summer. You won second place.”
Robert smiled. “I think you should’ve won first place.”
Betty blushed and said, “Well, second place isn’t too bad.”
“Should’ve entered me in the contest.” Eugene muttered.
“You weren’t the baby, I was.”
“Well, I would’ve won first place for sure.”
Betty gave a triumphant smirk. “If you were participating, you wouldn’t have won at all!”
The siblings walked down memory lane as they looked through the album (with Harold Jr. experiencing it for the first time!). Near the end, he pointed out another notable photo.
“Look, Big Brother! You’re a soldier!” he exclaimed.
Robert chuckled. The photo was of him standing in front of the fireplace, his hands behind his back. A proud smile graced his face and his eyes shone excitedly behind his glasses.
“That’s me as a Boy Scout,” he told Harold Jr. “That sure was a lot of fun.”
“Really? What did you do?”
The other siblings were curious as well. They listened intently as Robert said, “Well, there’s one day I remember quite fondly- my first campout…”
...
It was the summer of 1931. A bus was driving through Bohm Forest Preserve in nearby Edwardsville. It was amazing that the forest was in the middle of a city…
And even more exciting that the Boy Scouts were going to be staying there for the weekend!
Thirteen year old Robert grinned as the Scouts’ bus stopped near a clearing. He wanted to race out of the bus and explore the forest, but there were a few things in his way. He was in the back of the bus, his legs couldn’t move fast enough…
And some boys were already scrambling through the aisle.
“Slow down, kids!” Scoutmaster Grason said.
The boys got into a single line and filed out. Robert was the last to leave. He ducked out of the bus, smiling as he left the stuffy bus. The fresh outside air was such a refreshing change!
Scoutmaster Grason’s mustache almost seemed to smile alongside him. “Alright, boys. Let’s get those tents up!”
Robert eagerly helped his fellow scouts put up the blue-green tents. Then everyone hurried to put their sleeping bags and other items inside.
“Uh oh…” Robert frowned. “I think I’ve run into a little problem.”
“Yeah, you don’t have a sleeping bag.” his tentmate, Roger, said.
“It’s not just that…”
Robert lied down. His legs stuck out of the tent.
“Looks like the animals will have a nice bed.” another Scout said.
Robert got up and sighed. “I was looking forward to sleeping in a tent, but I guess I’ll have to sleep outside.”
Scoutmaster Grason tapped a finger on his chin. “Hmm… I think I might have a solution.”
He took two cots out from the bus and wired them together. Then he set it in the tent and put another beside it.
“There you go!” he said.
Robert lied down on the cots inside the tents. “I fit! Gee, thanks, Scoutmaster Grason!”
The Scoutmaster smiled. “The pleasure is all mine.”
With all their belongings in place, the Scouts got started with their camping fun. They swam in the big Tower Lake. Robert laughed as he was splashed by Roger. When his tentmate wasn’t looking…
*SPLASH!*
Roger yelled as he was pelted with water. “What in the world? Who-”
He turned around and saw Robert, who burst out laughing.
“Got you!” he said.
Roger responded with a big splash of his own…
One that caused the world to blur
Robert gasped. “My glasses!”
“...Whoops.” a kid said.
“Looks like we’ll have to be your eyes now.” another told Robert.
Roger frowned. “Not if I have anything to say about it!”
He dove under the water and swam to the bottom. Robert’s golden spectacles lay on the lake floor. He grabbed the glasses, which he took to the surface.
Robert saw the blurry boy’s head pop up. His hand held something shiny. Even though Robert couldn’t see very well, he instantly knew what Roger was holding.
“My glasses!” Robert exclaimed. “Thank you, Roger!”
Roger smiled. “No problem, Bob.”
Robert put on his glasses and smiled. The world was instantly clear. When he and Roger played in the water, they made sure to be extra careful.
After drying off, the Scouts learned how to fish.
“I felt so many fish bite my toes while swimming, so I know just where to get some!” a boy said.
…He ended up not getting anything.
Robert, however, managed to catch a fish. It was little, but he didn’t care. All that mattered was that he had gotten something to eat.
“Let’s cook some dinner!” Scoutmaster Grason declared once fishing was over.
He showed the Scouts how to start a fire with sticks and how to clean the fish. Then he set one on a pan.
“I could use another fish here.” he said.
“I have one you could use!” Robert exclaimed eagerly.
He put the fish next to the one on the pan.
“Thank you kindly, Robert.” Scoutmaster Grason said to Robert with a smile.
After cooking those fish and more, the boys sat at a picnic table for lunch.
“Mmm,” Robert smiled as he tasted the fish. “This is the finest fish I’ve ever eaten!”
“It’s better than what my mom makes.” Roger said.
“Yes, there’s nothing better than fresh fish.” Scoutmaster Grason agreed.
The fish was gone in just a few minutes.
“Hey, let’s play a game of leapfrog.” one of the Scouts said.
The boys cheered and lined up. They jumped over the boy who had suggested the game, laughing as they did. When it was Robert’s turn, he stepped right over him! Then he crouched down so the boys could jump over him.
…Or, they could try to.
Robert frowned as a small Scout ran right into his behind! He didn’t see the kid scratch his head as he figured out a way to jump over, but he did see him dart underneath him!
“He’s got it!” a boy exclaimed along with some chatter.
They all ran underneath Robert.
After a few more rounds, Scoutmaster Grason said, “I know you boys have probably had your fill of exercise, but who here is up for some hiking?”
“I am!” the boys replied to Grason’s surprise.
Robert frowned. Walking long distances often made his legs ache terribly (leapfrog already made them a tad sore). Would he be able to hike with the others? He looked back at the picnic table, then at his fellow Scouts.
Before long, he was walking beside them. They trekked through the forest, going past towering trees. Robert stopped to admire them. His height of seven foot four was nothing compared to the trees, which were over a hundred feet tall!
I never thought I’d see something taller than me, he thought. Trees sure are something special!
He noticed that the Scouts were walking away, so he ran to catch up with them. But his aggravated legs stopped him. He sat on a log in a clearing nearby to rest.
“Hey, look, it’s another game of leapfrog!” Robert faintly heard a boy exclaim. “Oof! That’s a bit too high for me.”
“Just go under it!” another Scout recommended.
The boys laughed, their voices getting fainter.
I’d better catch up to them! Robert realized.
He rose from the log and went down the path. He could hear the boys’ chatter, which reassured him. They weren’t too far away.
Just then, Robert spotted a huge tree trunk on the right side of the path. It wasn’t straight up and down like the other trees. It snaked up like a hill before going down. The huge bole reminded him of something…
Robert smiled as he stepped over the trunk’s lower end and thought, That’s not too high for me!
“Robert!” a voice exclaimed.
Robert looked up, grinning at the sight of Roger running his way. “Hey, Roger!”
Roger stopped in front of Robert and asked, “Why did you wander off?”
“I didn’t,” Robert replied. “I was just resting for a bit.”
“You should’ve told us. I thought we’d lost you!”
“Oh, no. You kept me from getting lost,” Robert chuckled at Roger’s puzzled look. “I’m sorry for not letting you guys know.”
Roger smiled. “It’s alright. You’re here and that’s what matters.”
“We should probably get back before the other guys start to worry about us.”
“Oh, right! Let’s go!”
Robert took Roger’s hand and they ran to the other Scouts, who they caught up to half a minute later. The Scouts resumed the hike, making sure to stick together this time! Luckily for Robert, the entire preserve wasn’t too big. He was able to hang out with his friends, watch birds and see deer without too much leg pain.
The siblings will never believe that I managed to walk ninety acres, Robert thought. I won’t tell them that it’s less than a mile long!
By the time the Scouts returned to camp, the sun was starting to set. They ended the day with songs and marshmallows over a fire. After saying goodnight, they retreated to their tents. Robert settled into his custom tent with Roger. He lay there for a moment, taking in the soft sounds of nature as he thought about all that had happened today.
This has been the best campout ever so far, Robert thought with a smile. And I’m so excited to see what comes next!
...
“What did come next, Big Brother?” Harold Jr. inquired as Robert ended the story.
“Many more camping adventures,” Robert replied with a smile. “I hiked six miles in one of them.”
“Woah!” Betty exclaimed. “That’s so many miles! My feet would be so tired after that.”
“Yeah, it’s way more than your first hike,” Helen agreed. “From what I remember, that was a lot!”
Eugene sighed. “I wish I could’ve been in the Scouts. It sounds like a lot of fun.”
“It sure was.” Robert replied.
“Well, at least there’s plenty of stories!” Harold Jr. reassured him.
“At least there’s that.” Eugene responded with a smile.
He got up and continued to rummage through the box he had left behind before the story. He gasped a few moments later.
“Yes! I found it!” he exclaimed triumphantly.
“Found what?” Robert inquired.
Eugene held up a feather. “I got this when I entered the Quill and Scroll club last year. Boy, does this have a story!”
“Tell it, tell it!” Harold Jr. encouraged.
Eugene sat back down and the Wadlow siblings entered the past once again.

1) How many works do you have on AO3? 22. Because I'm excellent at thinking up ideas and then scaring myself out of writing them.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count? 89,347. Again, I'm AMAZING at psyching myself out of projects.
3) What fandoms do you write for? The bulk of my paltry number of fics are The Old Guard focussed, but I have an ANCIENT, unfinished Stargate: Atlantis fic on there and a snippet of a LOTR/LOTRO piece that will never be completed.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Codeword Blue, For The First Time, The Slowest Burn, Lost in Translation and Close. Which is kind of amazing because the ship-focus for these is, arguably, not necessarily 'mainstream' in the TOG fan space so I massively appreciate that people rate them!
5) Do you respond to comments? I do! Or I used to, back when I posted something new/regularly. I haven't posted anything for a VERY long time now, and so actively avoid reading any new comments because then I'll feel guilty for not writing, or feel like a fraud.
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't really go for angsty, because I tend to just want happy endings for all. I have an unsatisfying cliff-hanger ending to what was supposed to be a two-parter fic (Homewrecker) so I supposed in a parallel universe where people are dying for me to finish it, the fact that it's resolutely NOT complete might be causing some angst?
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They all have happy endings in one form or another but I think the one that might have the most "aaawwh" factor is maybe I Won't Let You Sink. Any excuse for my boy Booker to get a hug, really.
8) Do you get hate on fics? I don't think so? At least none that I'm aware of! Nobody's leaving me comments or hitting up my DMs, put it that way.
9) Do you write smut? I do. With varying degrees of success, admittedly, but still...
10) Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written? Many moons ago, perhaps, on a long-forgotten fanfiction.net account but nothing I can remember!
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Darling, I don't want my fics half the time. Why the hell would anyone else?!
12) have you ever had a fic translated? I have not!
13) have you ever cowritten a fic before? I think I've made plans to with a few people but not followed through. I'm scared of not living up to the hype and letting them down!
14) What’s your all time favorite ship? Honestly? The Ongoing LOTRO Fic I'll Never Finish, featuring my OC and Lothrandir. That Ranger needs a hug, a break and therapy in that order and my elf will give him that.
15) What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? BITCH, THROW A DART AT ANY OF THE 40-ODD DRAFTS IN MY FOLDER AND YOU'RE A WINNER.
16) What are your writing strengths? I'm almost annoyingly descriptive. I can't draw for shit so I'll use words to try and conjure up an image that I could never in a million years manage with a paintbrush.
17) what are your writing weaknesses? My lack of self-belief...
18) thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'm for it! As I'm not fluent in any other language, I'll keep it to short little snippets, italicised, that I'm confident aren't terrible and won't cause an international incident! I think it can be a nice nod to a character's past, who they are and their heritage.
19) First fandom you wrote for? Again, MANY moons ago and long-forgotten, but Stargate: SG-1 when I was maybe 13?
20) Favorite fic you’ve written? Probably Bloom. I just really like the idea that Booker and Joe's relationship is deep and probably has evolved and developed and fluctuated a LOT over the years and had fun exploring that! (And Goldie's art for it was just phenomenal!)
